| 1 | Eco-environment range in the source regions of the Yangtze and Yellow rivers显示文摘Based on geographical and hydrological extents delimited, four principles are identified, as the bases for delineating the ranges of the source regions of the Yangtze and Yellow rivers in the paper. According to the comprehensive analysis of topographical characteristics, climate conditions, vegetation distribution and hydrological features, the source region ranges for eco-environmental study are defined. The eastern boundary point is Dari hydrological station in the upper reach of the Yellow River. The watershed above Dari hydrological station is the source region of the Yellow River which drains an area of 4.49×10 4 km 2 . Natural environment is characterized by the major topographical types of plateau lakes and marshland, gentle landforms, alpine cold semi-arid climate, and steppe and meadow vegetation in the source region of the Yellow River. The eastern boundary point is the convergent site of the Nieqiaqu and the Tongtian River in the upstream of the Yangtze River. The watershed above the convergent site is the source region of the Yangtze River, with a watershed area of 12.24×10 4 km 2 . | 2 | Drug resistance mechanisms and novel drug targets for tuberculosis therapy显示文摘Drug-resistant tuberculosis(TB) poses a significant challenge to the successful treatment and control of TB worldwide.Resistance to anti-TB drugs has existed since the beginning of the chemotherapy era.New insights into the resistant mechanisms of anti-TB drugs have been provided.Better understanding of drug resistance mechanisms helps in the development of new tools for the rapid diagnosis of drugresistant TB.There is also a pressing need in the development of new drugs with novel targets to improve the current treatment of TB and to prevent the emergence of drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.This review summarizes the anti-TB drug resistance mechanisms,furnishes some possible novel drug targets in the development of new agents for TB therapy and discusses the usefulness using known targets to develop new anti-TB drugs.Whole genome sequencing is currently an advanced technology to uncover drug resistance mechanisms in M.tuberculosis.However,further research is required to unravel the significance of some newly discovered gene mutations in their contribution to drug resistance. | Md Mahmudul Islam H.M. | 3 | Evaluating Beijing’s human carrying capacity from the perspective of water resource constraints显示文摘As the demands on limited water resources intensify, concerns are being raised about the human carrying capacity of these resources. However, few researchers have studied the carrying capacity of regional water resources. Beijing, the second-largest city in China, faces a critical water shortage that will limit the city’s future development. We developed a method to quantify the carrying capacity of Beijing’s water resources by considering water-use structures based on the proportions of water used for agricultural, industrial, and domestic purposes. We defined a reference structure as 45:22:33 (% of total, respectively), an optimized structure as 40:20:40, and an ideal structure as 50:15:35. We also considered four domestic water quotas: 55, 75, 95, and 115 m 3 /(person·yr). The urban carrying capacity of 10–12 million was closest to Beijing’s actual 2003 population for all three water-use structures with urban domestic water use of 75 m 3 /(person·yr). However, after accounting for our underlying assumptions, the adjusted carrying capacity is closer to 5–6 million. Thus, Beijing’s population in 2003 was almost twice the adjusted carrying capacity. | 4 | Coastal seafloor observatory at Xiaoqushan in the East China Sea显示文摘The seafloor observation system is becoming an important infrastructure for marine research because it is transforming oceanic research from temporal investigation to long term observation.The East China Sea coastal seafloor observatory,located between 30°31′44″N,122°15′12″E and 30°31′34″N,122°14′40″E,is constructed near the Xiaoqushan Island outside the Hangzhou Bay on the inner continental shelf of the East China Sea.The observatory is connected by a submarine optical fiber composite power cable that is more than one kilometer long and consists of a special junction box that transmits power and communication signals to different instruments.The special junction box has a variety of waterproof plugs and connects to three different instruments installed in a trawl preventer.The submarine optical fiber composite power cable is landed on the platform by The East China Sea Branch,State Oceanic Administration and the power is continuously supplied by the solar panels and solar battery on the top of the platform.The real time data are directly sent through the cable to the platform and are transmitted by CDMA wireless to the receiver at the State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology of Tongji University.Measurements at the observatory have been taken since April 20,2009 after installation and the results have been interpreted.The characteristics of the near bottom boundary are constrained by a sediment suspension model using portion of the observed data.In particular,discussion is provided on the sea surface height anomaly at Xiaoqushan Island influenced by the tsunami driven by the 2010 Earthquake in Chile.The successful establishment of the coastal seafloor observatory is the first step toward future development of seafloor observation systems in China.It not only accumulates experiences in technology and engineering,but also paves the way for performing important oceanic research using the long term continuous observation platform. | XU HuiPing ZHANG YanWei XU ChangWei LI JianRu LIU Ding QIN RuFu LUO ShenQian FAN DaiDu | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,26: | 10 |
| 5 | Effects of calcination temperature on physicochemical property and activity of CuSO4/TiO2 ammonia-selective catalytic reduction catalysts显示文摘CuSO4/TiO2 catalysts with high catalytic activity and excellent resistant to SO2 and H2 O,were thought to be promising catalysts used in Selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides by NH3.The performance of catalysts is largely affected by calcination temperature.Here,effects of calcination temperature on physicochemical property and catalytic activity of CuSO4/TiO2 catalysts were investigated in depth.Catalyst samples calcined at different temperatures were prepared first and then physicochemical properties of the catalyst were characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption,X-ray diffraction,thermogravimetric analysis,Raman spectra,Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,temperature-pro grammed desorption of NH3,temperature-programmed reduction of H2 and in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy.Results revealed that high calcination temperature had three main effects on the catalyst.First,sintering and anatase transform into rutile with increase of calcination temperature,causing a decrement of specific surface area.Second,decomposition of CuSO4 under higher calcination temperature,resulting in disappears of Br(?)nsted acid sites(S-OH),which had an adverse effect on surface acidity.Third,CuO from the decomposition of CuSO4 changed surface reducibility of the catalyst and favored the process of NH3 oxidation to nitrogen oxides(NOx).Thus,catalytic activity of the catalyst calcined under high temperatures(≥600℃)decreased largely. | Yanke Yu Jiali Zhang Changwei Chen Chi He Jifa Miao Huirong Li Jinsheng Chen | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,5: | 6 |
| 6 | Detecting Droughts in Southwest China from GPS Vertical Position Displacements显示文摘The solid Earth responds elastically to terrestrial water storage(TWS)changes.Here global positioning system(GPS)vertical position data at 31 stations from the crustal movement observation network of China(CMONOC)from August 2010 to December 2016 are used to detect droughts in Southwest China.Monthly GPS vertical position displacements respond negatively to precipitation changes and TWS changes observed by gravity recovery and climate experiments(GRACE)as well as river water level variations.GPS vertical position anomalies(the non-seasonal term)are well correlated negatively(correlations of about-0.70)with the commonly used meteorological composite index(CI)in China and the GRACE drought severity index(GRACE-DSI),but less correlated with the standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index(SPEI).Compared to CI,GPS vertical position anomalies have the advantage of detecting droughts caused by abrupt precipitation deficits in a short time.GRACE-DSI is less accurate in drought monitoring for some periods due to the missing data,while the severity of abrupt precipitation absent in some cases can be overestimated from SPEI with big variability.This study shows the reliability and advantages of GPS data in drought monitoring. | Chaolong YAO Zhicai LUO Yueming HU Changwei WANG Rui ZHANG Jinming LI | 2020 | Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2020,3,3: | 5 |
| 7 | A prediction model for horizontal run-out distance of landslides triggered by Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘The peak ground acceleration (PGA), the volume of a sliding mass V, the height of a mountain H L and the slope angle θ of a mountain are four important parameters affecting the horizontal run-out distance of a landslide L. Correlations among them are studied statistically based on field investigations from 67 landslides triggered by the ground shaking and other factors during the Wenchuan earthquake, and then a prediction model for horizontal run-out distance L is developed in this study. This model gives due consideration to the implications of the above four parameters on the horizontal run-out distance L and the validity of the model is verified by the Donghekou and Magong Woqian landslides. At the same time, the advantages of the model are shown by comparing it with two other common prediction methods. The major findings drawn from the analyses and comparisons are: (1) an exponential relationship exists between L and log V, L and log H L , L and log PGA separately, but a negative exponential relationship exists between L and log tanθ, which agrees with the statistical results; and (2) according to the analysis results of the relative relationship between the height of a mountain (H) and the place where the landslides occur, the probabilities at distances of 2H/3-H, H/3-2H/3, and 0-H/3 are 70.8%, 15.4%, and 13.8%, respectively, revealing that most landslides occurred at a distance of H/2-H. | 9 | Fabrication and oxidation resistance of silicon nitride fiber reinforced silica matrix wave-transparent composites显示文摘Wave-transparent ceramic matrix composites for the high temperature use should possess excellent oxidation resistance. In this work, Si3N4f/SiO2 composites with different fiber content were fabricated by filament winding and sol gel method. The oxidation resistance was investigated by tracking the response of flexural strength to the testing temperature. The results show that the flexural strength and toughness of the composites with fiber content of over 37% can reach high levels at around 175.0 MPa and 6.2 MPa m^1/2, respectively. After 1 h oxidation at 1100℃, the flexural strength drops a lot but can still reach 114.4 MPa, which is high enough to ensure the safety of structures. However, when the oxidation temperature rises to 1200–1400℃, the flexural strengths continue to fall to a relatively low level at 50.0–66.4 MPa. | 11 | Morphological and physiological analysis of narrow and striped leaf 1(nsl1) mutant of rice(Oryza sativa L.) and the gene mapping显示文摘The shape and color of rice leaves are important agronomic traits that directly influence the proportion of sunlight energy utilization and ultimately affect the yield and quality.A new mutant exhibiting stable inheritance was identified as derived from ethyl methane sulfonate(EMS)-treated restorer Jinhui 10,tentatively named as narrow and striped leaf 1(nsl1).The nsl1 displayed pale white leaves at the seeding stage and then white striped leaves in parallel to the main vein at the jointing stage.Meanwhile,its leaf blades are significantly narrower than the control group of Jinhui 10.The chloroplast structures of cells in the white striped area of the nsl1 mutant break down,and the photosynthetic pigments are significantly lower than that of the wild type.Moreover,fluorescence parameters,such as F0,F v/F m,U psII,qp,and ETR,in the nsl1 mutant are significantly lower than those of the wild type,and the photosynthetic efficiency is also significantly decreased.These changes in leaf color and shape,together with physiological changes in the nsl1,result in smaller plant height and a decrease in the most important agronomic traits,such as the number of grains per panicle,grain weight,etc.Genetic analysis shows that the narrow and striped traits of the nsl1 mutant are controlled by a single recessive nuclear gene,which is located between InDel 16and InDel 12 in chromosome 3.The physical distance is204 kb.So far,no similar genes of such leaf color and shape in this area have been reported.This study has laid a solid foundation for the gene cloning and function analysis of NSL1. | Fangming Zhao Yong Zhang Yanru Wu Tongming Wang Ling Ma Zhenglin Yang Xia Wei Xianchun Sang Yinghua Ling Nan Wang Changwei Zhang Guanghua He | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,9: | 3 |
| 12 | Fractional pyrolysis of Cyanobacteria from water blooms over HZSM-5 for high quality bio-oil production显示文摘Fractional pyrolysis and one-step pyrolysis of natural algae Cyanobacteria from Taihu Lake were comparatively studied from 200 to 500°C.One-step pyrolysis produced bio-oil with complex composition and low high heating value(HHV 30.9 MJ/kg). Fractional pyrolysis separated the degradation of different components in Cyanobacteria and improved the selectivity to products in bio-oil. That is, acids at 200°C, amides and acids at 300°C, phenols and nitriles at 400°C, and phenols at 500°C, were got as main products, respectively. HZSM-5 could promote the dehydration, cracking and aromatization of pyrolytic intermediates in fractional pyrolysis. At optimal HZSM-5 catalyst dosage of 1.0 g, the selectivity to products and the quality of bio-oil were improved obviously. The main products in bio-oil changed to nitriles(47.2%) at 300°C,indoles(51.3%) and phenols(36.3%) at 400°C. The oxygen content was reduced to 7.2 wt% and 9.4 wt%, and the HHV was raised to 38.1and 37.3 MJ/kg at 300 and 400°C, respectively. | 13 | Preparation of high concentration polyaluminum chloride with high content of Al_b or Al_c显示文摘A novel membrane distillation concentration method was used to prepare high concentration polyaluminum chloride (PACl) with high content of Alb or Alc. 2.52 mol/L PACl1 with 88% Alb and 2.38 mol/L PACl2 with 61% Alc were successfully prepared. Three coagulants, AlCl3, PACl1 and PACl2 were investigated on their hydrolysis behavior and speciation under different conditions. The effects of pH and dilution ratio on Al species distribution were investigated by ferron assay. Experimental result showed that pH had a significant effect on Al species distribution for the three coagulants. Dilution ratio had little effects on Alb and Alc distribution in whole dilution process except the beginning for PACl1 and PACl2. The results indicated that transformation of Al depends largely on their original composition. AlCl3 was the most unstable coagulant among these three coagulants during hydrolysis process. | 14 | Joint head pose and facial landmark regression from depth images显示文摘This paper presents a joint head pose and facial landmark regression method with input from depth images for realtime application. Our main contributions are: firstly, a joint optimization method to estimate head pose and facial landmarks, i.e., the pose regression result provides supervised initialization for cascaded facial landmark regression, while the regression result for the facial landmarks can also help to further refine the head pose at each stage. Secondly,we classify the head pose space into 9 sub-spaces, and then use a cascaded random forest with a global shape constraint for training facial landmarks in each specific space. This classification-guided method can effectively handle the problem of large pose changes and occlusion.Lastly, we have built a 3D face database containing 73 subjects, each with 14 expressions in various head poses. Several molecular genetic tools have been developed in the past few decades to study this microorganism. These tools have been instrumental in understanding how M. tuberculosis became a successful pathogen. Advanced molecular genetic tools have played a significant role in exploring the complex pathways involved in M. tuberculosis pathogenesis. Here, we review various molecular genetic tools used in the study of M. tuberculosis. Further, we discuss the applications of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat interference(CRISPRi), a novel technology recently applied in M. tuberculosis research to study target gene functions. | 18 | Construction of Highly Emissive Pt(Ⅱ) Metallacycles upon Irradiation显示文摘Photoswitchable or photoactivatable fluorescent species have been found wide applications within supramolecular chemistry and materials science.In this study,we successfully constructed two highly emissive Pt(Ⅱ)metallacycles from the diarylethene ligands via coordination-driven self-assembly.Different from the most known fluorescent metallacycles,the obtained metallacycles have displayed'turn-on'fluorescence switching.They are non-fluorescent in solution,but they emit highly yellow or orange fluorescence under ultraviolet irradiation.The metallacycles were well characterized by 1H NMR,31P NMR and ESI-TOF-MS.The photochromic properties of the resultant metallacycles were investigated by 1H NMR,31P NMR,UV/Vis spectrum and fluorescence spectrum.Notably,NMR studies revealed that these two metallacycles featured excellent cyclization efficiency(90% conversion efficiency).Moreover,the closed-ring isomers of the metallacycles displayed relatively high quantum yield(ФF=0.5).DFT simulations demonstrated that the antiparallel configuration of the diarylethene ligand had an angle closed to 120°,which was more stable in energy compared to the parallel configuration,thus allowing for the facile construction of highly emissive metallacycles.We believe that such highly emissive metallacycles which are in-situ prepared upon irradiation can be used as new fluorescence materials for sensing and bioimaging in the future. | Yi Qin Ying Zhang Guangqiang Yin Yuxuan Wang Changwei Zhang Lijun Chen Hongwei Tan Xiaopeng Li Lin Xu Haibo Yang | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Chemistry2019,37,4: | 2 |
