| 1 | Multiple linear equation of pore structure and coal–oxygen diffusion on low temperature oxidation process of lignite显示文摘This work aimed at studying the feasibility of calculating the coal–oxygen diffusion properties during the low temperature oxidation process of lignite so as to predict its spontaneous combustion process. Coal samples were oxidized in air ambient under different temperatures. Scanning Electron Microscope was used to indicate the surface morphology changes of oxidization. Then, based on fractal theory and flow characteristics, the fractal dimension of gas diffusion in the pore ways was calculated under different temperature. Considering pore size distribution, connectivity distribution and Fick diffusion mechanisms, the relationship between the gas diffusivity change with pore area fractal dimension and porosity was investigated, and multiple linear equation of the coal–oxygen diffusion coefficients and pore parameters was obtained. Comparison between the experimental data and model prediction verifies the validity of the model. | 2 | Characterization of particulate products for aging of ethylbenzene secondary organic aerosol in the presence of ammonium sulfate seed aerosol显示文摘Aging of secondary organic aerosol(SOA) particles formed from OH– initiated oxidation of ethylbenzene in the presence of high mass(100–300 μg/m^3) concentrations of(NH_4)_2SO_4seed aerosol was investigated in a home-made smog chamber in this study.The chemical composition of aged ethylbenzene SOA particles was measured using an aerosol laser time-of-flight mass spectrometer(ALTOFMS) coupled with a Fuzzy C-Means(FCM) clustering algorithm.Experimental results showed that nitrophenol,ethyl-nitrophenol,2,4-dinitrophenol,methyl glyoxylic acid,5-ethyl-6-oxo-2,4-hexadienoic acid,2-ethyl-2,4-hexadiendioic acid,2,3-dihydroxy-5-ethyl-6-oxo-4-hexenoic acid,1H-imidazole,hydrated N-glyoxal substituted1H-imidazole,hydrated glyoxal dimer substituted imidazole,1H-imidazole-2-carbaldehyde,N-glyoxal substituted hydrated 1H-imidazole-2-carbaldehyde and high-molecular-weight(HMW) components were the predominant products in the aged particles.Compared to the previous aromatic SOA aging studies,imidazole compounds,which can absorb solar radiation effectively,were newly detected in aged ethylbenzene SOA in the presence of high concentrations of(NH_4)_2SO_4seed aerosol.These findings provide new information for discussing aromatic SOA aging mechanisms. | Mingqiang Huang Jiahui Zhang Shunyou Cai Yingmin Liao Weixiong Zhao Changjin Hu Xuejun Gu Li Fang Weijun Zhang | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,9: | 6 |
| 3 | Experimental study of photooxidation products of ethylbenzene显示文摘Smog chamber experiments were performed to investigate the composition of products formed from photooxidation of aromatic hydrocarbon ethylbenzene.Vacuum ultraviolet photoionization mass spectrometer and aerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometer were used to measure the products in the gas and particle phases in real-time.Experimental results demonstrated that ethylphenol,methylglyoxal,phenol,benzaldehyde,and 2-ethylfurane were the predominant photooxidation products in both the gas and particle phases.However,there were some dierences between detected gas phase products and those of particle phase,for example,2-ethylfurane,ethylglyoxylic acid,nitroethylbenzene,3,4-dioxopentanal and ethyl-nitrophenol were only existing in the particle-phase. | 4 | Size distribution and chemical composition of secondary organic aerosol formed from Cl-initiated oxidation of toluene显示文摘Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formed from Cl-initiated oxidation of toluene was investigated in a home-made smog chamber. The size distribution and chemical composition of SOA particles were measured using aerodynamic particle sizer spectrometer and the aerosol laser time-of-flight mass spectrometer (ALTOFMS), respectively. According to a large number of single aerosol diameter and mass spectra, the size distribution and chemical composition of SOA were obtained statistically. Experimental results showed that SOA particles created by Cl-initiated oxidation of toluene is predominantly in the form of fine particles, which have diameters less than 2.5 μm (i.e., PM2.5), and glyoxal, benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol, benzoquinone, benzoic acid, benzyl hydroperoxide and benzyl methyl nitrate are the major products components in the SOA. | 6 | State of health estimation for lithium-ion batteries in real-world electric vehicles显示文摘The state of health(SOH) plays a significant role in the mileage and safety of an electric vehicle(EV). In recent years, many methods based on data-driven analysis and laboratory measurements have been developed for SOH estimation. However, most of these proposed methods cannot be applied to real-world EVs. Here, we present a method for SOH estimation based on realworld EV data. A battery-aging evaluation health index(HI) with a strong correlation to the SOH is retrieved from battery-aging data and then modified with thermal factors to depict the former SOH. Afterward, a local weighted linear-regression algorithm is used to qualitatively characterize the declining trend of the HI, which eliminates the local HI fluctuation caused by data noise.Subsequently, a series of features-of-interest(FOIs) is extracted according to the battery consistency, cell-voltage extrema, and cumulative mileage, and validated using the grey relational analysis. Finally, a battery-degradation model is built using the extreme gradient-boosting algorithm with the selected FOIs. | 8 | Biodegradation of waste refrigerator polyurethane by mealworms显示文摘Refrigerator insulation replacement results in discarding a large amount of waste refrigerator polyurethane(WRPU).Insect larvae like mealworms have been used to biodegrade pristine plastics.However,knowledge about mealworms degrading WRPU is scarce.This study presents an in-depth investigation of the degradation of WRPU by mealworms using the micro-morphology,composition,and functional groups of WRPU and the egested frass characteristics.It was found that the WRPU debris in frass was scoured,implying that WRPU was ingested and degraded by mealworms.The carbon content of WRPU-based frass was lower than that of WRPU,indicating that mealworms utilized WRPU as a carbon source.The urethane groups in WRPU were broken,and benzene rings’C=C and C–H bonds in the isocyanate disappeared after being ingested by mealworms.Thermal gravimetric-differential thermal gravimetry analysis showed that the weight loss temperature of WRPU-based frass was 300°C lower than that of WRPU,indicating that the thermal stability of WRPU deteriorated after being ingested.The carbon balance analysis confirmed that carbon in the ingested WRPU released as CO_(2) increased from 18.84%to 29.80%,suggesting that WRPU was partially mineralized.The carbon in the mealworm biomass ingesting WRPU decreased.The possible reason is that WRPU does not supply sufficient nutrients for mealworm growth,and the impurities and odor present in WRPU affect the appetite of the mealworms.The microbial community analysis indicated that WRPU exerts a considerable effect on the gut microorganism of mealworms.These findings confirm that mealworms degrade WRPU. | Ping Zhu Shuangshuang Gong Mingqiang Deng Bin Xia Yazheng Yang Jiakang Tang Guangren Qian Fang Yu Ashantha Goonetilleke Xiaowei Li | 2023 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,3: | 0 |

| 10 | Meridional Variation of the 1955-2003 Sea Level Anomalies in the Tropical Pacific Ocean Associated with El Nifio Events显示文摘The Sea Level Anomaly-Torque (SLAT, relative to a reference location in the Pacific Ocean), which means the total torque of the gravity forces of sea waters with depths equal to the Sea Level Anomaly (SLA) in the tropical Pacific Ocean, is defined in this study. The time series of the SLAT from merged altimeter data (1993-2003) had a great meridional variation during the 1997-1998 El Nio event.
