| 2 | BMP-induced Atoh8 attenuates osteoclastogenesis by suppressing Runx2 transcriptional activity and reducing the Rankl/Opg expression ratio in osteoblasts显示文摘Adult bone structural integrity is maintained by remodeling via the coupling of osteoclastic bone resorption and osteoblastic bone formation.Osteocytes or osteoblasts express receptor activator of nuclear factor k-B ligand(Rankl)or osteoprotegerin(Opg)to promote or inhibit osteoclastogenesis,respectively.Bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)is a potent bone inducer,but its major role in adult bone is to induce osteocytes to upregulate sclerostin(Sost)and increase the Rankl/Opg expression ratio,resulting in promotion of osteoclastogenesis.However,the precise effect of BMP-target gene(s)in osteoblasts on the Rankl/Opg expression ratio remains unclear.In the present study,we identified atonal homolog 8(Atoh8),which is directly upregulated by the BMPSmadl axis in osteoblasts.In vivo,Atoh8 was detected in osteoblasts but not osteocytes in adult mice.Although global Atoh8-knockout mice showed only a mild phenotype in the neonate skeleton,the bone volume was decreased and osteoclasts were increased in the adult phase.Atoh8-null marrow stroma cells were more potent than wild-type cells in inducing osteoclastogenesis in marrow cells.Atoh8 loss in osteoblasts increased Runx2 expression and the Rankl/Opg expression ratio,while Runx2 knockdown normalized the Rankl/Opg expression ratio.Moreover,Atoh8 formed a protein complex with Runx2 to inhibit Runx2 transcriptional activity and decrease the Rankl/Opg expression ratio.These results suggest that bone remodeling is regulated elaborately by BMP signaling;while BMP primarily promotes bone resorption,it simultaneously induces Atoh8 to inhibit Runx2 and reduce the Rankl/Opg expression ratio in osteoblasts,suppressing osteoclastogenesis and preventing excessive BMP-mediated bone resorption. | Yuhei Yahiro Shingo Maeda Masato Morikawa Daizo Koinuma Go Jokoji Toshiro ljuin Setsuro Komiya Ryoichiro Kageyama Kohei Miyazono Noboru Taniguchi | 2020 | Bone Research2020，8，3： | 6 |

| 5 | Can harvest outsourcing services reduce field harvest losses of rice in China?显示文摘The purpose of this study is to quantify the rice harvest losses in China and to evaluate the impacts of machinery and harvest outsourcing services on these losses,given the background of high-speed mechanization and outsourcing services.Data were collected from a national survey conducted in 2016 by the research team in conjunction with the Research Center for the Rural Economy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China.A non-parametric method was used to test whether combine harvesting and outsourcing services could significantly reduce harvest losses.Next,quantile regression was used to estimate the real effects of machinery and outsourcing services on harvest losses.The analysis yielded four main study outcomes.First,the harvest loss rate of rice in China was 3.65%.Second,mechanical reaping and winnowing caused greater losses than manual methods,while the opposite was true of field transportation.Third,combine harvesting increased the losses.Fourth,the effects of an outsourcing service on losses differed among the different harvesting methods.Outsourcing services increased losses in segmented harvesting but they reduced losses in combine harvesting. | QU Xue Daizo KOJIMA Yukinaga NISHIHARA WU La-ping Mitsuyoshi ANDO | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2021，20，5： | 4 |

| 7 | Efficacy of long-term rifaximin treatment for hepatic encephalopathy in the Japanese显示文摘BACKGROUND Hepatic encephalopathy(HE)is a complication of liver cirrhosis and can result in neuropsychological and neuromuscular dysfunctions in patients.Rifaximin,an antibiotic,has been reported to decrease the occurrence of overt HE and also improve cognitive function in studies from Europe and the United States of America.There is not enough evidence of the relationship between the long-term use of rifaximin and its clinical effects in the Japanese.AIM To determine the clinical effects of long-term rifaximin therapy in decompensated liver cirrhosis patients,with overt HE or hyperammonemia.METHODS In this single-center retrospective observational cohort study,we reviewed the data of 38 patients who had taken rifaximin at the dose of 1200 mg/d for more than 24 wk.The primary outcome measured was the efficacy of long-term rifaximin use,and secondary outcome measured was the safety of its long-term use as determined by its influence on portosystemic shunts as well as Escherichia coli-related infections.Moreover,we compared the prognosis between the rifaximin group and control cases,matched for hepatic elasticity assessed by magnetic resonance ela-stography,age,and Child-Pugh classification.RESULTS Of the 38 patients included in the study,12(31.6%)had overt HE,27(71.1%)had complications of esophageal varices,and 9(23.7%)had hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).The control group was matched for age,Child-Pugh classification,liver stiffness,and presence of HCC.The median of serum ammonia level before treatment was 104μg/dL(59-297),and 2 wk after treatment,it significantly decreased to 85μg/dL(34-153)(P=0.002).A significantly low value of 80.5μg/dL(44-150)was maintained 24 wk after treatment.The long-term use of rifaximin did not cause a decline in liver function.Diarrhea occurred in 2 patients,who improved with the administration of probiotics,and there were no cases of aborted rifaximin therapy owing to adverse events.In patients with Child C,the survival was short,but there was no significant difference compared with that of the control group.CONCLUSION Rifaximin therapy improves overt HE.The long-term use of rifaximin in the Japanese is effective and safe. | Shinya Nishida Koichi Hamada Noriyuki Nishino Daizo Fukushima Ryota Koyanagi Yoshinori Horikawa Yoshiki Shiwa Satoshi Saitoh | 2019 | World Journal of Hepatology2019，11，6： | 3 |
