The impacts of conservation agriculture on crop yield in China depend on specific practices, crops and cropping regions显示文摘For smooth and wide application of conservation agriculture(CA), remaining uncertainties about its impacts on crop yield need to be reduced. Based on previous field experiments in China, a meta-analysis was performed to quantify the actual impacts of CA practices(NT: no/reduced-tillage only, CTSR: conventional tillage with straw retention, NTSR: NT with straw retention) on crop yields as compared to conventional tillage without straw retention(CT).Although CA practices increased crop yield by 4.6% on average, there were large variations in their impacts. For each CA practice, CTSR and NTSR significantly increased crop yield by 4.9%and 6.3%, respectively, compared to CT. However, no significant effect was found for NT. Among ecological areas, significant positive effects of CA practices were found in areas with an annual precipitation below 600 mm. Similar effects were found in areas with annual mean air temperature above 5 °C. For cropping regions, CA increased crop yield by 6.4% and 5.5%compared to CT in Northwest and South China, respectively, whereas no significant effects were found in the North China and Northeast China regions. Among crops, the positive effects of CA practices were significantly higher in maize(7.5%) and rice(4.1%) than in wheat(2.9%). NT likely decreased wheat yield. Our results indicate that there are great differences in the impacts of CA practices on crop yield, owing to regional variation in climate and crop types. CA will most likely increase maize yield but reduce wheat yield. It is strongly recommended to apply CA with crop straw retention in maize cropping areas and seasons with a warm and dry climate pattern. | Chengyan Zheng Yu Jiang Changqing Chen Yanni Sun Jinfei Feng Aixing Deng Zhenwei Song Weijian Zhang | 2014 | The Crop Journal2014,2,5: | 15
Preparation and characterization of high-strength calcium silicate boards from coal-fired industrial solid wastes显示文摘To realize the comprehensive utilization of coal-fired industrial solid wastes, a novel high-strength board was prepared from calcium silicate slag, fly ash, and flue gas desulfurization(FGD) gypsum. The changes in mineral phases, chemical structure, and morphology during hydration were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). A traditional board made from quartz and lime was prepared as a reference. The novel board not only consumes a lot of solid wastes, but also meets the strength requirement of the class-five calcium silicate board according to the Chinese Standard JC/T 564.2—2008. Microanalysis showed that hydrated calcium silicate gel(C-S-H(I)), ettringite, tobermorite, and xonotlite were successively generated in the novel board by synergistic hydration of the mixed solid wastes. The board strength was improved by the formation of tobermorite and xonotlite but decreased by unhydrated quartz. It was demonstrated that quartz was not completely hydrated in the traditional board. As a result, the flexural strength of the traditional board was much lower than that of the novel board. | Zhao Cao Yong-dan Cao Jin-shan Zhang Chun-bao Sun Xian-long Li | 2015 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2015,22,8: | 14
Acute kidney injury spectrum in patients with chronic liver disease:Where do we stand?显示文摘Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication of liver cirrhosis and is of the utmost clinical and prognostic relevance. Patients with cirrhosis, especially decompensated cirrhosis, are more prone to develop AKI than those without cirrhosis. The hepatorenal syndrome type of AKI (HRS–AKI), a spectrum of disorders in prerenal chronic liver disease, and acute tubular necrosis (ATN) are the two most common causes of AKI in patients with chronic liver disease and cirrhosis. Differentiating these conditions is essential due to the differences in treatment. Prerenal AKI, a more benign disorder, responds well to plasma volume expansion, while ATN requires more specific renal support and is associated with substantial mortality. HRS–AKI is a facet of these two conditions, which are characterized by a dysregulation of the immune response. Recently, there has been progress in better defining this clinical entity, and studies have begun to address optimal care. The present review synopsizes the current diagnostic criteria, pathophysiology, and treatment modalities of HRS–AKI and as well as AKI in other chronic liver diseases (non-HRS–AKI) so that early recognition of HRS–AKI and the appropriate management can be established. | Wiwat Chancharoenthana Asada Leelahavanichkul | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,28: | 14

Recent progress on the recycling technology of Li-ion batteries显示文摘Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have been widely applied in portable electronic devices and electric vehicles. With the booming of the respective markets,a huge quantity of spent LIBs that typically use either LiFePO_(4) or Li N_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(z)O_(2) cathode materials will be produced in the very near future, imposing significant pressure for the development of suitable disposal/recycling technologies,in terms of both environmental protection and resource reclaiming. In this review,we firstly do a comprehensive summary of the-state-of-art technologies to recycle Li N_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(z)O_(2) and LiFePO_(4)-based LIBs,in the aspects of pretreatment, hydrometallurgical recycling, and direct regeneration of the cathode materials. This closed-loop strategy for cycling cathode materials has been regarded as an ideal approach considering its economic benefit and environmental friendliness.Afterward,as for the exhausted anode materials,we focus on the utilization of exhausted anode materials to obtain other functional materials, such as graphene. Finally, the existing challenges in recycling the LiFePO_(4) and Li N_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(z)O_(2) cathodes and graphite anodes for industrial-scale application are discussed in detail;and the possible strategies for these issues are proposed. We expect this review can provide a roadmap towards better technologies for recycling LIBs,shed light on the future development of novel battery recycling technologies to promote the environmental benignity and economic viability of the battery industry and pave way for the large-scale application of LIBs in industrial fields in the near future. | Yuqing Wang Ning An Lei Wen Lei Wang Xiaotong Jiang Feng Hou Yuxin Yin Ji Liang | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,4: | 10
Episodic crustal growth in the Tanzania Craton:evidence from Nd isotope compositions显示文摘The analysis of available Nd isotope data from the Tanzania Craton places important constraints on the crest-mantle separation ages, and events marking juvenile crustal addition and crustal recycling.Nd model ages date the oldest crust extraction to 3.16 Ga in the Tanzania Craton, although a rock record of such antiquity is yet to be found there. The most significant period of juvenile crustal addition as well as crustal recycling is 2.7-2.6 Ga.The Nd isotopes of marie samples show that chemical heterogeneity existed in the mantle beneath the Tanzania Craton, with some samples originating from significantly depleted mantle, and most samples originating from the mixture of primitive mantle and depleted mantle. The Nd isotope section reveals significant differences in Nd isotopes between the north eraton and central craton;compared to the north craton, the central craton yields a Nd model age that is approximately 100 Ma older, and its εNd(t)values are more negative, indicating that the two parts of the craton have different mantle source regions.Different types of granitoids are distributed in the Tanzania Craton, such as high-K and low-Al granite,ealc-alkaline granite, peraluminous granite and transitional types of tonalite-trondhjemite- granodiorites (TTGs).Most of the granitoids formed later than the marie rocks in syn-collision and postcollision events. | Kai Sun Lin-lin Zhang Zhi-dan Zhao Fu-qing He Sheng-fei He Xing-yuan Wu Lei Qiu Xiao-dong Ren | 2018 | China Geology2018,1,2: | 8
Production of glass-ceramics using Municipal solid waste incineration fly ash显示文摘Municipal solid waste incineration(MSWI) fly ash is a by-product from municipal waste incineration.According to incomplete statistics, each year more than one million tons MSWI fly ash was produced in China. Owing to high heavy elements content, widely used disposal methods of landfill are not suitable for MSWI fly ash treatment. In this study, by using MSWI fly ash as raw materials, glassceramics was synthesized for the solidification of heavy metals and waste recycle. Process parameters, including composition, heat treatment temperature and time, were studied and optimized. Under optimizing conditions, the product has good properties of density of 3.42 g·cm^(-3) and Vickers hardness of 6.91 GPa. Moreover, the leaching concentration of heavy metal elements meets allowable values of toxicity characteristic leaching procedure(TCLP).This study offers an alternative for MSWI fly ash recycle. | Wen-Di Fan Bo Liu Xun Luo Jian Yang Bin Guo Shen-Gen Zhang | 2019 | Rare Metals2019,38,3: | 8
Closed-loop hydrometallurgical treatment of end-of-life lithium ion batteries: Towards zero-waste process and metal recycling in advanced batteries显示文摘This work presents an enhanced hydrometallurgical process for recycling lithium ion batteries. First, endof-life batteries were processed in a physical pre-treatment plant to obtain a representative electrode material. The resulting leachate was purified forth by iron-precipitation, liquid–liquid extractions, and an innovative Li–Na separation, in order to obtain valuable products. These products include high-grade graphite, cobalt oxide(Co3O4, purity 83%), cobalt oxalate(CoC2O4, purity 96%), nickel oxide(Ni O, purity89%), and lithium carbonate(Li2CO3, purity 99.8%). The recovery rate was quantitative for graphite, between 80% and 85% for cobalt depending on the nature of the recovery method, 90% for nickel, and 72%for lithium. Secondary streams were also valorized to obtain sodium sulfate(Na2SO4, purity 96%), and MnCoFe2O4 magnetic nano-sorbents according to the zero-waste concept. In order to close the loop, recycled Co3O4 and NiO were used as conversion-type anode materials for advanced lithium ion batteries showing promising performances. | Thomas Abo Atia Giuseppe Elia Robert Hahn Pietro Altimari Francesca Pagnanelli | 2019 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,8: | 8
Cementitious property of NaAlO2-activated Ge slag as cement supplement显示文摘Germanium(Ge),a waste residue leaching from zinc(Zn)smelting process, has potential cementitious properties and could be recycled as a cement supplement activated by chemical reagents. In this work,a test was conducted to determine the hydration properties of Ge slag-cement-based composites with Ge slag(GS)/ordinary Portland cement(PC)contents of 0wt%,5wt%,10wt%,15wt%,20wt%,and 25wt% and water-to-binder ratio(w/b)of 0.4.The activators Ca(OH)2,AlCl3,NaAlO2,and Na2CO3 were mixed under 1wt%,2wt%,3wt%,and 4wt% dosages of GS weight. The composition and microstructure of the hydration products were investigated by the combined approaches of X-ray diffraction(XRD),thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry(TG-DSC),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS).First, the GS cementitious property is attributed to the high content of CaSO4·2H2O.Second,the activators affected the acceleration performance in the following order:NaAlO2,Na2CO3,AlCl3,and Ca(OH)2.More importantly, the 28-day unconfined compressive strength(UCS)is 45.34 MPa at the optimum formula of 0.6wt% NaAlO2,15wt% GS,and 85wt% PC,which is 9.16% higher than the control.Thus,NaAlO2 is beneficial for the ettringite(AFt)generation, resulting in the C-S-H structure compaction. However, the Zn^2+ residue inhibited the AFt formation, representing an important challenge to the strength growth with curing age.Consequently, the GS could be recycled as a supplement to the cement under the activator NaAlO2. | Hua-zhe Jiao Shu-fei Wang Ai-xiang Wu Hui-ming Shen Jian-dong Wang | 2019 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2019,26,12: | 8
Estimating Synechococcus spp. growth rates and grazingpressure by heterotrophic nanoplankton in theEnglish Channel and the Celtic Sea显示文摘-Marine chroococcoid phycoerythrin - containing Synechococcus spp. recently have been implicated as a substantial component of the photosynthetic picoplankton in the ocean. Although the importance of Synechococcus as food sources for heterotrophic nanoplankton are now recognized, the information about its cycling of biomass and diel patterns is limited and the methodology used varies according to different authors. A selective metabolic inhibitor method was used to allow simultanous estimation of both growth rates and grazing disappearance rates of Synechococcus. Results obtained in the English Channel show growth rates ranging from 0. 25 to 0. 72 d-1 with an average value of 0. 51 d -1and grazing disappearance rates ranged from 0. 21 to 0. 64 d-1 (mean = 0. 44 d-1). Offshore in the Celtic Sea of the Northeast Atlantic Ocean, both rates were lower than in the channel. The similarity between average growth and grazing rates suggests a rapid recycling of Synechococcus biomass. | 12 | Progresses in Sustainable Recycling Technology of Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries显示文摘The number of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)is steadily increasing in order to meet the ever-growing demand for sustainable energy and a high quality of life for humankind. At the same time, the resulting large number of LIB waste certainly poses safety hazards if it is not properly disposed of and will seriously harm the environment due to its inherent toxicity due to the use of toxic substances. Moreover, the consumption of many scarce precious metal resources is behind the mass production of batteries. In the light of severe environmental, resources, safety and recycling problems, recycling spent LIBs have become an essential urgently needed action to achieve sustainable social development. This review therefore critically analyses the value and the need for recycling of spent LIBs from a variety of resources and the environment.A range of existing technologies for recycling and reusing spent LIBs,such as pretreatment, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, and direct recycled methods,is subsequently summarized exclusively. In addition, the benefits and problems of the methods described above are analyzed in detail. It also introduces recycling progress of other LIB components, such as anodes, separators, and electrolytes,as well as the high-value cathode. Finally, the prospects for recycling LIBs are addressed in four ways(government, users, battery manufacturers, and recyclers). This review should contribute to the development of the recycling of used LIBs,particularly in support of industrialization and recycling processes. | Kaidi Du Edison Huixiang Ang Xinglong Wu Yichun Liu | 2022 | Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,4: | 7
Hydrometallurgical recycling of NdF eB magnets: Complete leaching, iron removal and electrolysis显示文摘NdFeB magnets currently dominate the magnet market. Supply risks of certain rare earth metals(REM), e.g. Nd and Dy, impose efficient recycling schemes that are applicable to different types and compositions of these magnets with minimum use of chemicals and waste generation. In this study, a hydrometallurgical method was studied that could be adjusted to recover not only REM, but also other valuable metals(e.g.Co, Ni and Cu) that co-existed in the magnet. The magnet powders were completely dissolved in a dilute sulfuric acid solution giving more than 98% of dissolved iron in the ferrous state. Chemical oxidation of Fe^(2+) into Fe^(3+) by the addition of MnO 2 required only 1 h at ambient temperature. It was then possible to precipitate more than 99% of this ferric iron by adjusting the pH of the solution above 3 with either Ca(OH)_2 or MnO additions. However, the addition of Ca(OH)_2 resulted in the formation of gypsum and up to ca. 23% REM losses, possibly via co-precipitation into the gypsum. MnO elevated the Mn^(2+) concentration in the solution. However, it was found to be problematic that subsequent direct electrolysis removed Mn and Co. Low anodic current efficiencies(ACE) resulted in high energy consumption(EC), while incomplete Mn and Co removals and undesired REM losses were reported. Pre-electrolysis removals of REM and/or Co by oxalate and/or sulfide precipitation were proven to be successful and selective, but this enlarged the flowsheet considerably with only minor improvement of the Mn removal, ACE and EC. | Mehmet Ali Recai Onal Chenna Rao Borra Muxing Guo Bart Blanpain Tom Van Gerven | 2017 | Journal of Rare Earths2017,35,6: | 6
Thermodynamic calculation on the smelting slag of direct recycling of electric arc furnace stainless steelmaking dust显示文摘Thermodynamic calculation on the smelting slag of direct recycling of electric arc furnace stainless steelmaking dust was presented. An induction furnace was used to simulate electric arc furnace smelting to recover the metals from the dust. The elements of iron, chromium and nickel in the ingot and the components of metal oxides in the slag were analyzed. The thermodynamic model for FeO Cr 2O 3 MgO SiO 2 slag was set up and the active concentrations of substances in the slag at 1 550 ℃ were determined by thermodynamic calculation according to the experimental data. The results show that the apparent equilibrium constant and quantitative distribution of chromium between slag and steel are unstable and affected by the mass ratios of pellets to start iron and metal reducing agent to the pellets. In order to get satisfactory chromium recovery from the direct recycling of electric arc furnace stainless steelmaking dust, it is important to ensure the mass ratio of pellets to the steel below 0.20 and the mass ratio of metal reducing agent to pellets over 0.18 in practical smelting runs. | 彭兵 彭及 Janusz A.Kozinski Jonathan Lobel 柴立元 张传福 陈为亮 | 2003 | Journal of Central South University of Technology2003,10,1: | 6
Mechanical Behavior and Failure Mechanism of Recycled Semi-flexible Pavement Material显示文摘The mechanical behavior and failure mechanism of recycled semi-flexible pavement material were investigated by different scales method. The macroscopic mechanical behavior of samples was studied by static and dynamic splitting tensile tests on mechanics testing system(MTS). The mechanical analysis in micro scale was carried out by material image analysis method and finite element analysis system. The strains of recycled semi-flexible pavement material on samples surface and in each phase materials were obtained. The test results reveal that the performance of recovered asphalt binder was the major determinant on the structural stability of recycled semi-flexible pavement material. The asphalt binder with high viscoelasticity could delay the initial cracking time and reduce the residual strain under cyclic loading conditions. The failure possibility order of each phase in recycled semi-flexible pavement material was asphalt binder, reclaimed aggregate, cement paste and virgin aggregate. | 丁庆军 ZHAO Mingyu SHEN Fan ZHANG Xiaoqiang | 2015 | Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2015,30,5: | 6

Petrogenetic significance of high Fe/Mn ratios of the Cenozoic basalts from Eastern China显示文摘The Cenozoic basalts from eastern China show commonly high Fe/Mn ratios (average = 68.6 ± 11.5) coupled with OIB-type trace element signature. The Cenozoic basalts form the northern margin and the southern margin of the North China Craton are studied in detail. Model calculations point out that the coupling feature of high Fe/Mn ratio with OIB-type trace element signature of these basalts cannot be produced by neither pyroxene/olivine crystallization nor remelting of previously melted mantle, but require partial melting of a garnet pyroxenite-rich mantle source. Combining these features of the Cenozoic basalts with the Phanerozoic lithospheric evolution of the eastern China, we suggest that the Cenozoic basalts were derived from a garnet pyroxenite-rich mantle source associated with continental crust delamination or oceanic crust subduction. | ZHANG BinHui LIU YongSheng GAO Shan | 2008 | Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,2: | 5
The complexity of sediment recycling as revealed by common Pb isotopes in K-feldspar显示文摘Detrital zircon U-Pb geochronology has become the gold standard in evaluating source to sink relationships in sedimentary basins. However, the physical and chemical robustness of zircon, which make it such a useful mineral for provenance studies, is also a hindrance as zircon can be recycled through numerous sedimentary basins, thus obscuring the first cycle source to sink relationship. An elegant approach to addressing this potential issue is to compare the Pb isotope composition of detrital K-feldspar, a mineral which is unlikely to survive more than one erosion-transport-deposition cycle, with that of magmatic K-feldspar from potential basement source terranes. Here we present new in situ Pb isotope data on detrital K-feldspar from two Proterozoic arkosic sandstones from Western Australia, and magmatic K-feldspar grains from potential igneous source rocks, as inferred by the age and Hf isotope composition of detrital zircon grains. The data indicate that the detrital zircon and K-feldspar grains could not have been liberated from the same source rocks, and that the zircon has most likely been recycled through older sedimentary basins. These results provide a more complete understanding of apparently simple source to sink relationships in this part of Proterozoic Western Australia. | Simon P.Johnson Christopher L.Kirkland Noreen J.Evans Brad J.McDonald Huntly N.Cutten | 2018 | Geoscience Frontiers2018,9,5: | 5
Preparation and Characterization of Waterborne Polyurethane/Cellulose Nanocrystal Composite Membrane from Recycling Waste Paper显示文摘Cellulose plays a key role in abundant organic natural materials meeting the increasing demand for green and biocompatible products. The highly crystalline nanoscale component of cellulose nanocrystals has recently attracted great attention due to the versatile performance as filler or matrix in producing functional materials. In this work,we prepared the waterborne polyurethane via a prepolymer process, and obtained cellulose and cellulose nanocrystals from waste paper via a facile acid hydrolysis process. After that, the cellulose nanocrystals were assembled into film and mixed with polyurethane to prepare flexible polyurethane/cellulose nanocrystals composite membrane with different soaking time. The correlation between the bulk structure and applied properties including thermal resistance and mechanical property was investigated by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)and folding test. The structure analysis indicates that cellulose nanocrystals prepared from used paper have a quality similar to that of commercial cellulose.Meanwhile, the cellulose nanocrystals have been mixed with polyurethane uniformly.Polyurethane can significantly benefit to the thermal resistance and mechanical property of the cellulose nanocrystals film. The polyurethane/cellulose nanocrystals composite membrane present good flexibility and may hold a significantly potential application as visual and flexible material. | Xing Zhou Xin Zhang Dong Wang Changqing Fang Wanqing Lei Zhigang Huang Yonghua Song Xinyu He Yingwei Huang | 2020 | Journal of Renewable Materials2020,8,6: | 5
Particle size dependent sinterability and magnetic properties of recycled HDDR Nd-Fe-B powders consolidated with spark plasma sintering显示文摘The dependence of the magnetic properties on the particle size of recycled HDDR Nd-Fe-B powders was investigated, with the aim to assess the reprocessing potential of the end-of-life scrap magnets via spark plasma sintering(SPS).The as received recycled HDDR powder has coercivity(Hci)=830 kA/m and particles in the range from 30 to 700 μm(average 220 μm).After burr milling, the average particle size is reduced to 120 μm and subsequently the Hci of fine(milled) powder was 595 kA/m.Spark plasma sintering was exploited to consolidate the nanograined HDDR powders and limit the abnormal grain coarsening. The optimal SPS-ing of coarse HDDR powder at 750℃for 1 min produces fully dense magnets with Hci=950±100 kA/m which further increases to 1200 kA/m via thermal treatment at 750℃for 15 min.The burr milled fine HDDR powder under similar SPS conditions and after thermal treatment results in Hci=940 kA/m.The fine powder is further sieved down from 630 to less than 50 μm mesh size,to evaluate the possible reduction in Hci in relation to the particle size. The gain in oxygen content doubles for <50 μm sized particles as compared with coarser fractions(>200 μm).The XRD analysis for fractionated powder indicates an increase in Nd2O3 phase peaks in the finer(<100 μm)fractions.Similarly, the Hci reduces from 820 kA/m in the coarse particles(>200 μm) to 460 kA/m in the fine sized particles(<100μm).SPS was done on each HDDR powder fraction under the optimal conditions to measure the variation in Hci and density. The Hci of SPS-ed coarse fraction(>200 μm) is higher than 930 kA/m and it falls abruptly to just 70 kA/m for the fine sized particles(<100 μm).The thermal treatment further improves the Hci to>1000 kA/m only up to 100 μm sized fractions with>90% sintered density. The full densification(>99%) is observed only in the coarse fractions. The loss of coercivity and lack of sinterability in the fine sized particles(<100 μm) are attributed to a very high oxygen content. This implies that during recycling,if good magnetic properties are to be maintained or even increase the HDDR powder particles can be sized down only up to≥100 μm. | Awais Ikram Farhan Mehmood Richard Stuart Sheridan Muhammad Awais Allan Walton Anas Eldosouky Saso Sturm Spomenka Kobe Kristina Zuzek Rozman | 2020 | Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,1: | 5
