1In vivo flow cytometry reveals a circadian rhythm of circulating tumor cells显示文摘Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)is an established biomarker of cancer metastasis.The circulation dynamics of CTCs are important for understanding the mechanisms underlying tumor cell dissemination.Although studies have revealed that the circadian rhythm may disrupt the growth of tumors,it is generally unclear whether the circadian rhythm controls the release of CTCs.In clinical examinations,the current in vitro methods for detecting CTCs in blood samples are based on a fundamental assumption that CTC counts in the peripheral blood do not change significantly over time,which is being challenged by recent studies.Since it is not practical to draw blood from patients repeatedly,a feasible strategy to investigate the circadian rhythm of CTCs is to monitor them by in vivo detection methods.Fluoresce nee in vivo flow cytometry(IVFC)is a powerful optical technique that is able to detect fluoresce nt circulating cells directly in living animals in a noninvasive manner over a long period of time.In this study,we applied fluorescence IVFC to monitor CTCs noninvasively in an orthotopic mouse model of human prostate cancer.We observed that CTCs exhibited stochastic bursts over cancer progression.The probability of the bursting activity was higher at early stages than at late stages.We longitudinally monitored CTCs over a 24-h period,and our results revealed striking daily oscillations in CTC counts that peaked at the onset of the night(active phase for rodents),suggesting that the release of CTCs might be regulated by the circadian rhythm.Xi Zhu Yuanzhen Suo Yuting Fu Fuli Zhang Nan Ding Kai Pang Chengying Xie Xiaofu Weng Meilu Tian Hao He Xunbin Wei 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,6:6
2Reply to Comment on “In vivo flow cytometry reveals a circadian rhythm of circulating tumor cells”显示文摘Dear Editor,We thank Niedre et al.for their correspondence regarding our recent paper1.They proposed a point that the temporal distribution of circulating tumor cells(CTCs)monitored by diffuse in vivo flow cytometry in a multiple myeloma mouse model in their previous work2 might be different from our results.Niedre et al.claimed that CTC detection statistics deviated from Poisson but did not found circadian variations in CTC numbers in a multiple myeloma mouse model.They also cite another literature by Juratli.et al.3,in which the authors reported that CTC numbers did not always correlate with tumor size during cancer progression.However,by establishing an orthotopic mouse model of prostate cancer and utilizing the technology in vivo flow cytometry(IVFC),we found CTCs exhibited bursting activity and daily oscillation in an orthotopic model of prostate cancer.Xi Zhu Yuanzhen Suo Yuting Fu Fuli Zhang Nan Ding Kai Pang Chengying Xie Xiaofu Weng Meilu Tian Hao He Xunbin Wei 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,10:2
3Realizing ranged performance in SnTe through integrating bands convergence and DOS distortion显示文摘As a typical IV-VI compound,SnTe has aroused widely attentions in the thermoelectric community due its similar crystal and band structures with PbTe.However,both the large number of inherent Sn vacancies and high thermal conductivity result in inferior thermoelectric performance in intrinsic SnTe over a broad temperature.In this work,we successfully improved those disadvantages of SnTe via stepwisely Pb heavily alloying and then In doping.A significantly wide fraction of Pb into SnTe(0-50%)achieves multiple effects:(a)the carrier concentration of SnTe is reduced through decreasing Sn vacancies via alloying high solution Pb atoms in the matrix;(b)the band structure is optimized through promoting the convergence of the two valence bands,simultaneously enhancing the Seebeck coefficient;(c)HAADF-STEM coupled with EDS results illustrate that guest Pb atoms randomly and uniformly occupied Sn atomic sites in the matrix,concurrently strengthening the phonon scattering.Furthermore,we introduced indium into Sn_(0.6)Pb_(0.4)Te system to create resonant states further enlarging the power factors at low-medium temperature.The integration of bands convergence and DOS distortion achieves a considerably high ZT_(ave) of~0.67 over the wide temperature range of 300-823 K in(Sn_(0.6)Pb_(0.4))_(0.995)In_(0.005)Te sample.Huimei Pang Xiuxiu Zhang Dongyang Wang Rong Huang Zhenzhong Yang Xiao Zhang Yuting Qiu Li-Dong Zhao 2022Journal of Materiomics2022,8,1:2
4Compositional characteristics and toxicological responses of human lung epithelial cells to inhalable particles (PM_(10)) from ten typical biomass fuel combustions显示文摘As the primary component of haze,atmospheric inhalable particulate matters(PMio)are highly detri-mental to human health.Biomass combustion is one of China's most pivotal sources to aerosols pollution,inducing non-negligible emissions and uncertain risks.PMio samples directly from 10 representative biomass fuel combustion sources(2 groups covering the reality widely:straws of rice,wheat,corn,corncob,soybean,peanut,rape,sesame;and branches of pine,peach)were collected using the dilution channel sampler and analyzed for chemical compositions and in vitro cytotoxicity to human lung epithelial cell lines A549.The components of PMio are dominated by organic carbon(OC),followed by Water-soluble K+and Cl,and rich in metals Fe,Zn,Cr,and Ni.Generally,PMio emitted from biomass fuel combustions can weaken the antioxidant capacity of cells,and straws emissions,especially rape and peanut straws,show stronger ability to further induce oxidative stress and inflammatory damage than fuelwoods,owing to the key toxic roles of Cr,Ni,and Co.Therefore,reducing the specific source emis--sions of PMio from crop straw combustions rich in heavy metals could be an effective oriented strategy to improve environmental air quality and control aerosols pollution precisely for protecting public health.Hanhan Li Mingwei Tang Xiaosan Luo Weijun Li Yuting Pang Weijie Huang Zhen Zhao Yaqian Wei Tengda Long Tariq Mehmood 2023Particuology2023,,7:0

6Achieving highly selective electrochemical CO_(2) reduction to C_(2)H_(4) on Cu nanosheets显示文摘The conversion of CO_(2)into value-added chemicals coupled with the storage of intermittent renewable electricity is attractive.CuO nanosheets with an average size and thickness of~30 and~20 nm have been developed,which are in situ reduced into Cu nanosheets during electrochemical CO_(2)reduction reaction(ECO_(2)RR).The derived Cu nanosheets demonstrate much higher selectivity for C2H4production than commercial CuO derived Cu powder,with an optimum Faradaic efficiency of 56.2%and a partial current density of C_(2)H_(4)as large as 171.0 mA cm^(-2)in a gas diffusion flow cell.The operando attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectra measurements and density functional theory simulations illustrate that the high activity and selectivity of Cu nanosheets originate from the edge sites on Cu nanosheets with a coordinate number around 5(4–6),which facilitates the formation of^(*)CHO rather than^(*)COH intermediate,meanwhile boosting the C-C coupling reaction of^(*)CO and^(*)CHO intermediates,which are the critical steps for C_(2)H_(4)formation.Huan Xie Ruikuan Xie Zhiyuan Zhang Yongyu Pang Yuting Luo Jiong Li Bilu Liu Maria-Magdalena Titirici Guoliang Chai 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,4:0

8Metformin:A promising clinical therapeutical approach for BPH treatment via inhibiting dysregulated steroid hormones-induced prostatic epithelial cells proliferation显示文摘The occurrence of benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH)was related to disrupted sex steroid hormones,and metformin(Met)had a clinical response to sex steroid hormone-related gynaecological disease.However,whether Met exerts an antiproliferative effect on BPH via sex steroid hormones remains unclear.Here,our clinical study showed that along with prostatic epithelial cell(PEC)proliferation,sex steroid hormones were dysregulated in the serum and prostate of BPH patients.As the major contributor to dysregulated sex steroid hormones,elevated dihydrotestosterone(DHT)had a significant positive relationship with the clinical characteristics of BPH patients.Activation of adenosine 5'-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase(AMPK)by Met restored dysregulated sex steroid hormone homeostasis and exerted antiproliferative effects against DHT-induced proliferation by inhibiting the formation of androgen receptor(AR)-mediated Yes-associated protein(YAP1)-TEA domain transcription factor(TEAD4)heterodimers.Met’s anti-proliferative effects were blocked by AMPK inhibitor or YAP1 overexpression in DHT-cultured BPH-1 cells.Our findings indicated that Met would be a promising clinical therapeutic approach for BPH by inhibiting dysregulated steroid hormone-induced PEC proliferation.Tingting Yanga Jiayu Yuana Yuting Penga Jiale Pang Zhen Qiu Shangxiu Chen Yuhan Huang Zhenzhou Jiang Yilin Fan Junjie Liu Tao Wang Xueyan Zhou Sitong Qian Jinfang Song Yi Xu Qian Lu Xiaoxing Yin 2024Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2024,14,1:0
