| 1 | Soil total organic carbon/total nitrogen ratio as a key driver deterministically shapes diazotrophic community assemblages during the succession of biological soil crusts显示文摘The diazotrophic community in biological soil crusts(biocrusts)is the key supplier of nitrogen in dryland.To date,there is still limited information on how biocrust development influences the succession of diazotrophic community,and what are the most important factors mediating diazotrophic communities during biocrust succession.Using the high throughput nifH amplicon sequencing,the diazotrophs in soils at different developmental stages of biocrust were comparatively studied.The results evidenced the decreases of TOC/TN ratio and pH value with biocrust development.Nostoc and Scytonema were the most dominant diazotrophic genera at all biocrust stages,while Azospirillum and Bradyrhizobium were abundant only in bare soil.Diazotrophic co-occurrence networks tended to be less complex and less connected with biocrust succession.The soil TOC/TN ratio was the most dominant factor mediating diazotrophic diversity,community composition and assembly processes,while diazotrophic-diversity and NO3–-N/NH4+-N ratio were positively correlated with the nitrogenase activity during biocrust succession.This study provided novel understandings of nitrogen fixation and succession patterns of diazotrophic community,by showing the effects of biocrust succession on diazotrophic diversity,community composition,community assembly and co-occurrence networks,and recognizing TOC/TN ratio as the most dominant factor mediating diazotrophs during biocrust succession. | Lin Xu Bingchang Zhang Entao Wang Bingjian Zhu Minjie Yao Chaonan Li Xiangzhen Li | 2021 | Soil Ecology Letters2021,3,4: | 3 |
| 2 | A Heavy Rainfall Event in Autumn over Beijing--Atmospheric Circulation Background and Hindcast Simulation Using WRF显示文摘Heavy rainfall events often occur in Beijing during summer but rarely in autumn. However,during 3-5 September2015, an exceptionally heavy rainfall event occurred in Beijing. Based on the reanalysis data and the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) model simulations, the main contributing factors and the predictability of this heavy rainfall event were examined through comprehensive analyses of vorticity advection and water vapor transport/budget. The results indicate that a 'high-in-the-east-low-in-the-west' pattern of 500-hPa geopotential height over the Beijing area played an important role. The 850-hPa low-level jet(LLJ) provided a mechanism for rising motion and transported abundant water vapor into the Beijing area. Two-way nested hindcast experiments using WRF well reproduced the atmospheric circulation and LLJ. Quantitative analysis indicates that the WRF model with the rapid update cycle(RUC) land surface scheme and the single-moment 6-class(WSM6) microphysics scheme exhibited the best skill, and the model performance improved with a higher resolution. | 5 | Ebola virus VP35 perturbs type I interferon signaling to facilitate viral replication显示文摘As one of the deadliest viruses,Ebola virus(EBOV)causes lethal hemorrhagic fevers in humans and nonhuman primates.The suppression of innate immunity leads to robust systemic virus replication of EBOV,leading to enhanced transmission.However,the mechanism of EBOV-host interaction is not fully understood.Here,we identified multiple dysregulated genes in early stage of EBOV infection through transcriptomic analysis,which are highly clustered to Jak-STAT signaling.EBOV VP35 and VP30 were found to inhibit type I interferon(IFN)signaling.Moreover,exogenous expression of VP35 blocks the phosphorylation of endogenous STAT1,and suppresses nuclear translocation of STAT1.Using serial truncated mutations of VP35,N-terminal 1–220amino acid residues of VP35 were identified to be essential for blocking on type I IFN signaling.Remarkably,VP35 of EBOV suppresses type I IFN signaling more efficiently than those of Bundibugyo virus(BDBV)and Marburg virus(MARV),resulting in stable replication to facilitate the pathogenesis.Altogether,this study enriches understanding on EBOV evasion of innate immune response,and provides insights into the interplay between filoviruses and host. | Zengguo Cao Chenchen Liu Cheng Peng Yong Ran Yulin Yao Gengfu Xiao Entao Li Zixi Chen Xia Chuai Sandra Chiu | 2023 | Virologica Sinica2023,38,6: | 0 |
| 6 | Major biological events and fossil energy formation: On the development of energy science under the earth system framework显示文摘In geological history, one major life explosion and five mass extinction events occurred. These major biological and environmental events affected the evolution of the Earth ecosystem and controlled the formation of organic-rich strata. The life explosion occurred in Cambrian and the five mass extinction events happened at the end of Ordovician, Late Devonian, end of Permian, end of Triassic, and end of Cretaceous, respectively. They are corresponded to the formation of multiple suites of organic-rich strata globally, which are crucial to the formation, evolution and distribution of the fossil energy on Earth. China’s energy is characterized by 'unlimited new energy, rich in coal but insufficient in oil and gas ', and it is determined to rely on new energy sources to achieve ' energy independence ' and carbon neutrality. From the perspective of the Earth system evolution, we investigate the multiple relationships between energy and Earth, energy and environment, as well as energy and human beings, and carry out comprehensive research on energy. Energy science refers to the science of studying the various energy sources formation and distribution, evaluation and selection, production and utilization, orderly replacement, development prospects, etc. in temporal and spatial scales based on the evolution of the Earth system. The connotation of energy science includes three core contents:(1) The relationship between the Earth and energy, including the formation of energy in the Earth system and the feedback of energy consumption to the Earth’s climate and environment;(2) The relationship between the Earth environment and the human beings, including the Earth environment breeding human beings and human activities transforming the earth environment;(3) The relationship between the energy and the human beings, including the development of energy technology by human beings and the progress of human society driven by energy utilization. The energy science focuses on the formation and development of fossil energy, development and orderly replacement of new energy, exploration and utilization of energy in deep earth and deep space, and energy development strategy and planning. | 8 | Inosine:A broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory against SARS-CoV-2 infection-induced acute lung injury via suppressing TBK1 phosphorylation显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)-induced cytokine storms constitute the primary cause of coronavirus disease 19(COVID-19)progression,severity,criticality,and death.Glucocorticoid and anti-cytokine therapies are frequently administered to treat COVID-19,but have limited clinical efficacy in severe and critical cases.Nevertheless,the weaknesses of these treatment modalities have prompted the development of anti-inflammatory therapy against this infection.We found that the broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory agent inosine downregulated proinflammatory interleukin(IL)-6,upregulated anti-inflammatory IL-10,and ameliorated acute inflammatory lung injury caused by multiple infectious agents.Inosine significantly improved survival in mice infected with SARS-CoV-2.It indirectly impeded TANK-binding kinase 1(TBK1)phosphorylation by binding stimulator of interferon genes(STING)and glycogen synthase kinase-3β(GSK3β),inhibited the activation and nuclear translocation of the downstream transcription factors interferon regulatory factor(IRF3)and nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB),and downregulated IL-6 in the sera and lung tissues of mice infected with lipopolysaccharide(LPS),H1N1,or SARS-CoV-2.Thus,inosine administration is feasible for clinical anti-inflammatory therapy against severe and critical COVID-19.Moreover,targeting TBK1 is a promising strategy for inhibiting cytokine storms and mitigating acute inflammatory lung injury induced by SARS-CoV-2 and other infectious agents. | Ningning Wang Entao Li Huifang Deng Lanxin Yue Lei Zhou Rina Su Baokun He Chengcai Lai Gaofu Li Yuwei Gao Wei Zhou Yue Gao | 2023 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2023,13,1: | 0 |
