The joint long-term distribution of design environmental factors for offshore structures Multivariate probabilities and simulating method显示文摘With the development of ocean engineering, it is one of the most important factors which determine the structural safety, cost and suitable forms of engineerings to select the ocean environmental design criteria. Owing to the complexity , variation and randomness of ocean environmental conditions, the commonly used methods for determining design criteria cannot consider the joint occurring probabilities of several environmental factors ,therefore, lead to overestimate design criteria of them and result in an unnecessary overspend invest in engineering. On the basis of the measured and hindcasting data and the multi-demension joint probability theory, this paper presented the study of the joint loads of wind , wave and current on the offshore structures and its responsible joint probability level with the application of random simulation techniques, and presented the joint design criteria of environmental loads for the realistic design of engineerings. | Shi Jiangang, Liu Defu and Wang Zheng Department of Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture, Tianjin University, Tianjin 300072, China | 1993 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica1993,12,3: | 3
General collision branching processes with two parameters显示文摘A new class of branching models, the general collision branching processes with two parameters,is considered in this paper. For such models,it is necessary to evaluate the absorbing probabilities and mean extinction times for both absorbing states.Regularity and uniqueness criteria are firstly established.Explicit expressions are then obtained for the extinction probability vector, the mean extinction times and the conditional mean extinction times. The explosion behavior of these models is investigated and an explicit expression for mean explosion time is established. The mean global holding time is also obtained. It is revealed that these properties are substantially different between the super-explosive and sub-explosive cases. | CHEN AnYue LI JunPing | 2009 | Science China Mathematics2009,52,7: | 2
Settlement predictions of footings on sands using probabilisticanalysis显示文摘The design of footings on sands is often controlled by settlement rather than bearing capacity. Therefore, settlement predictions are essential in the design of shallow foundations. However, predicted settlements of footings are highly dependent on the chosen elastic modulus and the used method. This paper presents the use of probabilistic analysis to evaluate the variability of predicted settlements of footings on sands, focusing on the load curve(predicted settlements)characterization.Three methodologies, the first-and second-order second-moment(FOSM and SOSM),and Monte Carlo simulation(MCS),for calculating the mean and variance of the estimated settlements through Schmertmann(1970)'s equation, are presented and discussed. The soil beneath the footing is treated as an uncorrelated layered material,so the total settlement and variance are found by adding up the increments of the layers. The deformability modulus(ESi)is considered as the only independent random variable. As an example of application,a hypothetical case of a typical subsoil in the state of Espirito Santo, southeast of Brazil,is evaluated. The results indicate that there is a significant similarity between the SOSM and MCS methods, while the FOSM method underestimates the results due to the non-consideration of the high-order terms in Taylor's series. The contribution of the knowledge of the uncertainties in settlement prediction can provide a safer design. | felipe carvalho bungenstab kátia vanessa bicalho | 2016 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2016,8,2: | 1
Composite anti-disturbance resilient control for Markovian jump nonlinear systems with general uncertain transition rate显示文摘In this paper, the issue of disturbance observer based resilient control is addressed for Markovian jump nonlinear systems with multiple disturbances and general uncertain transition rates. The disturbances are divided into two parts: one has a bounded H2 norm, and the other is given by an exogenous system. The general uncertain transition rate matrix is composed of unknown elements and uncertain ones. The uncertain transition rate only has a known approximate range. First, the disturbance described by the exogenous system is estimated by a disturbance observer, and its estimation is used for the controller as feedforward compensation. Subsequently, by using the resilient control method, a composite anti-disturbance resilient controller is constructed to guarantee stochastic stability with L_2-L_∞ performance of the closed-loop systems. Subsequently, the Lyapunov stability method and linear matrix inequality technique are applied to obtain the controller gain. Finally, an application example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. | Guangdeng ZONG Yankai LI Haibin SUN | 2019 | Science China(Information Sciences)2019,62,2: | 1
Lifetime measurements in chiral nucleus ^(130)Cs显示文摘The level lifetimes in partner bands of 130Cs have been measured using the Doppler Shift Attenuation method. The high-spin states of 130Cs were populated via fusion evaporation reaction 124Sn(11B,5n)130Cs at a beam energy of 65 MeV. The absolute M1 and E2 transition probabilities have been deduced. The results indicate that the partner bands of 130Cs manifest the chiral properties. | 王烈林 吴晓光 竺礼华 李广生 郝昕 郑云 贺创业 汪雷 李雪琴 刘颖 潘波 李忠宇 丁怀博 | 2009 | Chinese Physics C2009,33,S1: | 1
Thermal and radiative characteristics of oxyfluoride glass singly doped with lanthanide ions显示文摘Rare earths-doped oxyfluoride glasses based on germanium oxide and lead fluoride were prepared from commercial raw materials. The glasses with general composition of 50GeO2-(50-x-y)PbO-yPbF2-xLnF3 (Ln=Pr3+-Yb3+), contained different concentrations of optically active dopants (x=0.2 mol.% and 2 mol.%) and PbF2 (y≤15 mol.%). The differential thermal analysis (DTA) was used to determine both thermal characteristic and thermal stability properties of the glasses in the function of the kind of dopant, its concentration, and a glass composition. Characteristic glass temperatures such as glass transition temperature (Tg), glass crystallization temperature (Tc) and temperature corresponding to the maximum of the crystallization rate (Tpc) were evaluated. On the basis of obtained results, the thermal stabilities of glasses under study were evaluated using various thermal stability criteria (Dietzel factor ?T, Saad-Poulain factors H' and S). It was found that the increase in rare earth fluoride contents influenced thermal characteristics when the characteristic temperatures of the individual glass was shifted towards higher values. The effect of the PbF2 content and the kind of rare earth impurity on the glass stability was observed. Absorption spectra of lanthanide-doped glasses were measured at room temperature and used to determine the phenomenological intensity parameters Ωt and next, to estimate radiative properties of lanthanide ions in this matrix. Radiative transition probabilities of luminescent states of Ln3+, branching ratios and radiative lifetimes were determined. The variation of the Ωt along the lanthanide series was presented and discussed. | Barbara KLIMESZ Grazyna DOMINIAK-DZIK Witold RYBA-ROMANOWSKI | 2010 | Journal of Rare Earths2010,28,6: | 0
A quantum scattering study of collinear state-to-state reaction probabilities for the F+H_2(ν)→-HF(v')+H system显示文摘A new quantum scattering approach (linear combination of arrangement channels-scattering wavefunction,LCAC-SW) proposed by Deng and his co-workers is used to calculate collinear state-to-state reaction probabilities for the F + H-2(v)→HF(v’)+H system.Several interesting problems such as threshold energy, compound states and enhance by translational energy of the reactants and the vibration excitation of products are discussed and they are compared with other theoretical investigations reported in the literature. It is shown that the LCAC-SW approach is the successful one of quantum scattering methods. | 吕文彩 蔡政亭 邓从豪 | 1998 | Chinese Journal of Chemistry1998,16,4: | 0
Assessing Probabilities of Unique Events in Decision Making显示文摘This paper outlines a two-stage assessment procedure for deriving probabilities of unique events. The calculations are illustrated using possible events pertaining to the Lehman failure in 2008.The procedures utilize pairwise comparisons associated with the Analytic Hierarchy Process.Typical betting odds are used to motivate an ordering of qualitative judgments that are then converted into quantitative assessments and finally a probability distribution. | Warren Richard Hughes | 2018 | Chinese Business Review2018,17,1: | 0
Assessing Probabilities of Unique Events: A New Approach显示文摘Decision-makers in unique or one-off situations may have difficulties in framing the probabilities of possible events that are required in modern decision-making. This paper illustrates a new approach to probability determination based on pairwise primary judgments on the relative likelihoods of the possible events. Related “news” on the situation can also be used to update these prior probabilities using Bayesian Revision. Illustrative calculations outline the entire process through to determination of posterior probabilities following a “news” event. | Warren Richard Hughes | 2019 | Chinese Business Review2019,18,1: | 0
Probabilistic Quantitative Temporal Constraints:Representing,Reasoning, and Query Answering显示文摘In many applications and domains, temporal constraints between actions, and their probabilities play an important role. We propose the first approach in the literature coping with probabilistic quantitative constraints. To achieve such a challenging goal, we extend the widely used simple temporal problem(STP) framework to consider probabilities.Specifically,we propose i) a formal representation of probabilistic quantitative constraints, ii) an algorithm, based on the operations of intersection and composition, for the propagation of such temporal constraints, and iii) facilities to support query answering on a set of such constraints. As a result, we provide users with the first homogeneous method supporting the treatment(representing, reasoning, and querying) of probabilistic quantitative constraints, as required by many applications and domains. | Paolo Terenziani Antonella Andolina | 2018 | Journal of Electronic Science and Technology2018,16,1: | 0
