| 4 | Anti-vascular endothelial growth factor treatment for choroidal neovascularization secondary to angioid streaks in pseudoxanthoma elasticum: a case report and systemic review显示文摘The present study reports a case of a patient with choroidal neovascularization(CNV)associated with pseudoxanthoma elasticum(PXE).We observed the functional and anatomical improvement of the patient treated with intravitreal vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)inhibitor bevacizumab.The study also systematically searched the database for similar cases to provide a literature review.Data concerning the clinical features,treatment strategies and outcomes were extracted and analyzed.Retrospective interventional case report and systematic literature review.A 56-year-old healthy Chinese woman with CNV secondary to PXE was reported.Examinations included best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),biomicroscopy,optical coherence tomography(OCT),fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography and digital fundus photography.The patient managed with intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(anti-VEGF)injections(bevacizumab 1.25 mg/0.05 m L).The Cochrane Library,Pub Med,OVID,and Up To Date databases were searched using the term pseudoxanthoma elasticum or Gr?nblad-Strandberg syndrome with the limits English.Articles that predated the databases were gathered from current references.Fundus examination revealed angioid streaks bilaterally and CNV in left eye(LE).After the patient underwent three intravitreal injections of bevacizumab,the LE showed absorption of the subretinal fluid and shrinkage of the CNV.Visual acuity(VA)was improved in her treated LE.Bevacizumab treatment was well tolerated with no adverse events reported.Approximately ten articles about 45 patients(49 eyes)describing CNV secondary to angioid streaks in PXE treated with anti-VEGF were found in the literature search.In the present case,bevacizumab of an initial three injection loading dose,achieved maintenance of visual function in the treatment of CNV associated with angioid streaks in PXE.Literature articles concluded that the intravitreal application of anti-VEGF is highly efficient for improving and stabilizing the lesion as well as the eyesight.So we believe that anti-VEGF therapy can be a great choice of treatment for CNV secondary to angioid streaks related PXE. | Aiyi Zhou Chenjing Zhou Ziyao Liu Yanlong Quan | 2016 | Eye Science2016,31,2: | 0 |
| 5 | Expression Profile of Immune-Associated Genes in the Kidney of Cultured Large Yellow Croaker Larimichthys crocea in the East China Sea Area显示文摘To explore the effect of environment conditions on immune activity of fish, eight immune-associated genes responsible for innate immunity were selected from the Gen Bank, i.e. Pgrn-a, Ifit2, P-hepcidin, Lect2, β2m, Irf1, Il25 and Hsp96, and the m RNA expressions of them in the kidney of cultured large yellow croaker Larimichthys crocea in different sea areas in the East China Sea were examined with q PCR techniques. In the contrasts of immune-associated gene expression between areas and populations, significant differences were found, expression levels of these immune-associated genes were lower in the clear water area than in the poor water quantity area, and lower in May than in October. MY was more sensitive to environmental factors than DQ, which was coincident with the water quality in the culturing areas. Differential analyses of the expression levels of these immune-associated genes showed that significant up-regulation could be triggered by poor environmental factors. The expression patterns indicated that the expression levels of these genes were sensitive to ecological changes, thereby the immune-associated genes, especially Pgrn-a, Ifit2, β2m, Il25 and Hsp96, might serve as immediate and sensitive indicators of population immunologic vigor and ecosystem health. | 6 | Effects of water adsorption on active site-dependent H_(2)activation over MgO nanoflakes显示文摘Understanding the effect of H_(2)O adsorption on reactant activation is of great importance in heterogeneous catalysis,which remains a grand challenge particularly in oxide catalyst systems with structural complexity.Herein,the effect of D_(2)O adsorption on D_(2)activation over MgO nanocatalysts at different temperatures has been investigated by transmission Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)and temperature-programmed desorption(TPD).Two sets of hydride and hydroxyl species produced from D_(2)dissociation at more active and less active Mg-O pairs can be observed by FT-IR,which all desorb via the product of D_(2)as confirmed by TPD experiments.We find that the physically adsorbed D_(2)O overlayer does not affect the dissociation of D_(2)since D_(2)may pass through the molecular layer and access the surface-active sites.When D_(2)O is partially dissociated on the MgO surface,D_(2)can only dissociate at the remaining active sites until that dissociated-ODw groups from D_(2)O occupy all active sites.These findings provide a fundamental understanding of the effect of water adsorption on D_(2)activation on oxide catalysts. | Aiyi Dong Kun Li Rentao Mu Conghui Liu Rongtan Li Haoran Jia Le Lin Qiang Fu | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,7: | 0 |
| 7 | Distance-Based Regression Analysis for Measuring Associations显示文摘Distance-based regression model,as a nonparametric multivariate method,has been widely used to detect the association between variations in a distance or dissimilarity matrix for outcomes and predictor variables of interest in genetic association studies,genomic analyses,and many other research areas.Based on it,a pseudo-F statistic which partitions the variation in distance matrices is often constructed to achieve the aim.To the best of our knowledge,the statistical properties of the pseudo-F statistic has not yet been well established in the literature.To fill this gap,the authors study the asymptotic null distribution of the pseudo-F statistic and show that it is asymptotically equivalent to a mixture of chi-squared random variables.Given that the pseudo-F test statistic has unsatisfactory power when the correlations of the response variables are large,the authors propose a square-root F-type test statistic which replaces the similarity matrix with its square root.The asymptotic null distribution of the new test statistic and power of both tests are also investigated.Simulation studies are conducted to validate the asymptotic distributions of the tests and demonstrate that the proposed test has more robust power than the pseudo-F test.Both test statistics are exemplified with a gene expression dataset for a prostate cancer pathway. | SHI Yuke ZHANG Wei LIU Aiyi LI Qizhai | 2023 | Journal of Systems Science & Complexity2023,36,1: | 0 |
