| 1 | Expression Patterns of ABA and GA Metabolism Genes and Hormone Levels during Rice Seed Development and Imbibition: A Comparison of Dormant and Non-Dormant Rice Cultivars显示文摘Seed dormancy is an important agronomic trait in cereals. Using deep dormant(N22), medium dormant(ZH11), and non-dormant(G46B)rice cultivars, we correlated seed dormancy phenotypes with abscisic acid(ABA) and gibberellin(GA) metabolism gene expression profiles and phytohormone levels during seed development and imbibition. A time course analysis of ABA and GA content during seed development showed that N22 had a high ABA level at early and middle seed developmental stages, while at late developmental stage it declined to the level of ZH11; however, its ABA/GA ratio maintained at a high level throughout seed development. By contrast, G46 B had the lowest ABA content during seed development though at early developmental stage its ABA level was close to that of ZH11, and its ABA/GA ratio peaked at late developmental stage that was at the same level of ZH11. Compared with N22 and G46 B, ZH11 had an even and medium ABA level during seed development and its ABA/GA ratio peaked at the middle developmental stage. Moreover, the seed development time-point having high ABA/GA ratio also had relatively high transcript levels for key genes in ABA and GA metabolism pathways across three cultivars. These indicated that the embryo-imposed dormancy has been induced before the late developmental stage and is determined by ABA/GA ratio. A similar analysis during seed imbibition showed that ABA was synthesized in different degrees for the three cultivars. | 3 | CO_2 efflux from different forest soils and impact factors in Dinghu Mountain, China显示文摘CO2 fluxes from soils and related environmental factors were measured in three forest ecosystems of Dinghu Mountain using static chamber-gas chromatograph technique for one year. The seasonal pattern of CO2 flux, contribution of litter on total CO2 flux and the correlations of CO2 flux with soil temperature and soil water content were examined for each type of forest. The results were given as followings: (1) The seasonal patterns of CO2 flux from soil of the three types of forest were similar, with a higher CO2 flux in rainy season than in dry season. The comparative relations of mean annual CO2 fluxes between the three sites were expressed as:monsoon forest > mixed forest > pine forest. (2) CO2 fluxes from litter decomposition in monsoon forest, mixed forest and pine forest accounted for 24.43%, 41.75% and 29.23% of the corresponding total CO2 fluxes from forest floor, respectively. (3) Significant relationships were found between CO2 fluxes and soil temperatures at 5 cm depth for the three types of forest, which could be best described by exponential equations. The calculated Q10 values based on soil temperature at 5 cm depth ranged from 1.86 to 3.24. | 4 | Comparative analysis of antioxidant activities of essential oils and extracts of fennel(Foeniculum vulgare Mill.)seeds from Egypt and China显示文摘The present study was conducted to assay the antioxidant activities of essential oils and ethanol extracts of fennel(Foeniculum vulgare Mill.)seeds from Egypt and China.The major components of the Egyptian fennel essential oil were estragole(51.04%),limonene(11.45%),l-fenchone(8.19%)and trans-anethole(3.62%)by GC–MS analysis.Whereas,the major constituents of Chinese fennel essential oil were transanethole(54.26%),estragole(20.25%),l-fenchone(7.36%)and limonene(2.41%).The fennel seed extracts from Egypt and China contained appreciable levels of total phenolic contents(42.24 and 30.94 mg PE/g,respectively).The extracts exhibited good DPPH radical scavenging capacity with IC50(6.34 and 7.17 mg/g),respectively.A high variation in free radical scavenging activities of essential oils was observed.The Chinese fennel essential oil showed high activity in DPPH radical scavenging with IC50(15.66 mg/g).The Egyptian fennel essential oil showed very low activity with IC50(141.82 mg/g).The results of the present investigation demonstrated significant variations in the antioxidant activities of fennel essential oils and extracts from Egypt and China. | Adel F.Ahmed Mengjin Shi Cunyu Liu Wenyi Kang | 2019 | Food Science and Human Wellness2019,8,1: | 6 |

| 6 | Randomized controlled study of a diagnosis and treatment plan for moderate coronavirus disease 2019 that integrates Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of a diagnosis and treatment plan for moderate coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)that integrates traditional Chinese(TCM)and western medicine.METHODS:One hundred twenty patients with moderate COVID-19 were randomized 1∶2 to the control group(n=40)and experimental group(n=80).Both groups received conventional western medicine treatment,and the experimental group also received TCM decoction.Over a 2-week period from diagnosis,we observed the time to clinical recovery(TTCR),rate of improvement on lung computed tomography(CT)imaging,time to defervescence,cough remission time,hospital discharge rate,average hospitalization stay,modified Medical Research Council(m MRC)scale score,clinical cure rate,laboratory findings,incidence of progression to severe or critical disease,and adverse events.RESULTS:Among 120 enrolled patients,108 completed the study.The baseline data did not differ between the experimental and control groups(all P>0.05).After treatment,the TTCR,rate of lung CT imaging improvement,time to defervescence,cough remission time,hospital discharge rate,average hospitalization stay(among discharged patients),m MRC scale score,clinical cure rate,and rates of normal values for laboratory findings were better in the experimental group than in the control group(P<0.05 or<0.01).The incidence of progression to severe or critical disease and the incidence of adverse events did not differ between the two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:The diagnosis and treatment plan integrating Chinese and western medicine showed improved clinical efficacy compared with western medicine alone for patients with moderate COVID-19 and is worthy of clinical promotion and application. | XIA Wenguang ZHENG Chanjuan ZHANG Jixian HUANG Min LI Qinglin DUAN Can LI Zhengliang FAN Cunyu ZOU Yilong XU Bo YANG Fengwen LIU Qingquan | 2022 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,2: | 2 |

| 9 | A New Pterodactyloid Pterosaur from the Early Cretaceous of the Western Part of Liaoning Province, Northeastern China显示文摘Pangupterus liui gen. et sp. nov. from the Jiufotang Formation of Sihedang, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province is erected based on a nearly complete lower jaw. It is characterized by having a total of 36 slender curved teeth with sharp tips, forming a distinct fish-grabbing mechanism; the teeth are well-spaced and are circular in section; the length ratio of the mandibular symphysis to the whole jaw is 20%; and the ratio of the tooth root width to tooth length is 12%. | 12 | Effect of Rare Earth Doping on the Tensile Properties of High Temperature Oxidation Coating显示文摘The failure process was characterized by complex diffusion of elements in the bonding layer,TGO growth and growth stress inside the coating.We studied the aluminum migration phenomenon of NiCoCrAlY and NiCoCrAlYHf coatings under high temperature oxidation,TGO growth characteristics,the microstructure and composition of the bonding layer,and integrates them into the description of the surface strain under coating tension.The experimental results show that the TGO growth rate of NiCoCrAIYHf coating is lower than that of NiCoCrAIY coating,and the formed TGO is thinner.After high temperature oxidation,the cracking time of NiCoCrAIY coating is advanced,while the cracking time of rare earth doped coating is delayed.The addition of rare earth elements can effectively inhibit the generation of spinel phase,improve the fracture toughness of TGO,refine the grains in the bonding layer,and increase the grain boundary strengthening by 29.1 MPa which is consistent with the experimental value.Therefore,the yield strength of the doped coating is improved and the crack time of the coating is delayed. | ZHANG Shilei LI Shuai ZHAO Yuncai WANG Ximao LIU Cunyu | 2023 | Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2023,38,6: | 0 |
