1Numerical and experimental investigation on dynamic performance of bump foil journal bearing based on journal orbit显示文摘Widespread usage of bump-type foil journal bearing(BFJB) in oil-free microturbomachinery requires accurate predictions of dynamic performance characteristics, although it remains a challenging issue because BFJB reflects nonlinear both structurally and aerodynamically.This paper presented a simple experimental method to semi-directly obtain the minimum film thickness and dynamic stiffness of BFJB using the journal orbit. Numerical calculations and simulations are conducted to validate the experimental method. The micro-deformation and interaction of various foils are taken into consideration to improve the model precision. The results from the numerical model regarding the BFJB dynamic characteristics are compared with the experimental results coming from a dedicated test rig, which shows that the experimental results fluctuate obviously and agree not well with the numerical results at the start stage due to the presence of dry friction at that time, nevertheless, they show fantastic agreement as soon as a gas film is gradually generated to separate the shaft from the top foil. Therefore, the proposed experimental method is effective to predict film thickness and dynamic characteristics during the period from the lift-off time to the land-off time. 2Effects of Maca Extract on Exercise Endurance and Ultrastructure of Mitochondria in Spinal Neurons显示文摘[Objectives] To study the effects of maca extract on the exercise endurance and ultrastructure of mitochondria in spinal neurons.[Methods]First,50 Wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups. The control group: no swimming,administered intragastrically the same volume of distilled water; simple swimming group: free swimming,administered intragastrically the same volume of distilled water; maca extract groups: free swimming,and treated with 4. 0,5. 3,and 8. 0 g/kg dose of maca extracts. Swimming rats swam freely in the circulating water flow of swimming pool and administered for 15 d. On the 16 th d,after the swimming endurance test,the rats were killed painlessly. The ultrastructure of the mitochondria in the spinal neurons was observed with a projection electron microscope,muscle glycogen,malondialdehyde( MDA),superoxide dismutase( SOD),glutathione peroxidase( GSH-Px) and free calcium in muscle were measured by radioimmunoassay.[Results] Compared with the simple swimming group,the swimming time before sinking and total swimming time extended 19. 83%,60. 28%,77. 55% and 55. 34%,73. 91% and 94. 47% respectively,and the differences were statistically significant( P < 0. 01). The sinking times decreased by 34. 35%,51. 18% and 57. 96% respectively,the differences were statistically significant( P < 0. 01). MDA and free calcium decreased by 20. 10%,31. 49% and 38. 72%,respectively with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 01) and 6. 42%,17. 58%and 26. 35% respectively. The levels of SOD,GSH-Px and muscle glycogen increased by 5. 12%,22. 74%,52. 53%,44. 22%,77. 79%and 98. 45% respectively,with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 01) and 35. 08%,47. 83% and 81. 88%,respectively,with statistically significant differences( P < 0. 01). 3Effect of scavenge port angles on flow distribution and performance of swirl-loop scavenging in 2-stroke aircraft diesel engine显示文摘Swirl-Loop Scavenging(SLS) improves the performance of 2-stroke aircraft diesel engine because the involved swirl may not only benefit the scavenging process, but also facilitate the fuel atomization and combustion. The arrangement of scavenge port angles greatly influences incylinder flow distribution and swirl intensity, as well as the performance of the SLS engine. However, the mechanism of the effect and visualization experiment are rarely mentioned in the literature. To further investigate the SLS, Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV) experiment and Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) simulation are adopted to obtain its swirl distribution characteristics, and the effect of port angles on scavenging performance is discussed based on engine fired cycle simulation. The results illustrate that Reynolds Stress Turbulence model is accurate enough for in-cylinder flow simulation. Tangential and axial velocity distribution of the flow, as well as the scavenging performance, are mainly determined by geometric scavenge port angles ageom and βgeom . For reinforcement of scavenging on cross-sections and meridian planes, ageomvalue of27° and βgeom value of 60° are preferred, under which the scavenging efficiency reaches as high as 73.7%. 8Investigation into gas lubrication performance of porous gas bearing considering velocity slip boundary condition显示文摘Porous gas bearings(PGBs)have a proactive application in aerospace and turbomachinery.This study investigates the gas lubrication performance of a PGB with the condition of velocity slip boundary(VSB)owing to the high Knudsen number in the gas film.The Darcy-Forchheimer laws and modified Navier-Stokes equations were adopted to describe the gas flow in the porous layer and gas film region,respectively.An improved bearing experimental platform was established to verify the accuracy of the derived theory and the reliability of the numerical analysis.The effects of various parameters on the pressure distribution,flow cycle,load capacity,mass flow rate,and velocity profile are demonstrated and discussed.The results show that the gas can flow in both directions,from the porous layer to the gas film region,or in reverse.The load capacity of the PGB increases with an increase in speed and inlet pressure and decreases with an increase in permeability.The mass flow rate increases as the inlet pressure and permeability increase.Furthermore,the simulation results using VSB are in agreement with the experimental results,with an average error of 3.4%,which indicates that the model using VSB achieves a high accuracy.The simulation results ignoring the VSB overrate the load capacity by 16.42%and undervalue the mass flow rate by 11.29%.This study may aid in understanding the gas lubrication mechanism in PGBs and the development of novel gas lubricants.Xiangbo ZHANG Shuiting DING Farong DU Fenzhu JI Zheng XU Jiang LIU Qi ZHANG Yu ZHOU 2022Friction2022,10,6:1

16Semisynthesis of homogeneous spike RBD glycoforms from SARS-CoV-2 for profiling the correlations between glycan composition and function显示文摘Vaccines have been the primary remedy in the global fight against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).The receptor-binding domain(RBD)of the spike protein,a critical viral immunogen,is affected by the heterogeneity of its glycan structures and relatively low immunogenicity.Here,we describe a scalable synthetic platform that enables the precise synthesis of homogeneously glycosylated RBD,facilitating the elucidation of carbohydrate structure–function relationships.Five homogeneously glycosylated RBDs bearing biantennary glycans were prepared,three of which were conjugated to T-helper epitope(Tpep)from tetanus toxoid to improve their weak immune response.Relative to natural HEK293-derived RBD,synthetic RBDs with biantennary N-glycan elicited a higher level of neutralising antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in mice.Furthermore,RBDs containing T_(pep)elicited significant immune responses in transgenic mice expressing human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2.Our collective data suggest that trimming the N-glycans and T_(pep)conjugation of RBD could potentially serve as an effective strategy for developing subunit vaccines providing efficient protection.Farong Ye Cheng Li Feng-Liang Liu Xinliang Liu Peng Xu Rong-Hua Luo Wenping Song Yong-Tang Zheng Tianlei Ying Biao Yu Ping Wang 2024National Science Review2024,11,2:0

18Effects of Maca Extract on Endurance and Blood Antioxidant Enzyme Activity of Rats显示文摘[Objectives] The aim was to investigate the effects of maca extract on endurance and blood antioxidative enzyme activity of rats.[Methods]The Wistar rats treated with/without maca extract( 8. 0,16. 0,and 32. 0 g/kg) were given with free access to circulating water.The administration was conducted for 15 consecutive d. 19Effects of Noise Pollution on Functions of the Liver and Kidney of Rats显示文摘To study the effects of noise pollution on the functions of the liver and kidney of rats,a total of 40 male SPF Wistar rats were randomly divided into a control group and three experimental groups. The rats in the experimental groups were respectively stimulated with 38,55 and 70 dB noise for 15 days,and the levels of blood components were determined by an automatic biochemical analyzer. The results showed that in comparison with the control group,the level of the blood glucose in the experimental groups increased by 23. 53%,52. 94% and 88. 24%,respectively,and the differences were statistically significant( P < 0. 01). The levels of triglyceride in the blood rose by 20. 83%,38. 54% and 79. 68%,respectively,and the differences were also statistically significant( P < 0. 01). The level of globulin in the blood increased by 16. 49%,21. 13% and 51. 78%,and the level of albumin in the blood rose by 9. 51%,12. 67% and 17. 89%,respectively. The level of total bilirubin in the blood increased by 27. 04%,41. 63% and 73. 67%,respectively,and the differences were statistically significant( P < 0. 01). The level of creatinine in the blood rose by 9. 72%,10. 21% and 20. 99%,respectively. The level of amylase in the blood reduced by 6. 6%,13. 05% and 23. 89%,respectively. 20Effect of Octadecadienoic Acid on Proliferation and Apoptosis of Glioma Cells and Its Mechanism显示文摘[Objectives] To explore the inhibitory effect of octadecadienoic acid (ODA) on proliferation and apoptosis of glioma cells and its mechanism. [Methods] Cultured human glioma cells (cell density 2×10^(6) cells/L) were divided into three groups: solvent control group (DMSO, 30 μL/L), 5-FU group (10 mg/L) and octadecadienoic acid group (0.3, 0.6, 1.2 mg/L). The toxic effects of ODA on glioma cells were detected by trypan blue and thiazolium blue (MTT). The expression of P53, PI3K, P21, PKB/Akt and caspase-9 protein in glioma cells were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). [Results] The cell count under optical microscope showed that the inhibition rate of cell proliferation in low, medium and high dose ODA groups and 5-FU group was significantly higher than that in solvent control group ( P <0.01), but there was no significant difference compared with 5-FU group ( P >0.05). The results of MTT showed that compared with the solvent control group, the inhibition rate of cell proliferation in low, medium and high dose ODA groups and 5-FU group significantly increased ( P <0.01);compared with 5-FU group, the inhibition rate of cell proliferation in high dose ODA group significantly increased ( P <0.01). The results of flow cytometry showed that compared with the solvent control group, the number of cells in G_(0)/G_(1) phase increased significantly ( P <0.05, P <0.01), the number of cells in G_(2)/M phase decreased significantly ( P <0.01) and the apoptosis rate increased significantly ( P <0.01) in the low, medium and high dose ODA groups and 5-FU group;compared with 5-FU group, the number of cells in G_(2)/M phase decreased significantly ( P <0.01) and the apoptosis rate increased significantly ( P <0.01) in ODA group. ELISA testing results showed that the expression levels of P53, P13K and PKB/Akt in low, medium and high dose ODA groups and 5-FU group were significantly lower than those in solvent control group ( P <0.01), and only the expression level of protein in high dose ODA group was significantly lower than that in 5-FU group ( P <0.01);the expression levels of P21 and caspase-9 in low, medium and high dose ODA groups and 5-FU group were significantly higher than those in solvent control group ( P <0.05, P <0.01), but the expression level of protein in high dose ODA group was significantly higher than that in 5-FU group ( P <0.01). [Conclusions] ODA can obviously inhibit the proliferation of glioma cells and induce apoptosis.
