1Effectiveness of contrast-enhanced harmonic endoscopic ultrasound for the evaluation of solid pancreatic masses显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the usefulness of contrast-enhanced harmonic endoscopic ultrasound(CH-EUS)in differentiating between pancreatic adenocarcinomas and other pancreatic disease.METHODS:This retrospective cohort study evaluated90 patients who were seen between November 2010and May 2013.All these patients had solid pancreatic masses that had a hypoechoic appearance on EUS.All patients underwent CH-EUS to evaluate this diagnostic method’s usefulness.The mass lesions observed on CH-EUS were classified into three categories based on their echo intensity:hypoenhanced,isoenhanced,and hyperenhanced lesions.We adjusted the sensitivity and the specificity of each category for detecting malignancies.We also estimated the accuracy of CH-EUS by comparing it to a pathological diagnosis.RESULTS:Of the 90 patients,62 had a pancreatic adenocarcinoma.Fifty-seven out of 62 pancreatic adenocarcinomas showed a hypoenhanced pattern on CHEUS.The sensitivity was 92%,the specificity 68%and the accuracy approximately 82%.The area under the curve of the receiver operating characteristic analysis for CH-EUS was 0.799.There is a significant association between the hypoenhanced pattern on CH-EUS and pancreatic duct adenocarcinoma(χ2=35.264,P<0.001).In pathological examinations,the number of specimens for EUS-fine needle aspiration(EUS-FNA)was considered insufficient for diagnosis in three patients,and in two patients,the results were reported to be negative for malignancy.Pancreatic masses in all five patients revealed a hypoenhanced pattern with CH-EUS.Three patients were diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma based on the pathology results of a biopsy,and the remaining two patients were clinically diagnosed with malignancy.CONCLUSION:CH-EUS is useful for distinguishing between pancreatic adenocarcinoma and other pancreatic disease.When a pancreatic mass shows a hypoenhanced pattern on CH-EUS but involves either insufficient samples or negative results with EUS-FNA,clinicians might consider performing another pathologic diagnosis on the basis of an EUS-FNA sample or a biopsy.Jin-Seok Park Hyung Kil Kim Byoung Wook Bang Sang Gu Kim Seok Jeong Don Haeng Lee 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,2:7
2CRISPR/Cas9-mediated mutagenesis at microhomologous regions of human mitochondrial genome显示文摘Genetic manipulation of mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)could be harnessed for deciphering the gene function of mitochondria;it also acts as a promising approach for the therapeutic correction of pathogenic mutation in mtDNA.However,there is still a lack of direct evidence showing the edited mutagenesis within human mtDNA by clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats-associated protein 9(CRISPR/Cas9).Here,using engineered CRISPR/Cas9,we observed numerous insertion/deletion(InDel)events at several mtDNA microhomologous regions,which were triggered specifically by double-strand break(DSB)lesions within mtDNA.InDel mutagenesis was significantly improved by sgRNA multiplexing and a DSB repair inhibitor,iniparib,demonstrating the evidence of rewiring DSB repair status to manipulate mtDNA using CRISPR/Cas9.These findings would provide novel insights into mtDNA mutagenesis and mitochondrial gene therapy for diseases involving pathogenic mtDNA.Bang Wang Xiujuan Lv Yufei Wang Zhibo Wang Qi Liu Bin Lu Yong Liu Feng Gu 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,9:3

6TiO_2-assisted photo-catalysis degradation process of dye chemicals显示文摘The photo\|catalytic degradation pathway and degradation products of methylene blue, rhodamine B, methyl orange, and malachite green in aqueous TiO 2 suspension irradiated by high pressure mercury lamp by means of UV\|visible absorption spectra and ion chromatography were investigated. The photo\|catalysis degradation of dye solutions with charges was greatly effected by pH value owing to the electrostatic model. The photo\|degradation rate of dyes anion increased with the decrease of pH value, in contrast, the photo\|degradation rate of dyes cation increased with the increase of pH value. And the absorption peaks diminished with a blue shift. After illuminated for 30 minutes, a part of dye chemicals were completely mineralized and transferred into inorganic species including chloride ion, ammonium ion, nitrate ion, sulfate ion. And the addition of 100 mmol/L H 2O 2 promoted the formation of inorganic species. In this study, the quantity of ammonium ion was much more than that of nitrate ion. That indicated the formation of nitrate is from ammonium. The purification rate of COD in four kinds of dye solution was 71.7%—88.7%. 8Synergy in magnetic Ni_(x)Co_(1)O_(y) oxides enables base-free selective oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural on loaded Au nanoparticles显示文摘The base-free aerobic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF) to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA)in water is recognized as an important and sustainable upgrading process for cellulosic carbohydrates.However,selectivity control still remains a challenge.Here,we disclose that the unique synergy in magnetic Ni_(x)Co_(1)O_(y)(x=1,3 and 5) bimetallic oxides can induce reactive oxygen defects and simultaneously stabilize small-sized metallic Au nanoparticles in the Au/Ni_(x)Co_(1)O_(y)catalysts.Such catalytic features render effective adsorption and activation of O_(2),OH and C=O groups,realizing selective oxidation of HMF to FDCA.On a series of magnetic Au/Ni_(x)Co_(1)O_(y)catalysts with almost identical Au loadings(ca.0.5 wt%) and particle sizes(ca.2.7 nm),the variable Ni/Co molar ratios give rise to the tunable electron density of Au sites and synergistic effect between NiO and CoO_(y).The initial conversion rates of HMF and its derived intermediates(i.e., DFF,HMFCA and FFCA) show a volcano-like dependence on the number of oxygen defects(i.e.,O_(2)^(-)and O^(-)) and electron-rich Au0sites.The optimum Au/Ni3Co1Oycatalyst exhibits a highest productivity of FDCA(12.5 mmol_(FDCA)mol_(Au)^(-1)h^(-1)) among all the Au catalysts in the literature and achieves> 99% yield of FDCA at 120℃ and 10 bar of O_(2).In addition,this catalyst can be easily recovered by a magnet and show superior stability and reusability during six consecutive cycling tests.This work may shed a light on Au catalysis for the base-free oxidation of biomass compounds by smartly using the synergy in bimetallic oxide carriers.Hao Zhang Yinghao Wang Qizhao Zhang Bang Gu Qinghu Tang Qiue Cao Kun Wei Wenhao Fang 2023Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,3:0
