| 2 | Prevalence and evolution of drug resistance HIV-1 variants in Henan, China显示文摘To understand the prevalence and evolution of drug resistant HIV strains in Henan China after the implementation of free antiretroviral therapy for AIDS patients. 45 drug nave AIDS patients, 118 AIDS patients who received three months antiretroviral therapy and 124 AIDS patients who received six months antiretroviral treatment were recruited in the southern part of Henan province. Information on general condition, antiretroviral medicines, adherence and clinical syndromes were collected by face to face interview. Meanwhile, 14ml EDTA anticoagulant blood was drawn. CD4/CD8 T cell count, viral load and genotypic drug resistance were tested. The rates of clinical improvement were 55.1% and 50.8% respectively three months and six months after antiretroviral therapy. The mean CD4 cell count after antiretroviral therapy was significantly higher than in drug nave patients. The prevalence rate of drug resistant HIV strains were 13. 9%, 45.4% and 62.7% in drug nave patients, three month treatment patients and six month treatment patients, respectively. The number of resistance mutation codons and the frequency of mutations increased significantly with continued antiretroviral therapy. The mutation sites were primarily at the 103, 106 and 215 codons in the three-month treatment group and they increased to 15 codon mutations in the six-month treatment group. From this result, the evolution of drug resistant strains was inferred to begin with the high level NNRTI resistant strain, and then develop low level resistant strains to NRTIs. The HIV strains with high level resistance to NVP and low level resistance to AZT and DDI were highly prevalent because of the AZT+DDI+NVP combination therapy. These HIV strains were also cross resistant to DLV, EFV, DDC and D4T. Poor adherence to therapy was believed to be the main reason for the emergence and prevalence of drug resistant HIV strains. The prevalence of drug resistant HIV strains was increased with the continu- ation of antiretroviral therapy in the southern part of Henan province. | 3 | Nonselective beta-blockers in cirrhotic patients with no or small varices:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To explore effects of nonselective beta-blockers(NSBBs) in cirrhotic patients with no or small varices.METHODS:The Pub Med,EMBASE,Science Direct,and Cochrane library databases were searched for relevant papers.A meta-analysis was performed using ORs with 95%CI as the effect sizes.Subgroup analysis was conducted according to the studies including patients without varices and those with small varices.RESULTS:Overall,784 papers were initially retrieved from the database searches,of which six randomized controlled trials were included in the meta-analysis.The incidences of large varices development(OR = 1.05,95%CI:0.25-4.36;P = 0.95),first upper gastrointestinal bleeding(OR = 0.59,95%CI:0.24-1.47;P = 0.26),and death(OR = 0.70,95%CI:0.45-1.10;P = 0.12) were similar between NSBB and placebo groups.However,the incidence of adverse events was significantly higher in the NSBB group compared with the placebo group(OR = 3.47,95%CI:1.45-8.33;P = 0.005).The results of subgroup analyses were similar to those of overall analyses.CONCLUSION:The results of this meta-analysis indicate that NSBBs should not be recommended for cirrhotic patients with no or small varices. | Xing-Shun Qi Yong-Xin Bao Ming Bai Wen-Da Xu Jun-Na Dai Xiao-Zhong Guo | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,10: | 21 |

| 6 | Protection of PC12 Cells against Superoxide-induced Damage by Isoflavonoids from Astragalus mongholicus显示文摘Objective To further investigate the neuroprotective effects of five isoflavonoids from Astragalus mongholicus on xanthine (XA)/xanthine oxidase(XO)-induced injury to PC12 cells.Methods PC12 cells were damaged bv XA/XO.The activities of antioxidant enzymes,MTT,LDH,and GSH assays were used to evaluate the protection of these five isoflavonoids Contents of Bcl-2 family proteins were determined with flow cytometry.Results Among the five isoflavonoids including formononetin,ononin,9,10-dimethoxypterocarpan-3-O-β-D-glucoside,calycosin and calycosin-7-O-glucoside,calycosin and calycosin-7-O-glucoside were found to inhibit XA/XO-induced injury to PC12 cells.Their EC(50) values of formononetin and calycosin were 0.05μg/mL.Moreovet,treatment with these three isoflavonoids prevented a decrease in the activities of antioxidant enzymes,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),while formononetin and calycosin could prevent a significant deletion of GSH.In addition.only calycosin and calycosin-7-O-glucoside were shown to inhibit XO activity in cell-free system,with an approximate IC_(50) value of 10μg/mL and 50μg/mL.Formononetin and calycosin had no significant influence on Bcl-2 or Bax protein contents.Conclusion Neuroprotection of formononetin,calycosin and calycosin-7-O-glucoside may be mediated by increasing endogenous antioxidants,rather by inhibiting XO activities or by scavenging free radicals. | DE-HONG YU YONG-MING BAO LI-JIA AN MING YANG | 2009 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2009,22,1: | 13 |
| 7 | THE EFFECTS OF RADIATION STRESS ON WAVE HEIGHTS AND SEA LEVEL IN THE INTERACTION OF COUPLED WAVE-TIDE-SURGE IN THE COASTAL AREA显示文摘Based on coastal high resolution (2′×2′) coupled wave tide surge interaction numerical model, the effects of radiation stress on wave heights and sea level in the coastal area of Huanghe Delta were studied. By comparisons of simulated and measured wave heights and sea level for two mediately strong weather cases, it is demonstrated that the results simulated by coupled wave tide surge model are closer to the measured and particularly in excellent agreement in the extreme values of the wave heights and set up. This study shows that the radiation stress can increase the wave heights maximally to 67cm and sea level to 40cm. It is also found that there are areas of over 50cm wave height increase and an area of over 20cm sea level increase in the Huanghe Delta coastal area, and this find may be very important in engineering. | 9 | Re–Os dating of molybdenite and in-situ Pb isotopes of sulfides from the Lamo Zn–Cu deposit in the Dachang tin-polymetallic ore field, Guangxi, China显示文摘The Dachang tin-polymetallic district, Guangxi,China, is one of the largest tin ore fields in the world. Both cassiterite-sulfide and Zn–Cu skarn mineralization are hosted in the Mid-Upper Devonian carbonate-rich sediments adjacent to the underlying Cretaceous Longxianggai granite(91–97 Ma). The Lamo Zn–Cu deposit is a typical skarn deposit in the district and occurs at the contact zone between the Upper Devonian limestone and the granite.The ore minerals mainly consist of sphalerite, arsenopyrite,pyrrhotite, galena, chalcopyrite, and minor molybdenite.However, the age of mineralization and source of the metals are not well constrained. In this study, we use the molybdenite Re–Os dating method and in-situ Pb isotopes of sulfides from the Lamo deposit for the first time in order to directly determine the age of mineralization and the tracing source of metals. Six molybdenite samples yielded a more accurate Re–Os isochron age of 90.0 ± 1.1 Ma(MSWD = 0.72), which is much younger than the reported garnet Sm–Nd isochron age of 95 ± 11 Ma and quartz fluid inclusions Rb–Sr isochron age of 99 ± 6 Ma. This age is also interpreted as the age of Zn–Cu skarn mineralization in the Dachang district. The sensitivity of the parameters in the Duncan and Chang's E-B model is analyzed using the orthogonal test design. The case study shows that the parameters φ0, K, Rf, and Kb are sensitive to the deformation of the rock-fill dam and the inversion analysis for these parameters is performed by the HS-BPNN algorithm. With low viscosity and good water solubility, as well as anti-oxidant, immune regulation, anti-bacterial and antiinflammatory activities, AOS have been widely used in medical science and functional food, green agriculture and other fields. As new bio-feed additives, AOS have broad potential applications in animal husbandry. In this review, the sources of alginate, chemical structure and preparation methods of AOS, and their biological activities and application in livestock and poultry are summarized. | 13 | Folate receptor-mediated boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles as potential delivery vehicles for boron neutron capture therapy of nonfunctional pituitary adenomas显示文摘Invasive nonfunctional pituitary adenomas(NFPAs) are difficult to completely resect and often develop tumor recurrence after initial surgery.Currently,no medications are clinically effective in the control of NFPA.Although radiation therapy and radiosurgery are useful to prevent tumor regrowth,they are frequently withheld because of severe complications.Boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT) is a binary radiotherapy that selectively and maximally damages tumor cells without harming the surrounding normal tissue.Folate receptor(FR)-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles is a novel boron delivery agent that can be selectively taken up by FR-expressing cells via FR-mediated endocytosis.In this study,FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles were selectively taken up by NFPAs cells expressing FR but not other types of non-FR expressing pituitary adenomas.After incubation with boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles and following irradiation with thermal neutrons,the cell viability of NFPAs was significantly decreased,while apoptotic cells were simultaneously increased.However,cells administered the same dose of FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles without neutron irradiation or received the same neutron irradiation alone did not show significant decrease in cell viability or increase in apoptotic cells.The expression of Bcl-2 was down-regulated and the expression of Bax was up-regulated in NFPAs after treatment with FR-mediated BNCT.In conclusion,FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles may be an ideal delivery system of boron to NFPAs cells for BNCT.Furthermore,our study also provides a novel insight into therapeutic strategies for invasive NFPA refractory to conventional therapy,while exploring these new applications of BNCT for tumors,especially benign tumors. | DAI CongXin CAI Feng HWANG Kuo Chu ZHOU YongMao ZHANG ZiZhu LIU XiaoHai MA SiHai YANG YaKun YAO Yong FENG Ming BAO XinJie LI GuiLin WEI JunJi JIAO YongHui WEI ZhenQing MA WenBin WANG RenZhi | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,2: | 8 |
| 14 | A fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling and its applications显示文摘We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. | 15 | Effect of Ce on the cleanliness, microstructure and mechanical properties of high strength low alloy steel Q690E in industrial production process显示文摘In order to improve the strength and toughness of Q690 E steel sheets,the effect of rare earth element Ce on the strength and toughness of Q690 E steel was studied by means of transmission electron microscopy,scanning electron microscopy,and metallographic microscope.The results showed that the addition of Ce in steel limited the combination of S with Mn and Ca,transformed Al2O3 inclusion into spherical CeAlO3 inclusion,and modified the precipitate form of some composite inclusions of TiN and sulfide oxides into TiN precipitation alone.The inclusions were spheroidizing.The size of inclusions was decreased from 3–5μm to 1–2μm,and the distribution was dispersed.Ce played a role in purifying molten steel through desulphurization and deoxidization.Meanwhile,the addition of Ce in steel effectively increased the nucleation particles in the liquid phase,improved the nucleation rate,enlarged the equiaxed grain refinement area,and limited the development of columnar crystals.The average grain size of slab decreased from 45.76 to 35.25μm,and the proportion of large grain size(>50μm)decreased from 40.41%to 23.74%.The macrostructural examination of slab was improved from B0.5 to C2.0,which realized the refinement of the solidified structure and reduced the banded structure of hot rolled plate.In addition,due to the inheritance of refined structure in the upstream,the recrystallization of deformed austenite and the growth of grain after recrystallization were restrained,and a refined tempered sorbite structure was obtained.When rare earth element Ce was added,the width of the martensite lath bundle was narrowed from about 500 nm to about 200 nm,which realized a remarkable grain refinement strengthening and toughening effect.Mechanical properties such as tensile,yield,and low-temperature impact toughness were significantly improved. | Hao Wang Yan-ping Bao Ming Zhao Min Wang Xiao-ming Yuan Shuai Gao | 2019 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2019,26,11: | 7 |
| 16 | Design,methodology,and baseline of whole city‑million scale children and adolescents myopia survey(CAMS)in Wenzhou,China显示文摘Background:Myopia is the most common visual impairment in children and adolescents worldwide.This study described an economical and effective population-based screening pipeline and performed the project of a million scale children and adolescents myopia survey(CAMS),which will shed light on the further study of myopia from the level of epidemiology and precision medicine.Methods:We developed a novel population-based screening pattern,an intelligent screening process and internetbased information transmission and analysis system to carry out the survey consisting of school children in Wenzhou,China.The examination items include unaided distance visual acuity,presenting distance visual acuity,and noncycloplegic autorefraction.Myopia and high myopia were defined as spherical equivalent(SE)≤−1.00 diopters(D)and SE≤−6.00 D,respectively.Next,the reports of the vision checking were automatically sent to parents and the related departments.The CAMS project will be done two to four times annually with the support of the government.An online eyesight status information management system(OESIMS)was developed to construct comprehensive and efficient electronic vision health records(EVHRs)for myopia information inquiry,risk pre-warning,and further study.Results:The CAMS completed the first-round of screening within 30 days for 99.41%of Wenzhou students from districts and counties,in June 2019.A total of 1,060,925 participants were eligible for CAMS and 1,054,251(99.37%participation rate)were selected through data quality control,which comprised 1305 schools,and 580,609,251,050 and 170,967 elementary,middle,and high school students.The mean age of participants was 12.21±3.32 years(6-20 years),the female-to-male ratio was 0.82.The prevalence of myopia in elementary,middle,and high school students was 38.16%,77.52%,and 84.00%,respectively,and the high myopia incidence was 0.95%,6.90%,and 12.98%.Conclusions:The CAMS standardized myopia screening model involves automating large-scale information collection,data transmission,data analysis and early warning,thereby supporting myopia prevention and control.The entire survey reduced 90%of staff,cost,and time consumption compared with previous surveys.This will provide new insights for decision support for public health intervention. | Liangde Xu Youyuan Zhuang Guosi Zhang Yunlong Ma Jian Yuan Changseng Tu MiaoMiao Li Wencan Wang Yaru Zhang Xiaoyan Lu Jing Li Xinting Liu Zhengbo Xue Meng Zhou Jie Sun Jinhua Bao Ming Li Fan Lu Hong Wang Jianzhong Su Jia Qu | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 7 |

| 19 | Risk factors for operative morbidity and mortality in gastric cancer patients undergoing total gastrectomy显示文摘AIM: To study the risk factors for morbidity and mortality following total gastrectomy. METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the record of 125 consecutive patients who underwent tota gastrectomy for gastric cancer at the Second Affi liated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine between January 2003 and March 2008. RESULTS: The overall morbidity rate was 20.8% (27 patients) and the mortality rate was 3.2% (4 patients) Morbidity rates were higher in patients aged over 60 [odds ratio (OR) 4.23 (95% confidence interval (CI 1.09 to 12.05)], with preoperative comorbidity [with vs without, OR 1.25 (95% CI 1.13 to 8.12)], when the combined resection was performed [combined resection vs total gastrectomy only, OR 2.67 (95% C 1.58 to 5.06)].
