GPS-constrained inversion of present-day slip rates along major faults of the Sichuan-Yunnan region, China显示文摘A linked-fault-element model is employed to invert for contemporary slip rates along major active faults in the Sichuan-Yunnan region (96°-108°E, 21°-35°N) using the least squares method. The model is based on known fault geometry, and constrained by a GPS-derived horizontal velocity field. Our results support a model attributing the eastward extrusion of the Tibetan Plateau driven mainly by the north-northeastward indentation of the Indian plate into Tibet and the gravitational collapse of the plateau. Resisted by a relatively stable south China block, materials of the Sichuan-Yunnan region rotate clockwise around the eastern Himalayan tectonic syntaxis. During the process the Garzê-Yushu, Xianshuihe, Anninghe, Zemuhe, Daliangshan, and Xiaojiang faults, the southwest extension of the Xiaojiang fault, and the Daluo-Jinghong and Mae Chan faults constitute the northeast and east boundaries of the eastward extrusion, with their left slip rates being 0.3-14.7, 8.9-17.1, 5.1 ± 2.5, 2.8 ± 2.3, 7.1 ± 2.1, 9.4 ± 1.2, 10.1 ± 2.0, 7.3 ± 2.6, and 4.9 ± 3.0 mm/a respectively. The southwestern boundary consists of a widely distributed dextral transpressional zone other than a single fault. Right slip rates of 4.2 ± 1.3, 4.3 ± 1.1, and 8.5 ± 1.7 mm/a are detected across the Nanhua-Chuxiong-Jianshui, Wuliangshan, and Longling-Lancang faults. Crustal deformation across the Longmenshan fault is weak, with short-ening rates of 1.4 ± 1.0 and 1.6 ± 1.3 mm/a across the Baoxing-Beichuan and Beichuan-Qingchuan segments. Northwest of the Longmenshan fault lies an active deformation zone (the Longriba fault) with 5.1±1.2 mm/a right slip across. Relatively large slip rates are detected across a few faults within the Sichuan-Yunnan block: 4.4±1.3 mm/a left slip and 2.7±1.1 mm/a shortening across the Litang fault, and 2.7±2.3 mm/a right-lateral shearing and 6.7±2.3 mm/a shortening across the Yunongxi fault and its surrounding regions. In conclusion, we find that the Sichuan-Yunnan region is divided into more than a dozen active micro-blocks by a large number of faults with relatively slow slip rates. The eastward extrusion of the Tibetan Plateau is absorbed and adjusted in the region mainly by these faults, other than a small number of large strike-slip faults with fast slip rates.WANG YanZhao WANG EnNing SHEN ZhengKang WANG Min GAN WeiJun QIAO XueJun MENG GuoJie LI TieMing TAO Wei YANG YongLin CHENG Jia LI Peng 2008Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,9:65
The deformation pattern and fault rate in the Tianshan Mountains inferred from GPS observations显示文摘Based on GPS measurements conducted from 1992 to 2006, we present the current crustal movement velocity field for approximately 400 sites in the Tianshan Mountains and their adjacent areas, and estimate slip rates on the major faults using a 2-D elastic dislocation model. Our studies show slip rates within the range of 1―4 mm/a on the NW-SE trending strike-slip faults (such as Talas-Fergana fault) in the Tianshan Mountains. We also found the slip rates on the approximately WE-SN trending gently-dipping detachment fault vary from 10―13 mm/a for the southwest Tianshan Mountains to 2―5 mm/a for the eastern Tianshan Mountains, and to 6―12 mm/a for the Kyrgrz Tianshan. The GPS velocity field reveals that the total convergence is not uniformly distributed across the Tianshan Mountains, with 80%―90% of the N-S shortening absorbed along the southern and northern edges, and relatively little deformation accommodated within the interior. This first-order feature of strain pattern is explained best by underthrusting of adjacent blocks beneath the Tianshan Mountains along a basal detachment fault. We found the occurrence of historical M7―8 earthquakes somewhere in the locked ramp that connects the creeping and locking segments of the detachment, thereby resulting in elastic strain concentration and accumulation around it. The elastic strain confined in the upper crustal layer above the detachment ultimately releases through infrequent great earthquakes in the Tianshan Mountains, resulting in considerable folding and faulting at their margins. The Tianshan Mountains propagated outward and rose progressively as a wedge-shaped block.YANG ShaoMin1,2, LI Jie1,3 & WANG Qi2,1 1 Research Center of Space Science and Technology, China University of Geosciences, Wuhan 430074, China 2 Institute of Seismology, China Earthquake Administration, Wuhan 430071, China 3 Earthquake Administration of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Urumqi 830011, China 2008Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,8:43
Discovery of the Longriba Fault Zone in Eastern Bayan Har Block, China and its tectonic implication显示文摘Re-measured GPS data have recently revealed that a broad NE trending dextral shear zone exists in the eastern Bayan Har block about 200 km northwest of the Longmenshan thrust on the eastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The strain rate along this shear zone may reach up to 4-6 mm/a. Our interpretation of satellite images and field observations indicate that this dextral shear zone corresponds to a newly generated NE trending Longriba fault zone that has been ignored before. The northeast segment of the Longriba fault zone consists of two subparallel N54°±5°E trending branch faults about 30 km apart, and late Quaternary offset landforms are well developed along the strands of these two branch faults. The northern branch fault, the Longriqu fault, has relatively large reverse component, while the southern branch fault, the Maoergai fault, is a pure right-lateral strike slip fault. According to vector synthesizing principle, the average right-lateral strike slip rate along the Longriba fault zone in the late Quaternary is calculated to be 5.4±2.0 mm/a, the vertical slip rate to be 0.7 mm/a, and the rate of crustal shortening to be 0.55 mm/a. The discovery of the Longriba fault zone may provide a new insight into the tectonics and dynamics of the eastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Taken the Longriba fault zone as a boundary, the Bayan Har block is divided into two sub-blocks: the Ahba sub-block in the west and the Longmenshan sub-block in the east. The shortening and uplifting of the Longmenshan sub-block as a whole reflects that both the Longmenshan thrust and Longriba fault zone are subordinated to a back propagated nappe tectonic system that was formed during the southeastward motion of the Bayan Har block owing to intense resistance of the South China block. This nappe tectonic system has become a boundary tectonic type of an active block supporting crustal deformation along the eastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from late Cenozoic till now. The Longriba fault zone is just an active fault zone newly-generated in late Quaternary along this tectonic system.XU XiWei WEN XueZe CHEN GuiHua YU GuiHua 2008Science China Earth Sciences2008,51,9:46
Paleoearthquake rupture behavior and recurrence of great earthquakes along the Haiyuan fault, northwestern China显示文摘The Haiyuan fault is a major seismogenic fault in north-central China where the 1920 Haiyuan earthquake of magnitude 8.5 occurred, resulting in more than 220000 deaths. The fault zone can be divided into three segments based on their geometric patterns and associated geomorphology. To study paleoseismology and recurrent history of devastating earthquakes along the fault, we dug 17 trenches along different segments of the fault zone. Although only 10 of them allow the paleoearthquake event to be dated, together with the 8 trenches dug previously they still provide adequate information that enables us to capture major paleoearthquakes oc- curring along the fault during the past geological time. We discovered 3 events along the eastern segment during the past 14000 a, 7 events along the middle segment during the past 9000 a, and 6 events along the western segment during the past 10000 a. These events clearly depict two temporal clusters. The first cluster occurs from 4600 to 6400 a, and the second occurs from 1000 to 2800 a, approximately. Each cluster lasts about 2000 a. Time period between these two clus- ters is also about 2000 a. Based on fault geometry, segmentation pattern, and paleoearthquake events along the Haiyuan fault we can identify three scales of earthquake rupture: rupture of one segment, cascade rupture of two segments, and cascade rupture of entire fault (three segments). Interactions of slip patches on the surface of the fault may cause rupture on one patch or ruptures of more than two to three patchs to form the complex patterns of cascade rupture events.ZHANG Peizhen MIN Wei DENG Qidong MAO Fengying 2005Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,3:31
Basic characteristics of active tectonics of China显示文摘During the last 20 years, studies on active tectonics in China have entered a new quan-titative research stage and made a great progress. Summing up the quantitative results, a Map of Active Tectonics of China on the scale of 1︰4 million has been compiled. In the map all types of active tectonics and their kinematic parameters are reflected in possible detail, such as active faults, active folds, active basins, active blocks, volcanoes, and earthquakes. This paper summa-rizes the basic characteristics of active tectonics of China. The Himalaya Mountains and Taiwan Island are major plate boundaries where the slip rates are larger than 15 mm/a. Tectonic activity in the continental intraplate region is characterized by block motion. The crust and lithosphere in the region were dissected into blocks with different orders. Of them the Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet), Xin- jiang, and North China block regions exhibit the most recent tectonic activity. The kinematic char-acteristics of more than 200 active tectonic zones indicate that the intraplate tectonic activity represents a block motion at a limited low rate. Horizontal slip rate along the tectonic boundary belts between the blocks is generally less than 10 mm/a, and 10—15 mm/a in maximum, and hence it does not support the continental escape theory of high rate of slip.邓起东 张培震 冉勇康 杨晓平 闵伟 楚全芝 2003Science China Earth Sciences2003,46,4:29
Average slip rate, earthquake rupturing segmentation and recurrence behavior on the Litang fault zone, western Sichuan Province, China显示文摘The Litang fault zone (LFZ) is an active fault zone within the northwestern Sichuan sub-block. Field investigation reveals new evidence for its late Quaternary offset, neoteric earthquake ruptures and surface-rupturing segmentation, from which long-term slip-rates, char-acteristic earthquake magnitudes and recurrence intervals on the fault zone are estimated. This study shows that the LFZ consists of three subordinate faults, and they are the northern Maoyaba fault, Litang fault and Kangga-Dewu fault, respectively. All of them are dominated by left-lateral strike-slip with reverse dip-slip component on different segments. Based on offset landforms and ages of relevant deposits collected from seven sites, it is estimated that the average left-lateral slip-rate on the LFZ reaches 4.0±1.0 mm/a in the past 14 ka BP, and vertical (reverse) dip-slip rate in the range of 0.1―1.8 mm/a. Three subordinate faults are independent earthquake rup-turing segments, on which the maximum moment magnitude of the characteristic earthquakes is estimated to be 7.0―7.3, and their average recurrence interval to be 500―1000 a. The latest earthquake ruptures occurred 119±2 years ago on the northern Maoyaba fault, about 1890 AD on the Litang fault, and in 1948 AD on the Kangga-Dewu fault, and this may indicate a unidirectional migration for surface rupturing earthquakes along the Litang fault zone, related to stress trigger-ing between the segments.XU Xiwei1, WEN Xueze2, YU Guihua1, ZHENG Rongzhang1, LUO Haiyuan2 & ZHENG Bin2 1. 7LARGE-SCALE STRIKE SLIP FAULT: THE MAJOR STRUCTURE OF INTRACONTINENTAL DEFORMATION AFTER COLLISION显示文摘Intracontinental deformation is one of the most interesting problems in tectonics. But so far little attention has been paid to rock deformation, metamorphism and magmatism related with large-scale displacement and rotation of these blocks. In this note, we take the Ailaoshan-Red River fault (ARF)zone in western Yunnan as an example and discuss the kinematics and dynamics of the fault With its neighbouring blocks in the Tertiary.钟大赉 P. 8Contemporary crustal tectonic movement in the southern Sichuan-Yunnan block based on dense GPS observation data显示文摘We analyzed 360 permanent and campaign GPS data from 1999 to 2017 in the southern Sichuan-Yunan block, and obtained crustal horizontal deformation in this region. Then, we derived the strain rate using a multi-scale spherical wavelet method. Results reveal a complex pattern of tectonic movement in the southern Sichuan-Yunnan block.Compared to the stable Eurasian plate, the maximum rate of the horizontal deformation in the southern Sichuan-Yunnan block is approximately 22 mm/a.The Xiaojiang fault shows a significantly lower deformation—a left-lateral strike-slip movement of 9.5 mm/a.The Honghe fault clearly shows a complex segmental deformation from the north to south. The northern Honghe fault shows 4.3 mm/a right strike-slip with 6.7 mm/a extension; the southern Honghe fault shows 1.9 mm/a right strike-slip with 1.9 mm/a extension; the junction zone in the Honghe and Lijiang–Xiaojinhe faults shows an obvious clockwise-rotation deformation. The strain calculation results reveal that the maximum shear-strain rate in this region reaches 70 nstrain/a, concentrated around the Xiaojiang fault and at the junction of the Honghe and Lijiang–Xiaojinhe faults. We note that most of the earthquakes with magnitudes of 4 and above that occurred in this region were within the high shear strain-rate zones and the strain rate gradient boundary zone, which indicates that the magnitude of strain accumulation is closely related to the seismic activities.Comparison of the fast shear-wave polarization direction of the upper-crust with the upper-mantle anisotropy and the direction of the surface principal compressive strain rate obtained from the inversion of the GPS data reveals that the direction of the surface principal compressive strain is basically consistent with the fast shear-wave polarization direction of the upper crust anisotropy, but different from the polarization direction of the upper mantle. Our results support the hypothesis that the principal elements of the deformation mechanism in the southern Sichuan-Yunnan block are decoupling between the upper and lower crust and ductile flow in the lower crust.HongLin Jin Yuan Gao XiaoNing Su GuangYu Fu 2019Earth and Planetary Physics2019,3,1:18
Quasi-static Analysis of Thrust-loaded Angular Contact Ball Bearings Part Ⅰ:Theoretical Formulation显示文摘Ball bearings play an important role in various rotating machineries, but the complicated kinematic and tribological features of ball bearings make many aspects of their operating behaviors still inconclusive. Most theoretical analyses of ball bearings up to date are based on either the hypothesis of race control or other empirical models to determine the ball motion of ball bearings, but none of these strategies can reveal and consequently employ the intrinsic coupling mechanism between the spin and the tangential traction of contacting bodies rolling upon one another. To remedy the deficiency of current analytical models for ball bearing analysis, the rolling contact theory is employed to establish an explicit link between motions and interactions within ball bearings.A differential slip model is established to precisely define the slip component due to the significant curvature of the common contact patches between the ball and inner/outer raceways. The creepage and the spin ratio are formulated to accurately define the relative rigid motion between the ball and the inner/outer raceway. Then a quasi-static analytical model is established that can accurately determine the motions of the balls and races of the ball bearing. It can also give a vivid description of the slip and traction distributions within the contact area. The analytical model can be effectively used to analyze the operational conditions and tribological features of solid-lubricated ball bearings. It can also be used optimize the construction of ball bearings for specific applications.CHEN Wenhua1,2,MA Zikui1,GAO Liang1,LI Xinglin3,and PAN Jun2 1 Institute of Mechanical Design,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027,China 2 Institute of Mechanical Design and Manufacturing,Zhejiang Sci-Tech University,Hangzhou 310018,China 3 State Testing Laboratory of Hangzhou Bearing Test & Research Center,Hangzhou 310022,China 2012Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,1:16
Co-seismic slip distribution of the 2011 Tohoku(MW 9.0)earthquake inverted from GPS and space-borne gravimetric data显示文摘Data obtained by GRACE(Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) have been used to invert for the seismic source parameters of megathrust earthquakes under the assumption of either uniform slip over an entire fault or a point-like seismic source.Herein, we further extend the inversion of GRACE long-wavelength gravity changes to heterogeneous slip distributions during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake using three fault models:(Ⅰ) a constant-strike and constant-dip fault,(Ⅱ) a variable dip fault, and(Ⅲ) a realistically varying strike fault. By removing the post-seismic signal from the time series, and taking the effect of ocean water redistribution into account, we invert for slip models I, II, and III using co-seismic gravity changes measured by GRACE, de-striped by DDK3 decorrelation filter. The total seismic moments of our slip models, with respective values of 4.9×10^(22) Nm, 5.1×10^(22) Nm, and 5.0×10^(22) Nm, are smaller than those obtained by other studies relying on GRACE data. The resulting centroids are also located at greater depths(20 km, 19.8 km,and 17.4 km, respectively). By combining onshore GPS, GPS-Acoustic, and GRACE data, we obtain a jointly inverted slip model with a seismic moment of 4.8×10^(22) Nm, which is larger than the seismic moment obtained using only the GPS displacements. We show that the slip inverted from low degree space-borne gravimetric data, which contains information at the ocean region, is affected by the strike of the arcuate trench. The space-borne gravimetric data help us constrain the source parameters of a megathrust earthquake within the frame of heterogeneous slip models.Xin Zhou Gabriele Cambiotti WenKe Sun Roberto Sabadini 2018Earth and Planetary Physics2018,2,2:16
Drag reduction in ultrahydrophobic channels with micro-nano structured surfaces显示文摘A series of experiments have been performed to demonstrate the significant drag reduction of the laminar flow in the ultrahydrophobic channels with dual-scale micro-nano structured surfaces. However,in previous experiments, the ultrahydrophobic surfaces were fabricated with micro-structures or nano-structures and the channels were on the microscale. For the drag reduction in macro-scale channels few reports are available. Here a new method was developed to fabricate ultrahydrophobic surfaces with micro-nano hierarchical structures made from carbon nanotubes. The drag reductions up to 36.3% were observed in the macro-channels with ultrahydrophobic surfaces. The micro-PIV was used to measure the flow velocity in channels.Compared with the traditional no-slip theory at walls,a significant slip velocity was observed on the ultrahydrophobic surfaces.LU Si,YAO ZhaoHui *,HAO PengFei & FU ChengSong School of Aerospace,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,7:11
The seasonal dependence of cycle slip occurrence of GPS data over China low latitude region显示文摘The relationship of daily accumulated cycle slip occurrence with the season is analyzed using the GPS data observed in six GPS stations located in China low latitude region in 2001. It is found that the seasonal dependence of cycle slip oc-currence is evident. The cycle slip mainly occurs during the periods of two equinox months (March to May and September to October), and some correlative changes of the cycle slip occurrences over all six stations are exhibited in some special days. Considering the diurnal dependence of cycle slip, it can be inferred that the cycle slip occurrence with certain elevation limitation is related with the iono-spheric irregularities over this region.ZHANG DongHe FENG Man XIAO Zuo HAO YongQiang SHI LiQin YANG GuangLin SUO YuCheng 2007Science China(Technological Sciences)2007,50,4:10
The unconformity in Miocene sequence of western Qaidam Basin and its tectonic significance显示文摘An angular unconformity has been identified between the upper and the lower Youshashan Formation based on the study of the regional geology, drillhole, and geophysical data of the Altyn Tagh Mountain foreland, western Qaidam Basin. The distribution of the unconformity, the contacts between the upper and the lower Youshashan Formation, and its relation to the characteristics of the paleo-structure belts suggest a close relationship between the unconformities in the southern flank of the Altyn Tagh Mountain in the west of the Qaidam Basin and the activity of the Altyn Tagh Fault. It was the same time when the Atlyn Tagh Fault Zone was transformed from regional uplifting to rapid-strike-slipping movement during the Miocene, resulting in the cessation of the regional uplift and subsequent massive regional transgression during the deposition of the upper Youshashan Formation, which unconformably overlies (onlaps) the underlying strata of different ages.WANG Liang XIAO AnCheng GONG QingLin LIU Dong WU Lei ZHOU SuPing SHEN ZhongYan LOU QianQian SUN XiaoWen 2010Science China Earth Sciences2010,53,8:10
Cone-shaped cylindrical Ce_(0.9)Gd_(0.1)O_(1.95) electrolyte prepared by slip casting and its application to solid oxide fuel cells显示文摘A cone-shaped gadolinium doped ceria(Ce0.9Gd0.1O1.95,GDC) electrolyte cylinder with a thin wall was fabricated using slip cast-ing technique. The diameter of the larger open end of the cone-shaped cylinder was 0.85 cm,the length was 1.0 cm,and the thickness of the wall was 0.026 cm after sintering. Both the electrolyte and electrode powders were fabricated by using a glycine-nitrate process.A single solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) was prepared with the cone-shaped electrolyte,NiO-GDC(70:30 wt.%) anode and Sm0.5Sr0.5CoO3(SSC) cathode. Its electrochemical performance(I-V curve) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) were studied with humidified hydrogen as the fuel and air as the oxidant. The maximum output power density was about 300 ?mW/cm2 at 700 oC.The EIS results showed that the dominant loss of the SOFC was from the ohmic resistance of the electrolyte.隋静 董立峰 刘江 2012Journal of Rare Earths2012,30,1:10
The Cenozoic activities of Yangjiang-Yitongdong Fault: insights from analysis of the tectonic characteristics and evolution processes in western Zhujiang(Pearl) River Mouth Basin显示文摘The Yangjiang-Yitongdong Fault (YJF) is an important NW-trending regional fault, which divides the Zhujiang (Pearl) River Mouth Basin (ZRMB) into western and eastern segments. In Cenozoic, the northern continental margin of the South China Sea (SCS) underwent continental rifting, breakup, seafloor spreading and thermal subsidence processes, and the Cenozoic activities of YJF is one part of this series of complex processes. Two long NW-trending multichannel seismic profiles located on both sides of the YJF extending from the continental shelf to Continent-Ocean Boundary (COB) were used to study the tectonic and sedimentary characteristics of western ZRMB. Using the 2D-Move software and back-stripping method, we constructed the balance cross-section model and calculated the fault activity rate. Through the comprehensive consideration of tectonic position, tectonic evolution history, featured structure, and stress analysis, we deduced the activity history of the YJF in Cenozoic. The results showed that the YJF can be divided into two segments by the central uplift belt. From 65 Ma to 32 Ma, the YJF was in sinistral motion as a whole, inherited the preexisting sinistral motion of Mesozoic YJF, in which, the southern part of YJF was mainly in extension activity, controlling the formation and evolution of Yunkai Low Uplift, coupled with slight sinistral motion. From 32 Ma to 23.8 Ma, the sinistral motion in northern part of YJF continued, while the sinistral motion in southern part began to stop or shifted to a slightly dextral motion. After 23.8 Ma, the dextral motion in southern part of YJF continued, while the sinistral motion in northern part of YJF gradually stopped, or shifted to the slightly dextral motion. The shift of the YJF strike-slip direction may be related to the magmatic underplating in continent-ocean transition, southeastern ZRMB. According to the analysis of tectonic activity intensity and rift sedimentary structure, the activities of YJF in Cenozoic played a regulating role in the rift extension process of ZRMB.Yuhan Li Rongwei Zhu Hailing Liu Xuelin Qiu Haibo Huang 2019Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,9:10

Quasi-static Analysis of Thrust-loaded Angular Contact Ball Bearings Part Ⅱ:Results and Discussion显示文摘Ball bearings are widely employed mechanical components characterized by high precision and quality, and usually play important roles in various rotary machines and mechanisms. Many advanced applications require a deep understanding of their various kinematic and tribological characteristics that are essential to predict the fatigue endurance, relieve the vibration and minimize the power dissipation of ball bearings in particular applications. An angular contact ball bearing under a specified operating condition is simulated with the quasi-static/creepage analytical model proposed in the preceding article. The results demonstrate that the ball bearing is a statically determinate system. That the balls spin on both inner and outer races means the ball is controlled by neither the inner nor the outer raceway. The friction between the ball and raceway renders the inner and outer contact angles unequal. The larger the coefficient of friction is,the larger the angle deviation. The tangential traction perpendicular to the rolling direction due to the spin induces a gyro-like rotation of the ball with respect to the raceway even if no inertial effects are considered. The tangential elastic compliance of contacting surfaces gives rise to locked areas within the contact patch and transforms the sliding lines from circles into spirals. The differential slip due to the close conformity of the ball and raceway makes the sliding and traction distributions asymmetric, which will influence the location of the spinning center of the ball with respect to the raceway. The quasi-static/creepage model can be used to reveal the operating behaviors of ball bearings running under steady conditions and to optimize the design of ball bearings for specific applications.CHEN Wenhua1,2,MA Zikui1,GAO Liang1,LI Xinglin3,and PAN Jun2 1 Institute of Mechanical Design,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027,China 2 Institute of Mechanical Design and Manufacturing,Zhejiang Sci-Tech University,Hangzhou 310018,China 3 State Testing Laboratory of Hangzhou Bearing Test & Research Center,Hangzhou 310022,China 2012Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,1:7

Slip casting and pressureless sintering of Ti3AlC2显示文摘Slip casting and subsequent pressureless sintering(PLS)allow the preparation of complex-shaped and large-sized Ti3AlC2 components for many potential applications. The behaviors of the suspensions, green compacts, and sintered samples of Ti3AlC2 were studied in this paper. The optimized condition of 1 wt%of arabic gum as dispersant at pH=10 results in a Ti3AlC2 suspension for slip casting Ti3AlC2 green compacts without macro defects or cracks. The sintering temperature and Al4C3 embedding powder are found to dominate the properties of the sintered Ti3AlC2 samples. The Ti3AlC2 sample sintered at 1450℃for 1.5 h with Al4C3 embedding powder reaches the best properties, namely 95.3%relative density, hardness of 4.18 GPa,thermal conductivity of 29.11W·m-1·K-1,and electrical resistivity of 0.39μΩ·m.The findings in this work may pave the way for the application of MAX phases with large size and complex shape.Yimin GONG Wubian TIAN Peigen ZHANG Jian CHEN Yamei ZHANG Zhengming SUN 2019Journal of Advanced Ceramics2019,8,3:6
