2Cu–Mn–Ce ternary mixed-oxide catalysts for catalytic combustion of toluene显示文摘Cu–Mn, Cu–Mn–Ce, and Cu–Ce mixed-oxide catalysts were prepared by a citric acid sol–gel method and then characterized by XRD, BET, H_2-TPR and XPS analyses. Their catalytic properties were investigated in the toluene combustion reaction. Results showed that the Cu–Mn–Ce ternary mixed-oxide catalyst with 1:2:4 mole ratios had the highest catalytic activity, and 99% toluene conversion was achieved at temperatures below 220°C. In the Cu–Mn–Ce catalyst, a portion of Cu and Mn species entered into the Ce O_2 fluorite lattice, which led to the formation of a ceria-based solid solution. Excess Cu and Mn oxides existed on the surface of the ceria-based solid solution. 5A comparative study between Embosphere~ and conventional transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for treatment of unresectable liver metastasis from GIST显示文摘Objective:Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) is a standard treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and/or some unresectable liver metastasis tumors.Hypervascular liver metastatic lesions such as metastasis from gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) are an indication for transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE).The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Embosphere~-TAE(Embo-TAE) in comparison with conventional TACE(cTACE) for the treatment of liver metastasis from GIST.Methods:A total of 45 patients who underwent TACE between Aug 2008 and Feb 2013 were enrolled.Patients with GIST who underwent TAE with Embosphere~(n=19) were compared with controls who received cTACE(n=26).The primary end points were treatment response and treatment-related adverse events.The secondary end points were progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS).Results:The treatment response of Embo-TAE group was significantly higher than that of the cTACE group(P<0.001).The PFS was significantly better in the Embosphere~-group than in the cTACE group(56.6 and 42.1 weeks,respectively;P=0.003).However,there was no statistically significant difference in liver toxicity between the two groups(P>0.05).The median OS in the Embo-TAE group was longer than that in the cTACE group(74.0 weeks,95% CI:68.2-79.8 vs.61.7 weeks,95% CI:56.2-67.2 weeks)(unadjusted P=0.045).The use of Embo-TAE significantly reduced the risk of death in patients with GIST with liver metastases according to the Cox proportional hazards regression model [hazard ratio(HR):0.149;95% CI:0.064-0.475].Conclusions:TAE with Embosphere~ showed better treatment response and delayed tumor progression compared with cTACE.There was no significant difference in treatment-related hepatic toxicities.EmboTAE thus appears to be a feasible and promising approach in the treatment of liver metastasis from GIST.Guang Cao Xu Zhu Jian Li Lin Shen Renjie Yang Hui Chen Xiaodong Wang Song Gao Haifeng Xu Linzhong Zhu Peng Liu Jianhai Guo 2014Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,1:18

7Hierarchical pore structure of activated carbon fabricated by CO_2/microwave for volatile organic compounds adsorption显示文摘An activated carbon pore-expanding technique was achieved through innovative reactivation by CO_2/microwave.The original and modified activated carbons were characterized by nitrogen adsorption–desorption,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microcopy,and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.The mesopore volume increased from 0.122 cm^3·g^(-1) to 0.270 cm^3·g^(-1),and a hierarchical pore structure was formed.A gradual decrease in the phenolic hydroxyl and carboxyl groups on the surface of activated carbon enhanced the surface inertia of granular activated carbon(GAC).The toluene desorption rate of the modified sample increased by 8.81% compared with that of the original GAC.Adsorption isotherm fittings revealed that the Langmuir model was applicable for the original and modified activated carbons.The isosteric adsorption heat of toluene on the activated carbon decreased by approximately 50%,which endowed the modified sample with excellent stability in application.The modified samples showed an enhanced desorption performance of toluene,thereby opening a way to extend the cycle life and improve the economic performance of carbon adsorbent in practical engineering applications.Wenjuan Qiu Kang Dou Ying Zhou Haifeng Huang Yinfei Chen Hanfeng Lu 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,1:16
8MdGSTF6,activated by MdMYB1,plays an essential role in anthocyanin accumulation in apple显示文摘Anthocyanins are biosynthesized on the cytosolic surface of the endoplasmic reticulum and then transported into the vacuole for storage.Glutathione S-transferases(GSTs)are considered to be responsible for the transport of anthocyanins into the vacuole.However,the regulatory mechanisms of GSTs in plants are still unclear.Here,we performed a genome-wide analysis and identified 69 GST genes in apple.The expression of MdGSTF6 was positively correlated with the anthocyanin content(r=0.949)during‘Yanfu 8’fruit development.The overexpression of MdGSTF6 in the Arabidopsis thaliana tt19 mutant resulted in seedlings of 35S::MdGSTF6-GFP/tt19 that could accumulate anthocyanin and rescue its phenotype,suggesting that MdGSTF6 was an anthocyanin transporter.The silencing of MdGSTF6 affected anthocyanin accumulation in apple fruit.Moreover,the knockdown of MdGSTF6 by RNA interference in cultured‘Gala’seedlings inhibited anthocyanin accumulation.The interaction experiments showed that MdMYB1 could bind directly to the MdGSTF6 promoter to transcriptionally activate its expression.Collectively,our results demonstrate that MdGSTF6 encodes an important GST transporter of anthocyanins in apple fruit and provide evidence for the associated regulatory mechanisms.Therefore,MdMYB1 can not only regulate anthocyanin synthesis,but also control the transport of anthocyanin in apples.This information may be useful for further clarifying the regulation of anthocyanin transport in apple.Shenghui Jiang Min Chen Naibo He Xiaoliu Chen Nan Wang Qingguo Sun Tianliang Zhang Haifeng Xu Hongcheng Fang Yicheng Wang Zongying Zhang Shujing Wu Xuesen Chen 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:16
9Malus sieversii: the origin, flavonoid synthesis mechanism, and breeding of red-skinned and red-fleshed apples显示文摘Flavonoids play essential roles in human health.Apple(Malus domestica Borkh.),one of the most widely produced and economically important fruit crops in temperate regions,is a significant source of flavonoids in the human diet and is among the top nutritionally rated and most widely consumed fruits worldwide.Epidemiological studies have shown that the consumption of apples,which are rich in a variety of free and easily absorbable flavonoids,is associated with a decreased risk of various diseases.However,apple production is challenged by serious inbreeding problems.The narrowing of the hereditary base has resulted in apples with poor nutritional quality and low flavonoid contents.Recently,there have been advances in our understanding of the roles that Malus sieversii(Ledeb.)M.Roem has played in the process of apple domestication and breeding.In this study,we review the origin of cultivated apples and red-fleshed apples,and discuss the genetic diversity and construction of the core collections of M.sieversii.We also discuss current research progress and breeding programs on red-skinned and red-fleshed apples and summarize the exploitation and utilization of M.sieversii in the breeding of high-flavonoid,and red-fleshed apples.This study highlights a valuable pattern of horticultural crop breeding using wild germplasm resources.The future challenges and directions of research on the molecular mechanisms of flavonoid accumulation and high-flavonoid apple breeding are discussed.Nan Wang Shenghui Jiang Zongying Zhang Hongcheng Fang Haifeng Xu Yicheng Wang Xuesen Chen 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:15

12Economic optimization for configuration and sizing of micro integrated energy systems显示文摘Based on analysis of construction and operation of micro integrated energy systems(MIES), this paper presents economic optimization for their configuration and sizing. After presenting typical models for MIES, a residential community MIES is developed by analyzing residential direct energy consumption within a general design procedure. Integrating with available current technologies and local resources, the systematic design considers a prime mover, fed by natural gas, with wind power, photovoltaic generation, and two storage devices serving thermal energy and power to satisfy cooling, heating and electricity demands. Control strategies for MIES also arepresented in this study. Multi-objective formulas are obtained by analyzing annual cost and dumped renewable energy to achieve optimal coordination of energy supply and demand. According to historical load data and the probability distribution of distributed generation output,clustering methods based on K-means and discretization methods are employed to obtain typical scenarios representative of uncertainties. The modified non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm is applied to find the Pareto frontier of the constructed multi-objective formulas. In addition, aiming to explore the Pareto frontier, the dumped energy cost ratio is defined to check the energy balance in different MIES designs and provide decision support for the investors. 14Diclofop-methyl affects microbial rhizosphere community and induces systemic acquired resistance in rice显示文摘Diclofop-methyl(DM),a widely used herbicide in food crops,may partly contaminate the soil surface of natural ecosystems in agricultural area and exert toxic effects at low dose to nontarget plants.Even though rhizosphere microorganisms strongly interact with root cells,little is known regarding their potential modulating effect on herbicide toxicity in plants.Here we exposed rice seedlings(Xiushui 63) to 100 μg/L DM for 2 to 8 days and studied the effects of DM on rice rhizosphere microorganisms,rice systemic acquired resistance(SAR) and rice-microorganisms interactions.The results of metagenomic 16 S rDNA Illumina tags show that DM increases bacterial biomass and affects their community structure in the rice rhizosphere.After DM treatment,the relative abundance of the bacterium genera Massilia and Anderseniella increased the most relative to the control.In parallel,malate and oxalate exudation by rice roots increased,potentially acting as a carbon source for several rhizosphere bacteria.Transcriptomic analyses suggest that DM induced SAR in rice seedlings through the salicylic acid(but not the jasmonic acid) signal pathway.This response to DM stress conferred resistance to infection by a pathogenic bacterium,but was not influenced by the presence of bacteria in the rhizosphere since SAR transcripts did not change significantly in xenic and axenic plant roots exposed to DM.The present study provides new insights on the response of rice and its associated microorganisms to DM stress.Si Chen Xingxing Li Michel Lavoie Yujian Jin Jiahui Xu Zhengwei Fu Haifeng Qian 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1:8
15Strong link between large tropical volcanic eruptions and severe droughts prior to monsoon in the central Himalayas revealed by tree-ring records显示文摘Large tropical volcanic eruptions can cause short-term global cooling. However, little is known whether large tropical volcanic eruptions, like the one in Tambora/Indonesia in 1815, cause regional hydroclimatic anomalies. Using a tree-ring network of precisely dated Himalayan birch in the central Himalayas, we reconstructed variations in the regional pre-monsoon precipitation back to 1650 CE. A superposed epoch analysis indicates that the pre-monsoon regional droughts are associated with large tropical volcanic eruptions, appearing to have a strong influence on hydroclimatic conditions in the central Himalayas. In fact, the most severe drought since 1650 CE occurred after the Tambora eruption. These results suggest that dry conditions prior to monsoon in the central Himalayas were associated with explosive tropical volcanism. Prolonged La Ni?a events also correspond with persistent pre-monsoon droughts in the central Himalayas. 17Rational Fabrication of Superhydrophobic Nanocone Surface for Dynamic Water Repellency and Anti-icing Potential显示文摘In this work,a simple and economic route was presented to fabricate an anti-icing superhydrophobic surface with nanocone structures,which were constructed only by one-step facile method of hydrothermal treatment with zinc acetate on the aluminum substrate.After modifying with fluoroalkylsilane (FAS-17),the nanocone structures with the appropriate size could induce the high superhydrophobicity with the water contact angle reaching 160.2° ± 0.4° and the sliding angle only being 1 ° ± 0.5°.Under the dynamic environments,the impact droplets could rapidly bounced off the surface with the shorter contact time of^1 0.6 ms,and it was mainly attributing to lower capillary adhesive force (water adhesion force of 4.1 μN) induced by the open system of nanocone structures.Furthermore,the superhydrophobic nanocone surfaces were verified to be a promising anti-icing/icephobic materials,on which the water droplets needed to spend the time of ~517 s to complete the entire freezing process at-10 ℃,displaying the increased ~50 times of icing-delay performance comparing with untreated substrate.Even if ice finally was formed on the superhydrophobic nanocone surfaces,it could be easily removed away with lower ice adhesion of^45 kPa.The repeatable measurement of ice adhesion strength on the same place of the superhydrophobic surface is still far less than the surface ice adhesion of smooth substrate,exhibiting better stability.Yuehan Xie Haifeng Chen Yizhou Shen Jie Tao Mingming Jin Yu Wu Wenqing Hou 2019Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,1:7

19Facilely Fabricating Superhydrophobic Resin-based Coatings with Lower Water Freezing Temperature and Ice Adhesion for Anti-icing Application显示文摘This work is focused on the development of a facile strategy to fabricate superhydrophobic coatings,which are characterized with lower water freezing temperature and lower ice adhesion.First,a kind o f polyacrylic acid(PAA)based resin material is synthesized as the coating-matrix.Then the functionally-modified S i02 nanoparticles are added to regulate the surface morphology for obtaining the ideal superhydrophobicity.The as-synthesized resin coatings possess strong bonding strength with metal substrate,and the surface hierarchical morphologies(10 wt% SiO2 nanoparticles)induce the robust superhydrophobicity with a high water contact angle of 152°.Also,the superhydrophobic coatings are endowed with high icephobicity,and the freezing temperature of reference water droplet is reduced to-20.33℃ comparing with that(-13.83℃)on the coatings without additive nanoparticles.Furthermore,the ice adhesion strength on the superhydrophobic coatings is only 250 kPa,exhibiting the great ability of ice repellence.Weilan Liu Haifeng Chen Yizhou Shen Zhengwei Wu 2019Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,5:7
20Laboratory testing and molecular analysis of the resistance of wild and cultivated soybeans to cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera(Hübner)显示文摘Identifying a superior soybean variety with high defoliator resistance is important to avoid yield loss. Cotton bollworm(Helicoverpa armigera Hübner) is one of the major defoliators of soybean(Glycine max [L.] Merr.) worldwide. In this study, we evaluated the effect of H. armigera larvae on ED059, a wild soybean(Glycine soja Sieb. et Zucc.), and three cultivated soybean varieties: Tianlong 2, PI 535807, and PI 533604, in choice and no-choice assays. The percentage of ED059 leaflets consumed by H. armigera was lower than that of the three cultivated soybeans. Larvae that fed on ED059 exhibited low weight gain and high mortality rate.Waldbauer nutritional indices suggested that ED059 reduced the growth, consumption, and frass production of H. armigera larvae. Larvae that fed on ED059 showed lower efficiency of conversion of ingested and of digested food than those that fed on Tianlong 2 and PI 533604.However, they showed statistically similar consumption index and approximate digestibility compared with those fed on the three cultivated soybeans. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed that 24 h after insect attack, ED059 had higher transcript levels of Kunitz trypsin inhibitor 3, Cysteine proteinase inhibitor 2, and Nerolidol synthase 1 but a lower transcript level of Pathogenesis-related protein 1 than Tianlong 2. The gene expression results were consistent with the presence of higher levels of jasmonic acid(JA) and transcript levels of the JA biosynthesis enzyme allene oxide cyclase 3 in ED059 than in Tianlong 2.
