| 1 | Mechanism of evolution on wintertime natural convection cooling effect of frac-tured-rock embankment in permafrost regions显示文摘Mechanism and evolution of the pore-air natu-ral convection cooling effect in fractured-rock embankmentsin permafrost regions are studied using a numerical repre-sentation of the non-dimensional governing equations in variable permeability porous media. The analyses show that winter-time natural convection in fractured-rock embank-ments begins to occur in the side slope portions and gradu-ally develops from the left and right side slope portions to themiddle portion of embankment. The more significant distor-tion of isotherms from their initial orientations due to heat conduction alone is that the cooling effect of winter-time natural convection on the fractured-rock embankment is stronger. The minimum critical Rayleigh numbers triggering natural convection of the pore-air in the side slope portions and the middle portion of embankment were obtained. The factors of influence on triggering winter-time convection cooling effect in fractured-rock embankments were analyzed. | 3 | Outliers Mining in Time Series Data Sets显示文摘In this paper, we present a cluster-based algorithm for time series outlier mining.We use discrete Fourier transformation (DFT) to transform time series from time domain to frequency domain. | 4 | Pore Size Distribution and Its Quantitative Relationship with Strength of Corundum Based Castables显示文摘A series of corundum based castables with 0,2%,4%,6%,and 8% α-Al2O3 micropowders were prepared using tabular alumina aggregates (6-3,3-1 and ≤1 mm) and fines (≤0.088 and ≤0.045 mm),calcium aluminate cement,and α-Al2O3 micropowders (d50=1.754 μm) as starting materials. Cold mechanical strength and pore size distribution of the castables specimens after heat treatment at 110,1 100 and 1 500 ℃ were tested,respectively. The quantitative relationship between strength and apparent porosity,and that between strength and median pore diameter were verified by Atzeni equation. The correlation between interval of pore size and mechanical strength of specimens was also studied by means of gray relational theory. The results show that:(1) the pore size distribution of castables is strongly influenced by both micropowders filling and matrix sintering; the addition of micropowders decreases median pore diameter while the sintering process increases it; (2) when adding a constant correction term,Atzeni equation can substantially describe the quantitative relationship between median pore diameter and strength of castables specimens after heat treatment at the same temperature; the significant differences of the gray relational degree between the interval of pore size and castables strength are characterized; it is also found that for the same interval of pore size,the gray relational degree isaffected by the heat treatment temperature; the pore size interval <0.5 μm has the highest gray relational degree with the strength at 110-1 500 ℃. | FANG Binxiang ZHU Boquan LI Xiangcheng WAN Hongbo | 2010 | China's Refractories2010,19,4: | 2 |
| 5 | The quantization of river network morphology based on the Tokunaga network显示文摘River network morphology not only reflects the structure of river stream but also has great effects on hydrological process, soil erosion, river evolution, and watershed topography. Here we propose and define a new sequence of self-similar networks and corresponding parameters for the generated Tokunaga network. We also discuss the topological and numerical characteristics of self-similar networks with different iteration rules by utilizing links and fractal dimension. Application results indicate that the proposed method could be used to generate river network, which is much consistent with natural river network. | 6 | The Origin of the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake Determined by the Analysis on the Active Longmenshan Nappe in Terms of Rockmass Mechanics显示文摘On 12 May 2008, the magnitude 8.0 Wenchuan Earthquake occurred along the Longmen Shan nappe, Sichuan, China. This devastating earthquake led to a heavy death toll of greater than 80,000. The seismic origin of this earthquake is currently hotly debated. We suppose that it is a special type of intraplate earthquake called an active-nappe-type earthquake. Using a holistic methodology, incorporating rockmass structure cybernetics and Byerlee's law, we present a comprehensive study on the geological origin of macroseisms in the Longmen Shan area and the seismic origin of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake. Previous studies of neotectonic activity indicate that the Longmen Shan nappe moves at a rate of 1~3 mm/yr, due to horizontal compressive stress from the Tibetan Plateau. The difference between movement rates in the Bayankala block, Longmen Shan nappe and Sichuan Basin cause slow shear stress and strain accumulation in the Longmen Shan nappe. It is exhibited a relatively simple linear relations for the shear strength and the buried depth of the structural planes, and the detachment layer of the nappe has a higher shearing-sliding strength compared to the overlying fault planes and the underlying ductile shear belts, thus making it more prone to stick-slip deformation. Therefore, the detachment layer was the main section responsible for the Wenchuan earthquake. The initial rupture burst in the detachment layer under the Yingxiu-Beichuan fault, the rupture area nearly 1.4454 × 104 km2,encompassed the cross point of the Yingxiu and the Anxian-Guanxian faults with the detachment layer, then caused the Yingxiu-Beichuan and Anxian-Guanxian faults took an active part in this earthquake, so this earthquake might consist of three chain-like earthquake stages, totally increasing the duration of this earthquake an unusually large amount, to 120 s.
