| 4 | Influence of stress anisotropy on the cylindrical cavity expansion in undrained elastic-perfectly plastic soil显示文摘This work presents an analysis of the influence of stress anisotropy on cylindrical cavity expansions in an undrained elastic-perfectly plastic soil. This problem was formulated by assuming a large strain in both the elastic and plastic zones around the cavity and a plain strain condition during the cavity expansion process. The solutions for the limit pressure, stress, and excess pore pressure were obtained by introducing the anisotropic initial stress coefficient K_0 into the conventional cylindrical cavity expansion method.The proposed solutions were then used to interpret the piezocone penetration test, and the suitability of the solutions was verified by comparing the prediction with the piezocone penetration test data. Subsequently, parametric studies were carried out to investigate the influence of stress anisotropy on the stress, excess pores pressure distributions around an expanding cylindrical cavity, and limit pressure. The results show that the proposed cylindrical cavity expansion method under stress anisotropy is suitable and can be used to investigate the piezocone cone test. | 10 | Systematic analysis of feeding behaviors and their effects on feed efficiency in Pekin ducks显示文摘Background: Feeding behavior study is important for animal husbandry and production. However, few studies were conducted on the feeding behavior and their relationship with feeding efficiency in Pekin ducks. In order to investigate the feeding behavior and their relationship with feed efficiency and other economic traits in Pekin ducks, we selected 358 male Pekin ducks and recorded feeding information between 3 to 6 wk of age using automatic electronic feeders, and compared the feeding behavior under different residual feed intake(RFI) levels.Results: We observed that total feed time, daily feed intake and feed intake per meal had strong positive correlations with feed efficiency traits; moreover, strong correlation between feed intake per meal and body weight was found(R=0.32, 0.36). Daily feeding rate meal and meal duration had weak correlations with feed efficiency(R=0.14~0.15). The phenotypic correlation of between-meal pauses, with feed efficiency was not observed. When daily changes were analyzed, high RFI ducks had the highest feed consumption over all times, and obvious differences in daily visits were found among different RFI level animals during the middle period; these differences were magnified with age, but there was no difference in daily meal number. | 11 | Use of deep learning in forensic sex estimation of virtual pelvic models from the Han population显示文摘Accurate sex estimation is crucial to determine the identity of human skeletal remains effectively.Here,we developed convolutional neural network(CNN)models for sex estimation on virtual hemi-pelvic regions,including the ventral pubis(VP),dorsal pubis(DP),greater sciatic notch(GSN),pelvic inlet(PI),ischium,and acetabulum from the Han population and compared these models with two experienced forensic anthropologists using morphological methods.A Computed Tomography(CT)dataset of 862 individuals was divided into the subgroups of training,validation,and testing,respectively.The CT-based virtual hemi-pelvises from the training and validation groups were used to calibrate sex estimation models;and then a testing dataset was used to evaluate the performance of the trained models and two human experts on the sex estimation of specific pelvic regions in terms of overall accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,F1 score,and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.Except for the ischium and acetabulum,the CNN models trained with the VP,DP,GSN,and PI images achieved excellent results with all the prediction metrics over 0.9.All accuracies were superior to those of the two forensic anthropologists in the independent testing.Notably,the heatmap results confirmed that the trained CNN models were focused on traditional sexual anatomic traits for sex classification.This study demonstrates the potential of AI techniques based on the radiological dataset in sex estimation of virtual pelvic models.The excellent sex estimation performance obtained by the CNN models indicates that this method is valuable to proceed with in prospective forensic trials. | Yongjie Cao Yonggang Ma Xiaotong Yang Jian Xiong Yahui Wang Jianhua Zhang Zhiqiang Qin Yijiu Chen Duarte Nuno Vieira Feng Chen Ji Zhang Ping Huang | 2022 | Forensic Sciences Research2022,7,3: | 1 |

| 20 | Bone metastasis is a late-onset and unfavorable event in survivors of gastric cancer after radical gastrectomy:Results from a clinical observational cohort显示文摘Background The timing and incidence of recurrent bone metastasis(BM)after radical gastrectomy in patients with gastric cancer(GC)as well as the survival of these patients were not fully understood.The aim of this study was to analyze the data of an observational GC cohort and identify patients who underwent curative gastrectomy and had recurrent BM to describe and clarify the pattern and profile of BM evolution after surgery.Methods Data were retrieved from a hospital-based GC cohort,and patients who underwent upfront radical gastrectomy were selected.The time points of specific organ metastatic events were recorded,and the person-year incidence rate of metastatic events was calculated.The latency period of BM events after gastrectomy was measured and compared with that of the other two most common metastatic events,liver metastasis(LM)and distant lymph node metastasis(LNM),using analysis of variance.Propensity score matching and subgroup analysis were used for sensitivity analysis.Results A total of 1324 GC cases underwent radical gastrectomy between January 2011 and December 2021.Of these,67 BM,218 LM,and 248 LNM occurred before the last follow-up.The incidence of BM events was 1.7/100 person-years,which was approximately 3-fold lower than that of LM and distant LNM events(5.5 and 6.3 per 100 person-years,respectively).BM events had a significantly longer latency(median time,16.5 months)than LM and LNM events(11.1 and 12.0 months,respectively).Recurrent BM led to a worse prognosis(median survival,4.5 months)than those of LM and LNM events(median survival,7.7 and 7.1 months,respectively).However,no difference in overall survival after gastrectomy was observed among the groups.Conclusions Compared with other common metastatic events,BM in GC after gastrectomy is a late-onset event indicating poor survival. | Cheng Zhang Xiaopeng Zhang Chong Feng Yahui Yang Minmin Xie Ying Feng Zhijun Wu Hui Xu Changhao Wu Tai Ma | 2024 | Cancer Pathogenesis and Therapy2024,2,1: | 0 |
