1Molecular chaperones and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy显示文摘Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE) is a disease that occurs when the brain is subjected to hypoxia,resulting in neuronal death and neurological deficits,with a poor prognosis.The mechanisms underlying hypoxic-ischemic brain injury include excitatory amino acid release,cellular proteolysis,reactive oxygen species generation,nitric oxide synthesis,and inflammation.The molecular and cellular changes in HIE include protein misfolding,aggregation,and destruction of organelles.The apoptotic pathways activated by ischemia and hypoxia include the mitochondrial pathway,the extrinsic Fas receptor pathway,and the endoplasmic reticulum stress-induced pathway.Numerous treatments for hypoxic-ischemic brain injury caused by HIE have been developed over the last half century.Hypothermia,xenon gas treatment,the use of melatonin and erythropoietin,and hypoxic-ischemic preconditioning have proven effective in HIE patients.Molecular chaperones are proteins ubiquitously present in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes.A large number of molecular chaperones are induced after brain ischemia and hypoxia,among which the heat shock proteins are the most important.Heat shock proteins not only maintain protein homeostasis; they also exert anti-apoptotic effects.Heat shock proteins maintain protein homeostasis by helping to transport proteins to their target destinations,assisting in the proper folding of newly synthesized polypeptides,regulating the degradation of misfolded proteins,inhibiting the aggregation of proteins,and by controlling the refolding of misfolded proteins.In addition,heat shock proteins exert anti-apoptotic effects by interacting with various signaling pathways to block the activation of downstream effectors in numerous apoptotic pathways,including the intrinsic pathway,the endoplasmic reticulum-stress mediated pathway and the extrinsic Fas receptor pathway.Molecular chaperones play a key role in neuroprotection in HIE.In this review,we provide an overview of the mechanisms of HIE and discuss the various treatment strategies.Given their critical role in the disease,molecular chaperones are promising therapeutic targets for HIE.Cong Hua Wei-na Ju Hang Jin Xin Sun Gang Zhao 2017Neural Regeneration Research2017,12,1:15
2High-security-level multi-dimensional optical storage medium:nanostructured glass embedded with LiGa_(5)O_(8):Mn^(2+) with photostimulated luminescence显示文摘The launch of the big data era puts forward challenges for information preservation technology,both in storage capacity and security.Herein,a brand new optical storage medium,transparent glass ceramic(TGC)embedded with photostimulated LiGa5O8:Mn2+nanocrystals,capable of achieving bit-by-bit optical data write-in and read-out in a photon trapping/detrapping mode,is developed.The highly ordered nanostructure enables light–matter interaction with high encoding/decoding resolution and low bit error rate.Importantly,going beyond traditional 2D optical storage,the high transparency of the studied bulk medium makes 3D volumetric optical data storage(ODS)possible,which brings about the merits of expanded storage capacity and improved information security.Demonstration application confirmed the erasable-rewritable 3D storage of binary data and display items in TGC with intensity/wavelength multiplexing.The present work highlights a great leap in photostimulated material for ODS application and hopefully stimulates the development of new multi-dimensional ODS media.Shisheng Lin Hang Lin Chonggeng Ma Yao Cheng Sizhe Ye Fulin Lin Renfu Li Ju Xu Yuansheng Wang 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:12
3Impending HRT wave precursors to the Wenchuan M_s8.0 earthquake and methods of earthquake impending prediction by using HRT wave显示文摘We deployed four geo-electric monitoring stations in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces from 2004, using the new generation of equipment (PS-100) and technologies to capture the HRT wave earthquake precursor. Before the Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake, we recorded the HRT wave precursor at the only operating station in Hongge (HG, Δ=465 km) and found that significant impending signal had been recorded at the station in the early morning ( 0―5 am) of 12th of May, 2008. The precursor for this earthquake is consistent with precursors recorded for other strong earthquakes. The measured physical properties (geo-resistivity and telluric-current) show tidal wave period oscillations from several days to several months before the earthquakes and the amplitude of such HT oscillation increases significantly towards the occurrence of an earthquake. These HT and RT waves from the epicenter have a causal relationship with the earthquakes that happened several days later. The arrival time of two RT waves is proportional to the distance from the station to the epicenter. The estimated natural decay of the amplitude is correlated with the natural period (T0) of the earthquake fault, which is proportional to the fault length. From this relationship, we can predict the earthquake magnitude. For magnitude 6―9 earthquakes, the natural period is about 1―6 hours. Such oscillation comes from the epicenter area and they can propagate several thousand kilometers in the Earth's crust. Before a strong earthquake in the shallow crust, the conductive pore fluid will experience major changes before the fault rapture. Such fluid change will emit an oscillation in the pore fluid pressure. This is the mechanism for the HRT wave generation. Since the China Earthquake Administration funded the HRT wave short-term earth-quake prediction project in 2003, the first record of HRT precursor wave has been recorded from the 2004-12-26 Sumatra Mw9.0 earthquake with the largest epicentre distance Δ=2900 km. Thereafter, we have captured HRT waves from more than twenty strong earthquakes, which are well-matched and show repeatability, consistency and regularity. All our observation with the HRT waves demonstrate that HRT wave precursors to earthquakes indeed exist. Strong earthquakes can be predicted and short-term and impending earthquake prediction is achievable in the very near future. 4Stress-induced CsPbBr3 nanocrystallization on glass surface:Unexpected mechanoluminescence and applications显示文摘In this work,we discovered an unexpected mechanoluminescence (ML) phenomena occurring when transforming amorphous into crystalline,due to the stress-induced precipitation of CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals on glass surface.It is revealed that,unlike the conventional thermal-induced phase transformation mechanism,the breakage of bonding of glass network provides the energy for nucleation and growth,and the shear stress avoids the long-range migration of structural units for crystallization.Such unique ML phenomenon enables the visualization of dynamical force that is inaccessible by common strategy,and so,opens up some novel applications,such as the pressure-sensitive 'glassy pencil' to learn people's writing habits,and the pb^2+-detection with good sensitivity and selectivity.These findings not only demonstrate an effective route for the preparation of perovskite materials in a green,time-saving,low cost,and scalable way,enrich the knowledge of glass crystallization mechanism,but also exploit a useful avenue to quantitatively visualize the dynamical force.Xiaoqiang Xiang Hang Lin Renfu Li Yao Cheng Qingming Huang Ju Xu Congyong Wang Xueyuan Chen Yuansheng Wang 2019Nano Research2019,12,5:8
5Abscisic acid signaling negatively regulates nitrate uptake via phosphorylation of NRT1.1 by SnRK2s in Arabidopsis显示文摘Nitrogen(N)is a limiting nutrient for plant growth and productivity.The phytohormone abscisic acid(ABA)has been suggested to play a vital role in nitrate uptake in fluctuating N environments.However,the molecular mechanisms underlying the involvement of ABA in N deficiency responses are largely unknown.In this study,we demonstrated that ABA signaling components,particularly the three subclass Ⅲ SUCROSE NON-FERMENTING1(SNF1)-RELATED PROTEIN KINASE 2 S(SnRK2)proteins,function in root foraging and uptake of nitrate under N deficiency in Arabidopsis thaliana.The snrk2.2 snrk2.3 snrk2.6 triple mutant grew a longer primary root and had a higher rate of nitrate influx and accumulation compared with wild-type plants under nitrate deficiency.Strikingly,SnRK2.2/2.3/2.6 proteins interacted with and phosphorylated the nitrate transceptor NITRATE TRANSPORTER1.1(NRT1.1)in vitro and in vivo.The phosphorylation of NRT1.1 by SnRK2 s resulted in a significant decrease of nitrate uptake and impairment of root growth.Moreover,we identified NRT1.1Ser585 as a previously unknown functional site:the phosphomimetic NRT1.1S585 D was impaired in both low-and high-affinity transport activities.Taken together,our findings provide new insight into how plants fine-tune growth via ABA signaling under N deficiency.Hang Su Tian Wang Chuanfeng Ju Jinping Deng Tianqi Zhang Mengjiao Li Hui Tian Cun Wang 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,3:4
6Feature-aligned segmentation using correlation clustering显示文摘We present an algorithm for segmenting a mesh into patches whose boundaries are aligned with prominent ridge and valley lines of the shape. Our key insight is that this problem can be formulated as correlation clustering(CC), a graph partitioning problem originating from the data mining community.The formulation lends two unique advantages to our method over existing segmentation methods. First,since CC is non-parametric, our method has few parameters to tune. Second, as CC is governed by edge weights in the graph, our method offers users direct and local control over the segmentation result. Our technical contributions include the construction of the weighted graph on which CC is defined, a strategy for rapidly computing CC on this graph, and an interactive tool for editing the segmentation. 8Boosting single-band red upconversion luminescence in colloidal NaErF_4 nanocrystals:Effects of doping and inert shell显示文摘Single-band red upconversion luminescence(UCL) is vital to in vivo bioimaging as well as 'see and treat' biomedicines. Herein, starting with the previously reported β-NaErF4:Tm UCNPs, we examined the effects of both Yb^(3+) doping and inert shell coating on the red-to-green(R/G) ratio for Er3+ based UCL. The doping of Yb^(3+) into the β-NaErF4:Tm3+ core not only enhances the whole UCL intensity, but also raises the R/G ratio by 1.25 times. In addition, the coating of an inert NaYF4 shell, which is usually adopted for the enhancement of UCL intensity, further boosts the R/G value up to as high as 77.92. 17Patterned glass ceramic design for high-brightness high-color-quality laser-driven lightings显示文摘Up-to-date laser-driven lightings confront a challenge of simultaneously achieving good photometric and chromatic performances.Herein,the coupling of“patterned package design”and“phosphor wheel”was proposed and demonstrated effectively to deal with this tough issue,based on a new architecture of CaAlSiN3:Eu2+(CASN:Eu)glass ceramic film(GCF)on Y_(3)Al_(5)O_(12):Ce^(3+)(YAG:Ce)GC plate.The fabricated composite has no interface between the two functional layers and retains the admirable luminescent features from CASN:Eu and YAG:Ce for the microstructural integrity during co-sintering.The studies on laser-microcrystalline interactions reveal that the luminescence saturation is almost determined by thermal quenching for YAG:Ce,but is ascribed to thermal/intensity quenching which are equally crucial for CASN:Eu.Benefiting from the elaborate architecture design,good color chromaticity tunability was obtained,and severe photon reabsorption was reduced.Moreover,accompanied with the rotation induced increase of thermal convection to air and pulse-like excitation,the constructed lighting engine under blue laser driven shows bright white light with luminous flux(LF)higher than 1000 lm,adjustable chromaticity from cool to warm,and improved color rendering index(CRI)approaching to 70.Qiugui HUANG Hang LIN Bo WANG Shisheng LIN Pengfei WANG Ping SUI Ju XU Yao CHENG Yuansheng WANG 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,6:1
