| 1 | Determination of Heterotic Groups and Heterosis Analysis of Yield Performance in indica Rice显示文摘To compare the heterosis levels among various groups of parental lines used extensively in China, identify foundational heterotic groups in parental pools and understand the relationship between genetic distance and heterosis performance, 16 parental lines with extensive genetic variation were selected from various sub-groups, and 39 hybrid combinations were generated and evaluated in Fujian and Hainan Provinces of China. The main results were as follows:(1) The 16 parental lines can be grouped into 7 sub-groups consisting of 1 maintainer sub-group and 6 restorer sub-groups;(2) Mean grain yield of the restorer lines was higher than that of the maintainer lines, and mean yield of parental lines was higher than that of the hybrid combinations;(3) The two best heterotic patterns were II-32A × G5 and II-32A × G6, moreover, the order of restorer sub-groups according to grain yield, from the highest to lowest, was G7, G6, G5, G4, G3 and G2; High specific combining ability values were observed for combinations of II-32A × G5, II-32A × G6 and Tianfeng A × G7;(4) Hybrid combinations derived from II-32A crossed with 13 restorer lines had higher yield trait values(mid-parent heterosis, better-parent heterosis, standard heterosis over check and specific combining ability) than any other combinations;(5) Genetic distance was positively correlated with panicle number, grain length and length-to-width ratio(P < 0.05) and negatively correlated with grain width, grain yield, seed-setting rate, as well as mid-parent heterosis, standard heterosis over check, and specific combining ability for grain yield(P < 0.01). | 2 | Relationship between suspended sediments from the Changjiang Estuary and the evolution of the embayed muddy coast of Zhejiang Province显示文摘South of Hangzhou Bay, Zhejiang Province, exhibits an embayed muddy coastline, with the muddy beaches of embayments extending continuously seaward.The source of sediments on this coast presents an interesting problem to marine geologists and geomorphologists .The total annual load of sediments from the rivers of Zhejiang is only 12×106t.These materials affect only the area near the river mouths. The paper showed that the sediment along the coast of Zhejiang mainly comes from the Changjiang Estuary through analysing the time and space variations of suspended sediment, the features of sediment and the sedimentary transport.The Changjiang River is the largest river system in China, its sediment to the sea amounting to 468×106t. The sediment during summer transports mainly eastward, and is affected by the water body with high temperature, salinity and transparency; the winter season is the period with high sediment concentration. | 3 | Building Load Forecasting Using Deep Neural Network with Efficient Feature Fusion显示文摘The energy consumption of buildings has risen steadily in recent years. It is vital for the managers and owners of the building to manage the electric energy demand of the buildings. Forecasting electric energy consumption of the buildings will bring great profits, which is influenced by many factors that make it very difficult to provide an advanced forecasting. Recently, deep learning techniques are widely adopted to solve this problem. Deep neural network offers an excellent capability in handling complex non-linear relationships and competence in exploring regular patterns and uncertainties of consumption behaviors at the building level. In this paper, we propose a deep convolutional neural network based on Res Net for hour-ahead building load forecasting. In addition, we design a branch that integrates the temperature per hour into the forecasting branch. To enhance the learning capability of the model, an innovative feature fusion is presented. | 4 | Fluctuations in the tidal limit of the Yangtze River estuary in the last decade显示文摘The tidal limit is the key interface indicating whether water levels will be affected by tidal waves, which is of great significance to navigation safety and regional flood control. Due to limitations in research methods, recent changes in the Yangtze River tidal limit, caused by sea level rise and large-scale engineering projects, urgently need to be studied. In this study,spectrum analysis was undertaken on measured water level data from downstream Yangtze River hydrological stations from2007 to 2016. The bounds of the tidal limit were identified through comparisons between the spectra and red noise curves, and the fluctuation range and characteristics were summarized. The results showed that:(1) During the extremely dry period, when the flow rate at Jiujiang station was about 8440 m3 s-1, the tidal limit was near Jiujiang; whereas during the flood season, when the flow rate at Jiujiang station was about 66700 m3 s-1, the tidal limit was between Zongyang Sluice and Chikou station.(2)From the upper to lower reach, the effect of the Jiujiang flow rate on the tidal limit weakens, while the effect of the Nanjing tidal range increases. | 5 | Origin and domestication history of Peking ducks deltermined through microsatellite and mitochondrial marker analysis显示文摘In order to elucidate the domestication history of Peking ducks, 190 blood samples from six Chinese indigenous duck breeds were collected with186 individualsgenotyped by 15 microsatellite markers. Both the FST and Nei’s standard genetic distances (Ds) from the microsatellite data indicated high genetic differentiation between Peking duck and other Chinese indigenous breeds. The haplotype network with mtDNA data showed that most of the Peking duck haplotypes were distinctly different from those of other domestic breeds. Although the H01 haplotype was shared by all domesticated duck breeds, Peking ducks displayed 12 specific domestic duck haplotypes, including four similar haplotypes H02, H04, H08 and H22, that formed a single haplogroup (A). | 11 | Systematic analysis of feeding behaviors and their effects on feed efficiency in Pekin ducks显示文摘Background: Feeding behavior study is important for animal husbandry and production. However, few studies were conducted on the feeding behavior and their relationship with feeding efficiency in Pekin ducks. In order to investigate the feeding behavior and their relationship with feed efficiency and other economic traits in Pekin ducks, we selected 358 male Pekin ducks and recorded feeding information between 3 to 6 wk of age using automatic electronic feeders, and compared the feeding behavior under different residual feed intake(RFI) levels.Results: We observed that total feed time, daily feed intake and feed intake per meal had strong positive correlations with feed efficiency traits; moreover, strong correlation between feed intake per meal and body weight was found(R=0.32, 0.36). Daily feeding rate meal and meal duration had weak correlations with feed efficiency(R=0.14~0.15). The phenotypic correlation of between-meal pauses, with feed efficiency was not observed. When daily changes were analyzed, high RFI ducks had the highest feed consumption over all times, and obvious differences in daily visits were found among different RFI level animals during the middle period; these differences were magnified with age, but there was no difference in daily meal number. | 19 | Role of exercise training on insulin resistance and TNF-α in high-fat diet rats显示文摘This study investigated the effect of exercise training on insulin resistance and serum and adipose TNF-αin high-fat diet-induced insulin-resistant rats.Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into two groups:normal control group(NC;n=8)that accepted normal chow and high-fat diet group(HF;n=22)that fed on high-fat diet to induce insulin resistance model.The HF group was randomly assigned to two subgroups after 18 weeks:sedentary group(SE;n=10)and exercise training group(ET;n=12)that performed swimming exercise training for 6 weeks,while both groups continued high-fat diet.Changes of body weight,lipid profile,and fasting plasma glucose and insulin were measured.The insulin sensitivity index(ISI)was calculated.Serum concentration of TNF-αwas detected by ELISA.The expression of TNF-αmRNA and protein in adipose tissue was examined by using real-timefluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and Western blot,respectively.After 18 weeks,compared with the NC group,body weight,blood lipid,glucose,and insulin in the HF group were significantly elevated,while the ISI decreased obviously,which suggested that insulin resistance appeared in the HF group.After exercise training for 6 weeks,compared with the SE group,both ISI and serum TNF-αconcentration in the ET group were decreased significantly;however,the expression levels of TNF-αmRNA and protein in adipose tissue increased by 27.5%and 20.5%,respectively.In conclusion,exercise training ameliorates insulin resis-tance.The reduction of the level of serum TNF-αand the increased expression of TNF-αin adipose tissue by exercise training may be involved in this mechanism. | Hui SUN Xiuling DENG Fangxi XIAO Lulu CHEN Huiqing LI | 2009 | Frontiers of Medicine2009,3,4: | 0 |
| 20 | A novel candidate gene CLN8 regulates fat deposition in avian显示文摘Background The fat deposition has a crucial role in animal meat flavor,and fat deposition-related traits are vital for breeding in the commercial duck industry.Avian fat-related traits are typical complex phenotypes,which need a large amount of data to analyze the genetic loci.Results In this study,we performed a new phenotypic analysis of fat traits and genotyped whole-genome varia-tions for 1,246 ducks,and combed with previous GWAS data to reach 1,880 ducks for following analysis.The carcass composition traits,subcutaneous fat weight(SFW),subcutaneous fat percentage(SFP),abdominal fat weight(AFW),abdominal fat percentage(AFP)and the body weight of day 42(BW42)for each duck were collected.We identified a set of new loci that affect the traits related to fat deposition in avian.Among these loci,ceroid-lipofuscinosis,neuronal 8(CLN8)is a novel candidate gene controlling fat deposition.We investigated its novel function and regulation in avian adipogenesis.Five significant SNPs(the most significant SNP,P-value=21.37E-12)and a single haplotype were detected in the upstream of CLN8 for subcutaneous fat percentage.Subsequently,luciferase assay demonstrated that 5 linked SNPs in the upstream of the CLN8 gene significantly decreased the transcriptional activity of CLN8.Further,ATAC-seq analysis showed that transcription factor binding sites were identified in a region close to the haplotype.A set of luciferase reporter gene vectors that contained different deletion fragments of the CLN8 promoter were con-structed,and the core promoter area of CLN8 was finally identified in the-1,884/-1,207 bp region of the 5′flanking sequences,which contains adipogenesis-related transcription factors binding sites.Moreover,the over-expression of CLN8 can remarkably facilitate adipocyte differentiation in ICPs.Consistent with these,the global transcriptome profiling and functional analysis of the over-expressed CLN8 in the cell line further revealed that the lipid biosynthetic process during the adipogenesis was significantly enriched.Conclusions Our results demonstrated that CLN8 is a positive regulator of avian adipocyte differentiation.These findings identify a novel function of CLN8 in adipocyte differentiation,which provides important clues for the further study of the mechanism of avian fat deposition. | Xiaoqin Li Fan Zhang Yunxiao Sun Dandan Sun Fangxi Yang Yongtong Liu Zhuocheng Hou | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,5: | 0 |
