| 2 | Quasi-real-time simulation of rotating drum using discrete element method with parallel GPU computing显示文摘Real-time simulation of industrial equipment is a huge challenge nowadays. The high performance and fine-grained parallel computing provided by graphics processing units (GPUs) bring us closer to our goals. In this article, an industrial-scale rotating drum is simulated using simplified discrete element method (DEM) without consideration of the tangential components of contact force and particle rotation. A single GPU is used first to simulate a small model system with about 8000 particles in realtime, and the simulation is then scaled up to industrial scale using more than 200 GPUs in a 1D domain-decomposition parallelization mode. The overall speed is about 1/11 of the real-time. | 3 | Molecular dynamics simulation of complex multiphase flow on a computer cluster with GPUs显示文摘Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) was used to design and implement molecular dynamics (MD) simulations on graphics processing units (GPU). With an NVIDIA Tesla C870, a 20-60 fold speedup over that of one core of the Intel Xeon 5430 CPU was achieved, reaching up to 150 Gflops. MD simulation of cavity flow and particle-bubble interaction in liquid was implemented on multiple GPUs using a message passing interface (MPI). Up to 200 GPUs were tested on a special network topology, which achieves good scalability. | 4 | Pseudo-particle modeling for gas flow in microchannels显示文摘The velocity profiles and temperature distributions of gas flow in microchannels, for Knudsen numbers ranging from 0.01 to 0.20, are investigated with pseudo-particle modeling (PPM). It has been found that the velocity profiles are mainly affected by Knudsen number and the external force fields applied. When Knudsen number was increased, the slip velocities on the walls increased at the beginning, and then decreased. The temperature distributions were also significantly affected by the external force. | 5 | Chronic acalculous cholecystitis:correlation of clinical assessment,laboratory data and final histopathology显示文摘Objective:To summarize and analyze the clinical and histopathological features of chronic acalculous cholecystitis (CAC) and to investigate the diagnosis and surgical treatment of chronic acalculous cholecystit.Methods:The study subjects were 39 patients with chronic biliary symptoms but no evidence of stones in the gallbladder by B ultrasonography and magnetic resonance cholopancreatography (MRCP) (CAC group).The CCC group consisted of 66 patients taken randomly from concurrent all patients of chronic calculous cholecystitis (CCC).All patients accepted fibergastroscopy,B ultrasonography,MRCP,laboratory examination preoperatively.We retrospectively analyzed the clinical features,B ultrasonography and MRCP findings,histopathological results and clinical outcomes between the two groups.Results:All the 39 patients were diagnosed by clinical symptoms,B ultrasonography,fatty meal gallbladder contractability studies under ultrasound,fibergastroscopy and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP),what's more,they were pathologically verified postoperatively.In all patients,there was a complete absence of gallbladder wall contractability.Mucosa epithelial defect was found in 21 patients in CAC group (53.8%) and 16 patients in CCC group (24.2%) respectively (P<0.005).Thickened arteriole wall was found in 29 patients in CAC group (74.4%) and none patient in CCC group (P<0.0001).Thickened gallbladder wall (4 mm or more in thickness) was found in 33 patients in CAC group (84.6%) and 28 patients in CCC group (42.4%) respectively (P<0.005).Bile stasis was found in 23 patients in CAC group (59.0%) and 14 patients in CCC group (21.2%) respectively by ultrasonography preoperatively and confirmed in operation (P<0.005).The outcomes of cholecystectomy,expressed as total or near total relief,was similar in the two groups.No statistically significant differences were observed between patients with CAC (90%) and CCC (80%),the P-value >0.05.Conclusion:Chronic acalculous cholecystitis could be diagnosed by symptoms,ultrasound,fatty meal gallbladder contractability studies under untrasoundand MRCP.The optimal treatment of chronic acalculous cholecystitis characterized by thickened arteriole wall and mucosa epithelial defect is cholecystectomy. | Yan Jianjun Zhu Qian Shen Jun Zhou Feiguo Huang Liang Liu Caifeng Zhang Xianghua Cong Wenming Yan Yiqun | 2012 | Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA(China)2012,27,2: | 4 |

| 8 | Long-term survival for spontaneous rupture of hepatocellular carcinoma treated with hepatectomy显示文摘Objective:To determine the prognostic factors of ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and report the management of patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC in a single center during a 5-year period and to evaluate one-stage hepatectomy.Methods:A series of 4,209 patients with HCC were collected at Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital from April 2002 to November 2006,of whom 200 patients(4.8%) with ruptured HCC were studied retrospectively regarding their clinical characteristics and prognostic factors.The one-stage therapeutic approach to manage ruptured HCC consisted of initial management by conservative method,transarterial embolization(TAE) or surgical hepatectomy.Results of various treatments were evaluated and compared in the randomly selected 202 patients with no history of rupture during the same study period.Results:A total of 200 patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC were studied who underwent surgical treatment(n=105),TAE 33 and conservative treatment(ConT 62).A multivariate analysis using the Cox hazard regression model(including all the patients;n=200) identified surgical hepatectomy as the only independent factor determining a relatively long survival period(P<0.0001).On the other hand,in a further analysis of the patients in whom surgical hepatectomy was successfully performed(n=105),which identified a maximum tumor size exceeding 6 cm as significant determinants of a poor 12-month(P=0.036),and a multivariate analysis did not identify as any inverse independent factor determining relatively long-term survival,only a maximum tumor size exceeding 6 cm exhibited a tendency toward being a determinant factor(P=0.083).Conclusion:Considering the high propensity to spontaneous rupture,as long as preoperatively clinical evaluation meet surgery requirements,elective one-stage hepatectomy for patients with ruptured HCC is the first treatment option.Prolonged survival could be achieved in selected patients with hepatic resection,although the survival results were inferior to those of the patients who did not have the complication of rupture. | Zhu Qian Yan Jianjun Zhang Xianghua Cao Jie Huang Liang Li Jing Shen Jun Zhou Feiguo Yan Yiqun | 2012 | Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA(China)2012,27,3: | 2 |

The results indicated that lanthanum chloride could decrease the binding rate of LPS with monocyte significantly. | 10 | Biological effects of extract from newborn porcine liver on hepatocytes,hepatic stellate cells,and hepatoma cell line显示文摘Objective: Porcine liver extract has been shown to be effective in the clinical treatment of severe hepatitis. The aim of the present study was to study its antifibrotic as well as immune regulatory effect in vitro. Methods: Hepatocytes, hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), hepatoma cell line (HepG2) and human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PMNCs) were studied with respect to proliferation, extracellular matrix production and apoptotic activities by proliferation assay, radioimmunoassay, gene transfection, reporter gene analysis and flow cytometry, respectively. Results: A strong stimulatory proliferation effect was observed in hepatocytes, and an inhibitory effect was found in HSCs. Hyaluronic acid (HA) production and reporter gene activities driven by various α1(I) procollagen gene promoters in HSC-T6 were significantly decreased after treatment with the extract. Fluo-Anexin V binding apoptotic HepG2 cells were more prominent in the presence of 60 μg/ml extract. More CD4+/CD69+ positive T lymphocytes existed in the presence of the extract. Conclusion: Porcine liver extract is effective for antifibrogenesis via hepatocyteregeneration, HSC and hepatoma cell inhibition in vitro. The elevation of active T lymphocytes is helpful for immune surveillance. | 13 | Eulerian–Lagrangian simulation of bubble coalescence in bubbly flow using the spring-dashpot model显示文摘The Eulerian–Lagrangian simulation of bubbly flow has the advantage of tracking the motion of bubbles in continuous fluid, and hence the position and velocity of each bubble could be accurately acquired. Previous simulation usually used the hard-sphere model for bubble–bubble interactions, assuming that bubbles are rigid spheres and the collisions between bubbles are instantaneous. The bubble contact time during collision processes is not directly taken into account in the collision model. However, the contact time is physically a prerequisite for bubbles to coalesce, and should be long enough for liquid film drainage. In this work we applied the spring-dashpot model to model the bubble collisions and the bubble contact time, and then integrated the spring-dashpot model with the film drainage model for coalescence and a bubble breakage model. The bubble contact time is therefore accurately recorded during the collisions. We investigated the performance of the spring-dashpot model and the effect of the normal stiffness coefficient on bubble coalescence in the simulation.The results indicate that the spring-dashpot model together with the bubble coalescence and breakage model could reasonably reproduce the two-phase flow field, bubble coalescence and bubble size distribution. | 14 | Quantifying growth and breakage of agglomerates in fluid-particle flow using discrete particle method显示文摘The cohesive solids in liquid flows are featured by the dynamic growth and breakage of agglomerates, and the difficulties in the development, design and optimization of these systems are related to this significant feature.In this paper, discrete particle method is used to simulate a solid–liquid flow system including millions of cohesive particles, the growth rate and breakage rate of agglomerates are then systematically investigated. It was found that the most probable size of the agglomerates is determined by the balance of growth and breakage of the agglomerates the cross point of the lines of growth rate and breakage rate as a function of the particle numbers in an agglomerate, marks the most stable agglomerate size. | 16 | Sorafenib in hepatocellular carcinoma:efficacy and predictive factors显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma treated with sorafenib and determine the predictive factors for survival.Methods:From April 2009 to December 2010,all patients with hepatocellular carcinoma treated with sorafenib were included in the study.Clinical data and survival time were collected.Survival analysis was conducted using the Kaplan-Meier method,and predictive factors for survival were analysed using the Cox's model.Results:A total of 51 patients were included in the study,the median time of follow-up was 10 months(range 1-22).All the 51 patients had one or more adverse events,of which 2 patients died of upper gastrointestinal bleeding and 6 patients discontinued treatment.The mean survival time was 11 months and 1-year survival was 60.8%.On univariate analysis,the median survival time of patients with tumors of BCLC A,B and C were 17,12.5 and 8.5 months,and 1-year survival were 71.4%,61.1%,and 23.1%, respectively(P=0.006).Compared with those with mild and poor arterial supply tumors,patients with good arterial supply tumors had longer median survival time(12 months vs 8 months and 9 months) and higher 1-year survival(52.0%vs 30.8%and 38.5%)(P=0.037).Patients with portal invasion had shorter median survival time and lower 1-year survival(8.5 months vs 13 months and 57.6%vs 16.7%,respectively) than those without(P=0.012).Patients with prealbumin≥170 mg/L had longer median survival time and higher 1-year survival(13.5 months vs 9 months and 55.6%vs 36.4%,respectively) than those with prealbumin<170 mg/L(P=0.016).Early tumor BCLC staging and high level of prealbumin were independent predictive factors for survival on multivariate analysis using Cox's regression model,the hazard ratio were 3.69(95%CI:1.30-10.53,P=0.015) and 3.53(95%CI:1.40-8.91,P=0.008) respectively.Conclusion:Upper gastrointestinal bleeding was a severe event need to be concerned in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma treated with sorafenib.Patients with high level of prealbumin could benefit more from sorafenib treatment,and prealbumin could be a predictor for survival in HCC patients treated with sorafenib. | Li Jing Huang Liang Yan Jianjun Zhou Feiguo Liu Caifeng Yan Yiqu | 2011 | Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA(China)2011,26,6: | 0 |
