2A Chromosome-Scale Genome Assembly of Paper Mulberry(Bmussonetia papyrifera)Provides New Insights into Its Forage and Papermaking Usage显示文摘Paper mulberry(Broussonetia papyrifera)is a well-known woody tree historically used for Cai Lun papermaking,one of the four great inventions of ancient China.More recently,Paper mulberry has also been used as forage to address the shortage of feedstuff because of its digestible crude fiber and high protein contents.In this study,we obtained a chromosome-scale genome assembly for Paper mulberry using integrated approaches,including Illumina and PacBio sequencing platform as well as Hi-C,optical,and genetic maps.The assembled Paper mulberry genome consists of 386.83 Mb,which is close to the estimated size,and 99.25%(383.93 Mb)of the assembly was assigned to 13 pseudochromosomes.Comparative genomic analysis revealed the expansion and contraction in the flavonoid and lignin biosynthetic gene families,respectively,accounting for the enhanced flavonoid and decreased lignin biosynthesis in Paper mulberry.Moreover,the increased ratio of syringyl-lignin to guaiacyl-lignin in Paper mulberry underscores its suitability for use in medicine,forage,papermaking,and barkcloth making.We also identified the rootassociated microbiota of Paper mulberry and found that Pseudomonas and Rhizobia were enriched in its roots and may provide the source of nitrogen for its stems and leaves via symbiotic nitrogen fixation.Collectively,these results suggest that Paper mulberry might have undergone adaptive evolution and recruited nitrogen-fixing microbes to promote growth by enhancing flavonoid production and altering lignin monomer composition.Our study provides significant insights into genetic basis of the usefulness of Paper mulberry in papermaking and barkcloth making,and as forage.These insights will facilitate further domestication and selection as well as industrial utilization of Paper mulberry worldwide.Xianjun Peng Hui Liu Peilin Chen Feng Tang Yanmin Hu Fenfen Wang Zhi Pi Meiling Zhao Naizhi Chen Hui Chen Xiaokang Zhang Xueqing Yan Min Liu Xiaojun Fu Guofeng Zhao Pu Yao Lili Wang He Dai Xuming Li Wei Xiong Wencai Xu Hongkun Zheng Haiyan Yu Shihua Shen 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,5:18
3Review of organic and inorganic pollutants removal by biochar and biochar-based composites显示文摘Biochar(BC)has exhibited a great potential to remove water contaminants due to its wide availability of raw materials,high surface area,developed pore structure,and low cost.However,the application of BC for water remediation has many limita-tions.Driven by the intense desire of overcoming unfavorable factors,a growing number of researchers have carried out to produce BC-based composite materials,which not only improved the physicochemical properties of BC,but also obtained a new composite material which combined the advantages of BC and other materials.This article reviewed previous researches on BC and BC-based composite materials,and discussed in terms of the preparation methods,the physicochemical properties,the performance of contaminant removal,and underlying adsorption mechanisms.Then the recent research progress in the removal of inorganic and organic contaminants by BC and BC-based materials was also systematically reviewed.Although BC-based composite materials have shown high performance in inorganic or organic pollutants removal,the potential risks(such as stability and biological toxicity)still need to be noticed and further study.At the end of this review,future prospects for the synthesis and application of BC and BC-based materials were proposed.This review will help the new researchers systematically understand the research progress of BC and BC-based composite materials in environmental remediation.Liping Liang Fenfen Xi Weishou Tan Xu Meng Baowei Hu Xiangke Wang 2021Biochar2021,3,3:13

5Dynamic system uncertainty propagation using polynomial chaos显示文摘The classic polynomial chaos method(PCM), characterized as an intrusive methodology,has been applied to uncertainty propagation(UP) in many dynamic systems. However, the intrusive polynomial chaos method(IPCM) requires tedious modification of the governing equations, which might introduce errors and can be impractical. Alternative to IPCM, the non-intrusive polynomial chaos method(NIPCM) that avoids such modifications has been developed. In spite of the frequent application to dynamic problems, almost all the existing works about NIPCM for dynamic UP fail to elaborate the implementation process in a straightforward way, which is important to readers who are unfamiliar with the mathematics of the polynomial chaos theory. Meanwhile, very few works have compared NIPCM to IPCM in terms of their merits and applicability. Therefore, the mathematic procedure of dynamic UP via both methods considering parametric and initial condition uncertainties are comparatively discussed and studied in the present paper. Comparison of accuracy and efficiency in statistic moment estimation is made by applying the two methods to several dynamic UP problems. The relative merits of both approaches are discussed and summarized. 6Toxicological effects involved in risk assessment of rare earth lanthanum on roots of Vicia faba L.seedlings显示文摘Combined chemical analyses and biological measurements were utilized to investigate potential toxicological effects and possible mechanisms involved in risk assessment of rare earth elements (REEs) on Vicia faba L.seedlings,which were hydroponically cultivated and exposed to various concentrations of lanthanum (La) for 15 days.The results showed that La contents in both the solution and roots increased with the increase of extraneous La,contributing to hormetic dose responses of superoxide dismutase (SOD),catalase (CAT),guaiacol peroxidase (GPX),ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and endoprotease (EP) isozymes activities,and HSP 70 production enhanced at low doses but suppressed at higher doses of La.These physiological responses constituted antioxidant and detoxification systems against La-induced oxidative stress.The elevated La levels also contributed to oxidatively modified proteins,which were most responsible for subsequent cell death and growth retardation of the roots.By combination of hormetic and traditional threshold dose levels,the threshold dose range was deduced to be 108-195 μg La/g dry weight in the roots,corresponding to 0.90-3.12 mg/L of soluble La in the culture solution.It suggests that persistent applications of REEs may lead to potential ecological risk in the environment.Chengrun Wang Mei He Wen Shi Jessie Wong Tao Cheng Xiaorong Wang Lingling Hu Fenfen Chen 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,10:9

8Empirical-Statistical Models Based on Remote Sensing for Estimating the Volume of Landslides Induced by the Wenchuan Earthquake显示文摘The Wenchuan Ms 8.0 earthquake on May 12, 2008 induced a huge number of landslides. The distribution and volume of the landslides are very important for assessing risks and understanding the landslide - debris flow - barrier lake - bursts flood disaster chain. The number and the area of landslides in a wide region can be easily obtained by remote sensing technique, while the volume is relatively difficult to obtain because it requires some detailed geometric information of slope failure surface and sub-surface. Different empirical models for estimating landslide volume were discussed based on the data of 107 landslides in the earthquake-stricken area. The volume data of these landslides were collected by field survey. Their areas were obtained by interpreting remote sensing images while their apparent friction coefficients and height were extracted from the images unifying DEM (digital elevation model). By analyzing the relationships between the volume and the area, apparent friction coefficients, and the height, two models were established, one for the adaptation of a magnitude scale landslide events in a wide range of region, another for the adaptation in a small scope. The correlation coefficients (R2) are 0.7977 and 0.8913, respectively. 9SmMYB2 promotes salvianolic acid biosynthesis in the medicinal herb Salvia miltiorrhiza显示文摘MYB transcription factors play vital roles in plant growth and metabolism.The phytohormone methyl jasmonate(MeJA)promotes phenolic acid accumulation in the medicinal herb Salvia miltiorrhiza,but the regulatory mechanism is poorly understood.Here,we identified the MeJA-responsive R2R3-MYB transcription factor gene 5mMYB2 from a transcriptome library produced from MeJAtreated S.mi'/horr/ifza hairy roots.Sm/VIYB2 expression was tightly correlated with the expression of key salvianolic acid biosynthetic genes including CYP^8Ai^.5mMYB2 was highly expressed in the periderm of S.miltiorrhiza and SmMYB2 localized to the nucleus.Overexpressing Sml\AYB2 in S.miltiorrhiza hairy roots significantly increased the levels of salvianolic acids(including rosmarinic acid and salvianolic acid B)by upregulating salvianolic acid biosynthetic genes such as CYP98A14.SmMYB2 binds to the MYB-binding motifs in the promoter of CYP98A14,as confirmed by a dual-luciferase assay and electrophoretic mobility shift assays.Anthocyanin contents were significantly higher in Sm/ViyB2-overexpressing hairy root lines than the control,primarily due to the increased expression of CHI,DFR,and ANS.These findings reveal the novel regulatory role of SmMYB2 in MeJA-mediated phenolic acid biosynthesis,providing a useful target gene for metabolic engineering and shedding light on the salvianolic acid regulatory network.Changping Deng Yao Wang Fenfen Huang Sunjie Lu Limei Zhao Xingyuan Ma Guoyin Kai 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,11:6
10Grain nucleation and growth behavior of a Sn-Pb alloy affected by direct current: An in situ investigation显示文摘In situ synchrotron X-ray radiography was used to study the effect of direct current(DC) on the grain nucleation and growth of Sn-50 wt.%Pb alloy. The results showed that applying DC adequately during solidification could effectively enhance the grain nucleation and inhibit its growth. Imaging of comparative experiments with varying DC intensity indicated that the final grain size, determined by the competition between grain nucleation and growth, was sensitively dependent on the DC intensity. It was found that the average grain size was decreased from 1632 to 567 μm with DC density of 1.5 A/mm^2 compared to the case without DC. 11Overexpression of SlOFP20 affects floral organ and pollen development显示文摘The OVATE gene was initially identified in tomato and serves as a key regulator of fruit shape.There are 31 OFP members in the tomato genome.However,their roles in tomato growth and reproductive development are largely unknown.Here,we cloned the OFP transcription factor SlOFP20.Tomato plants overexpressing SlOFP20 displayed several phenotypic defects,including an altered floral architecture and fruit shape and reduced male fertility.SlOFP20 overexpression altered the expression levels of some brassinosteroid(BR)-associated genes,implying that SlOFP20 may play a negative role in the BR response,similar to its ortholog OsOFP19 in rice.Moreover,the transcript accumulation of gibberellin(GA)-related genes was significantly affected in the transgenic lines.SlOFP20 may play an important role in the crosstalk between BR and GA.The pollen germination assay suggested that the pollen germination rate of SlOFP20-OE plants was distinctly lower than that of WT plants.In addition,the tomato pollen-associated genes SlCRK1,SlPMEI,LePRK3,SlPRALF,and LAT52 were all suppressed in the transgenic lines.Our data imply that SlOFP20 may affect floral organ and pollen development by modulating BR and GA signaling in tomato.Shengen Zhou Zongli Hu Fenfen Li Shibing Tian Zhiguo Zhu Anzhou Li Guoping Chen 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:4
12Cooperative guidance of seeker-less missile considering localization error显示文摘To perform an accurate fire-and-forget attack of seeker-less missile with the consideration of the localization error, a new cooperative guidance strategy of multi-missiles is proposed in this work. Firstly, an estimated position of the seeker-less missile is carefully selected, based on which the slant angle of the line between the estimated and real positions of the seeker-less missile is approximately derived inspired by the localization theory of GPS(Global Position System).Then, respectively based on the guidance law considering the impact angle and time constraints, the consensus theory and the finite-time convergence approach, three cooperative guidance laws employing the previously obtained slant angle are derived for intensive attack to address either a stationary or maneuvering target. 13Association between 15 known or potential breast cancer susceptibility genes and breast cancer risks in Chinese women显示文摘Objective:There are many hereditary breast cancer patients in China,and multigene panel testing has been a new paradigm of genetic testing for these patients and their relatives.However,the magnitude of breast cancer risks related to multiple breast cancer susceptibility genes are largely unknown in Chinese women.Methods:We screened pathogenic variants in 15 established or potential breast cancer susceptibility genes from 8,067 consecutive Chinese female breast cancer patients and 13,129 Chinese cancer-free female controls.These breast cancer patients were unselected for age at diagnosis or family history.Results:We found that pathogenic variants in TP53[odds ratio(OR):16.9,95%confidence interval(CI):5.2–55.2];BRCA2(OR:10.4,95%CI:7.6–14.2);BRCA1(OR:9.7,95%CI:6.3–14.8);and PALB2(OR:5.2,95%CI:3.0–8.8)were associated with a high risk of breast cancer.ATM,BARD1,CHEK2,and RAD51D were associated with a moderate risk of breast cancer with ORs ranging from 2-fold to 4-fold.In contrast,pathogenic variants of NBN,RAD50,BRIP1,and RAD51C were not associated with increased risk of breast cancer in Chinese women.The pathogenic variants of PTEN,CDH1,and STK11 were very rare,so they had a limited contribution to Chinese breast cancer.Patients with pathogenic variants of TP53,BRCA1,BRCA2,and PALB2 more often had earlyonset breast cancer,bilateral breast cancer,and a family history of breast cancer and/or any cancer.Conclusions:This study provided breast cancer risk assessment data for multiple genes in Chinese women,which is useful for genetic testing and clinical management of Chinese hereditary breast cancer.Fenfen Fu Dongjie Zhang Li Hu Senthil Sundaram Dingge Ying Ying Zhang Shuna Fu Juan Zhang Lu Yao Ye Xu Yuntao Xie 2022Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,2:3
14Enhancing mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of nickel-aluminum bronze via hot rolling process显示文摘The mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of as-cast, as-annealed and hot-rolled nickelaluminum bronze(NAB) alloy(Cu-9 Al-10 Ni-4 Fe-1.2 Mn, all in wt.%) in 3.5 wt.% Na Cl solution were investigated. The results show that annealing introduces a large number of k phases to precipitate in the k phase. However, after further hot rolling, the original continuous k phases are spheroidized and dispersed, increasing the strength, hardness, and elongation of the alloy. In addition to the enhanced mechanical properties, the corrosion resistance of the NAB samples is also improved significantly by hot rolling, as revealed by the mass loss measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS), and cross-sectional corrosion morphology. Selective phase corrosion occurs by the preferential corrosion of the k phase, which acts as an anode to the k phases, and the uncorroded k phases are retained in the corrosion product film. The interfaces between the k phases and the surrounding corrosion products become discontinuous caused by the spheroidization of k phases, reducing the corrosion of the substrate by the corrosive medium via the channels. 15Synergetic PM_(2.5) and O_(3) control strategy for the Yangtze River Delta,China显示文摘PM_(2.5)concentrations have dramatically reduced in key regions of China during the period 2013-2017,while O_(3)has increased.Hence there is an urgent demand to develop a synergetic regional PM_(2.5)and O_(3)control strategy.This study develops an emission-to-concentration response surface model and proposes a synergetic pathway for PM_(2.5)and O_(3)control in the Yangtze River Delta(YRD)based on the framework of the Air Benefit and Cost and Attainment Assessment System(ABaCAS).Results suggest that the regional emissions of NOx,SO_(2),NH3,VOCs(volatile organic compounds)and primary PM_(2.5)should be reduced by 18%,23%,14%,17%and 33%compared with 2017 to achieve 25%and 5% decreases of PM_(2.5)and O_(3)in 2025,and that the emission reduction ratios will need to be 50%,26%,28%,28% and 55%to attain the National Ambient Air Quality Standard.To effectively reduce the O_(3) pollution in the central and eastern YRD,VOCs controls need to be strengthened to reduce O_(3)by 5%,and then NOx reduction should be accelerated for air quality attainment.Meanwhile,control of primary PM_(2.5)emissions shall be prioritized to address the severe PM_(2.5)pollution in the northern YRD.For most cities in the YRD,the VOCs emission reduction ratio should be higher than that for NOx in Spring and Autumn.NOx control should be increased in summer rather than winter when a strong VOC-limited regime occurs.Besides,regarding the emission control of industrial processes,on-road vehicle and residential sources shall be prioritized and the joint control area should be enlarged to include Shandong,Jiangxi and Hubei Province for effective O_(3)control.Zhaoxin Dong Jia Xing Fenfen Zhang Shuxiao Wang Dian Ding Hongli Wang Cheng Huang Haotian Zheng Yueqi Jiang Jiming Hao 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,1:3

17The methyl jasmonate-responsive transcription factor SmMYB1 promotes phenolic acid biosynthesis in Salvia miltiorrhiza显示文摘Water-soluble phenolic acids are major bioactive compounds in the medicinal plant species Salvia miltiorrhiza.Phenolic acid biosynthesis is induced by methyl jasmonate(MeJA)in this important Chinese herb.Here,we investigated the mechanism underlying this induction by analyzing a transcriptome library of S.miltiorrhiza in response to MeJA.Global transcriptome analysis identified the MeJA-responsive R2R3-MYB transcription factor-encoding gene SmMYB1.Overexpressing SmMYB1 significantly promoted phenolic acid accumulation and upregulated the expression of genes encoding key enzymes in the phenolic acid biosynthesis pathway,including cytochrome P450-dependent monooxygenase(CYP98A14).Dual-luciferase(dual-LUC)assays and/or an electrophoretic mobility shift assays(EMSAs)indicated that SmMYB1 activated the expression of CYP98A14,as well as the expression of genes encoding anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway enzymes,including chalcone isomerase(CHI)and anthocyanidin synthase(ANS).In addition,SmMYB1 was shown to interact with SmMYC2 to additively promote CYP98A14 expression compared to the action of SmMYB1 alone.Taken together,these results demonstrate that SmMYB1 is an activator that improves the accumulation of phenolic acids and anthocyanins in S.miltiorrhiza.These findings lay the foundation for in-depth studies of the molecular mechanism underlying MeJA-mediated phenolic acid biosynthesis and for the metabolic engineering of bioactive ingredients in S.miltiorrhiza.Wei Zhou Min Shi Changping Deng Sunjie Lu Fenfen Huang Yao Wang Guoyin Kai 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:3

19Control failure of the roll-isolated inertial navigation system under large pitch angle显示文摘Roll-isolation is an effective way for spinning vehicle to greatly reduce the roll gyro range of strapdown Inertial Navigation System(SINS)and increase the accuracy of inertial navigation.However,during a recent flight test,the roll-isolated control system failure was observed under a large pitch angle(706 h 685),which introduces a sharply increase in the roll angular velocity,the saturation of roll gyro and the inertial navigation failure.To address this issue,the governing equation of the roll-isolated system is derived with the consideration of various disturbance factors.The control failure is reproduced by numerical simulation.And the results show that the pitch and yaw angular velocity can cause a dramatic increase in roll rate under the large pitch angle,resulting in the roll-isolated control failure.Meanwhile,an improved roll-isolated control system is developed using PI controller,which is verified by mathematical simulation.Jinchao SONG Shuxing YANG Fenfen XIONG 2020Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2020,33,10:2
