The crosstalk between autophagy and ferroptosis:what can we learn to target drug resistance in cancer?显示文摘Autophagy is a conserved intracellular degradation system that plays a dual role in cell death;thus, therapies targeting autophagy in cancer are somewhat controversial.Ferroptosis is a new form of regulated cell death featured with the iron-dependent accumulation of lethal lipid ROS.This pathway is morphologically, biochemically and genetically distinct from other forms of cell death.Accumulating studies have revealed crosstalk between autophagy and ferroptosis at the molecular level. In this review,we summarize the mechanisms of ferroptosis and autophagy, and more importantly, their roles in the drug resistance of cancer.Numerous connections between ferroptosis and autophagy have been revealed, and a strong causal relationship exists wherein one process controls the other and can be utilized as potential therapeutic targets for cancer. The elucidation of when and how to modulate their crosstalk using therapeutic strategies depends on an understanding of the fine-tuned switch between ferroptosis and autophagy, and approaches designed to manipulate the intensity of autophagy might be the key. | Yulu Zhou Yong Shen Cong Chen Xinbing Sui Jingjing Yang Linbo Wang Jichun Zhou | 2019 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2019,16,4: | 9
Curcumenol triggered ferroptosis in lung cancer cells via lncRNA H19/miR-19b-3p/FTH1 axis显示文摘Curcumenol,an effective ingredient of Wenyujin, has been reported that exerted its antitumor potential in a few cancer types. However, the effect and molecular mechanism of curcumenol in lung cancer are largely unknown. Here,we found that curcumenol induced cell death and suppressed cell proliferation in lung cancer cells.Next,we demonstrated that ferroptosis was the predominant method that contributed to curcumenol-induced cell death of lung cancer in vitro and vivo for the first time.Subsequently, using RNA sequencing,we found that the long non-coding RNA H19(lncRNA H19)was significantly downregulated in lung cancer cells treated with curcumenol, when compared to untreated controls.Overexpression of lncRNA H19 eliminated the anticancer effect of curcumenol, while lncRNA H19 knockdown promoted ferroptosis induced by curcumenol treatment.Mechanistically,we showed that lncRNA H19 functioned as a competing endogenous RNA to bind to miR-19b-3p,thereby enhanced the transcription activity of its endogenous target, ferritin heavy chain 1(FTH1),a marker of ferroptosis. In conclusion, our data show that the natural product curcumenol exerted its antitumor effects on lung cancer by triggering ferroptosis, and the lncRNA H19/miR-19b-3p/FTH1 axis plays an essential role in curcumenol-induced ferroptotic cell death. Therefore, our findings will hopefully provide a valuable drug for treating lung cancer patients. | Ruonan Zhang Ting Pan Yu Xiang Mingming Zhang Han Xie Zimao Liang Bi Chen Cong Xu Jing Wang Xingxing Huang Qianru Zhu Ziming Zhao Quan Gao Chengyong Wen Wencheng Liu Weirui Ma Jiao Feng Xueni Sun Ting Duan Elaine Lai-Han Leung Tian Xie Qibiao Wu Xinbing Sui | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,7: | 8
Performance Analysis of a Combined Absorption Refrigeration-Liquid Desiccant Dehumidification THIC System Driven by Low-Grade Heat Source显示文摘Traditional condensing air-conditioning systems consume large amounts of energy in hot and humid areas, and it is difficult to achieve simultaneous control of temperature and humidity.A combined absorption refrigeration(AR)and liquid desiccant dehumidification(LDD)air-conditioning system based on cascade utilization of low-grade heat source is proposed. The system can realize independent control of temperature and humidity and carry out profound recovery of low-grade heat sources.Under the design conditions, the heat utilization rate C reaches 21.05%,which is 2.73 times that of the conventional absorption refrigeration reference system.A parametric sensitivity analysis is performed to optimize the system. The C increases from 9.79%to 18.55%and the coefficient of performance C O P t increases from 0.33 to 0.35 with an increase in chilled water temperature from 7°C to 15°C.With an increase in regenerant solution temperature from 60°C to 70°C,the C achieves the optimal value of 21.05%at 68°C.C decreases from 21.05%to 15.05%as the concentration of the regenerant solution increases from 36%to 40%.Under variable environmental temperature and humidity, the C the proposed system changes within a small range and stays much higher than that of the reference system with the same quality heat source, which indicates that the proposed system has a better adaptability to changing environmental parameters. | XU Cong SUI Jun DAI Yuze LIU Feng LIU Hao | 2020 | Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,5: | 5
Activation of Uterine Smad3 Pathway Is Crucial for Embryo Implantation显示文摘Embryo implantation is a complicated physiological process tightly regulated by multiple biological molecules including growth factors.Transforming growth factor-betas(TGF-βs)and their most specific signal transduction factors,Smads, are expressed in the endometrium during the window of implantation.Recent researches indicated that Smad dependent TGF-β signaling may play an important role in the process of embryo implantation. In this study,we measured the expression of TGF-β1,TGF-β receptor type I(TpRI),Smad3 and p-Smad3 in the endometrium of mice and observed their elevation on day 4,5 and 6 of pseudopregnancy. Then we administrated a specific Smad3 inhibitor(Sis3)into the uterine cavity of mice on day 3 of pregnancy. The results showed a reduction in insulin-like growth factor-1(IGFBP-1)expression and the decreased number of implanted embryo after the administration. In addition,Sis3 was found to reduce the IGFBP-1 secretion in decidualized endometrial stromal cells.Taken all together, our findings demonstrated that TGF-β/Smad3 signaling is involved in the process of embryo implantation. | Juan LI Xi-yuan DONG Pei-wen YANG Shu-lin YANG Dan HU Han-wang ZHANG Cong SUI | 2019 | Current Medical Science2019,39,6: | 3
Lack of associations between polymorphisms in SOD2 (rs2758331),NOS3 (rs1808593),PPARδ(rs9794 and rs10865710) and the risk of osteoarthritis in a Chinese Han population:a case-control study显示文摘To the Editor:Osteoarthritis (OA) is defined as a kind of chronic degenerative joint disorder, and it is generally accepted that genetic factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of OA.Recently, increasing evidence suggested that the oxidative stress plays a critical role during OA development, and high levels of reaction oxygen species (ROS) could lead to greater lipid peroxidation,mtDNA damage, and signaling pathways' activation. | Le-Cheng Zhang Yong Hu Cong Sui | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,9: | 2
Tailoring the microstructure, mechanical and tribocorrosion performance of (CrNbTiAlV)N_(x) high-entropy nitride films by controlling nitrogen flow显示文摘The(CrNbTiAlV)N_(x)high-entropy nitride films were fabricated by adjusting nitrogen flow via magnetron sputtering. The microstructure, mechanical, electrochemical and tribocorrosion performances of the films were studied. The results show that the films transform from amorphous to nanocrystalline structure as nitrogen flow increased. The nanocrystalline films show super hardness(>40 GPa)and adhesion strength(>50 N).The amorphous film has a pretty anti-corrosion in static corrosion, while not in tribocorrosion condition. The film deposited at nitrogen flow of 38 sccm exhibits the optimal tribocorrosion performance in artificial seawater, with the highest open circuit potential(∼−0.1 V vs.Ag/AgCl),the lowest friction coefficient(∼0.162)and wear rate(∼7.48×10^(−7)mm^(3)N^(−1)m^(−1)). | Cunxiu Zhang Xiaolong Lu Cong Wang Xudong Sui Yanfang Wang Haibin Zhou Junying Hao | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,12: | 2
The Importance of Endocervical Curettage in an Old Post-Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure Woman with Abnormal Cervical Cytology and a Normal Punch Biopsy Histology:A Case Report and Literature Review显示文摘Endocervical curettage(ECC)is an optional practice during colposcopy, and the indication for endocervical curettage(ECC)is controversial between Europe and the USA.Here,we explored the value of ECC in a specific situation. An elderly post-loop electrosurgical excision procedure woman, who had undergone a colposcopy 4 months before, went for her follow-up and abnormal cytology was found, and both the ECC and punch biopsy showed negative results. Then,a second ECC was performed, which led to the diagnosis of a high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion. This case report shows that ECC is useful for diagnosing elderly women with Type 3 squamocolumnar junction. | Luo-Pei Guo Qing Cong Hao Zhang Long Sui | 2019 | Reproductive and Developmental Medicine2019,3,3: | 1

FOXG1的表达与人类神经胶质瘤的恶性肿瘤有关(英文)显示文摘Objective: Recent evidence indicates that the increased expression of FOXG1 is associated with tumor genesis. This study was designed to explore the expression and role which FOXG1 plays in human glioma. Methods: We detected the expression of FOXG1 by immunohistochemistry in glioma tissue samples. Following the down-regulation of FOXG1 in glioma cell lines by a specific short hairpin RNA, the function of FOXG1 in proliferation and apoptosis was assessed. Results: Glioma tissues exhibited notably higher expression of FOXG1 compared with control brain tissues and was positively correlated with histological malignancy. The down-regulation of FOXG1 in glioma cells led to a cell apoptosis in vitro. Conclusion: The overexpression of FOXG1 is a novel glioma malignancy marker, and FOXG1 may be used as a new target in therapeutic strategies for human glioma. | Zhiwei Shao Beibei Cong Aihua Sui Kai Meng Yihe Dou | 2014 | The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2014,13,12: | 1

3C^(pro)of FMDV inhibits type II interferon-stimulated JAK-STAT signaling pathway by blocking STAT1 nuclear translocation显示文摘Foot-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV)has developed various strategies to antagonize the host innate immunity.FMDV Lpro and 3Cpro interfere with type I IFNs through different mechanisms. The structural protein VP3 of FMDV degrades Janus kinase 1 to suppress IFN-γsignaling transduction.Whether non-structural proteins of FMDV are involved in restraining type II IFN signaling pathways is unknown. In this study,it was shown that FMDV replication was resistant to IFN-γtreatment after the infection was established and FMDV inhibited type II IFN induced expression of IFN-γ-stimulated genes(ISGs).We also showed for the first time that FMDV non-structural protein 3C antagonized IFN-γ-stimulated JAK-STAT signaling pathway by blocking STAT1 nuclear translocation.3C^(pro)expression significantly reduced the ISGs transcript levels and palindromic gamma-activated sequences(GAS)promoter activity, without affecting the protein level, tyrosine phosphorylation, and homodimerization of STAT1.Finally,we provided evidence that 3C protease activity played an essential role in degrading KPNA1 and thus inhibited ISGs mRNA and GAS promoter activities. Our results reveal a novel mechanism by which an FMDV non-structural protein antagonizes host type II IFN signaling. | Xiangju Wu Lei Chen Chao Sui Yue Hu Dandan Jiang Fan Yang Laura C.Miller Juntong Li Xiaoyan Cong Nataliia Hrabchenko Changhee Lee Yijun Du Jing Qi | 2023 | Virologica Sinica2023,38,3: | 0
A novel herbivorous wood-borer insect outbreak triggers die-offs of a foundation plant species in coastal ecosystems显示文摘Introduction:Understanding the trophic interactions between plants and herbivorous insects is essential for managing the ecosystem health and sustainability in the context of climate change and anthropogenic disturbance. The Tamarix chinensis is a foundation plant species of salt marshes in northern China, which provides a variety of ecological functions and services in coastal ecosystems such as withstanding storm tide, conserving biodiversity, and preventing shoreline erosion.Outcomes:However, through long-term field observations, for the first time,we found that the health of this population has been suffering from the potential outbreak of a novel wood-borer insect(Zeuzera leuconotum Butler)under multiple stresses, contributing substantially to the degradation of the coastal salt marshes.Discussion and Conclusion:Therefore, there is urgent need and great significance to investigate the potential impact of this herbivorous wood-borer insects on health and sustainability of plant community in coastal ecosystems for in-depth understanding its degradation mechanisms. | Zhonghua Ning Cong Chen Tian Xie Qing Wang Xu Ma Haochen Sui Baoshan Cui | 2020 | Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2020,6,1: | 0
Corrosion resistance and mechanisms of smart micro-arc oxidation/epoxy resin coatings on AZ31 Mg alloy: Strategic positioning of nanocontainers显示文摘Smart micro-arc oxidation(MAO)/epoxy resin(EP) composite coatings were formed on AZ31 magnesium(Mg) alloy. Mesoporous silica nanocontainers(MSN) encapsulated with sodium benzoate(SB) corrosion inhibitors were strategically incorporated in the MAO micropores and in the top EP layer. The influence of the strategic positioning of the nanocontainers on the corrosion protective performance of coating was investigated. The experimental results and analysis indicated that the superior corrosion resistance of the hybrid coating is ascribed to the protection mechanisms of the nanocontainers. This involves two phenomena:(1) the presence of the nanocontainers in the MAO micropores decreased the distance between MSN@SB and the substrate, demonstrating a low admittance value(^5.18 × 10^(-8)Ω^(-1)), and thus exhibiting significant corrosion inhibition and self-healing function;and(2) the addition of nanocontainers in the top EP layer densified the coating via sealing of the inherent defects, and hence the coating maintained higher resistance even after 90 days of immersion(1.13 × 10^(10)Ω cm^(2)).However, the possibility of corrosion inhibitors located away from the substrate transport to the substrate is reduced, reducing its effective utilization rate. This work demonstrates the importance of the positioning of nanocontainers in the coating for enhanced corrosion resistance, and thereby providing a novel perspective for the design of smart protective coatings through regulating the distribution of nanocontainers in the coatings. | Ai-meng Zhang Chengbao Liu Pu-sheng Sui Cong Sun Lan-yue Cui M.Bobby Kannan Rong-Chang Zeng | 2023 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2023,11,12: | 0
