| 9 | Mycelium as a self-growing biobased material for the fabrication of single-layer masks显示文摘Disposable face masks are an essential piece of personal protective equipment for workers in medical facilities,laboratories,and the general public to prevent the spread of illnesses and/or contamination.Covid-19 resulted in an uptick in the usage and production of face masks,exacerbating issues related to the waste and recycling of these materials.Traditionally,face masks are derived from petrochemicals,such as melt-blown or spunbound polypropylene.As such,there is a need to find sustainable mask materials that can maintain or improve the performance of petrochemical masks.This paper explores an alternative mask material that utilizes fungal mycelium as self-growing filaments to enhance the efficiency of individual polypropylene mask layers.By engineering the growth pattern and time,breathability and filtration efficiency was optimized such that one layer of the mycelium-modified mask could replace all three layers of the traditional three-layer mask.Additionally,it was found that the mycelium-modified mask exhibits asymmetric hydrophobicity,with super-hydrophobicity at the composite-air interface and lower hydrophobicity at the composite-medium interface.This property can improve the performance of the modified mask by protecting the mask from external liquids without trapping water vapor from the user’s breath.The findings from this study can provide a basis for further development of mycelium to create sustainable filtration materials with enhanced functionality. | Victoria French Chuanshen Du E.Johan Foster | 2023 | Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts2023,8,4: | 0 |
| 10 | Mining Compressed Frequent Subtrees Set显示文摘The number of frequent subtrees usually grows expo-nentially with the tree size because of combinatorial explosion. As a result, there are too many frequent subtrees for users to manage and use. To solve this problem, we generalize a compressed frame based on δ-cluster to the problem of compressing frequent-subtree sets, and propose an algorithm RPTlocal which can mine com-pressed frequent subtrees set directly. This algorithm sacrifices the theoretical bounds but still has good compression quality. By pruning the search space and generating frequent subtrees directly, this algorithm is also efficient. | 11 | 2021年夏季中国公共管理研究佳作评介显示文摘This article introduces four noteworthy papers published in China's top journals in Summer 2021,all of which are phenomenon-driven and design-based case studies.The first paper employs a process tracing approach to analyze the failure of policy coordination based on an empirical case regarding the revision of the price catalog for basic medical services in Province F.The second paper develops a triple mechanism framework to account for the distortions in China's grassroots policies.With a most similar case design,the third paper proposes a typology framework for campaign-style environmental governance and compares the mobilization models for environmental governance.Based on a grounded theory approach,the final paper analyzes data from thirty-eight public crises cases to reveal the mechanism of political mobilization for emergency management.These studies explain clear theoretical puzzles brought about by practical problems,and they provide a sense of the research designs in the case studies.They show three types of case studies:(1)two single case studies,one with a process tracing approach and the other illustrating a developed theoretical framework,(2)a comparative case study,and(3)a multi-case study applying a grounded theory strategy.These studies provide enlightenment and lessons for future Chinese case studies. | QIN Chuanshen ZAN Jincheng | 2021 | 公共管理评论2021,3,4: | 0 |
