| 3 | Electron backscatter diffraction investigation of duplex-phase microstructure in a forged Zr-2.5Nb alloy显示文摘Microstructural features of a duplex-phase Zr-2.5Nb alloy were investigated in detail using electron channeling contrast(ECC)imaging and electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)technique in an emission gun scanning electron microscope(FEGSEM).The excellent resolution provided by the FEGSEM promises the combined utilization of both techniques to be quite adequate for characterizing the duplex-phase microstructures.Results show that the microstructure of the Zr-2.5Nb alloy is composed of bulkαgrains(majority)in equiaxed or plate shape and thinβfilms(minority)surrounding the bulk grains,with their average grain size and thickness measured to be 1.4μm and 72 nm,respectively.Analyses onα-grain boundaries reveal a number of low angle boundaries,most of which belong to deformation-induced dislocation boundaries.Measurements on relative proportions of various Burgers boundaries suggest very weak(if any)variant selection duringβ→αcooling,which should be related to deformation-induced higher nucleation rate ofαphases.Compared to earlier attempts,more satisfactory indexing of fineβphases(down to nanoscale)is attained by the FEGSEM-based EBSD.Examples are presented to clearly reveal well-obeyed Burgers orientation relationships between adjacentαandβphases.Finally,it is deduced that continuing application of the FEGSEM-based EBSD to duplex-phase Zr alloys could help clarify controversies like the deformation priority of the two phases. | CHAI LinJiang WANG ShuYan LUAN BaiFeng LIU Qing | 2016 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2016,59,4: | 5 |

| 7 | Microstructural characteristics of cold-rolled Zr-2.5Nb alloy annealed near the monotectoid temperature显示文摘A dual-phase Zr-2.5 Nb alloy was rolled at room temperature to 50% reduction and then annealed at two temperatures(560 and580°C) near the monotectoid temperature. X-ray diffraction, electron channeling contrast imaging and electron backscatter diffraction techniques were jointly used to characterize microstructural characteristics developed in the as-rolled and annealed specimens. Results show that plastic deformation occurs in both bulk α-Zr grains and thin β-Zr films during rolling, allowing large lattice strains to be accumulated in β-Zr and active dislocation slip(especially the prismatic áa?slip) to be initiated in α-Zr. During subsequent annealing at 580°C, the prior β-Zr films are transformed into submicron β-Zr particles, which lose coherency(the Burgers orientation relationship) with surrounding α grains. In the specimen annealed at 560°C, however, the prior β-Zr films are found to be decomposed into nanoscale β-Nb particles. In both the annealed specimens, the β-Zr and the β-Nb particles appeared to be linearly distributed along the rolling direction. Two types of α structures, i.e., small equiaxed crystallites formed by recovery of dislocation structures and coarse bamboo-like recrystallized grains, are revealed in the annealed specimens. | 15 | Concurrent inheritance of microstructure and texture after slow β→α cooling of commercially pure Zr显示文摘A rolled and recrystallized commercially pure Zr sheet was β-solution treated and then cooled at two rates, i.e. air cooling(AC)and furnace cooling(FC). Microstructures and textures of original and β-cooled specimens were characterized by use of electron channeling contrast imaging, electron backscatter diffraction and X-ray diffraction techniques. Results reveal a novel phenomenon, i.e. the concurrent inheritance of microstructure and texture in the FC specimen cooled at a very slow rate. In contrast, for the AC specimen with faster cooling, typical lamellar α phases are obtained with relatively scattered texture.Based on comparatively crystallographic and thermodynamic analyses, reasons accounting for microstructure and texture differences in both cases are discussed, highlighting the significant role played by the variant selection behavior. | 18 | Effect of grain size on α-variant selection in a ZrTiAlV alloy显示文摘Local crystallographic orientation characteristics of grains with different sizes in a ZrTiAlValloy after interrupted cooling from βphase region are investigated by electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD) technique. A statistical analysis of EBSD data shows that bigger parent β grains present weaker variant selection than smaller grains. The relevant influences are studied by comparing the nucleation behavior of grain boundary α(GBα) and succedent growth stage in varisized grains. In-depth analysis indicates that the deviation between pole of GBα and common pole of adjacent parent β grains is responsible for the smaller degree of variant selection inside the bigger parent β grains. | 19 | Recovery of Collembola in Pinus tabulaeformis Plantations显示文摘Large areas of forest plantations have been developed in China.It is important to evaluate the soil fauna in plantations and the conditions needed for their recovery in view of the large areas of plantations in China.Three Pinus tabulaeformis forests,a 26-year-old plantation(P26) and a 45-year-old plantation(P45),exposed to clear-cutting before plantation,and an 80-260-year-old natural forest(N260),were chosen to study the effects of different forest ages/types on Collembola community in the litter and soil layers during2008 and 2009.Soil conditions in P26 and P45 were significantly deteriorated when compared to N260.A higher value of soil bulk density and lower values of soil organic matter,soil N,litter depth,soil pH,and soil water content were observed in P26 and P45.Totally,the same genera of Collembola tended to occur in the forests of all ages studied;however,the Collembola community structure was significantly impacted by the differences in forest age.Both in the litter and soil layers,the density and generic richness of the Collembola were the highest in N260 and the lowest in P26.Some collembolan groups were sensitive to soil conditions in particular forest ages.N260 was associated with relatively high abundance of Plutomurus collembolans and P45 with relatively high abundance of Pseudofolsomia collembolans.The canonical correspondence analysis showed that the community structure of Collembola was mainly affected by forest age in both litter and soil layer.The ordination analysis of non-metric multidimensional scaling also found that the Collembola community did not recover to the level of natural forests in 26-year regeneration after clear-cutting.Even in 45-year regeneration after clear-cutting,the Collembola community only showed a slight recovery to the level of natural forests.Our results clearly showed that both Collembola community and soil conditions did not recover in 26- and 45-year regeneration after clear-cutting in P.tabulaeformis plantations;however,they might have the potential to recover in the future because the same genera of Collembola were distributed in the plantations and natural forests. | CHANG Liang WANG Baifeng LIU Xianghui Mac A.CALLAHAM Jr. GE Feng | 2017 | Pedosphere2017,27,1: | 1 |
