Criteria for hypersonic airbreathing propulsion and its experimental verification显示文摘Hypersonic airbreathing propulsion is one of the top techniques for future aerospace flight, but there are still no practical engines after seventy years’ development. Two critical issues are identified to be the barriers for the ramjet-based engine that has been taken as the most potential concept of the hypersonic propulsion for decades. One issue is the upstream-traveling shock wave that develops from spontaneous waves resulting from continuous heat releases in combustors and can induce unsteady combustion that may lead to engine surging during scramjet engine operation. The other is the scramjet combustion mode that cannot satisfy thrust needs of hypersonic vehicles since its thermos-efficiency decreases as the flight Mach number increases. The two criteria are proposed for the ramjet-based hypersonic propulsion to identify combustion modes and avoid thermal choking. A standing oblique detonation ramjet(Sodramjet) engine concept is proposed based on the criteria by replacing diffusive combustion with an oblique detonation that is a unique pressure-gain phenomenon in nature. The Sodramjet engine model is developed with several flow control techniques, and tested successfully with the hypersonic flight-duplicated shock tunnel. The experimental data show that the Sodramjet engine model works steadily, and an oblique detonation can be made stationary in the engine combustor and is controllable. This research demonstrates the Sodramjet engine is a promising concept and can be operated stably with high thermal efficiency at hypersonic flow conditions. | Zonglin JIANG Zijian ZHANG Yunfeng LIU Chun WANG Changtong LUO | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,3: | 9
Active Fault Exploration and Seismic Hazard Assessment in Fuzhou City显示文摘It has been proven by a number of earthquake case studies that an active fault-induced earthquake beneath a city can be devastating. It is an urgent issue for seismic hazard reduction to explore the distribution of active faults beneath the urban area and identify the seismic source and the risks underneath. As a pilot project of active fault exploration in China, the project, entitled “Active fault exploration and seismic hazard assessment in Fuzhou City', started in early 2001 and passed the check before acceptance of China Earthquake Administration in August 2004. The project was aimed to solve a series of scientific issues such as fault location, dating, movement nature, deep settings, seismic risk and hazard, preparedness of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction, and etc. by means of exploration and assessment of active faults by stages, i.e., the preliminary survey and identification of active faults in target area, the exploration of deep seismotectonic settings, the risk evaluation of active seismogenic faults, the construction of geographic information system of active faults, and so on. A lot of exploration methods were employed in the project such as the detection of absorbed mercury, free mercury and radon in soil, the geological radar, multi-channel DC electrical method, tsansient electromagnetic method, shallow seismic refraction and reflection, effect contrast of explored sources, and various sounding experiments, to establish the buried Quaternary standard section of the Fuzhou basin. By summing up, the above explorations and experiments have achieved the following results and conclusions: (1)The results of the synthetic pilot project of active fault exploration in Fuzhou City demonstrate that, on the basis of sufficient collection, sorting out and analysis of geological, geophysical and borehole data, the best method for active fault exploration (location) and seismic risk assessment (dating and characterizing) in urban area is the combination of various approaches, that is, the possible location of active fault determined by using geochemical exploration as a guide “scout', the shallow seismic sounding as the main tool, the electromagnetic method as a supplement, establishing the standard Quaternary profile or stratigraphic sequence from drilling and various geophysical parameters from borehole logs as methods to correct and verify the data above. And in addition, the method also includes the field surveys on fault exposures, trenching, paleoearthquake investigation, dating and comparison of lithology, strata sequence, absolute or relative ages of the cores on the two sides of buried faults. (2)The Fuzhou basin locates under the regional seismotectonic settings which have the potential of moderate earthquake. Comparatively, the region is less affected by the “Taiwan dynamic Antenna'; (3)The activity of the major faults in Fuzhou basin is weak in general. All the six identified target faults are not Holocene faults, among which the Bayi Reservoir-Shanggan fault and the Minhou-Nanyu fault are dormant at least since the mid Epipleistocene time, and the rest are dormant since the Epipleistocene time; (4)In terms of deep-seated structures beneath the basin, there is no evidence indicating the possible occurrence of the underneath strong destructive earthquakes. The adjacent Changle-Zhao’an fault zone is the potential seismic source which may possibly affect Fuzhou City; (5)There exists potential of moderate-strong earthquake on the major faults of the region, but the probability is low; (6)The seismic hazards are weak in the region and the surface earthquake fractures are not likely to occur; (7)The first geographic information system of active faults is developed with functions of information query and display, data management, analysis and processing, etc. | Zhu Jinfang Huang Zonglin Xu Xiwei Zheng Rongzhang Fang Shengmin Bai Denghai Wang Guangcai Min Wei Wen Xueze Han Zhujun | 2005 | Earthquake Research in China2005,19,3: | 7
Study on Mach stems induced by interaction of planar shock waves on two intersecting wedges显示文摘The properties of Mach stems in hypersonic corner flow induced by Mach interaction over 3D intersecting wedges were studied theoretically and numerically.A new method called 'spatial dimension reduction' was used to analyze theoretically the location and Mach number behind Mach stems. By using this approach, the problem of 3D steady shock/shock interaction over 3D intersecting wedges was transformed into a 2D moving one on cross sections, which can be solved by shock-polar theory and shock dynamics theory. The properties of Mach interaction over 3D intersecting wedges can be analyzed with the new method, including pressure, temperature, density in the vicinity of triple points, location, and Mach number behind Mach stems.Theoretical results were compared with numerical results, and good agreement was obtained. Also, the influence of Mach number and wedge angle on the properties of a 3D Mach stem was studied. | Gaoxiang Xiang Chun Wang Honghui Teng Yang Yang Zonglin Jiang | 2016 | Acta Mechanica Sinica2016,32,3: | 6
Shock/shock interactions between bodies and wings显示文摘This paper examines the Shock/Shock Interactions(SSI)between the body and wing of aircraft in supersonic flows. The body is simplified to a flat wedge and the wing is assumed to be a sharp wing. The theoretical spatial dimension reduction method, which transforms the 3D problem into a 2D one,is used to analyze the SSI between the body and wing. The temperature and pressure behind the Mach stem induced by the wing and body are obtained, and the wave configurations in the corner are determined.Numerical validations are conducted by solving the inviscid Euler equations in 3D with a Non-oscillatory and Non-free-parameters Dissipative(NND)finite difference scheme.Good agreements between the theoretical and numerical results are obtained.Additionally, the effects of the wedge angle and sweep angle on wave configurations and flow field are considered numerically and theoretically. The influences of wedge angle are significant, whereas the effects of sweep angle on wave configurations are negligible. This paper provides useful information for the design and thermal protection of aircraft in supersonic and hypersonic flows. | Gaoxiang XIANG Chun WANG Honghui TENG Zonglin JIANG | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2018,31,2: | 5
Aerodynamic force and moment measurement of 10°half-angle cone in JF12 shock tunnel显示文摘An aerodynamic force and moment measurement was conducted in JF12 long-testduration detonation-driven shock tunnel of Institute of Mechanics,Chinese Academy of Sciences. The test duration of JF12 is 100–130 ms.The nominal Mach number is 7.0 and the exit diameter of the contoured nozzle is 2.5 m.The total enthalpy is 2.5 MJ/kg which duplicates the hypersonic flight conditions of Mach number 7.0 at 35 km altitude. The test model is the standard aerodynamic force model of 10° half-angle sharp cone. The length of the test model is 1500 mm and the weight is 57 kg.The aerodynamic forces were measured with a six-component strain balance. The angles of attack were set to be à5°,0°,5°,10° and 14°,respectively.The experimental results show that in the 100–130 ms test duration, the signals of strain balance have 3–4 complete vibration cycles. So,the aerodynamic forces and moments can be obtained directly by averaging the signals of balance without acceleration compensation. The force measurement error of repeatability of JF12 is less than 2%.The aerodynamic force coefficients of JF12 are in good agreement with those of conventional hypersonic wind tunnels. For this test model at Mach number 7.0 and total enthalpy of 2.5 MJ/kg,the real-gas effects on aerodynamic force characteristics are not very evident. | Yunfeng LIU Yunpeng WANG Chaokai YUAN Changtong LUO Zonglin JIANG | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,3: | 5
Fucoxanthin Isolated from Undaria pinnatifida Can Interact with Escherichia coli and lactobacilli in the Intestine and Inhibit the Growth of Pathogenic Bacteria显示文摘Fucoxanthin is a xanthophyll-type carotenoid that provides many benefits to human health. However, the mechanism by which fucoxanthin interacts with microbes and inhibits pathogenic bacteria is unknown. In this study, we investigated the effects of fucoxanthin isolated from the edible seaweed Undaria pinnatifida on pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli and lactobacilli both in vitro and in vivo. Fucoxanthin strongly inhibited the growth of Gram-positive pathogenic bacteria but was less effective against Gram-negative bacteria. Fucoxanthin extracted from the crude mixture had a recovery rate of 93.38% and a purity of 82.70%, which were higher than those of fucoxanthin extracted using a previous method. Fucoxanthin also promoted the growth of intestinal mi- crobes in mice. Fucoxanthinol, a metabolite of fucoxanthin, was generated in the culture media. Fucoxanthin can be deacetylated into fucoxanthinol not only by conventional digestive enzymes in the digestive tract, but also by E. coli and lactobacilli in the intestine. These results indicate that fucoxanthin interacts with and influences E. coli and lactobacilli in the intestine. Therefore, fucoxanthin isolated from Undaria pinnatifida possibly can be applied in human health maintenance. | LIU Zonglin SUN Xiaowen SUN Xun WANG Shuhui XU Ying | 2019 | Journal of Ocean University of China2019,18,4: | 5
Assembly of long DNA sequences using a new synthetic Escherichia coli-yeast shuttle vector显示文摘Synthetic biology is a newly developed field of research focused on designing and rebuilding novel biomolecular components, circuits, and networks. Synthetic biology can also help understand biological principles and engineer complex artificial metabolic systems. DNA manipulation on a large genome-wide scale is an inevitable challenge, but a necessary tool for synthetic biology. To improve the methods used for the synthesis of long DNA fragments, here we constructed a novel shuttle vector named p GF(plasmid Genome Fast) for DNA assembly in vivo. The BAC plasmid p CC1 BAC, which can accommodate large DNA molecules, was chosen as the backbone. The sequence of the yeast artificial chromosome(YAC) regulatory element CEN6-ARS4 was synthesized and inserted into the plasmid to enable it to replicate in yeast. The selection sequence HIS3, obtained by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) from the plasmid p BS313, was inserted for screening. This new synthetic shuttle vector can mediate the transformation-associated recombination(TAR) assembly of large DNA fragments in yeast, and the assembled products can be transformed into Escherichia coli for further amplification. We also conducted in vivo DNA assembly using p GF and yeast homologous recombination and constructed a 31-kb long DNA sequence from the cyanophage PP genome. Our findings show that this novel shuttle vector would be a useful tool for efficient genome-scale DNA reconstruction. | Zheng Hou Zheng Zhou Zonglin Wang Gengfu Xiao | 2016 | Virologica Sinica2016,31,2: | 3
Advances in critical technologies for hypersonic and high-enthalpy wind tunnel显示文摘Hypersonic and high-enthalpy wind tunnels and their measurement techniques are the cornerstone of the hypersonic flight era that is a dream for human beings to fly faster, higher and further. The great progress has been achieved during the recent years and their critical technologies are still in an urgent need for further development. There are at least four kinds of hypersonic and high-enthalpy wind tunnels that are widely applied over the world and can be classified according to their operation modes. These wind tunnels are named as air-directly-heated hypersonic wind tunnel,light-gas-heated shock tunnel,free-piston-driven shock tunnel and detonation-driven shock tunnel, respectively. The critical technologies for developing the wind tunnels are introduced in this paper, and their merits and weakness are discussed based on wind tunnel performance evaluation.Measurement techniques especially developed for high-enthalpy flows are a part of the hypersonic wind tunnel technology because the flow is a chemically reacting gas motion and its diagnosis needs specially designed instruments.Three kinds of the measurement techniques considered to be of primary importance are introduced here, including the heat flux sensor, the aerodynamic balance, and optical diagnosis techniques. The techniques are developed usually for conventional wind tunnels, but further improved for hypersonic and high-enthalpy tunnels. The hypersonic ground test facilities have provided us with most of valuable experimental data on high-enthalpy flows and will play a more important role in hypersonic research area in the future. Therefore, several prospects for developing hypersonic and high-enthalpy wind tunnels are presented from our point of view. | Zonglin JIANG Zongmin HU Yunpeng WANG Guilai HAN | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,12: | 3

Global weak solutions to Landau-Lifshitz equations into compact Lie algebras显示文摘We consider a parabolic system from a bounded domain in a Euclidean space or a closed Riernannian manifold into a unit sphere in a compact Lie algebra g,which can be viewed as the extension of Landau-Lifshitz(LL)equation and was proposed by V.Arnold.We follow the ideas taken from the work by the second author to show the existence of global weak solutions to the Cauchy problems of such LL equations from an n-dimensional closed Riernannian manifold T or a bounded domain in R^n into a unit sphere Sg(1)in g.In particular,we consider the Hamiltonian system associated with the nonlocal energy micromagnetic energy defined on a bounded domain of R^31 and show the initial-boundary value problem to such LL equation without damping terms admits a global weak solution. The key ingredient of this article consists of the choices of test functions and approximate equations. | Zonglin JIA Youde WANG | 2019 | Frontiers of Mathematics in China2019,14,6: | 1
Combined DFT and experiment:Stabilizing the electrochemical interfaces via boron Lewis acids显示文摘The incorporation of boron into carbon material can significantly enhance its capacity performances. However, the origin of the promotion effect of boron doping on electrochemical performances is still unclear,in part due to the inadequate exposure of boron configurations resulting from the complexity of traditional carbon materials. To overcome this issue, herein,a series of boron-doped graphene with highly-exposed boron configurations are prepared by tuning annealing temperature. Then the correlation between boron configurations and the electrochemical performances is investigated. The combination of density-functional theory(DFT)computation and NH3-TPD/Py-FTIR indicates that the BCO_(2)configuration formed on the surface of graphene is easier to accept lone-pair electrons than BC_(2)O and BC_(3)configurations due to the stronger Lewis acidity.Such an electronic structure can effectively reduce the number of unstable electron donors and stabilize the electrochemical interface, which is proved by NMR,and critical for improving the electrochemical performances.Further experiments confirm that the optimized BG800 with the largest amount of BCO_(2)configuration presents ultralow leak current, improved cyclic stability, and better rate performance in SBPBF4/PC.This work would provide an insight into the design of high-performance boron-doped carbon materials towards energy storage. | Zhe-Fan Wang Zonglin Yi Aziz Ahmad Lijing Xie Jing-Peng Chen Qingqiang Kong Fangyuan Su Da-Wei Wang Cheng-Meng Chen | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,8: | 1

Extraction of flocculants from a strain of Bacillus thuringiensis and analysis of their properties显示文摘In a preliminary screening study, our laboratory isolated from the biofloc in aquaculture waters a strain of Bacillus thuringiensis, which produced highly efficient bio-flocculants.In the present study,we extracted the crude flocculants from this strain and analyzed their properties.Distribution analysis indicated that the flocculants were mainly distributed in the supernatant of the fermentation liquid. The flocculants were extracted using an ethanol extraction method, and the chemical compositions and morphology of the crude flocculants were analyzed using the Molish reaction,Fehling reaction, ninhydrin reaction, biuret reaction,phenol-sulfuric acid assay,Coomassie brilliant blue staining, ultraviolet scanning, infrared scanning and scanning electron microscopy. The carbohydrate composition of the polysaccharides in the flocculants was analyzed with thin layer chromatography. The results indicated that flocculants were solid substances with an ivory white color and their texture was loose and soft.Visualization under scanning electron microscopy revealed that their ultra-morphology consisted of small, long and fiber-like shapes.Chemical and physical analyses indicated that polysaccharides accounted for 34.5%of the components in the crude flocculants. The monosaccharides present in crude flocculants included mainly glucose, galactose and mannitose. | Jingrong Wu Guangjun Wang Zhifei Li Ermeng Yu Jun Xie Zonglin Zheng | 2017 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2017,2,4: | 1
Experimental monitoring of the strengthening construction of a segmental box girder bridge and field testing of external prestressing tendons anchorage显示文摘Prestressed concrete segmental box girder bridges are composed of short concrete segments that are either precast or cast in situ and then joined together by longitudinally post-tensioning internal, external,or mixed tendons. The objectives of this study are to monitor the construction process of the external prestressing tendons to strengthen the bridge structure and perform a field load test to measure the strain and the deflection of the anchorage devices of the external prestressing tendons to determine the state of these devices after tension forces are applied. The monitoring process of the external prestressing tendons construction includes inspecting the cracks in the diaphragm anchorage and the deviation block devices before the tension forces are applied to the external tendons;measuring the deformation of the steel deviation cross beam during the tension process;measuring the deformation of the box girder after different levels of tension forces are applied;measuring the elongation of the external tendons in each level of the tension;and measuring the natural frequency of the external tendons after the tension process is complete. The results of the monitoring process show that the measured values of the deformation, the elongation, and the natural frequency meet the requirements. Therefore, there is no damage during the construction and the tensioning of the external prestressing tendons.A field load test is performed to the anchorage beam, the steel deviation block devices, and the steel deviation cross beam. The field load test results of the anchorage devices show that the values of the strains, the stresses, and the deflection are less than the respective allowable limit values in the requirements. Therefore, the anchorage devices have sufficient strength, and the working state is good after the tension forces are applied to the external prestressing tendons. | Ali Fadhil NASER Zonglin WANG | 2012 | Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2012,6,3: | 1

Performance of Copper Calorimeter for Heat Transfer Measurement in High Enthalpy Shock Tunnel显示文摘Copper calorimeter, based on a calorimetric principle, offers a solution for heat transfer measurement in high enthalpy situation, especially in the erosive flow of high enthalpy shock tunnels. In this study, we numerically investigated the measuring performance of copper calorimeters. Non-ideal effects, such as heat loss to the insulator around and replacement of the average temperature of the copper element by the junction temperature, were discussed in detail. The influences of copper element thickness, copper/constantan wires thickness and sensor diameter were also estimated, with the aim to provide theoretical guidance for the design of copper calorimeter. In addition, corresponding experiments in JF10 high enthalpy shock tunnel were carried out against the data of coaxial thermocouples for verification. Results showed that the non-ideal thermal environment of a copper calorimeter(heat exchange with its surroundings) would result in a smaller measuring heat flux comparing to the one actually loaded; proper thickness of copper element matching the effective test time of shock tunnel was suggested. Besides, preliminary experimental results with corrections showed reasonable agreement with the heat flux of thermocouples, with an average deviation of 8%. Over all, this gauge developed extends and supplements the high enthalpy shock tunnel heat transfer measurements made by other techniques. | WANG Qiu LI Jiwei LI Jinping ZHAO Wei JIANG Zonglin | 2018 | Journal of Thermal Science2018,27,4: | 0
Robust low friction performance of graphene sheets embedded carbon films coated orthodontic stainless steel archwires显示文摘Reducing the friction force between the commercial archwire and bracket during the orthodontic treatment in general dental practice has attracted worldwide interest. An investigation on the friction and wear behaviors of the uncoated and carbon film coated stainless steel archwires running against stainless steel brackets was systematically conducted. The carbon films were prepared at substrate bias voltages from+5 to+50 V using an electron cyclotron resonance plasma sputtering system. With increasing substrate bias voltage, local microstructures of the carbon films evolved from amorphous carbon to graphene nanocrystallites. Both static and stable friction coefficients of the archwire-bracket contacts sliding in dry and wet(artificial saliva)conditions decreased with the deposition of carbon films on the archwires.Low friction coefficient of 0.12 was achieved in artificial saliva environment for the graphene sheets embedded carbon(GSEC)film coated archwire.Deterioration of the friction behavior of the GSEC film coated archwire occurred after immersion of the archwire in artificial saliva solution for different periods before friction test. However, moderate friction coefficient of less than 0.30 sustained after 30 days immersion periods. The low friction mechanism is clarified to be the formation of salivary adsorbed layer and graphene sheets containing tribofilm on the contact interfaces. The robust low friction and low wear performances of the GSEC film coated archwires make them good candidates for clinical orthodontic treatment applications. | Zonglin PAN Qinzhao ZHOU Pengfei WANG Dongfeng DIAO | 2022 | Friction2022,10,1: | 0
