| 1 | Records of the East Asian winter monsoon from the mud area on the inner shelf of the East China Sea since the mid-Holocene显示文摘AMS14C dating and analysis of grain size,major elements and clay minerals were applied to Core MZ01 from the mud area on the inner shelf of the East China Sea.Based on the environmentally sensitive grain size,clay mineral and major element assemblages,the history of the East Asia winter monsoon since the mid-Holocene could be reconstructed.These three proxies,mean grain size(>9.71μm),chemical index of alteration(CIA)and ratio of smectite to kaolinite in particular,show similar fluctuation patterns. | 5 | Weldability, microstructure and mechanical properties of laser-welded selective laser melted 304 stainless steel joints显示文摘Laser welding is a promising process for joining small components produced by selective laser melting (SLM) to fabricate the large-scale and complex-shaped parts. In the work, the morphology, microstructure, microhardness, tensile properties and corrosion resistance of the laser welded stress-relieved SLMed 304 stainless steel joints are investigated, as the different sections of stress-relieved SLMed 304 stainless steel are joined. Results show that the SLMed 304 stainless steel plates have a good laser weldability. The microstructure of laser-welded joints consists of the cellular dendrites in austenite matrix within columnar grains, exhibiting a coarser dendrite structure, lower microhardness (~220HV) and tensile properties (tensile strength of ~750 MPa, and area reduction of ~27.6%), but superior corrosion resistance to those of SLMed plates. The dendrite arm spacing of the joints varies from ~3.7μm in center zone, to ~5.0 (xm in fusion zone, to ~2.5 in epitaxial zone. The SLMed anisotropy shows a negligible effect on the microstructure and performance of the laser-welded joints. | 7 | Recent progress and challenges in screening and characterization of UGT1A1 inhibitors显示文摘Uridine-diphosphate glucuronosyltransferase 1 A1(UGT1 A1) is an important conjugative enzyme in mammals that is responsible for the conjugation and detoxification of both endogenous and xenobiotic compounds. Strong inhibition of UGT1 A1 may trigger adverse drug/herb–drug interactions, or result in metabolic disorders of endobiotic metabolism. Therefore, both the US Food and Drug Administration(FDA)and the European Medicines Agency(EMA) have recommended assaying the inhibitory potential of drugs under development on the human UGT1 A1 prior to approval. This review focuses on the significance,progress and challenges in discovery and characterization of UGT1 A1 inhibitors. Recent advances in the development of UGT1 A1 probes and their application for screening UGT1 A1 inhibitors are summarized and discussed in this review for the first time. Furthermore, a long list of UGT1 A1 inhibitors, including information on their inhibition potency, inhibition mode, and affinity, has been prepared and analyzed. Challenges and future directions in this field are highlighted in the final section. | 8 | Genome-wide characterization and analysis of b HLH transcription factors in Panax ginseng显示文摘Ginseng(Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) is one of the best-selling herbal medicines, with ginsenosides as its main pharmacologically active constituents. Although extensive chemical and pharmaceutical studies of these compounds have been performed, genome-wide studies of the basic helix-loop-helix(b HLH) transcription factors of ginseng are still limited. The b HLH transcription factor family is one of the largest transcription factor families found in eukaryotic organisms, and these proteins are involved in a myriad of regulatory processes. In our study, 169 bHLH transcription factor genes were identified in the genome of P. ginseng, and phylogenetic analysis indicated that these PGb HLHs could be classified into 24 subfamilies. A total of 21 RNA-seq data sets, including two sequencing libraries for jasmonate(JA)-responsive and 19 reported libraries for organ-specific expression analyses were constructed. Through a combination of gene-specific expression patterns and chemical contents,6 PGbHLH genes from 4 subfamilies were revealed to be potentially involved in the regulation of ginsenoside biosynthesis. These 6 PGbHLHs, which had distinct target genes, were further divided into two groups depending on the absence of MYC-N structure. | 9 | Kinetics of the accumulation of group 2 innate lymphoid cells in IL-33-induced and IL-25-induced murine models of asthma:a potential role for the chemokine CXCL16显示文摘ILC2s are implicated in asthma pathogenesis, but little is known about the mechanisms underlying their accumulation in airways.We investigated the time course of ILC2 accumulation in different tissues in murine models of asthma induced by a serial per-nasalchallenge with ovalbumin (OVA), house dust mice (HDM), IL-25 and IL-33 and explored the potential roles of ILC2-attractingchemokines in this phenomenon. Flow cytometry was used to enumerate ILC2s at various time points. The effects of cytokines andchemokines on ILC2 migration were measured in vitro using a chemotaxis assay and in vivo using small animal imaging. Comparedwith saline and OVA challenge, both IL-25 and IL-33 challenge alone induced significant accumulation of ILC2s in the mediastinallymph nodes, lung tissue and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of challenged animals, but with a distinct potency and kinetics. In vitro,IL-33 and CXCL16, but not IL-25 or CCL25, directly induced ILC2 migration. Small animal in vivo imaging further confirmed that asingle intranasal provocation with IL-33 or CXCL16 was sufficient to induce the accumulation of ILC2s in the lungs followinginjection via the tail vein. Moreover, IL-33-induced ILC2 migration involved the activation of ERK1/2, p38, Akt, JNK and NF-κB, whileCXCL16-induced ILC2 migration involved the activation of ERK1/2, p38 and Akt. These data support the hypothesis that epitheliumderived IL-25 and IL-33 induce lung accumulation of ILC2s, while IL-33 exerts a direct chemotactic effect in this process. | 10 | Downregulation of serum mi R-17 and mi R-106b levels in gastric cancer and benign gastric diseases显示文摘Altered micro RNA(mi RNA) associated with gastric cancer(GC) development and mi R-17 and mi R-106 b were differentially expressed in GC tissues. This study detected serum levels of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b expression in GC, benign gastric disease(BGD) and healthy controls to assess them as tumor markers for GC. Serum samples from 40 GC, 32 BGD(10 gastric ulcer, 14 gastric polyps, and 8 gastric ulcer with polyps) and 36 healthy individuals were subjected to quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR) analysis of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b expression. The data showed that the serum levels of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b were significantly reduced in healthy individuals and BGD patients compared to GC patients. There was a significant association of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b expression with age, but not with other clinicopathological features, such as gender, tumor differentiation, stage and lymphatic metastasis. Further analysis showed that, in discriminating GC patients from healthy controls, mi R-17 could yield a receiver-operating characteristic(ROC) area under the curve(AUC) of 0.879 with 80.6% sensitivity and 87.5% specificity and mi R-106 b could yield an AUC of 0.856 with 75.0% sensitivity and 92.5% specificity. The combined AUC of mi R-17 and mi R-106 b was 0.913 with 83.3% sensitivity and 87.5% specificity. | 11 | The microphysics of ice accretion on wires:Observations and simulations显示文摘The weather system, meteorological conditions, and microphysics of cloud, fog, and rain droplets are studied during the formation, growth, maintenance, and shedding periods of ice accretion on wires in Enshi, Hubei Province in China using 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 winter observations. The comprehensive observations include data of visibility, microphysics of fog and rain droplets, and ice thickness, as well as data from an automated weather station and other routinely recorded meteorological data. The results show that icing occurred during the passage of a cold front, with a high-pressure system and a cold temperature trough at 850 hPa, and a southeasterly at 500 hPa that provided abundant moisture. Ice formation usually started in the evening or early morning, and ice shed around noon the following day when the temperature was-1°C to 0°C. The averaged liquid water content of the fog droplet was distinctly greater during the growth period than during the other three periods, and there was precipitation during the growth period in each case of ice accretion. The growth rate of the ice thickness was clearly correlated with the liquid water content, with a correlation coefficient of 0.62. | 12 | Geochronology and Geochemistry of Li(Be)-Bearing Granitic Pegmatites from the Jiajika Superlarge Li-Polymetallic Deposit in Western Sichuan, China显示文摘Strategic emerging minerals such as lithium,beryllium,niobium and tantalum are the most important rare metals currently,especially with the increasing demand of emerging industries on rare metals in China.The Jiajika deposit with a complete Li-Be-Nb-Ta metallogenic series is the largest pegmatite type rare metal deposit in China at present.In this paper,systematic researches of geochronology and petrogeochemistry were carried out to understand the genetic relationships between mineralization and magma evolution in the Jiajika deposit,which might be helpful to further rare-element prospecting in Songpan-Garze area.Zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating yields a concordia age of 217±1.1 Ma and a weighted mean 206 Pb/238 U age of 217±0.84 Ma for the aplite from the No.308 pegmatite.Cassiterite LA-MC-ICPMS dating yields concordant ages of 211±4.6 Ma for the No.308 pegmatite vein and198±4.4 Ma for the No.133 pegmatite vein,indicating that the rare metal mineralization mainly occurred in the Late Indosinian Period,further suggesting that the granites,aplites and pegmatites in Jiajika formed during a relatively stable stage after the intense orogeny of the Indosinian cycle.The rare metal-bearing granitic rocks and pegmatites show a clear linear relationship between A/CNK and A/NK and are enriched in total alkalis and depleted in CaO,FeO,MnO,MgO,Ba and Sr.All barren rocks and mineralized rocks feature similar rare earth element and trace element geochemical patterns.Thus,these characteristics indicate that the aplites and pegmatites represent the highly differentiated products of the two-mica granite(MaG)in this area,which is the most likely parent magma.During the evolution of magma,strong alkali metasomatism occurred between the melt phase and the volatile-rich fluid phase;as a result,large-scale rare metal mineralization occurred in certain structural zones of the pegmatite veins in the Jiajika deposit. | Hongzhang Dai Denghong Wang Lijun Liu Yang Yu Jingjing Dai | 2019 | Journal of Earth Science2019,30,4: | 12 |

Although adding Xue Bi Jing further reduced 28-day mortality via modulating the host response, pharmacokinetic herbedrug interaction is a widely recognized issue that needs to be studied.Building on our earlier systematic chemical and human pharmacokinetic investigations of Xue Bi Jing, we evaluated the degree of pharmacokinetic compatibility for Xue Bi Jing/antibiotic combination based on mechanistic evidence of interaction risk. Considering both Xue Bi Jing-antibiotic and antibiotic-Xue Bi Jing interaction potential, we integrated informatics-based approach with experimental approach and developed a compound pair-based method for data processing. To reflect clinical reality, we selected for study Xue Bi Jing compounds bioavailable for drug interactions and 45 antibiotics commonly used in sepsis care in China. Based on the data of interacting with drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters, no Xue Bi Jing compound could pair, as perpetrator, with the antibiotics. Although some antibiotics could,due to their inhibition of uridine 50-diphosphoglucuronosyltransferase 2 B15, organic anion transporters1/2 and/or organic anion-transporting polypeptide 1 B3, pair with senkyunolide I, tanshinol and salvianolic acid B, the potential interactions(resulting in increased exposure) are likely desirable due to these Xue Bi Jing compounds’ low baseline exposure levels. Inhibition of aldehyde dehydrogenase by 7 antibiotics probably results in undesirable reduction of exposure to protocatechuic acid from Xue Bi Jing.Collectively, Xue Bi Jing/antibiotic combination exhibited a high degree of pharmacokinetic compatibility at clinically relevant doses. | 19 | Fate of Basal N Under Split Fertilization in Rice with ^(15)N Isotope Tracer显示文摘Split fertilization strategy is popularly adopted in rice to synchronize soil nitrogen(N) supply and crop N demand. Attention has been paid more on mid-season topdressing N, but limited on basal N. A clearer understanding of the basal N fate under split fertilization is crucial for determining rational basal N split ratio to improve the yield and reduce the loss to environment. A two-year field experiment with two N rates of 150 and 300 kg Nha^(-1), two split ratios of basal N, 40% and 25%, and two rice varieties,Wuyunjing 23(japonica) and Y-liangyou 2(super hybrid indica), was conducted. Labelled ^(15) N urea was supplied in micro-plots as basal fertilizer to determine the plant uptake, translocation, soil residual, and loss of basal N fertilizer. The results showed that basal N absorbed by rice was only 1.6%–11.5% before tillering fertilization(8–10 d after transplanting), 6.5%–21.4% from tillering fertilization to panicle fertilization, and little(0.1%–4.4%) after panicle fertilization. The recovery efficiency of basal N for the entire rice growth stage was low and ranged from 18.7% to 24.8%, not significantly affected by cultivars or N treatments. Soil residual basal N accounted for 10.3%–36.4% and decreased with increasing total N rate and basal N ratio, regardless of variety and year. 43.8%–70.4% of basal N was lost into the environment based on the N balance. Basal N loss was significantly linearly positive related with the basal N rate and obviously enhanced by the increasing basal N ratio for both varieties in both 2012 and 2013. The N use efficiency and yield was significantly improved when decreasing the basal N ratio from 40% to 25%. | 20 | Physicochemical analysis of individual atmospheric fine particles based on effective surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy显示文摘Fine particles associated with haze pollution threaten the health of more than 400 million people in China. It is therefore of great importance to thoroughly investigate and understand their composition. To determine the physicochemical properties in atmospheric fine particles at the micrometer level, we described a sensitive and feasible surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) method using Ag foil as a substrate. This novel method enhanced the Raman signal intensities up to 10,000 a.u. for ν(NO_3^-) in fine particles.The SERS effect of Ag foil was further studied experimentally and theoretically and found to have an enhancement factor of the order of ~10~4. Size-fractionated real particle samples with aerodynamic diameters of 0.4–2.5 μm were successfully collected on a heavy haze day,allowing ready observation of morphology and identification of chemical components, such as soot, nitrates, and sulfates.
