1Holocene climatic change in Hunshandake Desert显示文摘Research on the geological data of Hunshan-dake Desert in China monsoon region revealed that Holocene summer monsoon had experienced six prevailing periods and seven weakening periods. The climatic humidity and the vegetation had also undergone the similar periodical varia-tion influenced by the monsoon periodicity. The period when summer monsoon prevailed or winter monsoon weakened and climatic humidity and vegetation coverage relatively increased, corresponded to the global warming events; whereas the period when summer monsoon weakened or winter monsoon prevailed and climatic humidity and vegeta-tion coverage relatively decreased, corresponded to the arid events in middle to low latitudes and the cold events in North Atlantic. 2Immobilization of Cu2+and Cd2+by earthworm manure derived biochar in acidic circumstance显示文摘Earthworm manure, the by-product obtained from the disposing of biowastes by earthworm breeding, is largely produced and employed as a feedstock for biochar preparation through pyrolysis. For repairing acidic soil or acidic electroplating effluent,biochar physicochemical properties would suffer from some changes like an acidic washing process, which hence affected its application functions. Pristine biochar(UBC)from pyrolysis of earthworm manure at 700°C and biochar treated by HCl(WBC) were comparatively investigated regarding their physicochemical properties, adsorption capability and adsorption mechanism of Cu^(2+) and Cd^(2+) from aqueous solution to explore the immobilization characteristics of biochar in acidic environment. After HCl treatment,the soluble ash content and phenolic-OH in the WBC sample was notably decreased against the increase of the carboxyl C_O, aromatic C_C and Si–O–Si, compared to that of UBC. All adsorption processes can be well described by Langmuir isotherm model. The calculated maximum adsorption capacity of Cu^(2+) and Cd^(2+) adsorption on UBC were 36.56 and 29.31 mg/g, respectively, which were higher than that of WBC(8.64 and 12.81 mg/g,respectively), indicating that HCl treatment significantly decreased biochar adsorption ability. Mechanism analysis revealed that alkali and alkaline earth metallic, salts(carbonates, phosphates and silicates), and surface functional groups were responsible for UBC adsorption, corresponding to ion exchange, precipitation and complexation,respectively. However, ion exchange made little contributions to WBC adsorption due to the great loss of soluble ash content. 3BEHAVIOR OF CHO CELLS ON MODIFIED POLYPROPYLENE BY LOW TEMPERATURE AMMONIA PLASMA显示文摘The surface of polypropylene (PP) membrane was modified by low temperature plasma with ammonia. The effect of exposure time was investigated by means of contact angle measurement. The results show that low temperature ammonia plasma treatment can enhance its hydrophilicity. 5Zircon U-Pb Ages of Bottom and Top Parts of the Zhangjiakou Formation in Lingyuan Area(West Liaoning Province) and Luanping Area (North Hebei Province) and Their Significance显示文摘In Lingyuan region of West Liaoning Province, the Zhangjiakou Formation (J3z) and the Yixian Formation (K1y) display an angular unconformity. That is, the Lower Mesozoic strata of the Zhangjiakou Formation are ENE (near E-W) oriented, while the overlying strata of the Yixian Formation exhibit an NNE orientation. The results of LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb ages show the Zhangjiakou Formation formed from about 130 Ma to 132 Ma in Lingyuan and 135 Ma to 136 Ma in Luanping (North Hebei Province), respectively. Three conclusions can be drawn: (1) The Zhangjiakou Formation in Lingyuan is comparable to that in Luanping, with the volcanic rocks of the Zhangjiakou Formation from Lingyuan being younger than those from Luanping. (2) 5-6 Ma difference between the top of the Zhangjiakou Formation and the bottom of the Yixian Formation in Lingyuan proves the angular unconformity between the two formations; and it reflects that the 5-6 Ma interval period is the main period of the transition of tectonic framework in Mesozoic in North Hebei and West Liaoning. In the interval period, the magmatic action went up to high tide in Mesozoic in the northeast of China. Moreover, after the interval period, the “Rehe fauna” developed into “erupted” period. This reflects that the interval period is also an important biological interface in Northern Hebei and Western Liaoning. 6A new route for length measurement by phase-shifting interferometry显示文摘By the mathematic models of flexible hinge,the accurate relationship between the phase-shifting and pressure acting on the hinge is deduced and verified by experimental results.Through the optimization of the geometric parameter of flexible hinge,a phase-shifting generator is developed to determine the length of an object precisely by interferometry.The experiments show that the triple phase-shifting produced using this generator is up to 1 m.With this generator,an example for the application in length measurement is introduced.The result shows the length uncertainty is 0.5 nm when the temperature uncertainty is limited in 2 mK.This paper provides a novel technique to measure the dimension of an object,especially to the diameter of a silicon sphere for Avogadro constant project.LUO ZhiYong LI ZhangHong 2012Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2012,55,4:3
7Persistent organic pollutants control strategy in China显示文摘The development of Persistent Organic Pollutants(POPs) control policy in China in the context of international concerns on POPs was reviewed. The aspects of the Chinese POPs control strategies were analyzed, and compared with those of developed counterparts (e.g. US, EU, Japan). Currently, while the legal framework on POPs management, which complies with international guidelines has been established, it should be improved in the areas of special POPs management, risk assessment, the precautionary principle, life-cycle management and technical support capacity. 9SOIL EROSION AND ITS IMPACTS ON ENVIRONMENT IN YIXING TEA PLANTATION OF JIANGSU PROVINCE显示文摘Soil erosion on sloping field has led to a lot of environmental prob lems. In order to reveal the seriousness of the damage of soil erosion on slopin g fields 137Cs tracer method was used to estimate soil erosion rate. 137Cs refer ence inventory of 2200Bq/m2 in Yixing, southern Jiangsu Province, was estimated and a model for estimating erosion of cultivated soil was established in order t o avoid overestimating soil erosion rates. Then based on the soil erosion rates and measured soil physical and chemical properties, direct and indirect impacts of soil erosion on environment were further discussed. Direct impacts of erosion on environment included on-site and off-site impacts. The on-site impacts we re that soil layer became thin, soil structure was deteriorated and soil nutrien ts decreased. The off-site impacts were that water bodies were polluted. The in direct impacts of soil erosion on environment were the increase of fertilizer ap plication and energy consumption, and change of adaptability of land uses. 12New approach for screening anti-tumor compounds显示文摘A new screening approach for anticancer active compounds is presented. In this method, a target enzyme is incubated with a mixture of compounds, and then the com-plex formed by the target and small molecules is separated from the rest of the mixture by ultra-filtration. The complex that is retained on the membrane is subsequently washed with acid and small molecules that are specifically bound to the target are released and collected, then analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatograph combined with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HPLC/ESI-MS) analysis. We have successfully applied this method to screen anti-cancer compounds.
