| 1 | Heyan Kuntai capsule versus dehydroepiandrosterone in treating Chinese patients with infertility caused by diminished ovarian reserve: a multicenter, randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Heyan Kuntai capsule(HYKT) in treating women with infertility caused by diminished ovarian reserve(DOR).METHODS: One hundred eight eligible patientsfrom three Chinese hospitals were randomly divided into an HYKT treatment group(n = 55) or a dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA) treatment group(n =53). Patients in the HYKT group were treated orally with four 0.5 g HYKT three times a day; patients in the DHEA group were treated with one 25.0 mg DHEA capsule three times a day. All patients were treated for 3 months and followed up over a3-month period.RESULTS: Of 108 patients, 12 dropped out: six from the HYKT group, and six from the DHEA group. Eleven patients got pregnant during the treatment. Serum anti-Müllerian hormone levels and antral follicle counts increased significantly in both groups after treatment(P < 0.05) especially in the HYKT group(P < 0.05). Serum follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) levels and FSH/luteinizing hormone ratios decreased(P < 0.05) with no significant difference between the two groups. Estradiol levels in the HYKT group and DHEA-sulfate levels in the DHEA group both increased(P < 0.05). The spontaneous pregnancy rates were 12% and 11% in the HYKT and DHEA groups, respectively(not significant). During the follow-up period, 16 patients in the HYKT group underwent in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer(IVF-ET) and the number of retrieved oocytes was(5.1 ± 1.8). In DHEA group, 20 patients underwent IVF-ET and the number of retrieved oocyte was(4.2 ± 1.9)(not significant); clinical pregnancy rates were 38% in the HYKT group and 20%in DHEA group(not significant). No significant adverse reactions were observed.CONCLUSION: HYKT can improve the ovarian re-serve and hormone levels in patients with infertility caused by DOR. | 2 | Off-flavor compounds from decaying cyanobacterial blooms of Lake Taihu显示文摘The effect of cyanobacterial bloom decay on water quality and the complete degradation of cyanobacterial blooms in a short period were examined by an enclosure experiment in Gonghu Bay of Lake Taihu,China.Water quality parameters as well as taste and odor compounds during the breakdown of cyanobacterial blooms were measured.Results showed that the decay of cyanobacterial blooms caused anoxic water conditions,decreased pH,and increased nutrient loading to the lake water.The highest concentrations of dimethyl sulfide (DMS),dimethyl trisulfide (DMTS),and β-cyclocitral were observed in the anoxic water,at 62331.8,12413.3,and 1374.9 ng/L,respectively.2-Methylisoborneol was dominant during the live growth phase of cyanobacterial blooms,whereas DMS and DMTS were dominant during the decomposition phase.Dissolved oxygen,pH,and chlorophyll a were negatively correlated with DMS,DMTS,and β-cyclocitral,whereas total phosphorus,total nitrogen,and ammonium (NH4+-N) were positively correlated with DMS,DMTS,β-cyclocitral,and β-ionone.The experimental results suggested that preventing the anaerobic decomposition of cyanobacterial blooms is an important strategy against the recurrence of a malodor crisis in Lake Taihu. | Zhimei Ma Yuan Niu Ping Xie Jun Chen Min Tao Xuwei Deng | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3: | 9 |
| 3 | Impacts of water conservancy and soil conservation measures on annual runoff in the Chaohe River Basin during 1961-2005显示文摘Taking the Chaohe River Basin above the Miyun Reservoir in North China as a study area,the characteristics and variation trends of annual runoff and annual precipitation during 1961-2005 were analyzed applying Mann-Kendall test method on the basis of the hydrologic data of the major hydrological station(Xiahui Station) located at the outlet of the drainage basin and the meteorological data of 17 rainfall stations.Human activities including water conservancy projects construction and water diversion as well as implementation of soil and water conservation from 1961 to 2005 were carefully studied using time series contrasting method.The referenced period(1961-1980) that influenced slightly by human activities and the compared period(1981-2005) that influenced significantly by water conservancy and soil conservation measures were identified according to the runoff variation process analysis and abrupt change points detection during 1961-2005 applying double accumulative curve method,mean shift t-test method and Mann-Kendall mutation test technique.Based on the establishment of a rainfall-runoff empirical statistical model,impacts and the runoff-reducing effects of water conservancy and soil conservation measures on runoff reduction were evaluated quantitatively.The major results could be summarized as follows:(1) The annual precipitation in the drainage basin tends to decrease while the runoff has declined markedly since the 1960s,the average annual runoff from 1991 to 2000 was only 90.9% in proportion to that from 1961 to 1970.(2) The annual runoff variations in the drainage basin are significantly related to human activities.(3) During 1981-1990,1991-2000,2001-2005 and 1981-2005,the average annual runoff reduction amounts were 1.15×108,0.28×108,1.10×108 and 0.79×108 m3 respectively and the average annual runoff-reducing effects were 31.99%,7.13%,40.71% and 23.79% accordingly.Runoff-reducing effects by water conservancy and soil conservation measures are more prominent in the low water period. | LI Zijun LI Xiubin XU Zhimei | 2010 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2010,20,6: | 8 |

| 6 | Prediction of the trajectory of the manned spacecraft SHENZHOU-7 deploying a parachute based on a fine wind field显示文摘Given that horizontal wind plays an important role in predicting the trajectory of the manned spacecraft SHENZHOU-7 when employing a parachute, the China Meteorological Administration conducted an experiment involving high-resolution wind ob servation, analysis and prediction between September 21 and 28, 2008. In this work, an algorithm for tracking a spacecraft de ploying a parachute is studied. High-resolution wind profiles obtained from a numerical weather model, upper-atmosphere soundings and mobile incoherent Doppler wind lidar are compared. Forward and backward trajectory predictions based on various wind profiles, as well as their differences, are presented. In addition, the trajectory of SHENZHOU-7 is predicted using different wind profiles, and the predicted parachute-opening and landing points are compared with the observed points. | 7 | Effect of Bag Removing with Reflective Film Mulching Before Harvest on Fruit Coloration and Expression of Anthocyanin Related Genes in Peach显示文摘Appearance quality is the main element forming the fruit quality. Both bagging and reflective film application can improve appearance comprehensive quality. In order to determine the effects of bagging and reflective film on peach fruit coloration, this study explored the effects of applying reflective film before harvest on fruit appearance quality of peach(Prunus persica), and discussed the influencing mechanism on fruit coloration. Yellow outside and black inside double-layer bags were removed from fruit twelve days d before harvest. Peel color, pigment content, enzyme activity as well as the gene expression related to fruit coloration of a well-colored and late-ripening peach cultivar ‘Xiahui 8' with different treatments(non-bagging with non-reflective film mulching, debagging with non-reflective film mulching, debagging with reflective film mulching) were researched. The results showed that both debagging with non-reflective film mulching and debagging with reflective film mulching could significantly improve red and green color difference value(a*), a*/b*(b* is yellow and blue color difference value), chroma(C), anthocyanin(Ant) content and reduce hue angle(h), while debagging with reflective film mulching had higher Ant content than debagging with non-reflective film mulching(P < 0.05). The two treatments up-regulated the transcript level of anthocyanin biosynthetic related genes(UFGT, CHS) at the beginning of the experiment, however, the expression of DFR, LDOX and F3 H were enhanced along with the testing process. A downward trend on peel phenylalanine ammonia lyase(PAL) activity of non-bagging with non-reflective film mulching was observed during the experiment, however, the peel PAL activity of the other two treatments first increased and then decreased. What's more, peel PAL activity of debagging with reflective film mulching was higher than debagging with non-reflective film mulching. | 11 | Microcystis aeruginosa/Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes interaction effects on off-flavors in algae/bacteria co-culture system under different temperatures显示文摘We conducted an experiment to study the interaction effects of Microcystis aeruginosa and Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes on off-flavors in an algae/bacteria co-culture system at three temperatures(24, 28 and 32℃). Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry was applied to measure off-flavor compounds dimethyl sulfide(DMS), dimethyl trisulfide(DMTS),2-methylisoborneol, geosmin(GEO) and β-cyclocitral. During the lag phase of co-cultured M. aeruginosa(first 15 days), P. pseudoalcaligenes significantly increased the production of DMS, DMTS and β-cyclocitral at all three temperatures. In the exponential phase of co-cultured M. aeruginosa(after 15 days), M. aeruginosa became the main factor on off-flavors in the co-culture system, and β-cyclocitral turned to the highest off-flavor compound. These results also indicated that DMS, DMTS and β-cyclocitral were the main off-flavor compounds in our M. aeruginosa/P. pseudoalcaligenes co-culture system. Univariate analysis was applied to investigate the effects of M. aeruginosa and P. pseudoalcaligenes on the production of off-flavors. The results demonstrated that both M. aeruginosa and P. pseudoalcaligenes could increase the production of DMS and DMTS, while β-cyclocitral was mainly determined by M. aeruginosa. | 14 | Unexpected elastic isotropy in a black phosphorene/TiC2 van der Waals heterostructure with flexible Li-ion battery anode applications显示文摘Recently, flexible electrodes with biaxial/omnidirectional stretchability haveattracted significant attention. However, most existing pliable electrode materialscan be only stretched in one direction. In this work, an unexpected isotropic vander Waals (vdW) heterostructure is proposed, based on the assembly of two-dimensional crystals of anisotropic black phosphorene (BP) and transition metalcarbide (TIC2). Using vdW-corrected density functional theory calculations, theBPFFiC2 vdW heterostructure was predicted to have excellent structural andmechanical stability, superior electrical conductivity, omnidirectional flexibility,and a high Li storage capacity. We have unraveled the physical origin of theexcellent stability, as well as the Li adsorption preferences of the lithiatedheterostructure, based on a three-step analysis of the stability of the Li-adsorptionprocesses. In addition, the BP/TiC2 vdW heterostructure can also be applied asthe anode material for flexible Na-ion batteries because of its high Na storagecapacity and strong Na binding. | 15 | Ultrasound measurement of the corpus callosum and neural development of premature infants显示文摘Length and thickness of 152 corpus callosa were measured in neonates within 24 hours of birth.Using ultrasonic diagnostic equipment with a neonatal brain-specific probe,corpus callosum length and thickness of the genu,body,and splenium were measured on the standard mid-sagittal plane,and the anteroposterior diameter of the genu was measured in the coronal plane.Results showed that corpus callosum length as well as thickness of the genu and splenium increased with gestational age and birth weight,while other measures did not.These three factors on the standard mid-sagittal plane are therefore likely to be suitable for real-time evaluation of corpus callosum development in premature infants using cranial ultrasound.Further analysis revealed that thickness of the body and splenium and the anteroposterior diameter of the genu were greater in male infants than in female infants,suggesting that there are sex differences in corpus callosum size during the neonatal period.A second set of measurements were taken from 40 premature infants whose gestational age was 34 weeks or less.Corpus callosum measurements were corrected to a gestational age of 40 weeks,and infants were grouped for analysis depending on the outcome of a neonatal behavioral neurological assessment.Compared with infants with a normal neurological assessment,corpus callosum length and genu and splenium thicknesses were less in those with abnormalities,indicating that corpus callosum growth in premature infants is associated with neurobehavioral development during the early extrauterine stage. | Fang Liu Shikao Cao Jiaoran Liu Zhifang Du Zhimei Guo Changjun Ren | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,26: | 3 |

| 17 | Prediction of thermoelectric performance for layered IV-V-VI semiconductors by high-throughput ab initio calculations and machine learning显示文摘Layered IV-V-VI semiconductors have immense potential for thermoelectric(TE)applications due to their intrinsically ultralow lattice thermal conductivity.However,it is extremely difficult to assess their TE performance via experimental trial-and-error methods.Here,we present a machine-learning-based approach to accelerate the discovery of promising thermoelectric candidates in this chalcogenide family.Based on a dataset generated from high-throughput ab initio calculations,we develop two highly accurateand-efficient neural network models to predict the maximum ZT(ZT_(max))and corresponding doping type,respectively.The top candidate,n-type Pb_(2)Sb_(2)S_(5),is successfully identified,with the ZT_(max) over 1.0 at 650 K,owing to its ultralow thermal conductivity and decent power factor.Besides,we find that n-type Te-based compounds exhibit a combination of high Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity,thereby leading to better TE performance under electron doping than hole doping.Whereas p-type TE performance of Se-based semiconductors is superior to n-type,resulting from large Seebeck coefficient induced by high density-ofstates near valence band edges. | Yu Gan Guanjie Wang Jian Zhou Zhimei Sun | 2021 | npj Computational Materials2021,,1: | 3 |

| 20 | The clinical and genetic characteristics in children with mitochondrial disease in China显示文摘Mitochondrial disease was a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of diseases, thus the diagnosis was very difficult to clinicians. Our objective was to analyze clinical and genetic characteristics of children with mitochondrial disease in China. We tested 141 candidate patients who have been suspected of mitochondrial disorders by using targeted next-generation sequencing(NGS), and summarized the clinical and genetic data of gene confirmed cases from Neurology Department, Beijing Children's Hospital, Capital Medical University from October 2012 to January 2015. In our study, 40 cases of gene confirmed mitochondrial disease including eight kinds of mitochondrial disease, among which Leigh syndrome was identified to be the most common type, followed by mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis, and stroke-like episodes(MELAS). The age-of-onset varies among mitochondrial disease, but early onset was common. All of 40 cases were gene confirmed, among which 25 cases(62.5%)with mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) mutation, and 15 cases(37.5%) with nuclear DNA(nDNA) mutation. M.3243A>G(n=7)accounts for a large proportion of mtDNA mutation.
