1Chinese deserts and sand fields in Last Glacial Maximum and Holocene Optimum显示文摘The Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, c. 26-16 ka) and the Holocene Optimum (HO, c. 9-5 ka) were characterized by cold-dry and warm-wet climates respectively in the recently geological Earth. How Chinese deserts and sand fields responded to these distinctive climatic changes is still not clear, however. To reconstruct environments of the deserts and sand fields during the LGM and HO is helpful to understand the forcing mechanisms of environment change in this arid region, and to test paleoclimatic modeling results. Through our long-term field and laboratory investigations, 400 optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) ages and more than 100 depositional records in the Chinese deserts and sand fields were obtained; on the basis of these data, we reconstruct spatial distributions of the deserts and sand fields during the LGM and HO. Our results show that the sand fields of Mu Us, Hunshandake, Horqin and Hulun Buir in northern and northeastern China had expanded 25%, 37%, 38% and 270%, respectively, during the LGM; the sand fields of Gonghe in the northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau had expanded 20%, and the deserts of Badain Jaran, Tengger in central northern China had expanded 39% and 29% separately during the LGM; the deserts of Taklimakan, Gurbantünggüt and Kumtag in northwestern China had expanded 10%-20% respectively, compared to their modern areas. On the other hand, all of the sand fields were nearly completely covered by vegetation during the HO; the deserts in northwestern and central northern China were reduced by around 5%-20% in area during this time. Lakes in this arid region were probably expanded during the HO but this conclusion needs more investigation. Compared with the geological distributions of deserts and sand fields, human activity has clearly changed (expanded) the area of active sand dunes at the present time. 2S100A8 promotes epithelial-mesenchymal transition and metastasis under TGF-β/USF2 axis in colorectal cancer显示文摘Background:The transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)pathway plays a pivotal role in inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT),which is a key step in cancer invasion and metastasis.However,the regulatory mechanism of TGF-βin inducing EMT in colorectal cancer(CRC)has not been fully elucidated.In previous studies,it was found that S100A8 may regulate EMT.This study aimed to clarify the role of S100A8 in TGF-β-induced EMT and explore the underlying mechanism in CRC.Methods:S100A8 and upstream transcription factor 2(USF2)expression was detected by immunohistochemistry in 412 CRC tissues.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed.In vitro,Western blot,and migration and invasion assays were performed to investigate the effects of S100A8 and USF2 on TGF-β-induced EMT.Mouse metastasis models were used to determine in vivo metastasis ability.Luciferase reporter and chromatin immunoprecipitation assay were used to explore the role of USF2 on S100A8 transcription.Results:During TGF-β-induced EMT in CRC cells,S100A8 and the transcription factor USF2 were upregulated.S100A8 promoted cell migration and invasion and EMT.USF2 transcriptionally regulated S100A8 expression by directly binding to its promoter region.Furthermore,TGF-βenhanced the USF2/S100A8 signaling axis of CRC cells whereas extracellular S100A8 inhibited the USF2/S100A8 axis of CRC cells.S100A8 expression in tumor cells was associated with poor overall survival in CRC.USF2 expression was positively related to S100A8 expression in tumor cells but negatively related to S100A8-positive stromal cells.Conclusions:TGF-βwas found to promote EMT and metastasis through the USF2/S100A8 axis in CRC while extracellular S100A8 suppressed the USF2/S100A8 axis.USF2 was identified as an important switch on the intracellular and extracellular S100A8 feedback loop.Si Li Jun Zhang Senmi Qian Xuesong Wu Liang Sun Tianyi Ling Yao Jin Wenxiao Li Lichao Sun Maode Lai Fangying Xu 2021Cancer Communications2021,41,2:5
3Combination of heterogeneous Fenton-like reaction and photocatalysis using Co–TiO_2 nanocatalyst for activation of KHSO_5 with visible light irradiation at ambient conditions显示文摘A novel coupled system using Co–Ti O2was successfully designed which combined two different heterogeneous advanced oxidation processes,sulfate radical based Fenton-like reaction(SR-Fenton)and visible light photocatalysis(Vis-Photo),for degradation of organic contaminants.The synergistic effect of SR-Fenton and Vis-Photo was observed through comparative tests of 50 mg/L Rhodamine B(Rh B)degradation and TOC removal.The Rhodamine B degradation rate and TOC removal were 100%and 68.1%using the SR-Fenton/Vis-Photo combined process under ambient conditions,respectively.Moreover,based on XRD,XPS and UV-DRS characterization,it can be deduced that tricobalt tetroxide located on the surface of the catalyst is the SR-Fenton active site,and cobalt ion implanted in the Ti O2lattice is the reason for the visible light photocatalytic activity of Co–Ti O2.Finally,the effects of the calcination temperature and cobalt concentration on the synergistic performance were also investigated and a possible mechanism for the synergistic system was proposed.This coupled system exhibited excellent catalytic stability and reusability,and almost no dissolution of Co2+was found.Qingkong Chen Fangying Ji Qian Guo Jianping Fan Xuan Xu 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,12:5
4Lipidomics reveals association of circulating lipids with body mass index and outcomes in IgA nephropathy patients显示文摘IgA nephropathy(IgAN)is a leading cause of chronic kidney disease(CKD),which are commonly accompanied by dyslipidemia.Obesity is also associated with dyslipidemia and risk of CKD,but the relation of the dyslipidemia patterns with obesity and disease progression in IgAN patients remains unknown.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and the combined treatment with corticosteroids and TCM have been shown to be of benefit for IgAN patients,but predictive markers for guiding these treatments are lacking.Here,we quantified 545 lipid species in the plasma from 196 participants,including 140 IgAN patients and 56 healthy volunteers,and revealed an altered plasma lipidome in IgAN patients as compared to healthy participants.Association analysis showed that a subgroup of glycerides,particularly triacylglycerols(TGs)containing docosahexaenoic acid,were positively associated with high body mass index(BMI)in under-or normal-weight IgAN patients,while several free fatty acids and sphingomyelins were positively associated with high BMI in overweight or obese IgAN patients.Further,our study suggested that elevated levels of eight lipids,mainly TG species containing linolenic acid,were independent risk factors for IgAN progression and also reported the prospective association of circulating lipids with treatment outcomes in IgAN.Taken together,our findings may not only help to achieve precision medicine but also provide a knowledge base for dietary intervention in the treatment of IgAN.Yueyi Deng Qingqing Wu Wanjia Chen Li Zhu Wangyi Liu Fangying Xia Liang Sun Xu Lin Rong Zeng 2021Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2021,13,8:2

6Effects of Uniconazole on Photosynthetic Characteristics of Dahlia pinnata Cav.under Drought Stress显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to explore the physiological mechanism of uniconazole in response to drought stress in Dahlia pinnata.[Methods]With potted seedlings of D.pinnata variety‘Danbanhuang’as an experimental material,the effects of different concentrations(10,20,30 and 50 mg/L)of uniconazole on the photosynthetic characteristics of D.pinnata under drought stress and rewatering conditions were discussed.[Results]With the extension of drought time,the chlorophyll SPAD value,net photosynthetic rate,transpiration rate,and stomatal conductance of each treatment group decreased significantly,while the intercellular CO_(2)concentration showed a trend of first decreasing and then increasing;and after pretreatment of uniconazole spraying on leaves,it could alleviate the inhibition of drought stress on the photosynthesis of D.pinnata,and was beneficial to the recovery of photosynthetic capacity of D.pinnata after rewatering,and the effect of leaf application concentration of 30 mg/L was the best.It showed that exogenous uniconazole helps to improve the drought resistance of D.pinnata.[Conclusions]This study provides a new experimental basis for the chemical regulation of stress resistance in D.pinnata and its production and application.Fangying XU Xianfeng YUAN Siyu ZHU Yanhua MIAO Jianzhong TAN 2021Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,5:0
7Effects of Uniconazole on Stem and Leaf Growth and Endogenous Hormone Contents of Dahlia ( Dahlia pinnata Cav.)显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to investigate the physiological mechanism of the response of Dahlia pinnata to exogenous uniconazole during vegetative growth.[Methods]The effects of different concentrations(20,30,60 and 80 mg/L)of foliar fertilization on stem and leaf growth,chlorophyll and endogenous hormone contents were investigated using dahlia seedlings(cultivar‘Shiwucaiqiu’)cultivated in the open field.[Results]Different concentrations of uniconazole could make dahlia plants dwarf,shorten internodes,increase stem diameter,and deepen leaf color,and the higher the application concentration,the more significant the effects.Compared with the control group,the relative contents of chlorophyll(SPAD value)in various treatment groups increased,the contents of endogenous GA_(3) and IAA decreased,and the contents of ABA increased.Among them,the contents of IAA and ABA also showed a trend of increasing first and then decreasing.[Conclusions]The results indicated that uniconazole could affect the growth of stems and leaves and plant type by regulating photosynthetic pigments and the levels of endogenous hormones in dahlia,and good dwarfing effect and ornamental value could be obtained under the condition of foliar application concentration of 30 mg/L.This study provides a new experimental basis for the cultivation and application of dahlia.Fangying XU Yanhua MIAO Chi CHEN Xianfeng YUAN Jianzhong TAN 2022Agricultural Biotechnology2022,11,2:0
8Liver dysfunction on admission worsens clinical manifestations and outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019显示文摘Background:Liver dysfunction was common in coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),but its association with clinical features and poor prognosis has not been fully delineated.Our study aimed to determine the role of liver dysfunction in COVID-19 and understand the predictors for worse outcomes in patients with liver injury.Methods:We conducted this multicenter,retrospective study in five designated hospitals for COVID-19 manage-ment.Laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients were enrolled and classified into the normal live function group and liver dysfunction group according to liver enzymes,bilirubin,and albumin on admission,respectively.Data of baseline,clinical manifestations,and outcomes were collected and compared in the paired groups.Results:Of the 649 included COVID-19 patients,200(30.8%),69(10.6%),and 267(41.1%)patients had elevated liver enzymes,increased bilirubin,and low-level albumin,respectively.Fever,cough,and dyspnea were the most common symptoms and showed an increased proportion in the liver dysfunction group.Compared with patients in the normal liver function group,patients with liver dysfunction manifested decreased lymphocytes,higher level of leukocytes,neutrophils,inflammatory indicators,and cytokines,as well as more severe impairment in kidney function and myocardium.They were more likely to show bilateral involvement and more pulmonary lobes involved according to chest images.With increased proportion of patients who developed severe/critical conditions and needed mechanical ventilation and systemic glucocorticoid therapy,patients with liver dysfunc-tion on admission showed significantly higher in-hospital mortality.Moreover,cardiac troponin I≥1.5 ng/mL was identified as an independent mortality predictor in the elevated liver enzymes group.Conclusion:Patients with liver dysfunction on admission had worse clinical manifestation,and resulted in higher rate of severe/critical type,receiving mechanical ventilation and in-hospital mortality.Fangying Lu Rong Chen Kandi Xu Jie Huang Dexiang Yang Tao Bai Yusang Xie Yun Ling Kui Liu Wei Du Jiayang Yan Huihuang Lin Jian Li Yun Feng Min Zhou Yi Guo 2023Chinese Medical Journal Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine2023,1,3:0
9Study on the Genetic Transformation Conditions of Begonia wallichiana L.with Leaf Disc Method and Corresponding Identification Techniques显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to improve the Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation system of Begonia wallichiana.[Methods]With sterilized tube seedling leaves as the recipient material and GFP as the reporter gene,optimization experiments were carried out in terms of infection time and method,co-cultivation time and method,and PCR detection technology.[Results]The transformation effect was better under the conditions of shaking Agrobacterium liquid,infection time of 1-2 h,and co-cultivation on sterilized filter paper for 2 d.After co-cultivation,the recipient material was first subjected to recovery culture,and then used for Hyg gradient screening,which was conducive to obtaining resistant transformants.The designed specific PCR detection technology could quickly identify false positives in resistant regenerated plants,and the proportion of transgenic plants was 16.7%.[Conclusions]The research results provide a new technical reference for the genetic transformation of ornamental plants.Siyu ZHOU Yanhua MIAO Fangying XU Mulan ZHU Jianzhong TAN 2021Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,4:0
10Study on Photosynthetic Characteristics of Hybrid Mulberry in Autumn under Herbaceous Cultivation显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to clarify the physiological mechanism of growth of hybrid mulberry after autumn cutting in herbaceous cultivation.[Methods]The net photosynthetic rate(Pn),stomatal conductance(Gs),intercellular CO_(2) concentration(Ci)and transpiration rate(Tr)of leaves were measured under different treatment conditions using a Li-6400XT portable photosynthetic measurement system.[Results]After harvest of mulberry shoots in autumn,leaf Pn decreased with the extension of branch and leaf growth time,while Gs,Ci and Tr showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing.The Pn was affected by factors such as leaf positions,mulberry varieties,cutting,and fertilization,which was manifested by the 6 th to 10 th mature leaves>the 2 nd to 4 th tender leaves,‘Nongsang 14’>hybrid mulberry,intermediate cut>uncut,and normal fertilization>no fertilization,all showing significant differences(P<0.05).Combined with the results of Gs,Ci and Tr measurements,it was found that the changes in leaf Pn were mainly related to non-stomatal factors.Timely cutting and harvesting during summer and autumn could significantly improve the photosynthetic rate of mulberry leaf,which was beneficial for extending the late autumn growth period of hybrid mulberry under herbaceous cultivation.[Conclusions]This study provides a theoretical reference for mulberry shoot harvesting techniques in summer and autumn.Fangying XU Jinjian YU Huaqiang DONG Dezhong CHEN Jianzhong TAN 2023Agricultural Biotechnology2023,12,5:0
111-DE/MS Analysis of Proteins Related to the Spathe Color Variation in an Anthurium andraeanum Mutant显示文摘[Objectives] This study was conducted to explore the color variation mechanism of Anthurium andraeanum spathe at the protein level. [Methods]The differential proteins of wild type and its white mutant were separated and identified by using one-dimensional gel electrophoresis and mass spectrometry( 1-DE/MS). [Results] Compared with leaves and spadices,the 1-DE patterns of two kinds of spathe proteins were significantly different,and two different bands were detected in wild type spathes and mutant spathes respectively. The four significantly differential bands were selected and analyzed by mass spectrometry,and 138,111,70 and 427 proteins were identified respectively. The results of GO functional annotation analysis showed that the molecular functions of the proteins were mainly catalytic activity and binding,and the main biological processes involved were cellular process and metabolic process. Many proteins involved in the synthesis of anthocyanins and flavonoids,sugar metabolism and some resistance proteins were screened,indicating that the spathe color difference of A. andraeanum‘Pink champion'is not only related to anthocyanin anabolism,but also regulated by various metabolic pathways. 13A Study of Phytoplankton Community Structure in Duobukuer Nature Reserve显示文摘In spring,summer,autumn 2015,we studied the seasonal variation of phytoplankton community structure in six rivers within Duobukuer Nature Reserve,and made preliminary evaluation of the water quality in Duobukuer Nature Reserve based on phytoplankton diversity.The results showed that a total of 7 phyla,41 genera,66 species and varieties of phytoplankton were identified in Duobukuer Nature Reserve;the annual species composition was dominated by diatom( 59%) which also preponderated in dominant species( 84. 3%),biomass( 68%)and abundance( 75%),with no significant seasonal variation.
