2Effects of westward shoaling pycnocline on characteristics and energetics of internal solitary wave in the Luzon Strait by numerical simulations显示文摘An internal gravity wave model was employed to simulate the generation of internal solitary waves(ISWs)over a sill by tidal flows.A westward shoaling pycnocline parameterization scheme derived from a three-parameter model was adopted,and then 14 numerical experiments were designed to investigate the influence of the pycnocline thickness,density difference across the pycnocline,westward shoaling isopycnal slope angle and pycnocline depth on the ISWs.When the pycnocline thickness on both sides of the sill increases,the total barotropic kinetic energy,total baroclinic energy and ratio of baroclinic kinetic energy(KE)to available potential energy(APE)decrease,whilst the depth of isopycnal undergoing maximum displacement and ratio of baroclinic energy to barotropic energy increase.When the density difference on both sides of the sill decreases synchronously,the total barotropic kinetic energy,ratio of baroclinic energy to barotropic energy and total baroclinic energy decrease,whilst the depth of isopycnal undergoing maximum displacement increases.When the westward shoaling isopycnal slope angle increases,the total baroclinic energy increases whilst the depth of turning point almost remains unchanged.When the depth of westward shoaling pycnocline on both sides of the sill reduces,the ratio of baroclinic energy to barotropic energy and total baroclinic energy decrease,whilst the total barotropic kinetic energy and ratio of KE to APE increase.When one of the above four different influencing factors was increased by 10%while the other factors keep unchanged,the amplitude of the leading soliton in ISW Packet A was decreased by 2.80%,7.47%,3.21%and 6.42%respectively.The density difference across the pycnocline and the pycnocline depth are the two most important factors in affecting the characteristics and energetics of ISWs.Haibin Lli Yujun Liu Xiaokang Chen Guozhen Zha Shuqun Cai 2021Acta Oceanologica Sinica2021,40,5:0
3An accelerated nonlocal means algorithm for synthetic aperture radar ocean image despeckling显示文摘Synthetic aperture radar(SAR)images play an increasingly important role in ocean environmental monitoring and research.However,SAR images are inherently corrupted by speckle noise.SAR ocean images have some unique characteristics.The signatures of ocean phenomena in SAR images mainly exhibit as stripe or plaque shaped features.These features typically have a high degree of self-similarity or redundancy.The nonlocal means(NLM)method can measure the structural similarity between different image patches and take advantage of redundant information in images.Considering that the NLM algorithm is computationally intensive and timeconsuming,an accelerated NLM algorithm for SAR ocean image despeckling is proposed in this paper.A method is used to discriminate between texture and flat pixels in SAR images.Large similarity and search windows are used on texture pixels,whereas small similarity and search windows are used on flat pixels.Furthermore,the improved NLM algorithm is accelerated by a graphic processing unit(GPU)based on the compute unified device architecture(CUDA)parallel computation framework.The computational efficiency is improved by approximately 200 times.Guozhen Zha Dewei Xu Yanming Yang Xin’gai Song Fuhuang Zhong 2019Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,11:0
4A curvelet-based method to determine wave directions from nautical X-band radar images显示文摘A new method to determine wave directions from nautical X-band images is proposed. The signatures of ocean waves show obvious scale and directional characteristics in nautical X-band radar images. Curvelet transform(CT) possesses very high scale and directional sensitivities. Therefore, it has good capability to analyze ocean wave fields. The radar images are decomposed at different scales, in different directions, and at different positions by CT, and curvelet coefficients are obtained. Given to the scale and directional characteristics of surface waves,the information of ocean waves is centralized in the curvelet coefficients of certain directions and at certain scales.Therefore, the wave orientations can be determined. The 180 ambiguity is removed by calculating crosscorrelation coefficients(CCCs) between continuous collected images.
