1Meeting 24-h movement guidelines: Prevalence, correlates, and the relationships with overweight and obesity among Chinese children and adolescents显示文摘Background:Meeting 24-h movement guidelines by children and adolescents has been associated with improved indicators of health,although it has been under-studied in China.Hence,this study aimed to investigate the prevalence of meeting the 24-h movement guidelines,its correlates,and its relationships with body mass index in children and adolescents in China.Methods:Cross-sectional data from the 2017 Youth Study in China of 114,072 children and adolescents(mean age=13.75 years,49.18%boys)were used.Meeting 24-h movement guidelines(60 min of daily moderate-to-vigorous physical activity,2 h of daily leisure screen time,911 h and 810 h nightly sleep duration for 613-year-olds and 1417-year-olds,respectively)and height and weight of all participants were assessed.The prevalence of meeting the 24-h movement guidelines and World Health Organization weight status categories were determined.Generalized linear models were used to determine the correlates of meeting the 24-h movement guidelines and the relationships of meeting the 24-h movement guidelines with overweight(OW)and obesity(OB).Results:Only 5.12%of Chinese children and adolescents met the 24-h movement guidelines,and 22.44%were classified as OW/OB.Older children and adolescents were less likely to meet the 24-h movement guidelines.Parental education level and family income were positively related to meeting the 24-h movement guidelines.Children and adolescents meeting the 24-h movement guidelines showed lower odds ratios for OW/OB.Compared with participants meeting the 24-h movement guidelines,boys in 4th6th grades met none of the recommendations(OR=1.22,95%CI:1.061.40),met the screen time recommendation only(OR=1.13,95%CI:1.011.28),met the nightly sleep duration recommendation only(OR=1.14,95%CI:1.031.28),and had significantly higher odds ratios for OW/OB.Similar trends were observed for girls in 4th6th grades:meeting none of the guidelines(OR=1.35,95%CI:1.141.59),meeting sleep duration guidelines only(OR=1.23,95%CI:1.081.39),and meeting moderate-to-vigorous physical activity+nightly sleep duration guidelines(OR=1.24,95%CI:1.011.54).For girls in 7th9th grades,the following trend was observed:meeting none of the guidelines(OR=1.30,95%CI:1.011.67).Conclusion:Very few Chinese children and adolescents met the 24-h movement guidelines.Age(negatively correlated),parental education level,and family income(both positively correlated)were correlates of meeting the 24-h movement guidelines.Children and adolescents meeting the 24-h movement guidelines were more likely to have lower risks for OW/OB,especially in the youngest age group(Grades 46);and girls in the middle age group(Grades 79)were also more likely to have lower risks for OW/OB.Further research studies should explore additional correlates and determinants for meeting the 24-h movement guidelines.Also,future studies should use longitudinal or interventional designs to determine the relationships between meeting the 24-h movement guidelines and OW/OB and other health indicators,while taking sex and age differences into account.Si-Tong Chen Yang Liu Mark S.Tremblay Jin-Tao Hong Yan Tang Zhen-Bo Cao Jie Zhuang Zheng Zhu Xueping Wu Lijuan Wang Yujun Cai Peijie Chen 2021Journal of Sport and Health Science2021,10,3:12

4Combination of magnesium ions and vitamin C alleviates synovitis and osteophyte formation in osteoarthritis of mice显示文摘Introduction:We previously demonstrated that magnesium ions(Mg^(2+))was a novel therapeutic alternative for osteoarthritis(OA)through promoting the hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)-mediated cartilage matrix synthesis.However,oxidative stress can inhibit the expression of HIF-1α,amplify the inflammation that potentially impairs the therapeutic efficacy of Mg^(2+) in OA.Vitamin(VC),a potent antioxidant,may enhance the efficacy of Mg^(2+) in OA treatment.This study aims to investigate the efficacy of combination of Mg^(2+)and VC on alleviating joint destruction and pain in OA.Material and methods:Anterior cruciate ligament transection with partial medial meniscectomy induced mice OA model were randomly received intra-articular injection of either saline,MgCl2(0.5 mol/L),VC(3 mg/ml)or MgCl2(0.5 mol/L)plus VC(3 mg/ml)at week 2 post-operation,twice weekly,for 2 weeks.Joint pain and pathological changes were assessed by gait analysis,histology,western blotting and micro-CT.Results:Mg^(2+) and VC showed additive effects to significantly alleviate the joint destruction and pain.The efficacy of this combined therapy could sustain for 3 months after the last injection.We demonstrated that VC enhanced the promotive effect of Mg^(2+) on HIF-1αexpression in cartilage.Additionally,combination of Mg^(2+) and VC markedly promoted the M2 polarization of macrophages in synovium.Furthermore,combination of Mg^(2+) and VC inhibited osteophyte formation and expressions of pain-related neuropeptides.Conclusions:Intra-articular administration of Mg^(2+)and VC additively alleviates joint destruction and pain in OA.Our current formulation may be a cost-effective alternative treatment for OA.Hao Yao Jiankun Xu Jiali Wang Yifeng Zhang Nianye Zheng Jiang Yue Jie Mi Lizhen Zheng Bingyang Dai Wenhan Huang Shuhang Yung Peijie Hu Yechun Ruan Qingyun Xue Kiwai Ho Ling Qin 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,5:1

8Magnesium implantation or supplementation ameliorates bone disorder in CFTR-mutant mice through an ATF4-dependent Wnt/β-catenin signaling显示文摘Magnesium metal and its alloys are being developed as effective orthopedic implants;however,the mechanisms underlying the actions of magnesium on bones remain unclear.Cystic fibrosis,the most common genetic disease in Caucasians caused by the mutation of CFTR,has shown bone disorder as a key clinical manifestation,which currently lacks effective therapeutic options.Here we report that implantation of magnesium-containing implant stimulates bone formation and improves bone fracture healing in CFTR-mutant mice.Wnt/β-catenin signaling in the bone is enhanced by the magnesium implant,and inhibition of Wnt/β-catenin by iCRT14 blocks the magnesium implant to improve fracture healing in CFTR-mutant mice.We further demonstrate that magnesium ion enters osteocytes,increases intracellular cAMP level and activates ATF4,a key transcription factor known to regulate Wnt/β-catenin signaling.In vivo knockdown of ATF4 abolishes the magnesium implant-activated β-catenin in bones and reverses the improved-fracture healing in CFTR-mutant mice.In addition,oral supplementation of magnesium activates ATF4 and β-catenin as well as enhances bone volume and density in CFTR-mutant mice.Together,these results show that magnesium implantation or supplementation may serve as a potential anabolic therapy for cystic fibrosis-related bone disease.Activation of ATF4-dependent Wnt/β-catenin signaling in osteocytes is identified as a previously undefined mechanism underlying the beneficial effect of magnesium on bone formation.Jiankun Xu Peijie Hu Xiaotian Zhang Junjiang Chen Jiali Wang Jieting Zhang Ziyi Chen Mei Kuen Yu Yiu Wa Chung Yan Wang Xiaohu Zhang Yifeng Zhang Nianye Zheng Hao Yao Jiang Yue Hsiao Chang Chan Ling Qin Ye Chun Ruan 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,2:0
9Quantum phase transition and destruction of Kondo effect in pressurized SmB6显示文摘SmB_6 has been a well-known Kondo insulator for decades, but recently attracts extensive new attention as a candidate topological system. Studying SmB_6 under pressure provides an opportunity to acquire the much-needed understanding about the effect of electron correlations on both the metallic surface state and bulk insulating state. Here we do so by studying the evolution of two transport gaps(low temperature gap E_l and high temperature gap E_h) associated with the Kondo effect by measuring the electrical resistivity under high pressure and low temperature(0.3 K) conditions. We associate the gaps with the bulk Kondo hybridization, and from their evolution with pressure we demonstrate an insulator-tometal transition at ~4 GPa. At the transition pressure, a large change in the Hall number and a divergence tendency of the electron-electron scattering coefficient provide evidence for a destruction of the Kondo entanglement in the ground state.
