1Dual-ligand and hard-soft-acid-base strategies to optimize metal-organic framework nanocrystals for stable electrochemical cycling performance显示文摘Most metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)hardly maintain their physical and chemical properties after exposure to acidic,neutral,or alkaline aqueous solutions,resulting in insufficient stability,therefore limiting their applications.Thus,the design and synthesis of stable size/morphology-controlled MOF nanocrystals is critical but challenging.In this study,dual-ligand and hard-soft-acid-base strategies were used to fabricate a variety of 3D pillared-layer[Ni(thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate)(4,4'-bipyridine)]_(n) MOF nanocrystals(1D nanofibers,2D nanosheets and 3D aggregates)with controllable morphology by varying the concentration of 4,4'-bipyridine and thus controlling the crystal growth direction.Owing to the shorter ion diffusion length,enhanced electron/ion transfer and strong interactions between thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate and 4,4'-bipyridine,the 2D nanosheets showed much larger specific capacitance than 1D nanofibers and 3D aggregates.A single device with an output voltage as high as 3.0 V and exceptional cycling performance(95%of retention after 5000 cycles at 3 mA cm^(–2))was realized by configuring two aqueous asymmetric supercapacitive devices in series.The excellent cycling property and charge–discharge mechanism are consistent with the hard-soft-acid-base theory.Shasha Zheng Yan Sun Huaiguo Xue Pierre Braunstein Wei Huang Huan Pang 2022National Science Review2022,9,7:5
2Small intestine bleeding due to multifocal angiosarcoma显示文摘We report a case of an 84-year-old male patient with primary small intestinal angiosarcoma.The patient initially presented with anemia and melena.Consecutive endoscopy revealed no signs of upper or lower active gastrointestinal bleeding.The patient had been diagnosed 3 years previously with an aortic dilation,which was treated with a stent.Computed tomography suggested an aorto-intestinal fistula as the cause of the intestinal bleeding,leading to operative stent explantation and aortic replacement.However,an aorto-intestinal fistula was not found,and the intestinal bleeding did not arrest postoperatively.The constant need for blood transfusions made an exploratory laparotomy imperative,which showed multiple bleeding sites,predominately in the jejunal wall.A distal loop jejunostomy was conducted to contain the small intestinal bleeding and a segmental resection for histological evaluation was performed.The histological analysis revealed a lessdifferentiated tumor with characteristic CD31,cytokeratin,and vimentin expression,which led to the diagnosis of small intestinal angiosarcoma.Consequently,the infiltrated part of the jejunum was successfully resected in a subsequent operation,and adjuvant chemotherapy with paclitaxel was planned.Angiosarcoma of the small intestine is an extremely rare malignant neoplasm that presents with bleeding and high mortality.Early diagnosis and treatment are essential to improve outcome.A small intestinal angiosarcoma is a challenging diagnosis to make because of its rarity,nonspecific symptoms of altered intestinal function,nonspecific abdominal pain,severe melena,and acute abdominal signs.Therefore,a quick clinical and histological diagnosis and decisive measures including surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy should be the aim.Luisa Zacarias Fhrding Arne Macher Stefan Braunstein Wolfram Trudo Knoefel Stefan Andreas Topp 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,44:4
3Bimetallic Metal-Organic Framework with High-Adsorption Capacity toward Lithium Polysulfides for Lithium–sulfur Batteries显示文摘The practical application of Li-S batteries is largely impeded by the“shuttle effect”generated at the cathode which results in a short life cycle of the battery.To address this issue,this work discloses a bimetallic metal-organic framework(MOF)as a sulfur host material based on Al-MOF,commonly called(Al)MIL-53.To obtain a high-adsorption capacity to lithium polysulfides(Li_(2)S_(x),4≤x≤8),we present an effective strategy to incorporate sulfiphilic metal ion(Cu^(2+))with high-binding energy to Li_(2)S_(x) into the framework.Through a one-step hydrothermal method,Cu^(2+) is homogeneously dispersed in Al-MOF,producing a bimetallic Al/Cu-MOF as advanced cathode material.The macroscopic Li2S4 solution permeation test indicates that the Al/Cu-MOF has better adsorption capacity to lithium polysulfides than monometallic Al-MOF.The sulfur-transfusing process is executed via a melt-diffusion method to obtain the sulfur-containing Al/CuMOF(Al/Cu-MOF-S).The assembled Li-S batteries with Al/Cu-MOF-S yield improved cyclic performance,much better than that of monometallic AlMOF as sulfur host.It is shown that chemical immobilization is an effective method for polysulfide adsorption than physical confinement and the bimetallic Al/Cu-MOF,formed by incorporation of sulfiphilic Cu^(2+) into porous MOF,will provide a novel and powerful approach for efficient sulfur host materials.Pengbiao Geng Meng Du Xiaotian Guo Huan Pang Ziqi Tian Pierre Braunstein Qiang Xu 2022Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,2:4

5Flexible Vertex Engineers the Controlled Assembly of Distorted Supramolecular Tetrahedral and Octahedral Cages显示文摘Designing and building unique cage asemblies atrat increasing interet from supramolecular chemists but remain synthetically challenging.Herein,we propose the use of a flexible vertex with adjustable angles to selectively form highly distorted tetrahedral and octahedral cages,for the first time,in which the flexible ve rtex forms from the synergistic eft of coordination and covalent interactions.The inherent interligand angle of the vertex can be modulated by guest anions present,which allows for the fine-tuning of diferent cage geometries.Furthermore,the reversible structural transformation between tetrahedral and octahedral cages was achieved by anion exchange monitored by mass spectrometric technique,the smaller anions favoring tetrahedral cages,while the larger anions supporting octahedral cages.Additionally,the KBr-based cage thin films exhibited prominent enhancement of their third-order NLO responses in two or three orders of magnitude compared to those obtained for their corresponding solutions.This work not only provides a new methodology to build irregular polyhedral structures in a controlled and tunable way but also provides access to new kinds of promising functional optical materials.Shu-Jin Bao Ze-Ming Xu Tian-Chen Yu Ying-Lin Song Heng Wang Zheng Niu Xiaopeng Li Brendan F.Abrahams Pierre Braunstein Jian-Ping Lang 2022Research2022,,2:2
6Improved scoring system for the electrocardiographic diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy显示文摘BACKGROUND Left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) is a common manifestation of cardiovascular disease and a risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, but available methods for its electrocardiographic(ECG) diagnosis have limited accuracy.AIM To investigate findings associated with LVH on ECG and developed an improved system for the diagnosis of LVH.METHODS A cohort study comparing ECG data acquired within 30 days of transthoracic echocardiography(TTE) was performed. Multivariate regression analysis identified ECG findings associated with increased LV mass and mass index. A scoring system was derived and performance compared to established criteria for LVH.RESULTS Data from 5486 outpatients with TTEs and corresponding ECGs were included in the derivation cohort, 333(6.1%) of whom had LVH by TTE. In the primary regression analysis, findings associated with LVH were amplitudes of Q in V3, R in V6, S in V3, T in V6, P' in V1, P in V6, as well as R and T-axis discordance, R peak time in V6, QRS duration, weight, height, sex, and age. From this we derived a score consisting of 5 criteria, and validated it in an independent cohort of 910 patients. With a threshold of 1.5 points, sensitivity and specificity were67.9% and 81.4%, and 62.5% and 83.2% in the derivation and validation cohorts,respectively. With a threshold of 2 points, sensitivity and specificity were 42.3% and 93.0%, and 37.5% and 93.4% in these cohorts.CONCLUSIONS This score had superior sensitivity for detection of LVH by ECG while making a modest sacrifice in specificity compared to conventional criteria.Eric D Braunstein Lori B Croft Jonathan L Halperin Steve L Liao 2019World Journal of Cardiology2019,11,3:2
