The pathologic relevance of metabolic criteria in patients with biopsy-proven nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic dysfunction associated fatty liver disease:A multicenter cross-sectional study in China显示文摘Background:This study aimed to assess the association between metabolic syndrome(Met S)and severity of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and to discuss the pathological relevance of the diagnostic criteria in metabolic(dysfunction)associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD).Methods:This was a multicenter,cross-sectional study.Patients with NAFLD confirmed by liver biopsy were enrolled between July 2016 and December 2018 from 14 centers across the mainland of China.Anthropometric and metabolic parameters were collected to assess the pathological relevance. Results:Of 246 enrolled patients with NAFLD,150(61.0%)had the comorbidity of Met S.With the increase of metabolic components, the proportions of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH)and significant fibrosis were notably increased. The comorbid three metabolic components significantly increased the proportion of NASH,and further increase of metabolic components did not increase the proportion of NASH.However, the increase of metabolic components was parallel to the increase of the proportion of liver fibrosis.Among the 246 patients,239(97.2%)met the diagnostic criteria of MAFLD.Although non-MAFLD patients had less NASH,they present with similar proportion of significant fibrosis and cirrhosis. In the diagnostic criteria of MAFLD,BMI≥23 kg/m2 was related to NASH(Mantel-Haenszel Common Estimate OR:2.975;95%CI:1.037–8.538;P=0.043),and T2 DM was related to significant fibrosis(Mantel-Haenszel Common Estimate OR:2.531;95%CI:1.388–4.613;P=0.002).The homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)≥2.5 was the most significant factor for NASH(OR:4.100;95%CI:1.772–9.487;P=0.001)and significant factor for liver fibrosis(OR:2.947;95%CI:1.398–6.210;P=0.004)after the adjustments of the BMI and diabetes. Conclusions:Metabolic dysregulations are important risk factors in NAFLD progression. The insulin resistance status may play a predominant role in the progression in MAFLD patients. | Rui-Xu Yang Zheng-Sheng Zou Bi-Hui Zhong Hong Deng Fang-Ping He Jun-Ping Shi Cai-Yan Zhao Yu-Qiang Mi Yong-Jian Zhou Fu-Sheng Di Rui-Dan Zheng Qin Du Jia Shang Branko Popovic Jin Jun Chen Jian-Gao Fan | 2021 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2021,20,5: | 5
Sequential immunizations confer cross-protection against variants of SARS-CoV-2,including Omicron in Rhesus macaques显示文摘Variants of concern(VOCs)like Delta and Omicron, harbor a high number of mutations, which aid these viruses in escaping a majority of known SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies(NAbs). In this study,Rhesus macaques immunized with 2-dose inactivated vaccines(Coronavac)were boosted with an additional dose of homologous vaccine or an RBD-subunit vaccine,or a bivalent inactivated vaccine(Beta and Delta)to determine the effectiveness of sequential immunization. The booster vaccination significantly enhanced the duration and levels of neutralizing antibody titers against wild-type. | Wei Deng Qi Lv Fengdi Li Jiangning Liu Zhiqi Song Feifei Qi Qiang Wei Pin Yu Mingya Liu Shasha Zhou Yaqing Zhang Hong Gao Nan Wang Zijing Jia Kai Gao Jiayi Liu Chong Xiao Haiquan Shang Xiangxi Wang Linlin Bao Chuan Qin | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,5: | 2
Concentrations of Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers in Maternal Blood,Placental Size, and Risk for Fetal Growth Restriction:A Nested Case-control Study显示文摘Objective To explore the effects of prenatal exposure to polybrominated diphenyl ethers(PBDEs)on placental size and birth outcomes. Methods Based on the perspective Wenzhou Birth Cohort, this nested case-control study included 101 fetal growth restriction(FGR)and 101 healthy newborns.Maternal serum samples were collected during the third trimester and measured for PBDEs by gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. The basic information of mother-newborn pairs was collected from questionnaires, whereas the placental size and birth outcomes of newborns were obtained from hospital records. Results A total of 19 brominated diphenyle ether(BDE)congeners were detected in maternal serum samples.Higher concentrations of BDE-207,-208,-209,and∑19PBDEs were detected in FGR cases than in controls.Increased BDE-207,-208,-209,and∑19PBDEs levels in maternal serum were related to decreased placental length, breadth, surface area, birth weight, birth length, gestational age,and Quetelet index of newborns. After adjusting for confounders,BDE-207 and∑19PBDE concentrations in maternal serum were significantly associated with an increased risk of FGR.Conclusion A negative association was found between PBDE levels in maternal serum and placental size and birth outcomes.Prenatal PBDE exposure may be associated with elevated risk of the incidence of FGR birth. | JIN Yu Ting DENG Xiao Kai ZHAO Ying Ya LI Jia Lin SONG Qi ZHANG Yun Hui YANG Qing CHEN Shang Qin | 2020 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,11: | 1

Metabolic Disorders Combined with Noninvasive Tests to Screen Advanced Fibrosis in Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease显示文摘Background and Aims:Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is associated with metabolic disorders. This study aimed to explore the role of metabolic disorders in screening advanced fibrosis in NAFLD patients. Methods:A total of 246 histologically-proven NAFLD patients were enrolled across 14 centers. We compared the severity of fibrosis in patients with different components of metabolic disorders.Based on standard noninvasive tests and metabolic disorders,we developed new algorithms to identify advanced fibrosis. Results:Metabolic syndrome(MetS)was frequent in NAFLD patients(133/246,54%).Patients with MetS had a higher proportion of significant fibrosis(p=0.014)and higher LSM values(9.2 kPa,vs.7.4 kPa,p=0.002)than those without MetS.Patients with more metabolic disorders had higher fibrosis stages(p=0.017).Reduced highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol(odds ratio[OR]:2.241,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.004–5.002,p=0.049)and raised fasting glucose(OR:4.500,95%CI:2.083–9.725,p<0.001)were significantly associated with advanced fibrosis.Using these two metabolic disorders as a screening tool,a sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of 92%,81%and 83%was achieved, respectively. With the new algorithms combining metabolic disorders with noninvasive measurements, the number of patients requiring liver biopsy was reduced, especially in combination with the Fibrosis-4 score and metabolic disorders(36%to 17%,p<0.001).In addition, this stepwise algorithm could achieve a high accuracy(85%)and high negative predictive value(93%).Conclusions:Metabolic disorders should be taken into consideration in the diagnosis of advanced fibrosis. With further validation and investigation, new algorithms could be recommended in primary care units to spare patients from unnecessary referral and liver biopsies. | Yi-Wen Shi Fang-Ping He Jin-Jun Chen Hong Deng Jun-Ping Shi Cai-Yan Zhao Yu-Qiang Mi Zheng-Sheng Zou Yong-Jian Zhou Fu-Sheng Di Rui-Dan Zheng Qin Du Jia Shang Rui-Xu Yang Branko Popovic Bi-Hui Zhong Jian-Gao Fan | 2021 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2021,9,5: | 0
Indoor Air Pollution and Pulmonary Function in Children显示文摘Pulmonary function in winter time in 1,343 school children aged 10-13 years was measured in four cities locatd in northern and southern part of China. The results showed that FVC,FEV1,PEF,V75,V50and V25 in children living in homes with coal stoves were decreased by 1.5-10.7% compared with children linving in homes with gas or LPG stoves in Chengde and Shanghai. In contrast to this,no significant difference in pulmonary function was found in Shenyang and Wuhan,It suggested that this phenomenon was related to indoor air pollution, and partly related to passive smoking or outdoor air pollution. | SHEN SHANKANG, QIN YUHUI, CAO ZHAOJING, SHANG JIANYING, LIUYUNGQING, YANG XU, DENG YONGQING, HUANG JIANG, FUZHENYING, AND SONG XIANGDONGInstitute of Prevention and Treatment for Occupational Disease, Hubei Institute ofEnvironmental Health Monitoring, Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, Beijing Chengde Municipal Sanitation and Anti-epidemic Station, Hebei ShenyangMunicipal Sanitation and Anti-epidemic Station, Liaoning ' WuhanMunicipal Sanitation and Anti-epidemic Station, Hubei ShanghaiMunicipal Sanitation and Anti-epidemic Station, Shanghai, China | 1992 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences1992,5,2: | 0
Soil microbiome mediated nutrients decline during forest degradation process显示文摘Degradation succession in forests is an important and serious land use/cover change problem in ecology, and during these processes soil microbial communities mediate the recycling of most important nutrients. To reveal the effect of degradation succession processes on soil microbial community diversity, structure, and species interrelationships,we collected abundant samples(21 per vegetation type)in broad-leaved forest, coniferous forest, and meadow to observe the microbial community dynamics. The results showed that diversity and structure of soil prokaryotic and fungal communities responded differently to different forest degradation processes, diversity of soil microbial communities increased during degradation processes.Soil microbial communities abundance changes may indicate that prokaryotic communities showed a living strategies change as an ecological adaption to harsh conditions during forest degradation process. While for fungal communities, their abundance changes may indicate that environmental selection pressure and plant selectivity during forest degradation process.Changes in soil prokaryotic communities and fungal communities were both correlated with soil carbon and nitrogen loss. The soil microbial interaction network analysis indicated more complex species interrelationships formed due to the loss of soil nutrients during degradation succession processes, suggesting soil microbial communities might form more complex and stable networks to resist the external disturbance of soil nutrient loss. All results suggested soil microorganisms, including bacteria, archaea and fungi, all involved in the soil nutrient decline during the forest degradation process. | Yangying Liu Shang Wang Zhujun Wang Zhaojing Zhang Huayu Qin Ziyan Wei Kai Feng Shuzhen Li Yueni Wu Huaqun Yin Hui Li Ye Deng | 2019 | Soil Ecology Letters2019,1,1: | 0
