1Biochar increases soil microbial biomass with changes in extra-and intracellular enzyme activities:a global meta-analysis显示文摘Biochar application to soil has been proposed as a potential management strategy to enhance soil carbon(C)sequestration, reduce greenhouse gas emission, improve soil quality, and increase crop productivity. The effects of biochar on soil microbial and enzyme activities are integrally linked to the potential of biochar in achieving these benefits. We conducted a global meta-analysis to assess the effects of biochar on soil microbial biomass C and nitrogen(N)and the activities of 12 enzymes, and identify key factors affecting those soil microbial properties using 964 data points from 72 papers. We found that biochar effects on enzyme activities vary widely with soil type, biochar property and the type of enzyme studied.Biochar significantly increased microbial biomass C(MBC)and urease, alkaline phosphatase and dehydrogenase activities by 21.7%,23.1%,25.4%and 19.8%,respectively,with no significant negative effects on any of the enzymes analyzed in this study.Biochar application was more effective in increasing MBC and enzyme activities in soils with low pH(<6.5),TC(<20 g kg^(−1)),TN(<2 g kg^(−1)),and a fine texture(including clay, clay loam and silt clay).Biochars produced at pyrolysis temperature of 350-550℃ with a high pH(>10)and low C/N ratio(<50)increased MBC and urease and dehydrogenase activities.Biochar increased MBC and N-acquisition enzyme activities in the field but not in lab incubation experiments.Urease was increased in short-term studies(within 100 days of biochar application)while alkaline phosphatase was increased in long-term studies that span more than 1 year. The increase in MBC and activities of some soil enzymes in response to biochar application with no negative effects on any hydrolytic and oxidative enzymes illustrate its potential to enhance soil quality particularly in the degraded soils with low nutrient availability and fertility due to limited soil microbial and enzymatic activities. This study also shows that biochars can be designed to achieve specific properties for enhancing microbial and enzymatic activities for specific soils.Prem Pokharel Zilong Ma Scott X.Chang 2020Biochar2020,2,1:18
2Catalytic performances of kaoline and silica alumina in the thermal degradation of polypropylene显示文摘Polypropylene was cracked thermally and catalytically in the presence of kaoline and silica alumina in a semi batch reactor in the temperature range 400℃~550℃ in order to obtain suitable liquid fuels. The dependencies between process temperatures, types of catalyst, feed compositions and product yields of the obtained fuel fractions were found. It was observed that up to 450℃ thermal cracking temperature, the major product of pyrolysis was liquid oil and the major product at other higher temperatures(475℃~550℃) are viscous liquid or wax and the highest yield of pyrolysis product is 82.85% by weight at 500℃.Use of kaoline and silica alumina decreased the reaction time and increased the yield of liquid fraction.Again the major pyrolysis product in catalytic pyrolysis at all temperatures was low viscous liquid oil.Silica alumina was found better as compared to kaoline in liquid yield and in reducing the reaction temperature. The maximum oil yield using silica alumina and kaoline catalyst are 91% and 89.5% respectively. On the basis of the obtained results hypothetical continuous process of waste polypropylene plastics processing for engine fuel production can be presented.Achyut K Panda R K Singh 2011燃料化学学报2011,39,3:15
3Single and competitive adsorption affinity of heavy metals toward peanut shell-derived biochar and its mechanisms in aqueous systems显示文摘Converting peanut shells into biochar by pyrolysis was considered an environmentally friendly and efficient method for agricultural solid waste disposal. The properties of peanut shell-derived biochar(PBC)under different temperature and its adsorption capacity of heavy metals were investigated. It was found that PBC400 exhibited the highest cumulative capability for heavy metals elimination in single solute because of its high specific surface area and rich functional groups.Furthermore, the competitive adsorption revealed that PBC had a substantial difference in adsorption affinity from diverse heavy metal ions, sorption capacity decreased as Pb2+>Cu2+>Cd2+>Ni2+>Zn2+,which was lower than in a single solute. The adsorption process using selected biochar was optimized with respect to p H,reaction time, adsorbent dose, and initial concentration of heavy metals. The kinetic data was well fitted with PSO model, and the Langmuir model was adopted for adsorption equilibrium data in both cases of single solutes and mixed solutes for all heavy metals, which indicated that the removal course was primarily explained by monolayer adsorption, and chemical adsorption occupied an important role. Therefore, peanut shells derived biochar could be a potential and green adsorbent for wastewater treatment.Rui Shan Yueyue Shi Jing Gu YazhuoWang Haoran Yuan 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,5:14
4Biomass pyrolysis: A review of the process development and challenges from initial researches up to the commercialisation stage显示文摘Lignocellulosic biomass can be convert to a condensable liquid named bio-oil,a solid product named as char and a mixture of gaseous products comprising CO2,CO,H2,CH4,etc.In recent years, much effort has been made on the investigation of conversion of biomass through pyrolysis. However, commercialisation of the biomass pyrolysis technology is still challenging due to various issues such as the deleterious properties of bio-oil including the low heating value and the high instability at elevated temperatures. To overcome such issues, many processes, reactors and catalysts have been developed for pyrolysis and catalytic pyrolysis of biomass.A state to the art of pyrolysis or catalytic pyrolysis of biomass need to be summarised to have an overall evaluation of the technologies,in order to provide a useful reference for the further development of pyrolysis technology. This study reviews the various pyrolysis process, especially focus on the effects of essential parameters, the process design, the reactors and the catalysts on the pyrolysis process. In addition, progress in commercialisation of pyrolysis technology was also reviewed and the remaining issues in the process of commercialisation were discussed.Xun Hu Mortaza Gholizadeh 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,12:13
5Hierarchical ZSM-11 with intergrowth structures:Synthesis, characterization and catalytic properties显示文摘Hierarchical ZSM-11 microspheres with intercrystalline mesoporous properties and rod-like crystals intergrowth morphology have been synthesized using a spot of tetrabutylammonium as a single template.XRD,FTIR,SEM,TEM and N2 adsorption analysis revealed that each individual particle was composed of nanosized rod crystals inserting each other and the intercrystalline voids existing among rods gave a significant mesopore size distribution.Steam treatment result demonstrated the excellent hydrothermal stability of samples.Various crystallization modes including constant temperature crystallization (one-stage crystallization) and two-stage temperature-varying crystallization with different 1st stage durations were investigated. The results suggested that the crystallization modes were mainly responsible for the adjustable particle size and textural properties of samples while the small amount of tetrabutylammonium bromide was mainly used to direct the formation of both ZSM-11 framework and its intergrowth morphology.Furthermore, the performance of optimal ZSM-11 as an active component for the catalytic pyrolysis of heavy oil was also investigated.Compared with the commercial pyrolysis catalyst, the hierarchical ZSM-11 catalyst exhibited a high selectivity to desired products(LPG+gasoline+diesel),as well as a much lower dry gas and coke yield, plus a high selectivity and yield of light olefins(C=3 C=4)and very poor selectivity to benzene. Therefore, fully open micropore-mesopore connectivity would make such hierarchically porous ZSM-11 zeolites very attractive for applications in clean petrochemical catalysis field.Qingjun Yu Chaoyue Cui Qiang Zhang Jing Chen Yang Li Jinpeng Sun Chunyi Li Qiukai Cui Chaohe Yang Honghong Shan 2013Journal of Energy Chemistry2013,22,5:10
6Potential Benefits of Biochar in Agricultural Soils:A Review显示文摘Soil degradation, characterized by declines in nutrient status and simultaneous accumulation of pesticide residues,is a major problem affecting agricultural ecosystems.Previous studies indicate that biochar application to soil has promise as a practical method to alleviate these pressures:increasing crop yield and enhancing pesticide degradation. Here,we review the roles of biochar in both chemical and biological promotion of pesticide degradation and the potential benefits of biochar relating to the efficiency of fertilizer use, availability of nutrients, and nutrient exchange.Biochar typically has a high surface area featuring many functional groups,a high cation exchange capacity, and high stability.Major factors that impact on the nutrient retention characteristics of biochar(e.g.,feedstock,pyrolysis temperature, and application rate) are also discussed herein.Nonetheless, more studies of the long-term impacts on soil properties from biochar addition are still required before it can be possible to accurately quantify the sustainability of this approach to sequester carbon and restore soil function.DING Yang LIU Yunguo LIU Shaobo HUANG Xixian LI Zhongwu TAN Xiaofei ZENG Guangming ZHOU Lu 2017Pedosphere2017,27,4:10
73D C_f/SiBCN composites prepared by an improved polymer infiltration and pyrolysis显示文摘Using liquid poly(methylvinyl)borosilazanes(PMVBSZ)as precursor, carbon fiber reinforced SiBCN matrix composites(C_f/SiBCN)were fabricated by a modified polymer infiltration and pyrolysis(PIP)process. With dicumyl peroxide added as cross-linking agent, the PMVBSZ could be solidified at a low temperature of 120℃,leading to a high ceramic yield of~70%.The cross-linking mechanism and ceramization processes of the precursor were investigated in detail. Moreover,a modified infiltration technology was developed, which improved the efficiency and protected the precursor against moist air during PIP.Consequently, the obtained C_f/SiBCN composites had an oxygen content of around 1.22 wt%.Benefiting from the high ceramic yield and high efficiency of the modified PIP,C_f/SiBCN composites with an open porosity of~10%and uniform microstructure were obtained after only 7 cycles of PIP.The flexural strength and fracture toughness of the derived C_f/SiBCN composites were 371 MPa and 12.9 MPa·m^(1/2),respectively.This work provides a potential route for the fabrication of high performance C_f/SiBCN composites.Qi DING Dewei NI Zhen WANG Hao ZHONG Hongda WANG Haijun ZHOU Yanmei KAN Shaoming DONG 2018Journal of Advanced Ceramics2018,7,3:9

9One-step synthesis of N-doped metal/biochar composite using NH_3-ambiance pyrolysis for efficient degradation and mineralization of Methylene Blue显示文摘A series of new biochar-supported composite based on the combination of biochar and metallic nanoparticles(NPs)were produced through single-step pyrolysis of FeCl_3–Ti(OBu)_4 laden agar biomass under NH_3 environment. The physiochemical properties of composites were characterized thoroughly. It has found that heating temperature and N-doping through NH_3-ambiance pyrolysis significantly influence the visible-light sensitivity and bandgap energy of composites. The catalytic activities of composites were measured by degradation of Methylene Blue(MB)in the presence or absence of H_2O_2 and visible-light irradiation. Our best catalyst(N–TiO_2–Fe_3O_4-biochar)exhibits rapid and high MB removal competency(99.99%)via synergism of adsorption, photodegradation, and Fenton-like reaction.Continuous production of O_2U^-and UOH radicles performs MB degradation and mineralization, confirmed by scavenging experiments and degradation product analysis. The local trap state Ti^(3+),Fe_3O_4,and N-carbon of the catalyst acted as active sites. It has suggested that the Ti^(3+)and N-doped dense carbon layer improve charge separation and shuttle that prolonged photo-Fenton like reaction. Moreover, the catalyst is highly stable, collectible, and recyclable up to 5 cycles with high MB degradation efficiency. This work provides a new insight into the synthesis of highly visible-light sensitized biocharsupported photocatalyst through NH_3-ambiance pyrolysis of NPs-laden biomass.Md Manik Mian Guijian Liu Balal Yousaf Biao Fu Rafay Ahmed Qumber Abbas Mehr Ahmed Mujtaba Munir Liu Ruijia 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,4:8
10Effects of biochar application on fluxes of three biogenic greenhouse gases: a meta- analysis显示文摘Biochar application to cropland has been recommended as a strategy to reduce increasing at-mospheric CO2 concentrations and mitigate climate change. However, the direction and magnitude of responses of greenhouse gas(GHG)fluxes to biochar application to cropland remain unclear. Our meta-analysis of 296 observations across 61 studies for the first time quantitatively estimated the effects of biochar amendment on fluxes of three GHGsCO2,N2O,and CH4.The results showed that biochar application led to a significant change in soil GHGs emissions:in general,19%for CO2,−16%for N2O(P<0.05),but no pronounced change in CH4 emissions;in paddy,−5%for CO2,−20%for N2O,but+19%for CH4(P<0.05);in upland,−18%for N2O,+12%for CO2,and high uncertainty for CH4.The responses of soil GHG flux-es to biochar application were regulated mainly by experiment length, biochar application rate, biochar properties, providing a new perspective for more comprehensive understanding on biochar. The bio-char derived from husk was recommended to apply to cropland with an application rate of 20-30 t·ha^(−1).Xinzhang Song Genxing Pan Chao Zhang Lu Zhang Hailong Wang 2016Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2016,2,2:8
11Suppressing secondary reactions of coal pyrolysis by reducing pressure and mounting internals in fixed-bed reactor显示文摘Pyrolysis of Shenmu coal was performed in fixed-bed reactors indirectly heated by reducing operating pressure and mounting internals in the reactor to explore their synergetic effects on coal pyrolysis. Mounting internals particularly designed greatly improved the heat transfer inside coal bed and raised the yield of tar production.Reducing pressure further facilitated the production of tar through its suppression of secondary reactions occurring in the reactor. The absolute increase in tar yield reached 3.33 wt% in comparison with the pyrolysis in the reactor without internals under atmospheric pressure. The obtained tar yield in the reactor with internals under reduced pressure was even higher than the yield of Gray–King assay. Through experiments in a laboratory fixed bed reactor, it was also clarified that the effect of reducing pressure is related to volatile release rate in pyrolysis. It did not obviously vary tar yield at pyrolysis temperatures below 600 °C, while the effect was evident at 650 and 700 °C but became limited again above 800 °C. Under reduced pressure the produced tar contained more aliphatics and phenols but less aromatics.Shuai Cheng Dengguo Lai Zhen Shi Leisheng Hong Jianling Zhang Xi Zeng Shiqiu Gao Guangwen Xu 2017Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,4:7
12Comparative kinetics of coal and oil shale pyrolysis in a micro fluidized bed reaction analyzer显示文摘The characteristics and kinetics of coal and oil shale pyrolysis were comparatively studied by using a micro fluidized bed reaction analyzer(MFBRA).The isothermal differential model was first applied to calculate the kinetic parameters of activation energy and frequency factor according to the major gas components during pyrolysis. The results showed that the major gas components released from coal and oil shale under the isothermal condition had different initiating and ending time points, and the difference was more significant under the programmed heating conditions. The shrinking core model allowed better fitting relevance for the coal pyrolysis, while the three-dimension model was more suitable for oil shale pyrolysis, indicating that the gases from the pyrolysis process of coal and oil shale might go through different reaction paths. The activation energy of oil shale pyrolysis was 36.96 kJ·mol^(−1),larger than the value of pyrolysis of the two coals, which was 21.16 and 32.17 kJ·mol^(−1),respectively.The above results justified that the oil shale pyrolysis with high ash contents was somehow more difficult to take place in terms of higher activation energy and the MFBRA could be a useful tool to give some insight into the intrinsic kinetics and reaction mechanisms of coal and oil shale pyrolysis.Yuming Zhang Mengxuan Zhao Rongxuan Linghu Chengxiu Wang Shu Zhang 2019Carbon Resources Conversion2019,2,3:7
13Kinetics of early methane generation from Green River shale显示文摘During oil/gas exploration in an area, there is a question as to whether methane in the strata was generated \%in situ\% mainly by thermal degradation of local organic matter. The key to the question is whether the kerogen could produce methane of more than 80 mL/g TOC, when its \%R\%\-o increased from initial (0.36%) to current value of 0.70% during thermal evolution. The authors have made efforts to answer this question by the kinetics method. First, a series of pyrolysis experiments were carried out to obtain data of methane yield and \%R\%\-o evolution, from which kinetic parameters of methane and \%R\%\-o were derived; then these parameters were extrapolated to the geological condition and finally, a methane yield, 96 mL/g TOC, was predicted. The result suggests that from the view of hydrocarbon generation, methane in the seam should be from thermal degradation of local kerogen.LIU Jinzhong\+1 and TANG Yongchun 2 1. 14Analysis of ingredient and heating value of municipal solid waste显示文摘Great differences between municipal solid wastes(MSW)produced at different places and different times in terms of such parameters as physical ingredient and heating value lead to difficulty in effective handling of MSW. In this paper, ingredient, heating value and their temporal varying trends of typical MSW in Beijing were continuously measured and analyzed. With consideration of the process in pyrolysis and incineration, correlation between physical ingredients and heating values was induced, favorable for evaluation of heating value needed in handling of MSW from simple analysis of physical ingredients of it.TIAN Wen-dong WEI Xiao-lin WU Dong-yin LI Jun SHENG Hong-zhi 2001Journal of Environmental Sciences2001,13,1:7
15Microencapsulated ammonium polyphosphate by polyurethane with segment of dipentaerythritol and its application in flame retardant polypropylene显示文摘Dipentaerythritol(DPER),4,40-diphenylmethanediisocyanate(MDI)and melamine(MEL)are used as raw materials to microencapsulate ammonium polyphosphate(MAPP)in situ polymerization. The MAPP is characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA).The results show that the coating operation can effectively improve water resistance of ammonium polyphosphate(APP),and MAPP has higher residual rate than that of APP after combustion. The flame retardant action of MAPP and APP in polypropylene(PP)is investigated by the limited oxygen index(LOI),vertical burning test(UL-94),TGA,SEM,and cone calorimeter test(CCT).The LOI value of the PP/MAPP composite at the same loading is higher than that of PP/APP composite.UL 94 ratings of PP/MAPP composites are raised to V-0 at 20 wt%loading. The results of CCT also show that MAPP is more efficient than APP.The morphological structures observed by digital photos and SEM demonstrated that MAPP could be promoted to form the continuous and compact intumescent char layer. The flame retardant mechanism of PP/MAPP is also discussed.Shouwu Yu Shujuan Xiao Zewen Zhao Xiaowen Huo Junfu Wei 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,7:6
16Pyrolysis of scrap tyres pretreated by waste coal tar显示文摘For disposal of scrap tyres, there have been a lot of studies done by previous researchers, but it yet remains a longstanding challenge in practice. To find a solution for this problem, the feasibility of a proposed approach in a laboratory scale was tested. The pyrolysis of scrap tyres pretreated by waste coal tar(noted as 'as-pretreated' tyres)was performed in a batch reactor at atmospheric pressure.Waste coal tar was used to modify the scrap tyres to improve the pyrolysis efficiency of scrap tyres input and the quality of the product tar.The swelling behavior of scrap tyres soaked in waste coal tar at 10℃,effect of pyrolysis temperature on the product yields, and the synergies during pyrolysis of the as-pretreated tyres and co-pyrolysis of scrap tyres/waste coal tar mixture were all investigated in detail. The results observed found that by comparison of the calculated yields and the observed experimental yields for pyrolysis products, the synergy from co-pyrolysis of scrap tyres/waste coal tar mixture boosted the gas yield without increasing the tar yield. In contrast, the synergy during pyrolysis of the as-pretreated tyres could enhance the tar yield, but reduced the gas and char yields.According to the distillation range analyses of the tar, more light fractions were found in the tar from pyrolysis of the as-pretreated tyres,in which the gasoline fraction, diesel fraction and kerosene fraction were 38.4 wt%,46.8 wt%and 50.2 wt%,respectively. This work is expected to be helpful in further use of scrap tyres.Shaobo Ouyang Daoling Xiong Yang Li Laixi Zou Jifan Chen 2018Carbon Resources Conversion2018,1,3:6
17Maturity Control on the Patterns of Hydrocarbon Regeneration from Coal显示文摘Rock-Eval pyrolysis and Py-GC experiments on naturally and artificially matured coal samples were carried out. The results suggest that both depolymerization and defuctionalization exist during the maturation and evolution of coal. The patterns of hydrocarbon regeneration are diverse at different stages of the maturation and evolution. When the vitrinite reflectance (R0) is 0.7%-0.9%, bitumen is the richest in coal while activation energy is the minimum, and the temperature of peak yield is lower than that of primary hydrocarbon generation. However, if reflectance is greater than 0.9%, defunctionalization predominates and the temperature of peak regeneration is shown in lagging compared with the primary hydrocarbon generation. When reflectance is out of the 'oil window', the peak temperature of hydrocarbon regeneration and that of the primary hydrocarbon generation seems to be continuous.ZOU Yanrong YANG Qi LIU Dameng KANG Xidong TANG Dazhen 2000Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2000,74,2:6
18Thermal simulation of the formation and evolution of coalbed gas显示文摘Thermal simulation experiment of gas generation from the peat and the coals were performed using the high temperature and pressure apparatus, at temperature ranging from 336.8-600℃, a pressure of 50MPa and two heating rates of 20℃/h and 2℃/h, and the evolution and formation of coalbed gas components were studied. Results show that for the coals, the gaseous products are mainly composed of hydrocarbon gases. However, for the peat the content of hydrocarbon gases in gaseous products is lower than that of non-hydrocarbon components. In the generated hydrocarbon gases methane is predominant and heavy hydrocarbon gases (C2-5) are present in small amount. Meanwhile, carbon dioxide (CO2) predominates the generated non-hydrocarbon gases, and hydrogen (H2) and sul-furated hydrogen (H2S) are existent in trace amount. It is also observed that temperature is the main factor controlling the evolution of coalbed gas generation. With increasing vitrinite reflectance, methane rapidly increases, CO2 sightly increases, and C2-5 hydrocarbons first increase and then decrease. The peat and Shanxi formation coal have a higher generative potential of coalbed gases than coals and Taiyuan formation coal, respectively, reflecting the effect of the property of organic matter on the characteristics of coalbed gas component generation. In this study, it is found that low heating rate is favorable for the generation of methane, H2 and CO2, and the decomposition of C2-5 hydrocarbons. This shows that heating time plays an important controlling role in the generation and evolution of coalbed gases. The results obtained from the simulation experiment in the study of coalbed gases in natural system are also discussed.DUAN Yi WU Baoxiang ZHENG Chaoyang WANG Chuanyuan 2005Chinese Science Bulletin2005,50,S1:5
19Speciation and thermal transformation of sulfur forms in high-sulfur coal and its utilization in coal-blending coking process:A review显示文摘The utilization of high-sulfur coal is becoming more urgent due to the excessive utilization of low-sulfur,high-quality coal resources, and sulfur removal from high-sulfur coal is the most important issue. This paper reviews the speciation, forms and distribution of sulfur in coal, the sulfur removal from raw coal, the thermal transformation of sulfur during coal pyrolysis, and the sulfur regulation during coal-blending coking of high organic-sulfur coals. It was suggested that the proper characterization of sulfur in coal cannot be obtained only by either chemical method or instrumental characterization, which raises the need of a combination of current or newly adopted characterization methods.Different from the removal of inorganic sulfur from coal, the organic sulfur can only be partly removed by chemical technologies;and the coal structure and property, particularly high-sulfur coking coals which have caking ability, may be altered and affected by the pretreatment processes.Based on the interactions among the sulfur radicals,sulfur-containing and hydrogen-containing fragments during coal pyrolysis and the reactions with minerals or nascent char, regulating the sulfur transformation behavior in the process of thermal conversion is the most effective way to utilize high organic-sulfur coals in the coke-making industry. An in-situ regulation approach of sulfur transformation during coal-blending coking has been suggested. That is,the high volatile coals with an appropriate releasing temperature range of CH4 overlapping well with that of H2 S from high organic-sulfur coals is blended with high organic-sulfur coals, and the C–S/C–C bonds in some sulfur forms are catalytically broken and immediately hydrogenated by the hydrogencontaining radicals generated from high volatile coals.Wherein, the effect of mass transfer on sulfur regulation during the coking process should be considered for the larger-scale coking tests through optimizing the ratios of different coals in the coal blend.Yanfeng Shen Yongfeng Hu Meijun Wang Weiren Bao Liping Chang Kechang Xie 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,7:5
20Revolutions in algal biochar for different applications:State-of-the-art techniques and future scenarios显示文摘Algae are potential feedstock for the production of bioenergy and valuable chemicals. After the extraction of specific value-added products, algal residues can be further conve rted into biogas, biofuel, and biochar through various thermochemical treatments such as conventional pyrolysis, microwave pyrolysis, hydrothermal conversion, and torrefaction. The compositions and physicochemical characteristics of algal biochar that dete rmine the subsequent applications are compre hensively discussed.Algal biochar carbonized at high-temperature showed remarkable performance for use as supercapacitors,CO_(2) adsorbents, and persulfate activation, due to its graphitic carbon structure, high electron transport, and specific surface area. The algal biochar produced by pyrolysis at mode rate-temperature exhibits high performance for adsorption of pollutants due to combination of miscellaneous functional groups and po rous structures, whereas coal fuel can be obtained fro m algae via torrefaction by pyrolysis at relatively low-tempe rature. The aim of this review is to study the production of algal biochar in a cost-effective and environmental-friendly method and to reduce the environmental pollution associated with bioenergy generation.achieving zero emission enerev production.Yi-Di Chen Feiyu Liu Nan-Qi Ren Shih-Hsin Ho 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:5
