1Measurement of electrical charges carried by airborne bacteria laboratory-generated using a single-pass bubbling aerosolizer显示文摘Widely used bioaerosol generators like Collison nebulizer probably produce electrostatically charged particles,but the electrical charges carried by laboratory-generated airborne microorganisms using bubbling aerosolizers are poorly understood.In this study,we measured the fraction of neutral particles and number of elementary charges per particle as a function of the aerodynamic diameter of airborne bacteria(Escherichia coli and Enterococcus hirae).Bioaerosols were produced by a liquid sparging aerosolizer-type bubbling generator,with particle sizes ranging from roughly 0.6 to 2 μm.The experimental setup included an electrostatic precipitator and real-time devices including an electrometer,aerodynamic particle sizer,and electrical low-pressure impactor.Experimental results obtained for various operating conditions showed that aerosols produced with a higher bubbling airflow contained a larger proportion of neutral particles(from around 30% to 50% ) and that bacteria carried a greater average absolute number of elementary charges(from around-10 to-60 elementary units) than those under lower airflow.Under the investigated conditions,a neutralization step is unnecessary because it may have a negative effect on the viability of sensitive microorganisms.Our results suggest that the neutral fraction can be used downstream of an electrostatic precipitator,and that this setup may have advantages over bipolar neutralizers.Xavier Simon Sébastien Bau Denis Bémer Philippe Duquenne 2015Particuology2015,13,1:1

6Mg-based materials diminish tumor spreading and cancer metastases显示文摘Cancer metastases are the most common causes of cancer-related deaths.The formation of secondary tumors at different sites in the human body can impair multiple organ function and dramatically decrease the survival of the patients.In this stage,it is difficulty to treat tumor growth and spreading due to arising therapy resistances.Therefore,it is important to prevent cancer metastases and to increase subsequent cancer therapy success.Cancer metastases are conventionally treated with radiation or chemotherapy.However,these treatments elicit lots of side effects,wherefore novel local treatment approaches are currently discussed.Recent studies already showed anticancer activity of specially designed degradable magnesium(Mg)alloys by reducing the cancer cell proliferation.In this work,we investigated the impact of these Mg-based materials on different steps of the metastatic cascade including cancer cell migration,invasion,and cancer-induced angiogenesis.Both,Mg and Mg-6Ag reduced cell migration and invasion of osteosarcoma cells in coculture with fibroblasts.Furthermore,the Mg-based materials used in this study diminished the cancer-induced angiogenesis.Endothelial cells incubated with conditioned media obtained from these Mg and Mg-6Ag showed a reduced cell layer permeability,a reduced proliferation and inhibited cell migration.The tube formation as a last step of angiogenesis was stimulated with the presence of Mg under normoxia and diminished under hypoxia.Philipp Globig Roshani Madurawala Regine Willumeit-Römer Fernanda Martini Elisa Mazzoni Bérengère J.C.Luthringer-Feyerabend 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,1:0

9Fungal diversity notes 1387-1511:taxonomic and phylogenetic contributions on genera and species of fungal taxa显示文摘This article is the 13th contribution in the Fungal Diversity Notes series,wherein 125 taxa from four phyla,ten classes,31 orders,69 families,92 genera and three genera incertae sedis are treated,demonstrating worldwide and geographic distri-bution.Fungal taxa described and illustrated in the present study include three new genera,69 new species,one new com-bination,one reference specimen and 51 new records on new hosts and new geographical distributions.Three new genera,Cylindrotorula(Torulaceae),Scolecoleotia(Leotiales genus incertae sedis)and Xenovaginatispora(Lindomycetaceae)are introduced based on distinct phylogenetic lineages and unique
