3Interfacial behaviors of PMMA-PEO block copolymers at the air/water interface显示文摘Diblock copolymer of PMMA291-b-PEO114 and triblock copolymer of PMMA120-b- PEO227-b-PMMA120 were synthesized and their interfacial properties at the air-water interface were investigated, where both blocks of polyethylene oxide (PEO) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) are surface active but the former is soluble in water while the latter is not. Both the block copolymers could form monolayers with two obvious transition regions. The first transition point is around 10 mN/m, which could be assigned to the pancake-brush change of the PEO chains. The other is around 18 mN/m, which could be ascribed to the condensed packing of PMMA. The surface morphological changes during the compression of the Langmuir monolayers are inves-tigated by using the AFM and SEM methods for the films deposited at different surface pressure or molecular areas. At a lower surface pressure, a typical morphology of PEO-con- taining lipopolymers is observed. Upon compression, sphere-dominant morphologies were observed. 4Preparation of optical active polydiacetylene through gelating and the control of supramolecular chirality显示文摘Achiral diacetylene 10,12-pentacosadinoic acid (PCDA) and a chiral low-molecular-weight organogelator could form co-gel in organic solvent and it could be polymerized in the presence of Zn(II) ion or in the corresponding xerogel under UV-irradiation. Optically active polydiacetylene (PDA) were subsequently obtained. Supramolecular chirality of PDA could be controlled by the chirality of gelators. Left-handed and right-handed helical fibers were obtained by using Land D-gelators in xerogels respectively, and CD spectra exhibited mirror-image circular dichroism. 5Prediction of daytime variations of HO_2 radical concentrations in the marine boundary layer using BP network显示文摘A Back-Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) was established to predict the daytime variations of HO 2 radical concentration observed in the field campaign RISFEX 2003 (RIShiri Fall Experiment 2003) conducted in September 2003 at Rishiri Island (45.07 N,141.12 E,and 35m asl) in the Sea of Japan.The initial weight matrices and bias vectors for the network were optimized by a bee evolutionary genetic algorithm (BEGA).It was found that the input variables sensitive to HO 2 variation were photolysis frequency of O 3 to O(1 D) (J(O 1 D)),a composite parameter defined as the ratio of HC to NO x reactivity towards OH radicals (Φ),and the total aerosol surface area (A).The predicted results are closely correlated with the experimental data with the coefficient of determination (R2) close to 1.In addition,the means and ranges of the predicted HO 2 concentration agree with the observed data with the correlation coefficient (R),the index of agreement (IA) and the fractional bias (FB) in the range of 0.84-0.93,0.88-0.95 and 14%-7%,respectively.This study demonstrates that BPNN is a potential tool to predict the daytime variations of HO 2 radical concentrations in the marine boundary layer (MBL).WANG ZhuQing,CHEN YaShao,QI Bin & YANG Bing Key laboratory of Applied Surface and Colloid Chemistry,Ministry of Education School of Chemistry and Material Science,Shaanxi Normal University,Xi’an 710062,China 2010Science China Chemistry2010,53,12:4
6Studies on the phase properties of lyotropic liquid crystals of Brij35/sodium oleate/oleic acid/water system: By means of polarizing microscope, SAXS, 2H-NMR and rheological methods显示文摘The pseudo-quaternary phase diagram of Brij35/sodium oleate/oleic acid/water systems has been investigated, and the liquid crystal area has been identified, which covers about two thirds of the whole phase diagram. The liquid crystal structure and behavior have been also studied by using polarizing texture, small angle X-ray scattering, 2H-NMR and rheometer etc. The result shows that when the composition of the system changes along the line of AA′ in this large liquid crystal region, the structural change is cubic→cubic/lamellar→lamellar→lamellar/hexagonal→hexagonal. Meanwhile, we made the first attempt of systematic study of the rheological properties of the above system. 7Surface Activities of Calix [4]resorcinarenes Bearing Four Hydrophobic Chains and Its Solubilization for Organic Compounds显示文摘Calix resorcinarenes bearing four hydrophobic side chains ( Ar-Rn, Ar-Ph, and Ar-N) orient stably on water oil interface and show high solubilization capacities for organic compounds, such as long chain alcohols, benzene, toluene and dyes. The capacities are high even near the cmc of polyalkylated calix resorcinarenes, but the solubilities of organic compounds(solubilizates) decrease with the increase of the size of the solubilizates. Ar-R 6, with a chain length of six carbons, is the most effective among Ar-R n , Ar-Ph, and Ar-N; 11 fold mol of hexanol is dissolved in 2×10 -3 mol/L Ar-R 6. Moreover, Ar-R n bearing four alkyl side chains solubilizes the chain alcohols of the same chain length mostly. 8Selective flocculation of fines显示文摘A number of factors that affect selective flocculation of fines have been identified and the effect of some of parameters on process behavior has been explained with the help of a few case studies. Experiments with francolite montmorillonite and francolite palygorskite mixtures indicated that francolite recovery depends on pH and the type of dispersant. The results showed that removal of multivalent ionic species on clay mineral surfaces seems to enhance flocculation, and separation efficiency increases as Ca 2+ ions are removed from the surface. 20Sol-gel preparation and spectroscopic study of the pyrophanite MnTiO_3 nanoparticles显示文摘The nanosized xerogel of titanium dioxide (TiO2) and manganese oxides (MnO2, Mn2O3, Mn3O4) was prepared by the sol-gel method using manganese chloride (MnCl2·4H2O) and titanium isopropoxide (Ti(O-iPr)4) as precursors in cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)/ ethanol/H2O/HCl micelle solutions, following the calcinations of the produced powders at differ-ence temperatures. The nanostructure and phase composition of these nanoparticles were characterized with X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), en-ergy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The spectroscopic characterizations of these nanoparticles were also done with UV-Vis spectroscopy and laser Raman spectroscopy (LRS). XRD patterns show that the pyrophanite MnTiO3 phase was formed at the calcinations temperature of 900℃. The TEM images show that the nanoparti-cles are almost spherical or slight ellipose and the sizes are 50 nm on average. The UV-Vis spectra show that the nanosized MnTiO3 have significant absorption bands in the visible region.
