| 4 | Preclinical Long-term Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study of Silymarin Liver-protective Effects显示文摘Background and Aims:Efficacy evaluations with preclini-cal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)are uncommon,but MRI in the preclinical phase of drug development provides information that is useful for longitudinal monitoring.The study aim was to monitor the protective effectiveness of silymarin with multiparameter MRI and biomarkers in a thioacetamide(TAA)-induced model of liver injury in rats.Correlation analysis was conducted to assess compare the monitoring of liver function by MRI and biomarkers.Meth-ods:TAA was injected three times a week for 8 weeks to generate a disease model(TAA group).In the TAA and sily-marin-treated(TAA-SY)groups,silymarin was administered three times weekly from week 4.MR images were acquired at 0,2,4,6,and 8 weeks in the control,TAA,and TAA-SY groups.Results:The area under the curve to maximum time(AUCtmax)and T_(2)*values of the TAA group decreased over the study period,but the serological markers of liver abnormality increased significantly more than those in the control group.In the TAA-SY group,MRI and serological biomarkers indicated attenuation of liver function as in the TAA group.However,pattern changes were observed from week 6 to comparable levels in the control group with si-lymarin treatment.Negative correlations between either AUCtmax or T_(2)*values and the serological biomarkers were observed.Conclusions:Silymarin had hepatoprotective effects on TAA-induced liver injury and demonstrated the usefulness of multiparametric MRI to evaluate efficacy in preclinical studies of liver drug development. | Yeon Ji Chae Hwon Heo Chul-Woong Woo Sang-Tae Kim Jae-Im Kwon Monica Young Choi Yu Sub Sung Kyung Won Kim Jeong Kon Kim Yoonseok Choi Dong-Cheol Woo | 2022 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,6: | 0 |
| 5 | Discriminative subgraphs for discovering family photos显示文摘We propose to use discriminative subgraphs to discover family photos from group photos in an efficient and effective way. Group photos are represented as face graphs by identifying social contexts such as age, gender, and face position. The previous work utilized bag-of-word models and considered frequent subgraphs from all group photos as features for classification. This approach, however, produces numerous subgraphs, resulting in high dimensions.Furthermore, some of them are not discriminative.To solve these issues, we adopt a state-of-the-art,frequent subgraph mining method that removes nondiscriminative subgraphs. We also use TF-IDF normalization, which is more suitable for the bag-ofword model. To validate our method, we experiment in two datasets. Our method shows consistently better performance, higher accuracy in lower feature dimensions, compared to the previous method. | 6 | Magnetic wallpaper Dirac fermions and topological magnetic Dirac insulators显示文摘Topological crystalline insulators(TCIs)can host anomalous surface states which inherits the characteristics of crystalline symmetry that protects the bulk topology.Especially,the diversity of magnetic crystalline symmetries indicates the potential for novel magnetic TCIs with distinct surface characteristics.Here,we propose a topological magnetic Dirac insulator(TMDI),whose two-dimensional surface hosts fourfold-degenerate Dirac fermions protected by either the p'_(c)4mm or p40 g0 m magnetic wallpaper group.The bulk topology of TMDIs is protected by diagonal mirror symmetries,which give chiral dispersion of surface Dirac fermions and mirror-protected hinge modes.We propose candidate materials for TMDIs including Nd_(4)Te_(8)Cl_(4)O_(2)0 and DyB_(4) based on first-principles calculations,and construct a general scheme for searching TMDIs using the space group of paramagnetic parent states.Our theoretical discovery of TMDIs will facilitate future research on magnetic TCIs and illustrate a distinct way to achieve anomalous surface states in magnetic crystals. | Yoonseok Hwang Yuting Qian Junha Kang Jehyun Lee Dongchoon Ryu Hong Chul Choi Bohm-Jung Yang | 2023 | npj Computational Materials2023,,1: | 0 |
