3The Reference Genome of Tea Plant and Resequencing of 81 Diverse Accessions Provide Insights into Its Genome Evolution and Adaptation显示文摘Tea plant is an important economic crop,which is used to produce the world's oldest and most widely consumed tea beverages.Here,we present a high-quality reference genome assembly of the tea plant(Camellia sinensis var.sinensis)consisting of 15 pseudo-chromosomes.LTR retrotransposons(LTR-RTs)account for 70.38%of the genome,and we present evidence that LTR-RTS play critical roles in genome size expansion and the transcriptional diversification of tea plant genes through preferential insertion in promoter regions and introns.Genes,particularly those coding for terpene biosynthesis pro-teins,associated with tea aroma and stress resistance were significantly amplified through recent tandem duplications and exist as gene clusters in tea plant genome.Phylogenetic analysis of the sequences of 81 tea plant accessions with diverse origins revealed three well-differentiated tea plant populations,support-ing the proposition for the southwest origin of the Chinese cultivated tea plant and its later spread to western Asia through introduction.Domestication and modern breeding left significant signatures on hundreds of genes in the tea plant genome,particularly those associated with tea quality and stress resis-tance.The genomic sequences of the reported reference and resequenced tea plant accessions provide valuable resources for future functional genomics study and molecular breeding of improved cul-tivars of tea plants.Enhua Xia Wei Tong Yan Hou Yanlin An Linbo Chen Qiong Wu Yunlong Liu Jie Yu Fangdong Li Ruopei Li Penghui Li Huijuan Zhao Ruoheng Ge Jin Huang Ali Inayat Mallano Yanrui Zhang Shengrui Liu Weiwei Deng Chuankui Song Zhaoliang Zhang Jian Zhao Shu Wei Zhengzhu Zhang Tao Xia Chaoling Wei Xiaochun Wan 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,7:51
4Comparing the Diagnostic Criteria for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus of World Health Organization 2013 with 1999 in Chinese Population显示文摘INTRODUCTION Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) was earlier defined as 'hyperglycemia first recognized during pregnancy' and has more recently been described by American Diabetes Association (ADA) (2012) as diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy that is not clearly overt diabetes.[1] The hyperglycemia and adverse pregnancy outcomes study (HAPO) demonstrated that the risk of adverse maternal,fetal,and neonatal outcomes continuously increase as a function of maternal glycemia at 24-28 weeks,even within ranges previously considered normal for pregnancy.[2] After reviewing the results of the HAPO study,many international diabetes study groups,including the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups and ADA have adopted the 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 24-28 weeks as a screening and diagnostic test and defined new cut-off values for GDM diagnosis.The Ministry of Health of China published the criteria for GDM,that is the same as the ADA criteria on July 1,2011.World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the 75 g OGTT with different cut-offvalues as a diagnostic test since 1999,changed its recommendation on 2013.In Hongkong and Yunnan province in China,most hospital adopted the WHO 1999 criteria,nevertheless,there is no evidence of multicenter and large sample to show that the GDM population within the same ethnic group diagnosed by the new WHO criteria matches those diagnosed by the old one and consistency between the two criteria has not been reported.Thus,we conducted this study to analyze the two criteria in Chinese pregnant women.Weiwei Zhu Huixia Yang Yumei Wei Zilian Wang Xuelan Li Hairong Wu Nan Li Meihua Zhang Xinghui Liu Hua Zhang Yunhui Wang Jianmin Niu Yujie Gan Liruo Zhong Yunfeng Wang Anil Kapur 2015Chinese Medical Journal2015,,1:42
5Effects of thymol and carvacrol supplementation on intestinal integrity and immune responses of broiler chickens challenged with Clostridium perfringens显示文摘Background: Necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens infection leads to serious economic losses in the global poultry production. In the present study, we investigated the protective effects of essential oils(EO, which contained 25 % thymol and 25 % carvacrol as active components) supplementation on growth performance, gut lesions, intestinal morphology, and immune responses of the broiler chickens infected with C. perfringens. A total of448 1-day-old male broiler chicks were allocated into eight treatment groups following a 4 × 2 factorial arrangement with four dietary EO dosages(0, 60, 120, or 240 mg/kg) and two infection status(with or without C. perfringens challenge from d 14 to 20).Results: The challenge did not impair the growth performance of birds, but induced gut lesions and increased crypt depth in the ileum(P ≤ 0.05). It also down-regulated the claudin-1 and occludin m RNA expression(P ≤ 0.05),up-regulated the m RNA expression of interleukin-1β(P ≤ 0.05), tended to increase the toll-like receptor(TLR)2 m RNA expression(P < 0.10) in the ileum, and enhanced the mucosal secretory Ig A production(P ≤ 0.05). In the challenged birds, dietary EO supplementation linearly alleviated the gut lesions and improved the ratio of vil us height to crypt depth(P ≤ 0.05), and the supplementation of 120 and 240 mg/kg EO increased the serum antibody titers against Newcastle disease virus(P ≤ 0.05). 8The propagation of seafloor spreading in the southwestern subbasin,South China Sea显示文摘On the basis of the summary of basic characteristics of propagation, the dynamic model of the tectonic evolution in the South-western Subbasin (SWSB), South China Sea (SCS), has been established through high resolution multi-beam swatch bathymetry and multi-channel seismic profiles, combined with magnetic anomaly analysis. Spreading propagates from NE to SW and shows a transition from steady seafloor spreading, to initial seafloor spreading, and to continental rifting in the southwest end. 10Effects of Lactobacillus acidophilus on the growth performance and intestinal health of broilers challenged with Clostridium perfringens显示文摘Background: Clostridium perfringens is the main etiological agent of necrotic enteritis. Lactobacil i show beneficial effects on intestinal health in infectious disease, but the protective functions of lactobacil i in C. perfringens-infected chickens are scarcely described. This study examined the effects of Lactobacil us acidophilus(L. acidophilus) on the growth performance and intestinal health of broiler chickens chal enged with Clostridium perfringens(C. perfringens) over a 28-day period. Using a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement of treatments, a total of 308 1-day-old male Arbor Acres broiler chicks were included to investigate the effects of Lactobacil us acidophilus(L. acidophilus) on the growth performance and intestinal health of broiler chickens chal enged with Clostridium perfringens(C. perfringens) during a 28-day trial.Results: During infection(d 14–21), C. perfringens challenge decreased the average daily gain(P < 0.05), and increased feed conversion ratio and the mortality rate(P < 0.05). However, dietary supplementation with L. acidophilus increased the body weight of C. perfringens-infected broilers on d 21(P < 0.05), and tended to decrease the mortality(P = 0.061).C. perfringens challenge decreased the villus height(P < 0.05), the ratio of villus height to crypt depth(P < 0.05) and OCLN(occludin) m RNA expression(P < 0.05), and increased the pro-inflammatory cytokine expression in the spleen and jejunum, the intestinal populations of C. perfringens and Escherichia(P < 0.05), and the serum content of endotoxin(P < 0.05), regardless of L. acidophilus supplementation. 11Crustal structure of the northwestern sub-basin, South China Sea: Results from a wide-angle seismic experiment显示文摘The crustal structure of the northwestern sub-basin area of the South China Sea was modeled by inverting a wide-angle seismic survey line across the entire region and on both sides of its bounding continental margins. The survey line extended over 484 km. A total of 14 Ocean Bottom Seismometers (OBS) were deployed at intervals of 30 km to record air-gun array sources with a combined volume of 5160 in 3 . The crustal velocity structure of the northwestern sub-basin area was acquired through the integration of multi-channel seismic data. OBS data were processed and modeled initially using ray tracing inversion techniques. Results indicate that crustal thickness under the continental slope decreases from 21 to 11 km, crustal thickness of the northwestern sub-basin is 7.7 km, and the depth to the Moho ascends from 21 km under the upper continental slope to 11 km under the middle basin. The crust of the northwestern sub-basin is similar to that of the eastern sub-basin in its oceanic crustal structure. This structure has a thicker layer 1 (sedimentary layer) and a thinner layer 2. These characteristics are especially clear in the eastern sub-basin, which differs somewhat from typical oceanic crust. The tectonic geometry and velocity structure of the northwestern sub-basin and its margins comprise a symmetrical conjugate and indicate a pure shear mode with regard to the continental margin rifting mechanism. We did not find clear seismic signals from high velocity layers under the lower crust of the continental margin in the northern part of the northwestern sub-basin, which provides new evidence for the idea that the western part of the northern continental margin of the South China Sea constitutes nonvolcanic crust. 13An insight into the removal of fluoroquinolones in activated sludge process:Sorption and biodegradation characteristics显示文摘The detailed sorption steps and biodegradation characteristics of fluoroquinolones(FQs)including ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, lomefloxacin, norfloxacin, and ofloxacin were investigated through batch experiments. The results indicate that FQs at a total concentration of 500 μg/L caused little inhibition of sludge bioactivity. Sorption was the primary removal pathway of FQs in the activated sludge process, followed by biodegradation, while hydrolysis and volatilization were negligible. FQ sorption on activated sludge was a reversible process governed by surface reaction. Henry and Freundlich models could describe the FQ sorption isotherms well in the concentration range of 100–300 μg/L. Thermodynamic parameters revealed that FQ sorption on activated sludge is spontaneous, exothermic, and enthalpy-driven. Hydrophobicity-independent mechanisms determined the FQ sorption affinity with activated sludge. The zwitterion of FQs had the strongest sorption affinity, followed by cation and anion, and aerobic condition facilitated FQ sorption. FQs were slowly biodegradable, with long half-lives(> 100 hr). FQ biodegradation was enhanced with increasing temperature and under aerobic condition,and thus was possibly achieved through co-metabolism during nitrification. 16Adjuvant chemotherapy with paclitaxel and cisplatin in lymph node-positive thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Objective:No standard postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy has ever been established in node-positive esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).This is a study to explore the effect of postoperative paclitaxel(PTX)and cisplatin(DDP)in lymph node-positive,completely resected thoracic ESCC patients.Methods:We conducted a prospective phase II trial.Patients had pathologically node-positive thoracic ESCC with negative margins.Outcomes of disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)were compared with a matched historical control cohort.The postoperative chemotherapy regimen consisted of 4 to 6 cycles of PTX 150mg/m2 administered intravenously on d 1 followed by DDP 50 mg/m2 on d 2 every 14 d.Results:Forty-three patients were accrued from December 2007 to May 2012 at Cancer Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences for adjuvant chemotherapy.The historical control group consisted of 80 patients who received complete resection but no adjuvant chemotherapy during the same period of time.Of the 43 patients with adjuvant chemotherapy,37(86.0%)patients completed 4 to 6 cycles of chemotherapy.The 3-year DFS rates were56.3%in the adjuvant group and 34.6%in the control group(P=0.006).The 3-year OS rates were 55.0%in the adjuvant group and 37.5%in the control group(P=0.013).Multivariate analysis revealed that postoperative chemotherapy was the significant predictor for improved OS(P=0.005).Conclusions:Biweekly adjuvant PTX and DDP might improve 3-year DFS and OS in lymph node-positive,curatively resected thoracic ESCC patients.These conclusions warrant further study in randomized phase III clinical trials.Liangze Zhang Weiwei Li Xiao Lyu Yan Song Yousheng Mao Shaoming Wang Jing Huang 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,2:15
17In vitro antibacterial activity of thymol and carvacrol and their effects on broiler chickens challenged with Clostridium perfringens显示文摘Background:In the post-antibiotic era,essential oils(EO) are promising alternatives to growth-promoting antibiotics.The aim of the present study was to investigate the antibacterial activities of an EO product and its components thymol and carvacrol in vitro,and the efficacy of EO to control Clostridium perfringens challenge in broiler chickens.Results:The in vitro minimum inhibitory concentration assay showed strong antibacterial activity of the EO product,thymol,and carvacrol against pathogenic Escherichia coli,C.perfringens,and Salmonella strains,and weak activity towards beneficial Lactobacillus strains.Besides,an additive effect was observed between thymol and carvacrol.The in vivo study was carried out with 448 male broiler chicks following a 4 × 2 factorial arrangement to test the effects of EO supplementation(0,60,120,or 240 mg/kg EO in wheat-based diet),pathogen challenge(with or without oral gavage of C perfringens from day 14 to day 20) and their interactions.Each treatment consisted of eight replicate pens(seven birds/pen).The challenge led to macroscopic gut lesions,and resulted in a significant increase in ileal populations of C.perfringens and Escherichia subgroup(P< 0.05) on day 21.Dietary EO supplementation did not influence C perfringens numbers,but linearly alleviated intestinal lesions on day 21 and 28(P=0.010 and 0.036,respectively),and decreased Escherichia populations in ileum with increased EO dosages(P=0.027 and 0.071 for day 21 and 28,respectively).For caecum,EO quadratically influenced Lactobacillus populations on day 21(p=0.002),and linearly decreased the numbers of total bacteria and Escherichia on day 28(P=0.026 and 0.060,respectively).Mean thymol and carvacrol concentrations in the small intestine were 0.21 and 0.20 μg/g in intestinal digesta(wet weight),respectively,for birds fed 60 mg/kg EO,and 0.80 and 0.71 μg/g,respectively,for birds fed 240 mg/kg EO.Conclusions:These results indicated that dietary EO supplementation could affect intestinal microbiota and alleviate intestinal lesions in broilers,which may contribute in controlling C.perfringens infection in broiler chickens.Encun Du Liping Gan Zhui Li Weiwei Wang Dan Liu Yuming Guo 2016Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2016,7,1:14
18Characteristics of Settings and Etiologic Agents of Foodborne Disease Outbreaks—China,2020显示文摘Introduction:Foodborne diseases are a growing public health problem and have caused a large burden of disease in China.This study analyzed epidemiological characteristics of foodborne diseases in China in 2020 to provide a scientific basis for prevention and control measures.Methods:Data were collected from 30 of 31 provincial-level administrative divisions(PLADs)in the mainland of China,excluding Xizang(Tibet)Autonomous Region,via the National Foodborne Disease Outbreaks Surveillance System・The number and proportion of outbreaks,illnesses,hospitalizations,deaths by setting,pathogen-food category pairs and etiology were calculated.Results:In 2020,7,073 foodborne disease outbreaks were reported,resulting in 37,454 illnesses and 143 deaths.Among the identified pathogens,microbial pathogens were the most common confirmed etiology,accounting for 41.7%of illnesses.Poisonous mushrooms caused the largest proportion of outbreaks(58.0%)and deaths(57.6%).For venues where foodborne disease outbreaks occur,household had the highest number of outbreaks(4,140)and deaths(128),and catering service locations caused the largest proportion of illnesses(59.9%).Outbreaks occurring between June and September accounted for 62.8%of total outbreaks.Conclusions:Foodborne disease outbreaks mainly occurred in households・Microbial pathogens remained the top cause of outbreak-associated illnesses.Poisonous mushrooms were ranked the top cause of deaths in private homes in China.The supervision and management of food safety and health education should be strengthened to reduce the burden of foodborne diseases・Publicity should be increased to reduce the incidence of mushroom poisonings in families,and supervision and management of food should be strengthened to reduce microbial contamination.Hongqiu Li Weiwei Li Yue Dai Yuyan Jiang Junhua Liang Santao Wang Maoqiang Zhuang Zheng Huang Lizi Xu Bo Xue Jikai Liu Haihong Han Sara M.Pires Ping Fu Yunchang Guo 2021China CDC weekly2021,3,42:14
19Lane departure warning systems and lane line detection methods based on image processing and semantic segmentation:A review显示文摘Recently,the development and application of lane line departure warning systems have been in the market.For any of the systems,the key part of lane line tracking,lane line identification,or lane line departure warning is whether it can accurately and quickly detect lane lines.Since 1990 s,they have been studied and implemented for the situations defined by the good viewing conditions and the clear lane markings on road.After then,the accuracy for particular situations,the robustness for a wide range of scenarios,time efficiency and integration into higher-order tasks define visual lane line detection and tracking as a continuing research subject.At present,these kinds of lane marking line detection methods based on machine vision and image processing can be divided into two categories:the traditional image processing and semantic segmentation(includes deep learning)methods.The former mainly involves feature-based and model-based steps,and which can be classified into similarity-and discontinuity-based ones;and the model-based step includes different parametric straight line,curve or pattern models.The semantic segmentation includes different machine learning,neural network and deep learning methods,which is the new trend for the research and application of lane line departure warning systems.This paper describes and analyzes the lane line departure warning systems,image processing algorithms and semantic segmentation methods for lane line detection.Weiwei Chen Weixing Wang Kevin Wang Zhaoying Li Huan Li Sheng Liu 2020Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2020,7,6:14
20Preparation of activated carbon from cattail and its application for dyes removal显示文摘Activated carbon was prepared from cattail by H3PO4 activation. The effects influencing the surface area of the resulting activated carbon followed the sequence of activated temperature > activated time > impregnation ratio > impregnation time. The optimum condition was found at an impregnation ratio of 2.5, an impregnation time of 9 hr, an activated temperature of 500°C, and an activated time of 80 min. The Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area and average pore size of the activated carbon were 1279 m2/g and 5.585 nm, respectively. A heterogeneous structure in terms of both size and shape was highly developed and widely distributed on the carbon surface. Some groups containing oxygen and phosphorus were formed, and the carboxyl group was the major oxygen-containing functional group. An isotherm equilibrium study was carried out to investigate the adsorption capacity of the activated carbon. The data fit the Langmuir isotherm equation, with maximum monolayer adsorption capacities of 192.30 mg/g for Neutral Red and 196.08 mg/g for Malachite Green. Dye-exhausted carbon could be regenerated effectively by thermal treatment.
