Epidemiology of lung cancer and approaches for its prediction:a systematic review and analysis显示文摘Background: Owing to the use of tobacco and the consumption of alcohol and adulterated food, worldwide cancer incidence is increasing at an alarming and frightening rate. Since the last decade of the twentieth century, lung cancer has been the most common cancer type. This study aimed to determine the global status of lung cancer and to evaluate the use of computational methods in the early detection of lung cancer. Methods: We used lung cancer data from the United Kingdom(UK), the United States(US), India, and Egypt. For statistical analysis, we used incidence and mortality as well as survival rates to better understand the critical state of lung cancer. Results: In the UK and the US, we found a significant decrease in lung cancer mortalities in the period of 1990–2014, whereas, in India and Egypt, such a decrease was not much promising. Additionally, we observed that, in the UK and the US, the survival rates of women with lung cancer were higher than those of men. We observed that the data mining and evolutionary algorithms were efficient in lung cancer detection. Conclusions: Our findings provide an inclusive understanding of the incidences, mortalities, and survival rates of lung cancer in the UK, the US, India, and Egypt. The combined use of data mining and evolutionary algorithm can be efficient in lung cancer detection.Ashutosh Kumar Dubey Umesh Gupta Sonal Jain 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer2016,35,9:37
A systematic investigation of secondary phase dissolution in Mg-Sn alloys显示文摘As-cast Mg-Sn alloys(3,6,and 9 wt%Sn)were solution treated at 653,703 and 753 K(380,430 and 480℃)for 1,4,8,12 and 24 h to determine the variation of secondary phase with respect to Sn content, temperature and time.Mg-3 wt%Sn exhibits Mg2Sn dissolution at all solution treatment temperatures whereas Mg-6 and 9 wt%Sn alloy displays Mg2Sn reprecipitation and dissolution depending on the heat treatment temperature. In addition,a combined mathematical model that predicts the secondary phase dissolution and solute redistribution as a function of temperature and time is presented in this work. This model is a significant improvement compared to the previous studies where the dissolution and homogenization processes are considered independently. The effect of grain size and solute mobility upon the dissolution and homogenization kinetics is discussed as well.Arushi Dev Niladri Naskar Nishant Kumar Ashutosh Jena Manas Paliwal 2019Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2019,7,4:5
A novel approach for part family formation using K-means algorithm显示文摘The reconfigurable manufacturing system(RMS) is the next step in manufacturing, allowing the production of any quantity of highly customized and complex parts together with the benefits of mass production. In RMSs,parts are grouped into families, each of which requires a specific system configuration.Initially system is configured to produce the first family of parts.Once it is finished, the system will be reconfigured in order to produce the second family, and so forth. The effectiveness of a RMS depends on the formation of the optimum set of part families addressing various reconfigurability issues. The aim of this work is to establish a methodology for grouping parts into families for effective working of RMS.The methodology carried out in two phases. In the first phase, the correlation matrix is used as similarity coefficient matrix. In the second phase, agglomerative hierarchical K-means algorithm is used for the parts family formation resulting in an optimum set of part families for reconfigurable manufacturing system.Ashutosh Gupta P.K.Jain Dinesh Kumar 2013Advances in Manufacturing2013,1,3:4
Ayurvedic concept of Shatkriyakala:a traditional knowledge of cancer pathogenesis and therapy显示文摘The term Kriyakala refers to the recognition of the stage of a disease's progress, which helps to determine appropriate measure to correct the imbalance in Doshas(biological factors). It is a compound expression, comprised of Kriya and Kala, where Kriya means the choice to treatment(medicine, food and daily-routine) used to improve the disturbance in Doshas, and Kala refers to the stage of progress of a disease.Sushruta,an ancient Indian surgeon, has described the concept of Kriyakala in Varnaprashnadhyaya,an ancient Vedic Sanskrit text, which seeks to explain the incidence of Varnas in terms of Doshic disturbances.Varna,in modern parlance, may be described as an inflammatory process that may lead ulceration and chronic inflammation, promoting all stages of carcinogenesis.Abnormal interactions between Prakriti(genotype) and environmental factors vitiate the Doshas and impair immunity, which can lead to aberrant cell growth and cancer. Moreover, the interaction between vitiated Doshas and weak Dhatus(body tissues) manifests as cancers of a specific organ.Shatkriyakala(six stages of progress of a disease),on the other hand, provides a framework to assess the cancer and its pathogenesis in different stages.According to Ayurvedic concepts, all cancer therapies treat the affected tissues indirectly by eliminating vitiated Doshas, rejuvenating Dhatus and restoring immunity in cancer patients. The present review describes the six stages of Shatkhyakala in detail, with an emphasis on research areas to validate the concept of Shatkhyakala. This traditional knowledge can be utilized with modern technologies to detect predisposition for cancer or diagnose cancer in its early stages.Ashutosh Chauhan Deepak Kumar Semwal Satyendra Prasad Mishra Ruchi Badoni Semwal 2017Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,15,2:3

Ethanol steam reforming study over ZSM-5 supported cobalt versus nickel catalyst for renewable hydrogen generation显示文摘The renewable hydrogen generation through ethanol steam reforming is one of the anticipated areas for sustainable hydrogen generation. To elucidate the role of Ni and Co with ZSM-5 support, catalysts were prepared by wet impregnation method and ethanol steam reforming(ESR) was performed. The catalysts were characterized by HR-XRD, ATR–FTIR, HR-SEM, TEM with SAED, EDAX, surface area analyzer and TPR. It had shown complete ethanol conversion at 773 K, but the selectivity in hydrogen generation was found higher for 10% Ni/ZSM-5 catalyst as compared to 10% Co/ZSM-5. The 10% Ni/ZSM-5 catalyst has about 72% hydrogen selectivity at temperature 873 K. It indicates that Ni is a more sustainable catalyst as compared to Co with ZSM-5 support for ESR. The C_2H_4 was found major undesirable products up to 823 K temperature. Nevertheless, the 10% Ni/ZSM-5 catalyst had shown its stability for high temperature(873 K) ESR performance.Ashutosh Kumar Ram Prasad Yogesh Chandra Sharma 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,3:2

Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibition reveals a potential mechanism to promote neuroprotection and treat neuropathic pain显示文摘Neuropathic pain is triggered by the lesions to peripheral nerves which alter their structure and function. Neuroprotective approaches that limit the pathological changes and improve the behavioral outcome have been well explained in different experimental models of neuropathy but translation of such strategies to clinics has been disappointing. Experimental evidences revealed the role of free radicals, especially peroxynitrite after the nerve injury. They provoke oxidative DNA damage and consequent over-activation of the poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase(PARP) upregulates pro-inflammatory pathways, causing bioenergetic crisis and neuronal death. Along with these changes, it causes mitochondrial dysfunction leading to neuronal apoptosis. In related preclinical studies agents that neutralize the free radicals and pharmacological inhibitors of PARP have shown benefits in treating experimental neuropathy. This article reviews the involvement of PARP over-activation in trauma induced neuropathy and therapeutic significance of PARP inhibitors in the experimental neuropathy and neuropathic pain.Prashanth Komirishetty Aparna Areti Ranadeep Gogoi Ramakrishna Sistla Ashutosh Kumar 2016Neural Regeneration Research2016,11,10:2
Thermoelectric properties of high-entropy rare-earth cobaltates显示文摘High-entropy concept introduced with a promising paradigm to obtain exotic physical properties has motivated us to explore the thermoelectric properties of Sr-substituted high-entropy rare-earth cobaltates i.e.,(LaNdPrSmEu)_(1-x)Sr_(x)CoO_(3)(0≤x≤0.10).The structural analysis of the samples, synthesized using the standard solid-state route, confirms the orthorhombic structure with the Pbnm space group. The Seebeck coefficient and electrical resistivity decrease with rising Sr concentration as well as with an increase in temperature. The multiple A-site ions in high-entropy rare-earth cobaltates result in an improved Seebeck coefficient(α)compared to La_(0.95)Sr_(0.05)CoO_(3),associated with a decrease in the Cosingle bondOsingle bondCo bond angle, which further enhances the power factor. The random distribution of cations at the rare-earth site results in a significant lowering of phonon thermal conductivity. As a result,a maximum figure of merit(zT)of 0.23 is obtained at 350K for(LaNdPrSmEu)_(0.95)Sr_(0.05)CoO_(3),which is one of the highest values of zT reported at this temperature for oxide materials. This study shows promise to decouple thermoelectric parameters using the high-entropy concept in several materials.Ashutosh Kumar Diana Dragoe David Berardan Nita Dragoe 2023Journal of Materiomics2023,9,1:1

Varna-based optimization:a novel method for capacitated controller placement problem in SDN显示文摘Recently, software defined networking(SDN)is a promising paradigm shift that decouples the control plane from the data plane. It can centrally monitor and control the network through softwarization,i.e.,controller.Multiple controllers are a necessity of current SDN based WAN.Placing multiple controllers in an optimum way is known as controller placement problem(CPP).Earlier, solutions of CPP only concentrated on propagation latency but overlooked the capacity of controllers and the dynamic load on switches, which is a significant factor in real networks. In this paper,we develop a novel optimization algorithm named varna-based optimization(VBO)and use it to solve CPP.To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to minimize the total average latency of SDN along with the implementation of TLBO and Jaya algorithms to solve CPP for all twelve possible scenarios. Our experimental results show that TLBO outperforms PSO,and VBO outperforms TLBO and Jaya algorithms in all scenarios for all topologies.Ashutosh Kumar SINGH Saurabh MAURYA Shashank SRIVASTAVA 2020Frontiers of Computer Science2020,14,3:1
