| 8 | In vitro screening of 1-aryl-6-hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinolines: structure related activity against pathogenic bacteria显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the antibacterial activity of ten synthetic tetrahydroisoquinolines against eight bacterial strains. Methods: The ten tetrahydroisoquinolines synthesized via base-catalyzed Pictet-Spengler cyclization were screened against a total of eight bacterial strains comprising control and pathogenic strains by the disc diffusion and micro-dilution methods. The most active compound was then assessed for cytotoxicity on human lymphocytes. Results: Six of the tetrahydroisoquinolines showed broad spectrum bacteriostatic activity. The zones of inhibition produced ranged from 7 to 23 mm for 200 μg per disc. The presence of a lipophilic substituent at the para position of the pendant phenyl group conferred the highest antibacterial activity. Compound 2 [1-(3,4-chlorophenyl)-6-hydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline] was the most active and produced zones ranging from 9 to 20 mm against all eight bacterial strains. Compound 2 also showed the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration of 100 μg/mL against Escherichia coli ATCC11775 and the lowest minimum bactericidal concentration of 800 μg/mL against pathogenic Salmonella typhimurium. Overall, compound 2 was the most active with bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity against three and four bacterial strains respectively. A 50% cytotoxic concentration of 98.2 μg/mL was recorded for compound 2 indicating a low risk of toxicity. | 9 | Improvement of a Snow Albedo Parameterization in the Snow–Atmosphere–Soil Transfer Model:Evaluation of Impacts of Aerosol on Seasonal Snow Cover显示文摘The presence of light-absorbing aerosols(LAA) in snow profoundly influence the surface energy balance and water budget.However,most snow-process schemes in land-surface and climate models currently do not take this into consideration.To better represent the snow process and to evaluate the impacts of LAA on snow,this study presents an improved snow albedo parameterization in the Snow–Atmosphere–Soil Transfer(SAST) model,which includes the impacts of LAA on snow.Specifically,the Snow,Ice and Aerosol Radiation(SNICAR) model is incorporated into the SAST model with an LAA mass stratigraphy scheme.The new coupled model is validated against in-situ measurements at the Swamp Angel Study Plot(SASP),Colorado,USA.Results show that the snow albedo and snow depth are better reproduced than those in the original SAST,particularly during the period of snow ablation.Furthermore,the impacts of LAA on snow are estimated in the coupled model through case comparisons of the snowpack,with or without LAA.The LAA particles directly absorb extra solar radiation,which accelerates the growth rate of the snow grain size.Meanwhile,these larger snow particles favor more radiative absorption.The average total radiative forcing of the LAA at the SASP is 47.5Wm^(-2).This extra radiative absorption enhances the snowmelt rate.As a result,the peak runoff time and 'snow all gone' day have shifted 18 and 19.5 days earlier,respectively,which could further impose substantial impacts on the hydrologic cycle and atmospheric processes. | efang zhong qian li shufen sun wen chen shangfeng chen debashis nath | 2017 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2017,34,11: | 0 |
