1Antimicrobial activity of mangrove plant(Lumnitzera littorea)显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antimicrobial activities of n-hexane.ethyl acetate and methanol extracts of the leaves of Lumnitzera littorea(L littorea) against six human pathogenic microbes. Methods:The antimicrobial activity was evaluated using disc diffusion and microdilution methods.Results:The antimicrobial activities of the crude extracts were increased with increasing the concentration.It is clear that n-hexane extract was the most effective extract. Additionally.Gram positive Bacillus cereus(B.cereus) appear to be the most sensitive strain while Pseudomonas aeruginosa(P.aeruginosa) and the yeast strains(Candida albicans(C. albicans) and Cryptococcus neoformans(C.neqformans)) appear to be resistance to the tested concentrations since no inhibition zone was observed.The inhibition of microbial growth at concentration as low as 0.04 mg/ml.indicated the potent antimicrobial activity of L littorea extracts.Conclusions:The obtained results are considered sufficient for further study to isolate the compounds responsible for the activity and suggesting the possibility of finding potent antibacterial agents from L littorea extracts.Shahbudin Saad Muhammad Taher Deny Susanti Haitham Qaralleh Nurul Afifah Binti Abdul Rahim 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2011,4,7:7
2Epithelial-mesenchymal transition as a therapeutic target for overcoming chemoresistance in pancreatic cancer显示文摘Pancreatic cancer has one of the worst prognoses among all cancers due to the late manifestation of identifiable symptoms and high resistance to chemo- and radiation therapies. In recent years, a cancer development phase termed epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) has gained increasing research focus. The process is implicated in tumour metastasis, and emerging evidence suggests EMT also contributes or induces chemoresistance in several cancers. Nevertheless, the applicability of therapeutic targeting of EMT faces many challenges. 6Toxicity evaluation of ZnO and TiO_2 nanomaterials in hydroponic red bean(Vigna angularis) plant:Physiology, biochemistry and kinetic transport显示文摘The toxicity and kinetic uptake potential of zinc oxide(Zn O) and titanium dioxide(TiO_2)nanomaterials into the red bean(Vigna angularis) plant were investigated. The results obtained revealed that Zn O, due to its high dissolution and strong binding capacity, readily accumulated in the root tissues and significantly inhibited the physiological activity of the plant. However, TiO_2 had a positive effect on plant physiology, resulting in promoted growth. The results of biochemical experiments implied that Zn O, through the generation of oxidative stress, significantly reduced the chlorophyll content, carotenoids and activity of stress-controlling enzymes. On the contrary, no negative biochemical impact was observed in plants treated with TiO_2. For the kinetic uptake and transport study, we designed two exposure systems in which Zn O and TiO_2 were exposed to red bean seedlings individually or in a mixture approach. The results showed that in single metal oxide treatments, the uptake and transport increased with increasing exposure period from one week to three weeks.However, in the metal oxide co-exposure treatment, due to complexation and competition among the particles, the uptake and transport were remarkably decreased. 7基于生物信息学分析的肝癌核心基因的筛选及验证显示文摘本研究基于GEO数据库,选取由慢性乙型肝炎诱导的肝细胞癌芯片数据GSE121248为研究对象,利用GEO_(2)R软件分析数据,筛选出差异表达基因,利用DAVID数据库进行GO分析和KEGG pathway富集分析。利用STRING数据库构建PPI网络,分析筛选核心基因。利用GEPIA对核心基因的表达进行验证,Kaplan Meier Plotter在线分析工具对核心基因与患者生存情况的相关性进行验证。通过上述方法筛选出309个DEGs,其中上调基因94个,下调基因215个。差异基因功能分析显示上调的DEGs主要参与细胞周期和卵母细胞减数分裂通路等途径,下调的DEGs则在补体和凝血级联、代谢途径以及咖啡因代谢途径富集。筛选出15个具有高度关联性的核心基因(BUB1,BUB1B,BIRC5,CCNB1,CCNB2,CDC20,CDK1,KIF-20A,MAD2L1,NCAPG,ZWINT,PBK,BTL,TTK和NUSAP1),它们与肝癌患者的总体生存率具有明显相关性,并为其构建了miRNA调控网络。本研究通过生物信息学方法有效分析了肝细胞癌发生、发展相关的差异表达基因,筛选出15个核心基因,分析其生物学相关功能,以期探索肝细胞癌发病机制,并为临床诊断标志物的改进以及筛选提供一定的理论基础。李怡敏 汪洋 袁琳 Nur Fazleen Binti Idris 黄国旺 涂增 2021基因组学与应用生物学2021,40,2:2
8An investigation into the effects of particle texture,water content and parallel plates' diameters on rheological behavior of fine sediment显示文摘Siltation,a phenomenon resulted from the presence of fine particles in an aqueous environment,dominated by silt and clay,is a known and common environmental issue worldwide.The accumulation of fine sediments engenders murky water with low oxygen levels,which leads to the death of aquatic life.Thus,investigating the physical and mechanical properties of fine sediment by rheological methods has expanded.Rheology is the science of deformation and flow of matter in stress.This survey investigates the rheological behavior of six samples of soil as the fine particles structure(D < 63 μm) from different regions of Malaysia by using a rotational rheometer with a parallel-plate measuring(using two sizes:25 mm and 50 mm) device to explore the flow and viscoelastic properties of fine particles.The samples were examined in two rheological curve and amplitude sweep test methods to investigate the effect of water content ratio,texture,and structure of patticles on rheological properties.It was found that the content of fine sand,clay,and silt had an effect on the stiffness,structural stability,and shear behavior.Thus,the pseudoplastic and viscoelastic behaviot are respectively shown.Moreover,the amount of fine sediments present in water i.e.the concentration of these particles,has a direct effect on the rheological curve.A reduction in viscosity of samples with higher concentrations of water has been observed.As a consequence,a considerable quantity of fine sediments are distributed within the water body and remain suspended over the time.As a result,the sedimentation rate slows down.It needs to be asserted that the stotage modulus G′,loss modulus G″,and yield point can vary depending on particle type.The G′ and G″were instigated for samples(70%and 45%concentrations) that demonstrated viscoelastic characteristics using the same rotational rheometer with a parallel-plate measuring device.Masoumeh Moayeri Kashani Lai Sai Hin Shaliza Binti Ibrahim Nik Meriam Binti Nik Sulaiman Fang Yenn Teo 2016International Journal of Sediment Research2016,31,2:2

14Development and characterization of food packaging bioplastic film from cocoa pod husk cellulose incorporated with sugarcane bagasse fibre显示文摘Agricultural wastes,including cocoa pod husk(waste from the chocolate industry)and sugarcane bagasse(waste from the sugar industry),are increasing day by day.The development of food packaging biofilms from these two wastes could be beneficial to the environment and human.Therefore,this study was conducted to develop biodegradable plastic films by using cocoa pod husk and sugarcane bagasse.Cellulose and fibre were extracted from cocoa pod husk and sugar-cane bagasse,respectively.The developed bioplastic films were divided into several concentration ratios of cellulose and fibre which are 100꞉0(100%cellulose),75꞉25(cellulose꞉fibre),50꞉50(cel-lulose꞉fibre),25꞉75(cellulose꞉fibre),and 0꞉100(100%fibre).The physicochemical properties for all bioplastic concentration ratios were determined in terms of sensory evaluation,drying time,moisture content,water absorption and water vapor permeability.From the observation and anal-ysis of the physicochemical properties of bioplastic,we found that the most suitable bioplastic film for food packaging goes to the combination of 75%cellulose and 25%fibre bioplastic,as it demonstrated the lowest water absorption percentage and water vapor permeability.Siti Nuurul Hud Mohammad Azmin Najah Aliah binti Mohd Hayat Mohd Shukri Mat Nor 2020Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2020,5,4:1
