| 2 | Radical vs conservative surgery for hydatid liver cysts:Experience from single center显示文摘AIM:To compare the efficacy and safety of radical and conservative surgical interventions for liver hydatid disease.METHODS:The study comprised 59 patients in two groups who had undergone radical and conservative surgical procedures for liver hydatid disease in our department between 2004 and 2009. Preoperative diagnostic tools,medical treatments,demographic and clinical characteristics,postoperative follow-up,and recurrence were compared in both groups. RESULTS:This non-randomized retrospective studyincluded 59 patients who had undergone liver hydatid disease surgery. The radical technique was used in 18 patients (mean age:42.1 ± 13.5 years,seven male,11 female),and the conservative technique was used in 41 patients (mean age:43.5 ± 13.9 years,17 male,24 female). The follow-up period ranged from 3 to 58 mo. Although operative time was significantly shorter in the conservative group (P < 0.001),recurrence was significantly reduced in the radical group (P = 0.045). No statistically significant differences were found in terms of hospitalization duration,cyst count and size,location,postoperative complications,scolicidal solution usage,or follow-up duration between the two groups.CONCLUSION:The more effective method for pre-venting postoperative recurrence is radical surgery. | 3 | Periodontopathogen profile of healthy and oral lichen planus patients with gingivitis or periodontitis显示文摘Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory disease that is frequently detected in oral tissues. The aim of our study was to identify the prevalence of the detection of periodontopathogenic microorganisms (Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Tannerella forsythia and Treponema denticola in OLP patients and to compare with this prevalence of periodontopathogenic microorganisms in healthy non-OLP patients. Our study included 27 (18 chronic periodontitis (OLPP) and 9 gingivitis (OLPG)) patients diagnosed with OLP along with 26 (13 chronic periodontitis (HP) and 13 gingivitis (HG)) healthy non-OLP patients. The multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with subsequent reverse hybridization method (micro-IDent) was used for identifying periodontopathogenic microorganisms present in subgingival plaque samples. The percentages of detection for A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, P. intermedia, T. forsythia and T. denticola in subgingival plaque samples taken from OLP patients (OLPG and OLPP) were 18.5%, 85.1%, 81.4%, 88.8% and 74%, respectively. Meanwhile, in the non-OLP patients (HG and HP), these values were 7.6%, 50%, 46.1%, 73% and 57.7%, respectively. Thus, comparing the non-OLP groups with the OLP groups, the periodontopathogens' percentages of detection in the OLP groups were higher than those in the non-OLP groups. According to our study results, OLP patients have higher levels of infection with A. actinomycetemcomitans, P. gingivalis, P. intermedia, T. forsythia and T. denticola than non-OLP patients. | 4 | High-speed colour-converting photodetector with all-inorganic CsPbBr_(3) perovskite nanocrystals for ultraviolet light communication显示文摘Optical wireless communication(OWC)using the ultra-broad spectrum of the visible-to-ultraviolet(UV)wavelength region remains a vital field of research for mitigating the saturated bandwidth of radio-frequency(RF)communication.However,the lack of an efficient UV photodetection methodology hinders the development of UV-based communication.The key technological impediment is related to the low UV-photon absorption in existing silicon photodetectors,which offer low-cost and mature platforms.To address this technology gap,we report a hybrid Sibased photodetection scheme by incorporating CsPbBr_(3) perovskite nanocrystals(NCs)with a high photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY)and a fast photoluminescence(PL)decay time as a UV-to-visible colourconverting layer for high-speed solar-blind UV communication.The facile formation of drop-cast CsPbBr_(3) perovskite NCs leads to a high PLQY of up to ~73% and strong absorption in the UV region.With the addition of the NC layer,a nearly threefold improvement in the responsivity and an increase of ~25% in the external quantum efficiency(EQE)of the solar-blind region compared to a commercial silicon-based photodetector were observed.Moreover,timeresolved photoluminescence measurements demonstrated a decay time of 4.5 ns under a 372-nm UV excitation source,thus elucidating the potential of this layer as a fast colour-converting layer.A high data rate of up to 34 Mbps in solar-blind communication was achieved using the hybrid CsPbBr_(3)-silicon photodetection scheme in conjunction with a 278-nm UVC light-emitting diode(LED).These findings demonstrate the feasibility of an integrated high-speed photoreceiver design of a composition-tuneable perovskite-based phosphor and a low-cost silicon-based photodetector for UV communication. | Chun Hong Kang Ibrahim Dursun Guangyu Liu Lutfan Sinatra Xiaobin Sun Meiwei Kong Jun Pan Partha Maity Ee-Ning Ooi Tien Khee Ng Omar F.Mohammed Osman M.Bakr Boon S.Ooi | 2019 | Light(Science & Applications)2019，8，1： | 14 |
| 5 | Comparison of the effects of bevacizumab and ranibizumab injection on corneal angiogenesis in an alkali burn induced model显示文摘·AIM:To investigate the effects of bevacizumab and ranibizumab on corneal neovascularization in an alkali burn-induced model of corneal angiogenesis. ·METHODS:Fifteen Wistar-Albino rats were divided randomly into 3 groups after chemical cauterization of the cornea. The first group received a single dose of 0.1mL saline solution as a control group whereas second and third groups received a single dose of 2.5mg bevacizumab or 1mg ranibizumab by subconjunctival injection, respectively. After three weeks, the rat corneas were evaluated by biomicroscopy and corneal photographs were taken. The percentage of neovascularization area, length of the longest new vessel, corneal oedema and corneal opacity scores were assessed. ·RESULTS:The analysis of digital photographs showed that the percentage of neovascularization area to the total corneal area, the length of the longest new vessel, corneal oedema and opacity scores were significantly lower in both study groups compared to the control group (P <0.05). Additionally, the percentage of corneal neovascularization area, the length of the longest new vessel and corneal opacity score were less with bevacizumab than ranibizumab. ·CONCLUSION:Subconjunctival bevacizumab and ranibizumab treatments may be effective methods in reducing corneal neovascularization. | 6 | Is there an association between Helicobacter pylori in the inlet patch and globus sensation?显示文摘AIM:To determine the association between Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori)and globus sensation(GS)in the patients with cervical inlet patch. METHODS:Sixty-eight patients with esophageal inlet patches were identified from 6760 consecutive patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy prospectively.In these 68 patients with cervical inlet patches, symptoms of globus sensation(lump in the throat), hoarseness,sore throat,frequent clearing of the throat,cough,dysphagia,odynophagia of at least 3 mo duration was questioned prior to endoscopy. RESULTS:Cervical heterotopic gastric mucosa(CHGM) was found in 68 of 6760 patients.The endoscopic prevalence of CHGM was determined to be 1%.H.pylori was identified in 16(23.5%)of 68 patients with inlet patch.53 patients were classified as CHGMⅡ.This group included 48 patients with globus sensation,4 patients with chronic cough and 1 patient with hoarseness.All the patients who were H.pylori(+)in cervical inlet patches had globus sensation.CONCLUSION:Often patients with CHGM have a long history of troublesome throat symptoms.We speculate that disturbances in globus sensation are like non-ulcer dyspepsia. | Hakan Alagozlu Zahide Simsek Selahattin Unal Mehmet Cindoruk Sukru Dumlu Ayse Dursun | 2010 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2010，16，1： | 8 |
| 7 | Microstructure, mechanical properties and formability of friction stir welded dissimilar materials of IF-steel and 6061 Al alloy显示文摘AA 6061 alloy and interstitial-free(IF)steel plates were joined by the friction stir welding(FSW)method,and the microstructure,mechanical properties,and biaxial stretch formability of the friction stir welded(FSWed)parts were investigated.The results indicate that the FSWed parts showed optimum tensile strength during FSW with the 0.4-mm offset position of the tool.The Fe4Al13 intermetallic compound formed in the defect-free intersection of AA 6061 and IF-steel plates during FSW.The hardness of the IF-steel part of the FSWed region increased almost 90%relative to its initial hardness of HV0.2 105.The tensile and yield strengths of FSWed regions were approximately 170 MPa and 145 MPa,respectively.According to the formability tests,the Erichsen Index(EI)of the IF-steel,AA 6061,and the FSWed samples were determined to be 2.9 mm,1.9 mm,and 2.1 mm,respectively.The EI of the FSWed sample was almost the same as that of the AA 6061 alloy.However,it decreased compared with that of the IF-steel.The force at EI(FEI)was approximately 1180 N for the FSWed condition.This value is approximately 70%higher than that of AA 6061 alloy. | Semih Mahmut Aktarer Dursun Murat Sekban Tevfik Kucukomeroglu Gencaga Purcek | 2019 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2019，26，6： | 7 |
| 8 | Adsorption Behavior and Inhibition Corrosion Effect of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose on Mild Steel in Acidic Medium显示文摘The effect of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na-CMC) on the corrosion behavior of mild steel in 1.0 mol·L-1 HCl solution has been investigated by using weight loss (WL) measurement, potentiodynamic polarization, linear polarization resistance (LPR), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. These results showed that the inhibition efficiency of Na-CMC increased with increasing the inhibitor concentration. Potentiodynamic polarization studies revealed that the Na-CMC was a mixed type inhibitor in 1.0 mol·L-1 HCl. The adsorption of the inhibitor on mild steel surface has been found to obey the Langmuir isotherm. The effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of mild steel in 1.0 mol·L-1 HCl with addition of 0.04% of Na-CMC has been studied in the temperature range of 298-328 K. The associated apparent activation energy (E*a ) of corrosion reaction has been determined. | 9 | Effects of the myeloperoxidase 463 gene polymorphisms on development of atrophy in H pylori infected or noninfected gastroduodenal disease显示文摘AIM: To investigate the relationship between myelo- peroxidase polymorphisms as a host-related factor and atrophy caused by H pylori. METHODS: Our study enrolled 77 patients. Biopsy materials obtained during gastrointestinal endoscopies were evaluated for the presence of H pylori. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism assay was used to characterize myeloperoxidase genotypes. RESULTS: Forty four patients (57.1%) were Hp (+) and 33 (42.9%) were Hp (-). Sixty six (85.7%) had GG genotype, 10 (12.9%) had GA genotype and 1 (1.29%) had AA genotype. The change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration was significant in Hp (+) patients (P = 0.0001). The change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration in patients with GG genotype was significant (P = 0.002). However, the change in atrophy in relation to neutrophil infiltration was not significiant in patients with Hp (+) GG genotype (r = 0.066, P = 0.63). CONCLUSION: Myeloperoxidase genotype is critical for development of atrophy in relation to the severity of inflammation. Although surgical resection is often technically feasible, optimal therapy for colorectal lymphoma has not yet been identified.We report a case of primary rectal lymphoma (nonHodgkin's large cell lymphoma of type B) with high-grade features that disappeared completely after chemoradiotherapy. | 13 | Application of grey relational analysis based on Taguchi method for optimizing machining parameters in hard turning of high chrome cast iron显示文摘High chrome white cast iron is particularly preferred in the production of machine parts requiring high wear resistance. Although the amount of chrome in these materials provides high wear and corrosion resistances, it makes their machinability difficult. This study presents an application of the grey relational analysis based on the Taguchi method in order to optimize chrome ratio, cutting speed, feed rate, and cutting depth for the resultant cutting force (Fr) and surface roughness (Ra) when hard turning high chrome cast iron with a cubic boron nitride (CBN) insert. The effect levels of machining parameters on Fr and Ra were examined by an analysis of variance (ANOVA). A grey relational grade (GRG) was calculated to simultaneously minimize Fr and Ra. The ANOVA results based on GRG indicated that the feed rate, followed by the cutting depth, was the main parameter and contributed to respo ses. Optimal levels of parameters were found when the chrome ratio, cutting speed, feed rate, and cutting depth were 12%, 100m/min, 0.05mm/r, and 0.1mm, respectively, based on the multiresponse optimization results obtained by considering the maximum signal to noise (SIN) ratio of GRG. It is believed that endothelial dysfunction starts in the early stage of kidney disease and is a risk factor of an unfavorable cardiovascular prognosis. Because a direct assessment of biological states in endothelial cells is not applicable, the measurement of endothelial microparticles(EMPs) detached from endothelium during activation or apoptosis is thought to be a marker of early vascular disease and endothelial dysfunction in children with chronic kidney disease(CKD). Few studies have shown increased circulating EMPs and its relationship with cardiovascular risk factors in patients with CKD.MPs contain membrane proteins and cytosolic material derived from the cell from which they originate. | 16 | A review on the gun barrel vibrations and control for a main battle tank显示文摘Achieving high hitting accuracy for a main battle tank is challenging while the tank is on the move. This can be reached by proper design of a weapon control and gun system. In order to design an effective gun system while the tank is moving, better understanding of the dynamic behavior of the gun system is required. In this study, the dynamic behaviour of a gun system is discussed in this respect. Both experimental and numerical applications for the determination of the dynamic behaviour of a tank gun system are investigated. Methods such as the use of muzzle reference system(MRS) and vibration absorbers, and active vibration control technology for the control and the reduction of the muzzle tip deflections are also reviewed. | 17 | Total oxidative stress, paraoxonase and arylesterase levels at patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma显示文摘AIM: To investigate the oxidative stress status of the aqueous humor and serum of patients with pseudoexfoliation(PEX) syndrome and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma(PEG) and to measure paraoxonase(PON) and arylesterase(ARE) levels.·METHODS: A total of 78 patients were enrolled in the study, with 26 patients in each separate group. The patients were divided into three groups: the first group entailed PEX syndrome patients, while the second group consisted of patients with PEG and the third group involved patients with no additional systemic diseases,other than the diagnosis of cataract as control. Total oxidative stress(TOS), total antioxidant capacity(TAC),PON, and ARE levels in aqueous humor and serum were measured.·RESULTS: TAC, PON and arylesterase levels in aqueous humor and serum of the PEX syndrome and PEG patients were significantly decreased compared with control group(P <0.05). TOS values were higher in patients with PEX syndrome and PEG than controls(P <0.05). TAC, PON and ARE levels of aqueous humor did not differ significantly between the PEX syndrome and PEG groups·CONCLUSION: These findings are potentially of significance and add to the growing body of evidence for oxidative stress in PEX syndrome and PEG.
