1CoFe-LDH nanowire arrays on graphite felt: A high-performance oxygen evolution electrocatalyst in alkaline media显示文摘Developing non-noble-metal oxygen evolution reaction(OER) electrocatalysts with high performance is critical to electrocatalytic water splitting. In this work, we fabricated Co Fe-layered double hydroxide(LDH) nanowire arrays on graphite felt(Co Fe-LDH/GF) via a hydrothermal method. The Co Fe-LDH/GF, as a robust integrated 3 D OER anode, exhibits excellent catalytic activity with the need of low overpotential of 252 and 285 mV to drive current densities of 10 and 100 mA/cm^(2) in 1.0 mol/L KOH, respectively. In addition, it also maintains electrochemical durability for at least 24 h. 6Prognostic significance of peritoneal metastasis from colorectal cancer treated with first-line triplet chemotherapy显示文摘BACKGROUND Peritoneal metastasis from colorectal cancer(CRC)carries a poor prognosis in most studies.The majority of those studies used either a single-agent or doublet chemotherapy regimen in the first-line setting.AIM To investigate the prognostic significance of peritoneal metastasis in a cohort of patients treated with triplet chemotherapy in the first-line setting.METHODS We retrospectively evaluated progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS)in 51 patients with metastatic CRC treated in a prospective clinical trial with capecitabine,oxaliplatin,irinotecan,and bevacizumab in the first-line setting according to the presence and absence of peritoneal metastasis.Furthermore,univariate and multivariate analyses for PFS and OS were performed to assess the prognostic significance of peritoneal metastasis at the multivariate level.RESULTS Fifty-one patients were treated with the above triplet therapy.Fifteen had peritoneal metastasis.The patient characteristics of both groups showed a significant difference in the sidedness of the primary tumor(left-sided primary tumor in 60%of the peritoneal group vs 86%in the nonperitoneal group,P=0.03)and the presence of liver metastasis(40%for the peritoneal group vs 75%for the nonperitoneal group,P=0.01).Univariate analysis for PFS showed a statistically significant difference for age less than 65 years(P=0.034),presence of liver metastasis(P=0.046),lung metastasis(P=0.011),and those who underwent metastasectomy(P=0.001).Only liver metastasis and metastasectomy were statistically significant for OS,with P values of 0.001 and 0.002,respectively.Multivariate analysis showed that age(less than 65 years)and metastasectomy were statistically significant for PFS,with P values of 0.002 and 0.001,respectively.On the other hand,the absence of liver metastasis and metastasectomy were statistically significant for OS,with P values of 0.003 and 0.005,respectively.CONCLUSION Peritoneal metastasis in patients with metastatic CRC treated with first-line triple chemotherapy does not carry prognostic significance at univariate and multivariate levels.Confirmatory larger studies are warranted.Shouki Bazarbashi Abdulrahman Alghabban Mohamed Aseafan Ali H Aljubran Ahmed Alzahrani Tusneem AM Elhassan 2022World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,8:1
7Improving the intrinsic electronic conductivity of NiMo0_(4) anodes by phosphorous doping for high lithium storage显示文摘Heteroatom doping is one of the most promising strategies toward regulating intrinsically sluggish electronic conductivity and kinetic reaction of transition metal oxides for enhancing their lithium storage.Herein,we designed phosphorus-doped NiMo0_(4) nanorods(P-NiMo0_(4))by using a facile hydrothermal method and subsequent low-temperature phosphorization treatment.Phosphorus doping played an indispensable role in significantly improving electronic conductivity and the Li+diffusion kinetics of NiMo0_(4) materials.Experimental investigation and density functional theory calculation demonstrated that phosphorus doping can expand the interplanar spacing and alter electronic structures of NiMo0_(4) nanorods.Meanwhile,the introduced phosphorus dopant can generate some oxygen vacancies on the surface of NiMo0_(4),which can accelerate Li+diffusion kinetics and provide more active site for lithium storage.As excepted,P-NiMo0_(4) electrode delivered a high specific capacity(1,130 mA·g^(-1) at 100 mA·g^(-1) after 100 cycles),outstanding cycling durability(945 mA·g^(-1) at 500 mA·g^(-1) over 200 cycles),and impressive rate performance(640 mA·g^(-1)at 2,000mA·g^(-1))for lithium ion batteries(LIBs).This work could provide a potential strategy for improving intrinsic conductivity of transition metal oxides as high-performance anodes for LIBs.Luchao Yue Chaoqun Ma Shihai Yan Zhenguo Wu Wenxi Zhao Qian Liu(ISl) Yonglan Luo Benhe Zhong Fang Zhang Yang Liu Abdulmohsen AN Alshehri Khalid Ahmed Alzahrani Xiaodong Guo Xuping Sun 2022Nano Research2022,15,1:1
8A Deep Learning Approach for Landmines Detection Based on Airborne Magnetometry Imaging and Edge Computing显示文摘Landmines continue to pose an ongoing threat in various regions around the world,with countless buried landmines affecting numerous human lives.The detonation of these landmines results in thousands of casualties reported worldwide annually.Therefore,there is a pressing need to employ diverse landmine detection techniques for their removal.One effective approach for landmine detection is UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)based AirborneMagnetometry,which identifies magnetic anomalies in the local terrestrial magnetic field.It can generate a contour plot or heat map that visually represents the magnetic field strength.Despite the effectiveness of this approach,landmine removal remains a challenging and resource-intensive task,fraughtwith risks.Edge computing,on the other hand,can play a crucial role in critical drone monitoring applications like landmine detection.By processing data locally on a nearby edge server,edge computing can reduce communication latency and bandwidth requirements,allowing real-time analysis of magnetic field data.It enables faster decision-making and more efficient landmine detection,potentially saving lives and minimizing the risks involved in the process.Furthermore,edge computing can provide enhanced security and privacy by keeping sensitive data close to the source,reducing the chances of data exposure during transmission.This paper introduces the MAGnetometry Imaging based Classification System(MAGICS),a fully automated UAV-based system designed for landmine and buried object detection and localization.We have developed an efficient deep learning-based strategy for automatic image classification using magnetometry dataset traces.By simulating the proposal in various network scenarios,we have successfully detected landmine signatures present in themagnetometry images.The trained models exhibit significant performance improvements,achieving a maximum mean average precision value of 97.8%.Ahmed Barnawi Krishan Kumar Neeraj Kumar Bander Alzahrani Amal Almansour 2024Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2024,139,5:0

12An Effective Diagnosis System for Brain Tumor Detection and Classification显示文摘A brain tumor is an excessive development of abnormal and uncontrolled cells in the brain.This growth is considered deadly since it may cause death.The brain controls numerous functions,such as memory,vision,and emotions.Due to the location,size,and shape of these tumors,their detection is a challenging and complex task.Several efforts have been conducted toward improved detection and yielded promising results and outcomes.However,the accuracy should be higher than what has been reached.This paper presents a method to detect brain tumors with high accuracy.The method works using an image segmentation technique and a classifier in MATLAB.The utilized classifier is a SupportVector Machine(SVM).DiscreteWavelet Transform(DWT)and Principal Component Analysis(PCA)are also involved.A dataset from the Kaggle website is used to test the developed approach.The obtained results reached nearly 99.2%of accuracy.The paper provides a confusion matrix of applying the proposed approach to testing images and a comparative evaluation between the developed method and some works in the literature.This evaluation shows that the presented system outperforms other approaches regarding the accuracy,precision,and recall.This research discovered that the developed method is extremely useful in detecting brain tumors,given the high accuracy,precision,and recall results.The proposed system directs us to believe that bringing this kind of technology to physicians diagnosing brain tumors is crucial.Ahmed A.Alsheikhy Ahmad S.Azzahrani A.Khuzaim Alzahrani Tawfeeq Shawly 2023Computer Systems Science & Engineering2023,46,8:0
13A Hybrid Classification and Identification of Pneumonia Using African Buffalo Optimization and CNN from Chest X-Ray Images显示文摘An illness known as pneumonia causes inflammation in the lungs.Since there is so much information available fromvarious X-ray images,diagnosing pneumonia has typically proven challenging.To improve image quality and speed up the diagnosis of pneumonia,numerous approaches have been devised.To date,several methods have been employed to identify pneumonia.The Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)has achieved outstanding success in identifying and diagnosing diseases in the fields of medicine and radiology.However,these methods are complex,inefficient,and imprecise to analyze a big number of datasets.In this paper,a new hybrid method for the automatic classification and identification of Pneumonia from chest X-ray images is proposed.The proposed method(ABOCNN)utilized theAfrican BuffaloOptimization(ABO)algorithmto enhanceCNNperformance and accuracy.The Weinmed filter is employed for pre-processing to eliminate unwanted noises from chest X-ray images,followed by feature extraction using the Grey Level Co-Occurrence Matrix(GLCM)approach.Relevant features are then selected from the dataset using the ABO algorithm,and ultimately,high-performance deep learning using the CNN approach is introduced for the classification and identification of Pneumonia.Experimental results on various datasets showed that,when contrasted to other approaches,the ABO-CNN outperforms them all for the classification tasks.The proposed method exhibits superior values like 96.95%,88%,86%,and 86%for accuracy,precision,recall,and F1-score,respectively.Nasser Alalwan Ahmed I.Taloba Amr Abozeid Ahmed Ibrahim Alzahrani Ali H.Al-Bayatti 2024Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2024,138,3:0

16Burden of routine orthopedic implant removal a single center retrospective study显示文摘BACKGROUND Open reduction and internal fixation represent prevalent orthopedic procedures,sparking ongoing discourse over whether to retain or remove asymptomatic implants.Achieving consensus on this matter is paramount for orthopedic surgeons.This study aims to quantify the impact of routine implant removal on patients and healthcare facilities.A retrospective analysis of implant removal cases from 2016 to 2022 at King Fahad Hospital of the University(KFHU)was conducted and subjected to statistical scrutiny.Among these cases,44%necessitated hospitalization exceeding one day,while 56%required only a single day.Adults exhibited a 55%need for extended hospital stays,contrasting with 22.8%among the pediatric cohort.The complication rate was 6%,with all patients experiencing at least one complication.Notably,34.1%required sick leave and 4.8%exceeded 14 d.General anesthesia was predominant(88%).Routine implant removal introduces unwarranted complications,particularly in adults,potentially prolonging hospitalization.This procedure strains hospital resources,tying up the operating room that could otherwise accommodate critical surgeries.Clearly defined institutional guidelines are imperative to regulate this practice.AIM To measure the burden of routine implant removal on the patients and hospital.METHODS This is a retrospective analysis study of 167 routine implant removal cases treated at KFHU,a tertiary hospital in Saudi Arabia.Data were collected in the orthopedic department at KFHU from February 2016 to August 2022,which includes routine asymptomatic implant removal cases across all age categories.Nonroutine indications such as infection,pain,implant failure,malunion,nonunion,restricted range of motion,and prominent hardware were excluded.Patients who had external fixators removed or joints replaced were also excluded.RESULTS Between February 2016 and August 2022,360 implants were retrieved;however,only 167 of those who met the inclusion criteria were included in this study.The remaining implants were rejected due to exclusion criteria.Among the cases,44%required more than one day in the hospital,whereas 56%required only one day.55%of adults required more than one day of hospitalization,while 22.8%of pediatric patients required more than one day of inpatient care.The complication rate was 6%,with each patient experiencing at least one complication.Sick leave was required in 34.1%of cases,with 4.8%requiring more than 14 d.The most common type of anesthesia used in the surgeries was general anesthesia(88%),and the mean(SD)surgery duration was 77.1(54.7)min.CONCLUSION Routine implant removal causes unnecessary complications,prolongs hospital stays,depletes resources and monopolizing operating rooms that could serve more critical procedures.Ammar K AlOmran Nader Alosaimi Ahmed A Alshaikhi Omar M Bakhurji Khalid J Alzahrani Basil Ziyad Salloot Tamim Omar Alabduladhem Ahmed I AlMulhim Arwa Alumran 2024World Journal of Orthopedics2024,15,2:0
17Impact of COVID-19 on endourology surgical practice in Saudi Arabia:A national multicenter study显示文摘Objective:To identify the impact of COVID-19 on endourology surgical practice in Saudi Arabia.Methods:A retrospective study of seven tertiary hospitals from January 2019 to April 2019,and from January 2020 to April 2020 was performed.Records of urology outpatient department(OPD)visits and endourology procedures in the first third of 2020 were analyzed and compared with those in the first third of 2019,as well as,during the full curfew time,i.e.April 2020 versus April 2019.Results:Number of OPD visits in the first third of 2020 and 2019 were 19499 and 26594,respectively(p<0.001).Number of OPD visits in April 2020 was 1512,with a 78.6%decrease compared to that in April 2019,and among them 1373(90.8%)were teleclinics.Number of elective procedures in the first third of 2020 has decreased by 34.3%(from 3025 to 1988)compared to that in the first third of 2019(p<0.001).There were 120 elective procedures in April 2020,84.1%lower than that in April 2019.Percutaneous nephrolithotomy,shockwave lithotripsy,and transurethral resection of prostate procedures declined by 94.2%,98.5%,and 93.8%,respectively.Most procedures were performed as day surgery(85.0%).Number of emergency procedures in 2020 have fallen by 9.3%compared to 2019(pZ0.286).Urolithiasis was the commonest pathology(52.6%)presented to the emergency room(52.6%).Conclusion:During COVID-19 pandemic,urology services slashed by>75%,including OPD visits and elective endourology procedures.Most hospitals have changed their strategic preventive measures by increasing the rate of teleclinics and day surgeries.Abdel Raheem Ali Yahya Ghazwani Ibrahim Alowidah Raed A.Azhar Mohammed Alomar Ahmed Alzahrani Ossamah Alsowayan Wissam Kamal Abdulrahman Alalayet Ahmad Bugis Abdulaziz MAlthunayan MAlzahrani Tarek Kamel Fadaak Aiman Al-Solumany Saeed Bin Hamri 2021Asian Journal of Urology2021,8,4:0
