| 1 | A scientometric review of biochar research in the past 20 years(1998-2018)显示文摘Biochar is the carbon-rich product obtained from the thermochemical conversion of biomass under oxygen-limited conditions.Biochar has attained extensive attention due to its agronomical and environmental benefits in agro-ecosystems.This work adopts the scientometric analysis method to assess the development trends of biochar research based on the literature data retrieved from the Web of Science over the period of 1998-2018.By analysing the basic characteristics of 6934 publications,we found that the number of publications grew rapidly since 2010.Based on a keyword analysis,it is concluded that scholars have had a fundamental recognition of biochar and preliminarily found that biochar application had agronomic and environmental benefits during the period of 1998-2010.The clustering results of keywords in documents published during 2011-2015 showed that the main research hotspots were“biochar production”,“biochar and global climate change”,“soil quality and plant growth”,“organic pollutants removal”,and“heavy metals immobilization”.While in 2016-2018,beside these five main research hotspots,“biochar and composting”topic had also received greater attention,indicating that biochar utilization in organic solid waste composting is the current research hotspot.Moreover,updated reactors(e.g.,microwave reactor,fixed-bed reactor,screw-feeding reactor,bubbling fluidized bed reactor,etc.)or technologies(e.g.,solar pyrolysis,Thermo-Catalytic Reforming process,liquefaction technology,etc.)applied for efficient energy production and modified biochar for environmental remediation have been extensively studied recently.The findings may help the new researchers to seize the research frontier in the biochar field. | Ping Wu Syed Tahir Ata-Ul-Karim Bhupinder Pal Singh Hailong Wang Tongliang Wu Cun Liu Guodong Fang Dongmei Zhou Yujun Wang Wenfu Chen | 2019 | Biochar2019,1,1: | 36 |
| 2 | Probiotics for gastrointestinal disorders: Proposed recommendations for children of the Asia-Pacific region显示文摘Recommendations for probiotics are available in several regions. This paper proposes recommendations for probiotics in pediatric gastrointestinal diseases in the Asia-Pacific region. Epidemiology and clinical patterns of intestinal diseases in Asia-Pacific countries were discussed. Evidence-based recommendations and randomized controlled trials in the region were revised. Cultural aspects,health management issues and economic factors were also considered. Final recommendations were approved by applying the Likert scale and rated using the GRADE system. Saccharomyces boulardii CNCM I-745(Sb) and Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG(LGG) were strongly recommended as adjunct treatment to oral rehydration therapy for gastroenteritis. Lactobacillus reuteri could also be considered. Probiotics may be considered for prevention of(with the indicated strains): antibiotic-associated diarrhea(LGG or Sb); Clostridium difficile-induced diarrhea(Sb); nosocomial diarrhea(LGG); infantile colic(L reuteri) and as adjunct treatment of Helicobacter pylori(Sb and others). Specific probiotics with a history of safe use in preterm and term infants may be considered in infants for prevention of necrotizing enterocolitis. There is insufficient evidence for recommendations in other conditions. Despite a diversity of epidemiological,socioeconomical and health system conditions,similar recommendations apply well to Asia pacific countries. | 3 | Irritable bowel syndrome in children: Pathogenesis, diagnosis and evidence-based treatment显示文摘Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is the commonest cause of recurrent abdominal pain(RAP)in children in both more developed and developing parts of the world.It is defined by the RomeⅢcriteria for functional gastrointestinal disorders.It is characterized by abdominal pain that is improved by defecation and whose onset is associated with a change in stool form and or frequency and is not explained by structural or biochemical abnormalities.It is estimated that 10%-15%of older children and adolescents suffer from IBS.IBS can be considered to be a brain-gut disorder possibly due to complex interaction between environmental and hereditary factors.The diagnosis of IBS is made based on the RomeⅢcriteria together with ruling out organic causes of RAP in children such as inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease.Once the diagnosis of IBS is made,it is important to explain to the parents(and children)that there is no serious underlying disease.This reassurance may be effective treatment in a large number of cases.Lifestyle modifications,stress management,dietary interventions and probiotics may be beneficial in some cases.Although there is limited evidence for efficacy of pharmacological therapies suchas antispasmodics and antidiarrheals;these have a role in severe cases.Biopsychosocial therapies have shown encouraging results in initial trials but are beset by limited availability.Further research is necessary to understand the pathophysiology and provide specific focused therapies. | Bhupinder Kaur Shu Siba Prosad Paul | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,20: | 8 |

| 5 | Improved simultaneous quantitation of candesartan and hydrochlorthiazide in human plasma by UPLC–MS/MS and its application in bioequivalence studies显示文摘A validated ultra-performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometric method(UPLC–MS/MS) was used for the simultaneous quantitation of candesartan(CN) and hydrochlorothiazide(HCT) in human plasma. The analysis was performed on UPLC–MS/MS system using turbo ion spray interface.Negative ions were measured in multiple reaction monitoring(MRM) mode. The analytes were extracted using a liquid–liquid extraction(LLE) method by using 0.1 mL of plasma volume. The lower limit of quantitation for CN and HCT was 1.00 ng/mL whereas the upper limit of quantitation was 499.15 ng/mL and601.61 ng/mL for CN and HCT respectively. CN d4 and HCT-13Cd2 were used as the internal standards for CN and HCT respectively. The chromatography was achieved within 2.0 min run time using a C18 Phenomenex, Gemini NX(100 mm 4.6 mm, 5 mm) column with organic mixture:buffer solution(80:20, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.800 mL/min. | 7 | Screening of Rice Cultivars for Morpho-Physiological Responses to Early-Season Soil Moisture Stress显示文摘The majority of rice(Oryza sativa L.) produced in the southern USA is drill-seeded and grown under upland-like conditions because permanent flooding is established after the four-leaf stage. Therefore, rice during the seedling growth stage will be subjected to variable soil moisture content. A greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance of 15 rice cultivars commonly grown in Mississippi of USA under early-season soil moisture stress. Twenty morpho-physiological parameters of rice seedlings subjected to three different levels(100%, 66% and 33% field capacity) of soil moisture, from 10 to 30 d after sowing, were measured. Significant moisture stress × treatment interaction(P < 0.001) was observed for most of the parameters. Further, the total drought response index(TDRI) was developed to score the cultivars for drought tolerance with the variation from 26.88 to 36.21. Accordingly, the cultivars were classified into different groups of tolerance. The cultivars CL152 and CL142-AR were classified as the least and the most tolerant to drought based on TDRI and standard deviation, respectively. Even though both total root(R^2 = 0.98) or shoot(R^2 = 0.76) drought responses indices were positively correlated with TDRI, root traits were important in deriving the indices. Therefore, TDRI could be used to select cultivars for drought tolerance in a given environment and develop rice varieties with early-season drought tolerance. | 8 | Infections in Alcoholic Hepatitis显示文摘Severe alcoholic hepatitis (sAH) is defined by a modified discriminant function ≥32 or model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) >20. Patients with sAH are in an immu-nocompromised state attributed to cirrhosis-related immu-noparesis and corticosteroid use. Individuals with sAH often develop severe infections that adversely impact short-term prognosis. Currently, the corticosteroid prednisolone is the only treatment with proven efficacy in sAH;however, the combination of corticosteroid treatment and altered host defense in sAH has been thought to increase the risk of acquiring of bacterial, opportunistic fungal, and viral infec-tions. Newer studies have shown that corticosteroids do not increase occurrence of infections in those with sAH;unfor-tunately, the lack of response to corticosteroids may instead predispose to infection development. Prompt and appropri-ate antibiotic treatment is therefore essential to improving patient outcomes. This review highlights common infections and risk factors in patients with sAH.
