1Solution for polarimetric radar cross section measurement and calibration显示文摘The exact radar cross-section(RCS) measurement is difficult when the scattering of targets is low. Full polarimetric calibration is one technique that offers the potential for improving the accuracy of RCS measurements. There are numerous polarimetric calibration algorithms. Some complex expressions in these algorithms cannot be easily used in an engineering practice. A radar polarimetric coefficients matrix(RPCM) with a simpler expression is presented for the monostatic radar polarization scattering matrix(PSM) measurement. Using a rhombic dihedral corner reflector and a metallic sphere, the RPCM can be obtained by solving a set of equations, which can be used to find the true PSM for any target. 2Increased substitution rate in H5N1 avian influenza viruses during mass vaccination of poultry显示文摘As a means of heated debate,mass vaccination of poultry has been used in some countries to control H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza(HPAI),which remains of global economic and public health significance.Theoretically,mass vaccination can act as an evolutionary selective force facilitating the emergence of vaccine-resistant viruses,similar to that widespread use of antibiotics facilitates the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.To support the hypothesis,the substitution rates in the two subunits,HA1 and HA2,of the viral hemagglutinin gene,were calculated using a Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo(MCMC) approach.It was found that the rate in the HA1 subunit,but not in the HA2 subunit,increased significantly during periods of mass vaccination(2005 2010 in China and 2003 2009 in Indonesia),in contrast to the periods when no mass vaccination programs took place(1996 2004 in China and 2004 2008 in Thailand).Because substitutions in the HA1 subunit rather than in the HA2 subunit can lead to vaccine-resistant viruses,the results support that mass vaccination programs facilitate the emergence of vaccine-resistant viruses,which,in turn,will render mass vaccination programs less effective.Therefore,caution must be taken when adopting mass vaccination as a long-term strategy to control HPAI.WANG ZhaoGuo JIANG WenMing LIU Shuo HOU GuangYu LI JinPing WANG ZhiYu CHEN JiMing 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,19:3
3Application of DFT in bi-static RCS calculation of complex electrically large targets显示文摘To handle the electromagnetic problems of the bi-static radar cross section(RCS) calculation of scatterer in a wide frequency band, a finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) extrapolation method combining with discrete Fourier transform(DFT) is proposed. By comparing the formulas between the steady state field extrapolation method and the transient field extrapolation method,a novel extrapolation method combining with DFT used in FDTD is proposed when a transient field incident wave is introduced. With the proposed method, the full-angle RCS distribution in a wide frequency band can be achieved through one-time FDTD calculation.Afterwards, the back-scattering RCS distributions of a double olive body and a sphere-cone body are calculated.
