| 10 | Cooperative Communication Protocols for Performance Improvement in Mobile Satellite Systems显示文摘A mobile satellite indoor signal is proposed to model perfor mance of cooperative communication protocols and maximal ra tio combining.Cooperative diversity can improve the reliability of satellite system and increase data speed or expand cell radi us by lessening the effects of fading.Performance is determined by measured bit error rates(BERs)in different types of coopera tive protocols and indoor systems(e.g.GSM and WCDMA net works). The effect of performance on cooperative terminals lo cated at different distances from an indoor cellular system is al so discussed. The proposed schemes provide higher signal-tonoise ratio(SNR)—around 1.6 dB and 2.6 dB gap at BER 10-2for amplify-and-forward(AF)and decode-and-forward(DF)cooperative protocols, respectively, when the cooperative termi nal is located 10 m from the WCDMA indoor system.Coopera tive protocols improve effective power utilization and, hence, improve performance and cell coverage of the mobile satellite network. | Ashagrie Getnet Flattie | 2013 | ZTE Communications2013,11,4: | 0 |
| 11 | A Glimpse on Ethiopian Film Through a Cinematographer of Aster: Interview With Abebe Ketsela显示文摘In film production cinematography is a visual medium that connects the film experience to the viewers.Just like other crew members such as directors and actors, specific names of cinematographers become common in the African film industry.Abebe Ketsela, who has a career spanning many decades and popular designations,is regarded as one of the best intellect cinematographers in Ethiopian cinema. This qualitative content analysis examines his works his cinematography skill emerged from his ability to utilize shot selection, framing, and composition. This qualitative content analysis of Aster film focuses on the Cinematography concept of camera mobility, and lighting techniques to tell the story naturally so.This is the revised transcription of an interview with Abebe Ketsela that took place on September 27th 2021 at the Department of Film Production Studio at Ale-School of Fine Arts and Design,Adds Ababa University,St.marry Avenue,Addis Ababa,Ethiopia, the place where African filmmakers teach film directing,Cinematography, and screenplay writing. The film production Department is the first Film School which is opened in 2015.This place in this site is a vigorous Black African center as film making education school at the level of second Degree and the excremental area of his creative works. The interview spanned three and a half hours and roofed an extensive range of topics, most of which pivoted around:A glimpse on Ethiopian film through a cinematographer of Aster:how his visual creation reveals in his cinematography. | Paulos Aemero Ayalew Aboneh Ashagrie | 2023 | Cultural and Religious Studies2023,11,2: | 0 |
| 12 | Ethiopian Cinema in the Era of Barrack Socialism (1974-1991)显示文摘Ethiopia,whose history goes far beyond three thousand years and is renowned for its ancient civilizations of the Axumite Kingdom, could not consistently promote socio-economic and political development in the course of nation state building, particularly as a result of the backward feudal mode that prevailed for many centuries in the country. At the end of the 19th century however, the embryo of capitalism that sprouted in the womb of the decadent feudalism paved the way for the introduction of western modernization leading to the immergence of cinematic expression just a few years after the invention of motion picture 1895 by the Lumiere Brothers.Film screening that started in April 1897/1898 in Emperor Menelik II’s palace faced challenges from the aristocracy, the nobility, and the clergy for being considered as a satanic sorcery. This tendency gradually changed through time, leading to the opening of private movie theatres mostly by expatriates, and to the production of two feature length films by Ethiopians in the imperial era.The eruption of the Ethiopia Revolution and the power grab by the Derg military dictatorship that promoted barrack socialist ideology nonetheless altered the path of cinema exhibition and production from private business entity towards state monopoly. This article hence attempts to portray the feature of Ethiopian cinema under the Derg Barrack Socialism(1974-1991)with a concern to bridge the scholarship gap for the academia pertinent to Ethiopian cinema in particular and African cinema in general. | Aboneh Ashagrie Zeiyesus | 2020 | Cultural and Religious Studies2020,8,1: | 0 |

| 15 | Digitalization of Hirut1,the First Ethiopian Fiction Film and Addis Ababa International Film Festival显示文摘In film festivals Purpose of digitalized works especially screening works are at the basic of changes resulting from the development of digital technology and information society.Film screening mediums radically changed the way of traditional film making processes such as producing, distributing, and archiving.Digitization is the second most relevant change in cinema history. It replaces conventional 35 mm film and projectors with computer workstations and high resolution electronic video projectors. It has introduced the Computer Generated Imaginary(CGI).Digital media affects all stages of communication, including acquisition, manipulating, storage, and distribution, but the computer media revolution also affects all types of media text, still images, moving images, sound, and spatial constructions(Manovich,2002,p.43).Ethiopian film producers slowly started to digitalize DVD formats of production.Who does this Digitalization of Hirut(2020)do?And what is the fat of AAIFF 2020?This paper seeks to address these issues.Hirut was released on DVD in March 1964 and digitalized in 2021 in the screening of the first Addis Ababa film festival. The pioneer film and theatre directors,Addis Ababa city cinema hall administers, prominent film producers, and young film scholars participate in the Digitalization of Hirut(2020).It is there most recent contribution in digitalizing process in the history of the first Ethiopian film in Addis film festival. The author of this article used primary and secondary data.In addition to this,he directly participated in the digitalization process and presented his ongoing Ph.D.desertion project which is directly related to film digitalization. For film festivals in the AAIFF film festivals so he used participation method to investigate the data. Finally,he found that digitalization of films and government owned film festivals in Ethiopia give green light in the archiving and development of film industry in Ethiopia. | Paulos Aemero Aboneh Ashagrie | 2023 | Cultural and Religious Studies2023,11,3: | 0 |
