| 1 | Neutrophil extracellular traps mediate the crosstalk between glioma progression and the tumor microenvironment via the HMGB1/RAGE/IL-8 axis显示文摘Objective:Neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs)produced by tumor-infiltrating neutrophils(TINs)are associated with poor prognosis in patients with several types of cancer.However,the mechanisms underlying the involvement of NETs in glioma progression remain largely unknown.This study aimed to elucidate the roles of NETs in biological processes that drive the crosstalk between glioma progression and the tumor microenvironment.Methods:Neutrophil infiltration and NETs formation were investigated in glioma tissue through immunohistochemistry,and their relationships with clinicopathological features and outcomes were statistically evaluated.The effects of NETs on glioma cell progression were studied in a co-culture system.In vivo and in vitro experiments validated the reactive oxygen species activity and cytokine production of TINs,as well as the ERK signaling pathway activation and the metastasis of gliomas.Results:Neutrophil infiltration and NETs formation were induced in high-grade glioma compared with low-grade glioma.NETs induced by TINs were determined to be an oncogenic marker of high-grade gliomas and to be involved in cell proliferation and invasion.NETs overproduction promoted glioma cell proliferation,migration,and invasion.Furthermore,HMGB1 was found to bind to RAGE and activate the NF-κB signaling pathway in vitro.In addition,NETs stimulated the NF-κB signaling pathway,thus promoting IL-8 secretion in glioblastoma.Subsequently,IL-8 recruited neutrophils which in turn mediated NETs formation via the PI3 K/AKT/ROS axis in TINs.Conclusions:Our results suggest that NETs produced by TINs mediate the crosstalk between glioma progression and the tumor microenvironment by regulating the HMGB1/RAGE/IL-8 axis.Targeting NETs formation or IL-8 secretion may be an effective approach to inhibit glioma progression. | Caijun Zha Xiangqi Meng Lulu Li Shan Mi Da Qian Ziwei Li Pengfei Wu Shaoshan Hu Shihong Zhao Jinquan Cai Yanhong Liu | 2020 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,1: | 19 |
| 2 | Metabonomic phenotype and identification of “heart blood stasis obstruction pattern” and “qi and yin deficiency pattern” of myocardial ischemia rat models显示文摘The traditional Chinese medicine concepts of 'Xinxueyuzuzheng (heart blood stasis obstruction pattern)' and 'Qiyinliangxuzheng (qi and yin deficiency pattern)' for myocardial ischemia rat models were constructed in the present study. Endogenous metabolites in rat plasma were analyzed using the GC/TOF-MS-based metabonomic method. Significant metabolic differences were observed between the control and two model groups, and the three groups were distinguished clearly by pattern recognition. Compared with those of the control, the levels of hydroxyproline, threonic acid, glutamine and citric acid were strikingly up or down-regulated in model rats. The metabolites contributing most to the classification between the two 'pattern' rats were identified, such as valine, serine, threonine, ornithine, hydroxyproline, lysine, 2-hydroxybutanoic acid, 3-hydroxybutanoic acid, galactofuranose and inositol. These compounds were indicated as the potential biomarkers. The results suggested that the two 'patterns' are involved in dysfunction in oxidative stress, energy metabolism and amino acid metabolism. | 3 | Developmental Genetics Analysis for Plant Height in indica Hybrid Rice Across Environments显示文摘The developmental genetics of plant height was analyzed from two groups of three-line indica hybrid rice at two environmental conditions based on the NCII design,using the additive-dominant developmental genetics models and the statistic methods.The results showed that the rice genotypes and environmental conditions could both affect plant height,and the effects of environment on plant height decreased gradually with plant development.Additive and dominant effects both governed the performance of plant height at all developmental stages.However,the degrees of effect varied among the rice genotypes.Moreover,the interaction between environments and genotypes also affected plant height.The genetic effects differed at most developmental stages.Furthermore,the expression of additive effect was more active than that of dominant effect.Conditional interaction effects with environment also influenced plant height during genetic development,especially at the early stage.Mid-parent heterosis(HMP) increased gradually with the developmental stage of plant height,and maximized at the latest stage,whereas the heterosis over the better parent(HBP) showed small differences among the genotypes,and kept stable at the later stage,with positive numeric value.At most developmental stages,conditional HMP was positively significant,while conditional HBP was negatively significant.All above results suggest that HMP and HBP have some new expressions in all developmental periods and the levels and directions are quite different. | PENG Tao ZHONG Bing-qiang LING Ying-hua YANG Zheng-lin ZHA Ren-ming XIE Rong LIU Cheng-yuan HE Guang-hua | 2009 | Rice science2009,16,2: | 14 |

| 5 | Relationship between electrochemical characteristics and SCC of X70 pipeline steel in an acidic soil simulated solution显示文摘Stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of X70 pipeline steel in simulated solution of the acidic soil in Yingtan in China was investigated using slow strain rate test (SSRT), SEM and potentiodynamic polarization technique. Experiment results indicate that X70 steel is highly susceptible to SCC as applied potential reduces, which is manifested in loss of toughness and brittle fracture. Constant polarization current can detect the occurrence of SCC. The lower the polarization current is the sooner stress corrosion cracking occurs. The SCC mechanisms are different at varying potentials. When potential is higher than open circuit potential, anodic process controls SCC, whereas when potential is far lower than open circuit potential, cathodic process controls SCC, and between these two potential regions, a combined electrochemical process controls the SCC. | 7 | Management of granulomatous lobular mastitis: an international multidisciplinary consensus(2021 edition)显示文摘Granulomatous lobular mastitis(GLM) is a rare and chronic benign inflammatory disease of the breast. Difficulties exist in the management of GLM for many front-line surgeons and medical specialists who care for patients with inflammatory disorders of the breast. This consensus is summarized to establish evidence-based recommendations for the management of GLM. Literature was reviewed using PubMed from January 1, 1971 to July 31, 2020. Sixty-six international experienced multidisciplinary experts from 11 countries or regions were invited to review the evidence.Levels of evidence were determined using the American College of Physicians grading system, and recommendations were discussed until consensus. Experts discussed and concluded 30 recommendations on historical definitions,etiology and predisposing factors, diagnosis criteria, treatment, clinical stages, relapse and recurrence of GLM. GLM was recommended as a widely accepted definition. In addition, this consensus introduced a new clinical stages and management algorithm for GLM to provide individual treatment strategies. In conclusion, diagnosis of GLM depends on a combination of history, clinical manifestations, imaging examinations, laboratory examinations and pathology.The approach to treatment of GLM should be applied according to the different clinical stage of GLM. | 8 | Radial profile of sap flow velocity in mature Xinjiang poplar(Populus alba L. var. pyramidalis) in Northwest China显示文摘Estimation of the transpiration rate for a tree is generally based on sap flow measurements within the hydro-active stem xylem. In this study, radial variation of sap flow velocity(Js) was investigated at five depths of the xylem(1, 2, 3, 5 and 8 cm under the cambium) in three mature Xinjiang poplar(Populus alba L. var. pyramidalis) trees grown at the Gansu Minqin National Studies Station for Desert Steppe Ecosystem from May to October 2011. Thermal dissipation probes of various lengths manufactured according to the Granier's design were installed into each tree for simultaneous observation of the radial patterns of Js through the xylem. The radial patterns were found to fit the four-parameter GaussAmp equation. The peak Js was about 27.02±0.95 kg/(dm2?d) at approximately 3 to 5 cm deep from the cambium of the three trees,and the lowest Js appeared at 1 cm deep in most of the time. Approximately 50% of the total sap flow in Xinjiang poplar occurred within one-third of the xylem from its outer radius, whereas 90% of the total sap flow occurred within two-fifth of the xylem. In addition, the innermost point of the xylem(at 8-cm depth), which appeared as the penultimate sap flow in most cases during the study period, was hydro-active with Js,8 of 7.55±3.83 kg/(dm2?d). The radial pattern of Js was found to be steeper in midday than in other time of the day, and steeper diurnal fluctuations were recorded in June, July and August(the mid-growing season). Maximum differences between the lowest Js(Js,1 or Js,8) and the highest Js(Js,3 or Js,5) from May through October were 12.41, 17.35, 16.30, 18.52, 12.60 and 16.04 g/(cm2?h), respectively. The time-dependent changes of Js along the radial profile(except at 1-cm depth) were strongly related to the reference evapotranspiration(ET0). Due to significant radial variability of Js, the mean daily sap flow at the whole-tree level could be over-estimated by up to 29.69% when only a single probe at depth of 2 cm was used. | 9 | Hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha upregulates vascular endothelial growth factor C to promote lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer patients显示文摘Hypoxia-induced factor-1 alpha(HIF-1α)affects many effector molecules and regulates tumor lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis during hypoxia.The aim of this study was to investigate the role of HIF-1αin the regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGF-C)expression and its effect on lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer.Lymphatic vessel density(LVD),microvessel density(MVD)and the expressions of HIF-1αand VEGF-C proteins were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 75 breast cancer samples.There was a significant correlation between HIF-1αand VEGF-C(P=0.014,r=0.273,Spearman's coefficient of correlation).HIF-1αand VEGF-C overexpression was significantly correlated with higher LVD(P=0.003 and P=0.017,respectively),regional lymph nodal involvement(P=0.002 and P=0.004,respectively)and advanced tumor,node,metastasis(TNM)classification(P=0.001 and P=0.01,respectively).Higher MVD was observed in the group expressing higher levels of HIF-1αand VEGF-C(P=0.033 and P=0.037,respectively).Univariate analysis showed shorter survival time in patients expressing higher levels of HIF-1αand VEGF-C.HIF-1αwas also found to be an independent prognostic factor of overall survival in multivariate analysis.The results suggest that HIF-1αmay affect VEGF-C expression,thus acting as a crucial regulator of lymphangiogenesis and angiogenesis in breast cancer.This study highlights promising potential of HIF-1αas a therapeutic target against tumor lymph node metastasis. | Xiaojian Ni Yingchun Zhao Jingjing Ma Tiansong Xia Xiaoan Liu Qiang Ding Xiaoming Zha Shui Wang | 2013 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2013,27,6: | 10 |
| 10 | Effects of Heat Treatment and Nitrogen on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of 1Cr12NiMo Martensitic Stainless Steel显示文摘A series of heat treatments using the orthogonal experiment method were performed to study the microstructure and mechanical properties of 1Cr12NiMo martensitic stainless steel containing various nitrogen content addition. The results indicate that the optimal heat treatment is annealing at 830℃ for 1 h, austenitizing at 985℃ for 1 h followed by oil quenching, and tempering at 630℃ for 4 h followed by air cooling. Nitrogen addition to 1Cr12NiMo steel can effectively hinder the austenite grain growth, refine the martensite lath, and increase the strength and hardness. | 11 | Self-assembled core-shell polydopamine@MXene with synergistic solar absorption capability for highly efficient solar-to-vapor generation显示文摘As a renewable and environment-friendly technology for seawater desalination and wastewater purification,solar energy triggered steam generation is attractive to address the long-standing global water scarcity issues.However,practical utilization of solar energy for steam generation is severely restricted by the complex synthesis,low energy conversion efficiency,insufficient solar spectrum absorption and water extraction capability of state-of-the-art technologies.Here,for the first time,we report a facile strategy to realize hydrogen bond induced self-assembly of a polydopamine(PDA)@MXene microsphere photothermal layer for synergistically achieving wide-spectrum and highly efficient solar absorption capability(≈96%in a wide solar spectrum range of 250–1,500 nm wavelength).Moreover,such a system renders fast water transport and vapor escaping due to the intrinsically hydrophilic nature of both MXene and PDA,as well as the interspacing between core-shell microspheres.The solar-to-vapor conversion efficiencies under the solar illumination of 1 sun and 4 sun are as high as 85.2%and 93.6%,respectively.Besides,the PDA@MXene photothermal layer renders the system durable mechanical properties,allowing producing clean water from seawater with the salt rejection rate beyond 99%.Furthermore,stable light absorption performance can be achieved and well maintained due to the formation of ternary TiO2/C/MXene complex caused by oxidative degradation of MXene.Therefore,this work proposes an attractive MXene-assisted strategy for fabricating high performance photothermal composites for advanced solar-driven seawater desalination applications. | Xing Zhao Xiang-Jun Zha Li-Sheng Tang Jun-Hong Pu Kai Ke Rui-Ying Bao Zheng-ying Liu Ming-Bo Yang Wei Yang | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,1: | 10 |
| 12 | Sedimentary fill history of the Huicheng Basin in the West Qinling Mountains and associated constraints on Mesozoic intracontinental tectonic evolution显示文摘The Qinling Orogenic Belt is divided commonly by the Fengxian-Taibai strike-slip shear zone and the Huicheng Basin into the East and West Qinling mountains,which show significant geological differences after the Indosinian orogeny.The Fengxian-Taibai fault zone and the Meso-Cenozoic Huicheng Basin,situated at the boundary of the East and West Qinling,provide a natural laboratory for tectonic analysis and sedimentological study of intracontinental tectonic evolution of the Qinling Orogenic Belt.In order to explain the dynamic development of the Huicheng Basin and elucidate its post-orogenic tectonic evolution at the junction of the East and West Qinling,we studied the geometry and kinematics of fault zones between the blocks of West Qinling,as well as the sedimentary fill history of the Huicheng Basin.First,we found that after the collisional orogeny in the Late Triassic,post-orogenic extensional collapse occurred in the Early and Middle Jurassic within the Qinling Orogenic Belt,resulting in a series of rift basins.Second,in the Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous,a NE-SW compressive stress field caused large-scale sinistral strike-slip faults in the Qinling Orogenic Belt,causing intracontinental escape tectonics at the junction of the East and West Qinling,including eastward finite escape of the East Qinling micro-plate and southwest lateral escape of the Bikou Terrane.Meanwhile,the strike-slip-related Early Cretaceous sedimentary basin was formed with a right-order echelon arrangement in sinistral shear zones along the southern margin of the Huicheng fault.Overall during the Mesozoic,the Huicheng Basin and surrounding areas experienced four tectonic evolutionary stages,including extensional rift basin development in the Early and Middle Jurassic,intense compressive uplift in the Late Jurassic,formation of a strike-slip extensional basin in the Early Cretaceous,and compressive uplift in the Late Cretaceous. | LI Wei DONG YunPeng GUO AnLin LIU XiaoMing LIU YiQun ZHA XianFeng ZHANG KuaiLe | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,10: | 7 |

| 15 | Mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase(ALDH2)rescues cardiac contractile dysfunction in an APP/PS1 murine model of Alzheimer’s disease via inhibition of ACSL4-dependent ferroptosis显示文摘Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is associated with high incidence of cardiovascular events but the mechanism remains elusive.Our previous study reveals a tight correlation between cardiac dysfunction and low mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase(ALDH2)activity in elderly AD patients.In the present study we investigated the effect of ALDH2 overexpression on cardiac function in APP/PS1 mouse model of AD.Global ALDH2 transgenic mice were crossed with APP/PS1 mutant mice to generate the ALDH2-APP/PS1 mutant mice.Cognitive function,cardiac contractile,and morphological properties were assessed.We showed that APP/PS1 mice displayed significant cognitive deficit in Morris water maze test,myocardial ultrastructural,geometric(cardiac atrophy,interstitial fibrosis)and functional(reduced fractional shortening and cardiomyocyte contraction)anomalies along with oxidative stress,apoptosis,and inflammation in myocardium.ALDH2 transgene significantly attenuated or mitigated these anomalies.We also noted the markedly elevated levels of lipid peroxidation,the essential lipid peroxidation enzyme acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4(ACSL4),the transcriptional regulator for ACLS4 special protein 1(SP1)and ferroptosis,evidenced by elevated NCOA4,decreased GPx4,and SLC7A11 in myocardium of APP/PS1 mutant mice;these effects were nullified by ALDH2 transgene.In cardiomyocytes isolated from WT mice and in H9C2 myoblasts in vitro,application of Aβ(20μM)decreased cell survival,compromised cardiomyocyte contractile function,and induced lipid peroxidation;ALDH2 transgene or activator Alda-1 rescued Aβ-induced deteriorating effects.ALDH2-induced protection against Aβ-induced lipid peroxidation was mimicked by the SP1 inhibitor tolfenamic acid(TA)or the ACSL4 inhibitor triacsin C(TC),and mitigated by the lipid peroxidation inducer 5-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid(5-HETE)or the ferroptosis inducer erastin.These results demonstrate an essential role for ALDH2 in AD-induced cardiac anomalies through regulation of lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis. | Zhi-yun Zhu Yan-dong Liu Yan Gong Wei Jin Elena Topchiy Subat Turdi Yue-feng Gao Bruce Culver Shu-yi Wang Wei Ge Wen-liang Zha Jun Ren Zhao-hui Pei Xing Qin | 2022 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2022,43,1: | 6 |

| 17 | Surrounding rock control of gob-side entry driving with narrow coal pillar and roadway side sealing technology in Yangliu Coal Mine显示文摘Gob-side entry driving can increase coal recovery ratio, and it is implied in many coal mines. Based on geological condition of 10416 working face tailentry in Yangliu Coal Mine, the surrounding rock deformation characteristics of gob-side entry driving with narrow coal pillar is analysed, reasonable size of coal pillar and reasonable roadway excavation time after mining are achieved. Surrounding rock control technology and effective roadway side sealing technology are proposed and are taken into field practice. The results showed that a safer and more efficient mining of working face can be achieved. | 18 | Subsidence control and farmland conservation by solid backfilling mining technology显示文摘Solid backfilling mining technology, which decreases the height of fissure zone and caving zone, and alleviates the subsidence, is a new technology for farmland conservation. Based on the situation analysis of farmland destruction in mining area, three ways for farmland protection were proposed. In order to improve the feasibility of this technology, the limited filling materials should be used to increase resources recovery ratio, and then the surplus materials could be backfilled into goaf. An index, namely farmland conservation ability, was put forward to optimize the ways for farmland conservation. At last, the Wanbei coal mine was taken as a case for farmland conservation. | 20 | Identification of maca(Lepidium meyenii Walp.) and its adulterants by a DNA-barcoding approach based on the ITS sequence显示文摘Maca(Lepidium meyenii) is an herbaceous plant that grows in high plateaus and has been used as both food and folk medicine for centuries because of its benefits to human health. In the present study, ITS(internal transcribed spacer) sequences of forty-three maca samples, collected from different regions or vendors, were amplified and analyzed. The ITS sequences of nineteen potential adulterants of maca were also collected and analyzed. The results indicated that the ITS sequence of maca was consistent in all samples and unique when compared with its adulterants.
