| 1 | Stable isotopic analysis on sus bones from the Wanfabozi site, Tonghua, Jilin显示文摘In order to study the sus diets and explore the possibility to distinguish domestic pig from wild boar through dietary analysis, stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes of 28 pig bones from archaeological site of Wanfabozi in Tonghua City, Jilin Province were analyzed. The δ 13C and δ 15N values of uncontaminated bones show that the overall pigs in the site were generally herbivores and ate mainly C3 plants. Significant difference of δ15N values was observed between wild boar and domestic pigs, which may result from the higher consumption of animal protein in domestic pigs other than from that in wild boar, possibly from human leftover or waste,. | 2 | Functional response of the fungus Hirsutella rhossiliensis to the nematode, Heterodera glycines显示文摘Functional response is a key index in determining the population fluctuation in predation. However, the lack of operable research system limits the studies on functional response of fungal predators. Hirsutella rhossiliensis is a dominant parasite of the soybean cyst nematode, Heterodera glycines. In a soil microcosm bioassay, we determined fungal biomass at different days within 21 days after inoculation, and parasitism rate of H. glycines by the fungus was determined. The functional response of H. rhossiliensis to H. glycines was established and found to be Holling's type III, which was influenced by mycelial densities. Meanwhile, we conducted anti-fungal analysis of metabolic fractions extracted from H. rhossiliensis to explain the potential mechanism of the intraspecific competition illustrated by functional response. The result of anti-fungal experiments indicated that the fungal predators had more complicated interaction at population level than expected, which might be regulated by self-inhibition metabolite(s). This study was the first functional response study of fungal predators in microcosm. | 3 | DEBKS:A Tool to Detect Differentially Expressed Circular RNAs显示文摘Circular RNAs(circRNAs)are involved in various biological processes and disease pathogenesis.However,only a small number of functional circRNAs have been identified among hundreds of thousands of circRNA species,partly because most current methods are based on circular junction counts and overlook the fact that a circRNA is formed from the host gene by backsplicing(BS).To distinguish the expression difference originating from BS or the host gene,we present differentially expressed back-splicing(DEBKS),a software program to streamline the discovery of differential BS events between two rRNA-depleted RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)sample groups.By applying to real and simulated data and employing RT-qPCR for validation,we demonstrate that DEBKS is efficient and accurate in detecting circRNAs with differential BS events between paired and unpaired sample groups.DEBKS is available at http://gffzz188fe103f8f1460asxx6wu9upqx0665un.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/yangence/DEBKS as open-source software. | Zelin Liu Huiru Ding Jianqi She Chunhua Chen Weiguang Zhang Ence Yang | 2022 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2022,20,3: | 0 |
| 4 | The role of CopG mediated DNA bending on the regulation of the σ^(54)-dependent promoters in E. coli显示文摘In order to investigate the role of DNA bending on the regulation of σ54-dependent promot- ers, we introduced the CopG binding site between the enhancer-like element and the core promoter of glnAp2, nifLp and glnHp2, without changing the dis- tance in between. The expression activities of these homologous promoters were either activated or re- pressed by the CopG-induced DNA bending in E. coli. In this case, similar regulatory pattern (either acti- vated or repressed) could be observed, when the bending centers from CopG are in integral DNA he- lixes interval, while opposite regulatory pattern could be observed, when the bending centers from CopG are in integral plus a half DNA helixes interval.
