1Impending HRT wave precursors to the Wenchuan M_s8.0 earthquake and methods of earthquake impending prediction by using HRT wave显示文摘We deployed four geo-electric monitoring stations in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces from 2004, using the new generation of equipment (PS-100) and technologies to capture the HRT wave earthquake precursor. Before the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake, we recorded the HRT wave precursor at the only operating station in Hongge (HG, Δ=465 km) and found that significant impending signal had been recorded at the station in the early morning ( 0―5 am) of 12th of May, 2008. The precursor for this earthquake is consistent with precursors recorded for other strong earthquakes. The measured physical properties (geo-resistivity and telluric-current) show tidal wave period oscillations from several days to several months before the earthquakes and the amplitude of such HT oscillation increases significantly towards the occurrence of an earthquake. These HT and RT waves from the epicenter have a causal relationship with the earthquakes that happened several days later. The arrival time of two RT waves is proportional to the distance from the station to the epicenter. The estimated natural decay of the amplitude is correlated with the natural period (T0) of the earthquake fault, which is proportional to the fault length. From this relationship, we can predict the earthquake magnitude. For magnitude 6―9 earthquakes, the natural period is about 1―6 hours. Such oscillation comes from the epicenter area and they can propagate several thousand kilometers in the Earth's crust. Before a strong earthquake in the shallow crust, the conductive pore fluid will experience major changes before the fault rapture. Such fluid change will emit an oscillation in the pore fluid pressure. This is the mechanism for the HRT wave generation. Since the China Earthquake Administration funded the HRT wave short-term earth-quake prediction project in 2003, the first record of HRT precursor wave has been recorded from the 2004-12-26 Sumatra Mw9.0 earthquake with the largest epicentre distance Δ=2900 km. Thereafter, we have captured HRT waves from more than twenty strong earthquakes, which are well-matched and show repeatability, consistency and regularity. All our observation with the HRT waves demonstrate that HRT wave precursors to earthquakes indeed exist. Strong earthquakes can be predicted and short-term and impending earthquake prediction is achievable in the very near future. 4ScQ cloud quantum computation for generating Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states of up to 10 qubits显示文摘In this study, we introduce an online public quantum computation platform, named as ScQ, based on a 1D array of a 10-qubit superconducting processor. Single-qubit rotation gates can be performed on each qubit. Controlled-NOT gates between nearest-neighbor sites on the 1D array of 10 qubits are available. We show the online preparation and verification of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states of up to 10 qubits through this platform for all possible blocks of qubits in the chain. The graphical user interface and quantum assembly language methods are presented to achieve the above tasks, which rely on a parameter scanning feature implemented on ScQ. 5Superconductivity and normal state magnetoresistance in superconducting FeSe:Sb显示文摘We prepared a series of β-FeSe samples with a nominal composition of Fe1.11Se1-xSbx(0≤x≤0.5).The X-ray diffraction,transport and magnetic measurements were performed on these samples to investigate the structure,the superconducting properties and the normal state transport and magnetic properties.Although the X-ray diffraction data suggested that Sb atoms were not incorporated into the β-FeSe phase,the transport data showed observable changes of superconductivity,normal state resistivity and magnetoresistance.This was represented by the increase in the superconducting transition temperature and the upper critical field.Also,for the samples with a low level of Sb content,a clear decrease of the normal state resistivity and a substantial increase of the residual resistance ratio were observed.Furthermore,the samples showed a significant increase of the normal state magnetoresistance that appeared not to follow the Kohler's rule.The results were discussed in the frame of reduction of excess Fe at interstitial sites of β-FeSe.CHU HaiFeng LI Jie LI Shao ZHANG Yu WANG Ning WANG Jia GAO YanLi DENG Hui SUN XiaoSong ZHENG DongNing 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,7:0
6Quality evaluation of lightweight cellular concrete by an ultrasound-based method显示文摘The accuracy of subgrade quality evaluation is important for road safety assessment.Since there is little research work devoted to testing lightweight cellular concrete(LCC)by an ultrasound-based method,the quantitative relation between ultrasonic testing results and the quality of LCC subgrade is not well understood.In this paper,the quality of LCC subgrade was evaluated with respect to compressive strength and crack discrimination.The relation between ultrasonic testing results and LCC quality was explored through indoor tests.Based on the quantitative relation between ultrasonic pulse velocity and compressive strength of LCC,a fitting formula was established.Moreover,after the LCC became cracked,the ultrasonic pulse velocity and ultrasonic pulse amplitude decreased.After determining the lower limiting values of the ultrasonic pulse velocity and ultrasonic pulse amplitude through the statistical data,it could be calculated whether there were cracks in LCC subgrade.The ultrasonic testing results showed that the compressive strength of the LCC subgrade was suitable for purpose and there was no crack in the subgrade.Then core samples were taken from the subgrade.Comparisons between ultrasonic testing results of subgrade and test results of core samples demonstrated a good agreement.Xin LIU Dongning SUN Jinhe LIAO Zhiwei SHAO Yunqiang SHI Siqing ZHANG Yunlong YAO Baoning HONG 2022Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2022,16,9:0
7Numerically investigating the crushing of sandstone by a tooth hob显示文摘To investigate the mechanical process that occurs between rocks and tooth hobs,the crushing of sandstone with a tooth hob was simulated using reconstructed multi-mineral mesoscopic numerical models of various grain-sized sandstone samples.When a piece of sandstone is crushed by the tooth of a hob rolling at a constant speed,the resultant reaction forces of the sandstone on the tooth first hinder and then contribute to the rolling of the hob.The absolute value of the longitudinal reaction force is significantly higher than that of the lateral reaction force.Because the tooth was subjected to reaction forces from the sandstone,forces and moments were applied to the hob in order to keep the hob rolling.The applied forces were equal in value and opposite in direction to the reaction forces of the sandstone on the tooth.Three typical curves of the work done by the applied forces and moment were obtained,and the contribution of the applied lateral force and moment to the total work done for crushing sandstones was variable;however,no work was done by the applied longitudinal force.Moreover,the applied longitudinal force and total work were positively correlated with the strength of sandstone samples.The total work,applied forces,and moment increased with the maximum penetration depth of the tooth in the sandstone.Dongning SUN Baoning HONG Xin LIU Ke SHENG Guisen WANG Zhiwei SHAO Yunlong YAO 2023Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2023,17,6:0
