| 1 | Silicon and silicon nitride photonic circuits for spectroscopic sensing on-a-chip [Invited]显示文摘There is a rapidly growing demand to use silicon and silicon nitride(Si3N4) integrated photonics for sensing applications, ranging from refractive index to spectroscopic sensing. By making use of advanced CMOS technology, complex miniaturized circuits can be easily realized on a large scale and at a low cost covering visible to mid-IR wavelengths. In this paper we present our recent work on the development of silicon and Si3N4-based photonic integrated circuits for various spectroscopic sensing applications. We report our findings on waveguide-based absorption, and Raman and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Finally we report on-chip spectrometers and on-chip broadband light sources covering very near-IR to mid-IR wavelengths to realize fully integrated spectroscopic systems on a chip. | Ananth Z.Subramanian Eva Ryckeboer Ashim Dhakal Frédéric Peyskens Aditya Malik Bart Kuyken Haolan Zhao Shibnath Pathak Alfonso Ruocco Andreas De Groote Pieter Wuytens Daan Martens Francois Leo Weiqiang Xie Utsav Deepak Dave Muhammad Muneeb Pol Van Dorpe Joris Van Campenhout Wim Bogaerts Peter Bienstman Nicolas Le Thomas Dries Van Thourhout Zeger Hens Gunther Roelkens Roel Baets | 2015 | Photonics Research2015,3,5: | 7 |
| 2 | Dyslipidemia management in primary prevention of cardiovascular disease:Current guidelines and strategies显示文摘Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. In 2010, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that $444 billion was spent on cardiovascular diseases alone, about $1 of every $6 spent on health care. As life expectancy continues to increase, this annual cost will also increase, making costeffective primary prevention of cardiovascular disease highly desirable. Because of its role in development of atherosclerosis and clinical events, dyslipidemia management is a high priority in cardiovascular prevention. Multiple major dyslipidemia guidelines have been published around the world recently, four of them by independent organizations in the United States alone. They share the goal of providing clinical guidance on optimal dyslipidemia management, but guidelines differ in their emphasis on pharmacotherapy, stratification of groups, emphasis on lifestyle modification, and use of a fixed target or percentage reduction in low density lipoprotein cholesterol. This review summarizes eight major guidelines for dyslipidemia management and considers the basis for their recommendations. Our primary aim is to enhance understanding of dyslipidemia management guidelines in patient care for primary prevention of future cardiovascular risk. | Aditya D Hendrani Tolulope Adesiyun Renato Quispe Steven R Jones Neil J Stone Roger S Blumenthal Seth S Martin | 2016 | World Journal of Cardiology2016,8,2: | 5 |

| 15 | Bidirectional link between diabetes mellitus and coronavirus disease 2019 leading to cardiovascular disease:A narrative review显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a global pandemic where several comorbidities have been shown to have a significant effect on mortality.Patients with diabetes mellitus(DM)have a higher mortality rate than non-DM patients if they get COVID-19.Recent studies have indicated that patients with a history of diabetes can increase the risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection.Additionally, patients without any history of diabetes can acquire newonset DM when infected with COVID-19.Thus,there is a need to explore the bidirectional link between these two conditions, confirming the vicious loop between“DM/COVID-19”.This narrative review presents(1)the bidirectional association between the DM and COVID-19,(2)the manifestations of the DM/COVID-19 loop leading to cardiovascular disease,(3)an understanding of primary and secondary factors that influence mortality due to the DM/COVID-19 loop,(4)the role of vitamin-D in DM patients during COVID-19,and finally,(5)the monitoring tools for tracking atherosclerosis burden in DM patients during COVID-19 and“COVID-triggered DM”patients. We conclude that the bidirectional nature of DM/COVID-19 causes acceleration towards cardiovascular events.Due to this alarming condition, early monitoring of atherosclerotic burden is required in“Diabetes patients during COVID-19”or“new-onset Diabetes triggered by COVID-19 in Non-Diabetes patients”. | Vijay Viswanathan Anudeep Puvvula Ankush D Jamthikar Luca Saba Amer M Johri Vasilios Kotsis Narendra N Khanna Surinder K Dhanjil Misha Majhail Durga Prasanna Misra Vikas Agarwal George D Kitas Aditya M Sharma Raghu Kolluri Subbaram Naidu Jasjit S Suri | 2021 | World Journal of Diabetes2021,12,3: | 0 |
