Based on an analysis of documented internal-tide and internal-wave deposits, five facies types can be recognized: ( ⅰ ) bidirectional cross-laminated sandstone facies, ( ⅱ ) unidirectional cross-bedded and cross-laminated sandstone facies, ( ⅲ ) rhythmic alternating sandstone facies and mudstone, ( Ⅳ ) flaser, wavy and lenticular bedded foraminiferal limestone facies, ( Ⅴ ) sandy oolitic limestone facies with flaser, wavy and lenticular bedding and epsilon cross bedding, which formed in submarine channel, unchannelized continental slope and plateau environments respectively. | 4 | Clay surface modification and its coagulation of red tide organisms显示文摘Surface modification of montmorillonite by means of Mg2+ insertion reaction has been studied and a positively charged montmorillonite has been prepared. The effects of preparation temperature and Mg2+ concentration on the positive charge property of the clay and on the clay coagulating Heterosigma akashiwo have been studied. The results showed that the modified clay enhanced the coagulation and the used amount decreased to 1/5—1/10 of the original. | 8 | Determination of ocean tide loading displacements in Hong Kong using GPS technique显示文摘Ocean tide loading (OTL) displacements of eight principal constituents at 12 sites in Hong Kong were determined using more than eight years of continuous GPS observations. Parameters of the OTL displacements were estimated using daily GPS solutions obtained with precise point positioning (PPP) technique. The results were compared with predictions from seven latest global ocean tide models. Gravity measurements of OTL in Hong Kong were also used to validate the GPS results. The study shows that the results from both the GPS and gravity measurements agree best with the GOT4.7 and NAO99b models, when the K1 and K2 constituents are excluded. The agreements between the GPS and the model estimates are generally at sub-millimeter level in both the horizontal and vertical directions, except for S2, K2 and K1 constituents that have relatively larger errors. After removing the systematic biases between the GPS and the model estimates, the misfits of M2, S2, N2, O1, P1 and Q1 at all sites are within 0.5 and 1.0 mm in the horizontal and the vertical directions, respectively, whereas K1 and K2 show relatively larger misfits of up to 2.3 mm. Both the GPS and the gravity S2 estimates have large biases with unknown reasons when compared with the modeled values, which needs to be further investigated. | 10 | Distribution of chlorophyll-a off the Changjiang River and its dynamic cause interpretation显示文摘An interdisciplinary comprehensive survey was conducted in August 2000 with the modern measurement instruments off the Changjiang River. The analysis of the observation data shows that there exist two sources of phytoplankton blooms off the Changjiang River. The one with wider spatial extent and stronger intensity appears in the surface plume due to photosyn- thesis produced by the eutrophication brought by a huge amount of nutrient load via the Chang- jiang River and well light penetration because of lower turbidity seawater. Photosynthesis pro- duces chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), meanwhile releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide, so the high Chl-a concentration distribution corresponds to the distribution of high dissolved oxygen and pH. The other with smaller spatial extent and weaker intensity exists in the thermocline in the Taiwan Warm Current (TWC), but the high Chl-a concentration does not correspond to the high dissolved oxygen and pH, which may be a result of long distance advection by the TWC. The eutrophica- tion associated with the huge amount of nutrient flowing into the sea via the Changjiang River is the main cause of the red tide bloom in the area off the Changjiang River, the red tide that oc- curred along the Fujian and Zhejiang coast can influence the area off the Changjiang River pos- sibly via the TWC. | 11 | Tracing the settlement region of massive floating green algae in the Yellow Sea显示文摘Outbreaks of large-scale green tides formed by Ulva prolifera in the Yellow Sea (YS) cause heavy ecological damages and huge economic losses. However, the ecological consequences of green tides remain poorly understood due to the lack of knowledge on the settlement region of massive green algae floating in the YS. In this study, we established a method to trace the settlement region of floating green algae, using 28-isofucosterol preserved in sediment as the specific biomarker for green algae. Sterols including 28-isofucosterol in surface sediment samples collected during an investigation in the YS and the Bohai Sea (BS) in August 2015 were analyzed using gas chromatography coupled with a mass spectrometer (GC-MS). Based on the content of 28-isofucosterol in sediment samples, the potential settlement region of fl oating green algae was identifi ed in the sea area southeast to the Shandong Peninsula around the sampling site H06 (122.66°E, 36.00°N). | 12 | Allelopathic growth inhibition of Heterosigma akashiwo by the three Ulva spcieces(Ulva Pertusa,Ulva Linza,Enteromorpha intestinalis) under laboratory conditions显示文摘Allelopathic effects of several concentrations of fresh tissue,dry powder and dry tissue of three bloom-forming green macroalgae Ulva pertusa,Ulva linza and Enteromopha intestinalis on the red tide microalga Heterosigma akashiwo were evaluated in microcosms systems.The effects of macroalgae culture medium filtrate were investigated on H.akashiwo using initial or semi-continuous filtrate addition.Preliminary studies on the algicidal effects of one aqueous and four organic solvent extracts from the macroalgae on the microalga were carried out to confirm the existence of allelochemicals in the tissue of these macroalgae.The dry powder of U.pertusa was extracted with methanol,and the methanol extracts were partitioned to petroleum ether phase,ethyl acetate phase,butanol phase and distilled phase by liquid-liquid fractionation.The bioassays of the activity of every fraction were carried out on H.akashiwo.The resultant microcosms assay showed that the growth of H.akashiwo was strongly inhibited by using fresh tissues,dry powder or dry tissue of these three macroalgae,while aqueous and methanol extracts of both macroalgae had strong inhibitory effects on the growth of H.akashiwo,and the EC 50 values for methanol extract of U.pertusa,U.linza or E.intestinalis were 0.016,0.028×10-12 or 0.033×10-12,respectively.While the other three organic solvent extracts(acetone,ether and chloroform) had no apparent effect on its growth,this suggests that the allelochemicals from these three macroalgae had relatively high polarities.The activity of petroleum ether phase,ethyl acetate phase,butanol phase and distilled phase of U.pertusa methanol extract was carried out on H.akashiwo indicating that petroleum ether phase and ethyl acetate phase had stronger algicidal effect on H.akashiwo.The inhibition effect of the ethyl acetate phase was not as strong as that of petroleum ether phase,and effective concentration of petroleum ether phase was 17 mg/L for H.akashiwo.However,no significant algicidal effects were observed on the butanol phase and distilled water phase.These three macroalgae's culture medium filtrate exhibited no apparent growth inhibitory effect on the microalga under initial filtrate addition whereas the growth of H.akashiwo was significantly inhibited under semi-continuous filtrate addition,which suggests that continuous release of small quantities of rapidly degradable allelochemicals from the fresh tissue of both macroalgae was effective in inhibiting the growth of H.akashiwo. | WANG Renjun FENG Lei TANG Xuexi WANG Jinhe DONG Shuanglin | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,3: | 7 |

| 15 | Computation of Wave, Tide and Wind Current for the South China Sea Under Tropical Cyclones显示文摘Based on the third-generation oceanic wave prediction model (WAVEWATCH Ⅲ),the third-generation nearshore wave calculation model (SWAN) and the mathematical tide, tidal current and cyclone current model, which have been improved, interconnected and expanded, a coupled model of offshore wave, tide and sea current under tropical cyclone surges in the South China Sea has been established. The coupled model is driven by the tropical cyclone field containing the background wind field. In order to test the hindcasting effect of the mathematical model, a comparison has been made between the calculated results and the observational results of waves of 15 cyclone cases, water levels and current velocities of the of 7 cyclones. The biomass changes lagged by about two days the corresponding DIP. The research also dealt with the minimal DIP concentration for stopping diatom bloom and the possible maximal diatom biomass was estimated from the DIP external concentration in the seawater. The threshold of DIP initiating Skeletonema costatum red tide was calculated for use as an index to forecast its red tides. In addition, the relationships between a dinoflagellate red tide and nutrients are discussed.
